Camera Aspect Ratio Issue - Micromax Canvas A1
I used to have 5MP /16:9 back and 2.4MP front camera but after upgrading to Lollipop it's downgraded to 4.9MP/4:3 and 1.9MP/4:3
I am wondering why is that? why Lollipop messed up the Camera? how come I get over from this and take 5MP/16:9 photos again like I used to do.
I too wanna how to recover with this problem. Is there anything we can do using root ??

2560*1920 = 4915200 (in Lollipop)
2880*1728 = 4976640 (In KitKat)
it means in KitKat there are more pixels in taken images. but when it comes to Lollipop it reduced.
exactly 61440 pixels lost it's not a small value. so basically 5MP down to 4.9MP and aspect ratio is down from 16:9 to 4:3 and 61440 pixels lost Lollipop made the camera bad.
Photo thumbnails also messed up I just took a pic and it shows a green thumbnail but the photo is fine.
Back Camera is same.
Back
1152*2048 =2359296 (K)
1600*1200 =1920000 (L)
OMG, basically 439296 pixels lost what the heck google.

It's not an issue of the camera app ,no matter what camera app you use ,the issue is still there.
I presume, it's an issue in the camera API in the lollipop.
Hi,
Is the device using an MTK chipset?

Click to collapse There's a simple answer to this, 3264/1840 = 1.77 and 16/9 = 1.77 3264/2448 = 1.33 and 4/3 = 1.33 Basically the stock camera is set to take 16:9 photo's, and the CZF is set to take standard 4:3 format images. I assume you can change all that from the options of each app..?
Wide is just a cropped version of 4/3... The sensor is 4/3.
Well I just checked czf and I can set to wide 6mp with the same res as stock app. Seems to point that stock at 16:9 is only 6mp? Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Stock Camera App -> Settings -> Camera Options Deselect Widescreen Now your photos are (3264 x 2448) full 8MP.

20MP (IMX 376K) how to access in normal conditions?
Hello, I want to take pictures in jpg +dng with the IMX 376K sensor. Are there some third party apps, that have access to the IMX 376K ? And what is with FreeDcam? Any plans to integrate this? Thanks
FYI 20MP is scaled up number. You won't get good quality like primary 16MP lens. So not much use of the secondary lens however they should give option to switch lens in pro mode.

But I can't switch to 20 mp sensor with volume buttons - However, I can still use telephoto/normal (1X/2X) using the camera app. Isn't that strange?
Is there a way to use 20mpx camera when using arnova Gcam?

No. Only OP5 users can switch to tele lens.

It shoots 20MP photo then magic OP software interpolate it to lower res to "improve quality and decrease noise" and then i don't know why, extrapolates that image back to 20MP. If i'm right it is written in camera HAL so we can't do nothing with it... Test it by Yourself, just type *#*#1597#*#* in dialer and take photo with "tele" and "wide" in sunny day. @rmroot You use dialer to input this code I wrote earlier. It opens camera app which now allows You to switch lenses manually.

Blurry Group Selfies
All group selfies are unusable because of blur, I have the feeling it is not an out of focus blur, but the artificially applied portrait lens faking blur. Can't find more information or how to disable it?

Question Pixel 6 pro selfie camera (ISSUE)
I have no option for the .7x wide-screen on selfie camera. Can zoom from x1 upto x4 but no wide-screen using .7 Can idea guys?
Your camera app looks different to mine. I don't have a zoom slider only buttons. My camera app version: 8.4.167.404335983.10 Perhaps try cleairng app data and checking if there's updates
Is that camera all the way down to 0.7x? I understood that to just be for the outward facing camera at 114 degrees. The video conferencing camera is only 94 degrees, so not as wide. Mine shows me zoom down to 0.9. The HAL says: android.control.zoomRatioRange [0.84999305 10.00000000 ] Looks like you also have some kind of night mode switched on. I wonder if that changes the limits?

Have you had the software update yet that added some features?
I had 1 software update out the box which I installed. I'm using the latest camera build version 8.4.167.404335983.10 I uninstalled the camera app & reinstalled, also done hard reset pressing power & volume up for 10 seconds, but still have same issue!
If the video conferencing camera reads 0.7 in the google camera application, they're probably mucking with the readings. The HAL *does not* have that ratio.
I have the same issue, had an update this morning. The gesture bar at the bottom is gone and the camera interface has a slider rather than 0.7, 1, 4 etc!
I've realised that on both of our pixels having selfie video in time lapse mode crashes the app
