Pixel 2 XL Wierd Battery Drain - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
Quick one, I haven't installed anything new and suddenly am having my Pixel just not going into deep sleep.
Left phone still on table, no deep sleep.
Installed GSam BBS and can't find alot wrong, as in an app that's smashing it. Only thing I can see is no deep sleep! Like, more drain when screens off then on! Wtf! I've tried everything but a reset. Rather not. Shouldn't have too. I'm not even rooted. I was months ago but went back to stock.
Screenshot included. Any ideas?
Thanks guys.

Sorry, missed this screenshot... Couldn't work out how to edit and add.

When's the last time you've restarted your phone? If it's been since last monthly update, sometimes it's as simple as restarting to get it back to normal.

You mean rebooting yeah? Like on and off? Not factory reset? Yeah, rebooted so many times now. Haha. Thanks though, I know what you mean.

Yeah definitely only talking about restarting, not resetting. How long has it not been able to do sleep? If anything, see if today's update gets it back to working.

About a week or so. I just checked for updates, none unfortunately. This is really frustrating and confusing. Lol. Is just not able to deep doze at all.

Yeah, put it through this morning. Not sure yet. I'm not hopeful as phones been off charge for 2 hours and I'm at 88% already lol. We'll see though.
Thanks! ☺

Hrmm, I know I might have to give it a few days but, make anything of this?

I don't use GSam BBS so don't know how much kernel usage I got. All I know is that over night it was from 100% to 97% in about 7.5 hours. So pretty sure it dozed in deep sleep fine for me.

[Q] Is My Battery Normal?

Hi guys.
First I need to say that my phone is new. (1 week)
My battery drops so fast when i using it. When I dont its quite good actually. Today i flashed my phone and right now Im using Darkside ICS beta5.
My battery drops %5 in 11-12 minutes while I use 3G Internet browsing. Both of stock and darkside are quite same while doing this.
I lost %18 in 96 minutes. Screen on for 52 minutes. Web 15 minutes via 3G. Phone call 15 minutes.
My screen brigtness is at %20-25 scala.
My question is that "are my values normal?"
Man that seems a bit quick. You might want to look into calibrating the battery and if nothing else, ask t-mo to send you a new one.

How to conserve battey life?

My battery is dying faster than ever. I am on stock rooted JellyBean. My battery dies within four hours and right now i am streaming pandora and the phone is hot.
Could it be that I have a ton of apps on my phone? This did not happen before. I have about 350 apps:what: installed. Lol please do not judge me lol

Jesus Christ 350? That's a lot of apps running in the "background"
Is that all you do is listen to pandora? Because I'm just purely stock JB (not rooted) and my phone last 2 days without being charged and I stream pandora as well.
I honestly get better life when my phone isn't rooted. Very weird I know but I think I do anyway
But I do know a lot of battery saving tips..
It could be all of those apps then. Lol i forgot they run in that background. Oh wow lol that explains it. Im gonna uninstall most of them then lol

Do you also have your 3G always on? I always turn mine off when I don't use it. Also conserves battery
But yes 350 is a crap ton.

As with most phones, apps in background will kill battery, Screen on/brightness.. Times of no signal. Things of that nature.. When rooted i usually set background processes to 1 or 2 running at most.. Sign outta Gtalk (It's an auto sign in), Notifications (FB, and such) off (unless you really want on) Sync durations to longer intervals (Emails and such) i usually set mine to 4 hours or more, weather sync as well.. Those things will help improve life some what as well. No i don't have the S3 yet, Currently on an S2 (S3 comes Sat) but these are common things across the realm that will help.

Everything he said is true. Limit your processes which also helps a lot but not with 350 apps.

If streaming Pandora gotta have that connection... I typically run Juice Defender to auto disables 3g with screen off, enables when screen on.
My phone is tethered to a motorcycle battery, so my battery life is great.. Iittle hard to carry around a times.. but gets the job done.

Try using WiFI when you can more often, it actually consumes less battery than 3G, also download advanced task killer and only allow important apps to stay active when not using the phone, my battery life is easily 8-hrs even playing Internet Radio most of the day.

Horrible battery life. Help

Hopefully someone can help me.
My note (for awhile now) has been getting disgusting battery life. When i 1st got the phone i was getting awesome battery life. But for a few months now i have now (the battery life in the picture is what i normally get)
I know its not the rom as i have tried Clean Rom 5.0 which is 4.1.2. Ive tried Illusion 4.2.2 and now im on BeanStalk 4.3
All the roms give me the same battery life.
Here in the picture my phone was literately in my pocket the whole time. pretty much 0% usage from me.
is there anyway to see what in the "Android OS" is using so much battery?
Of course ...the subject of battery life is highly subjective ...but I'll have a go at it...
Given the statement that your battery life remains virtually the same across multiple platforms ...it leads me to believe the device itself may have an issue ...in particular the battery...
Are you using the original OEM battery ?? If yes ...it may be nearing end of life..or could suffer from cell damage for some reason...
First I'd try a replacement and test your battery life then...
But remember ...any true test needs a benchmark ...so choose a stock or near stock rom that we know about regarding performance etc...
Next ...eliminate any applications that are not absolutely necessary to use your phone ...and avoid Widgets along with live wallpapers...
Then....verify that you are in a good coverage area to the extent possible ...as the phone will "hunt" for signal and consume more power...
All things considered ...the battery is still the likely suspect...
I use a zero lemon battery ...since my stock battery just couldn't keep up any more ...and suffered greatly after about 5 months of heavy abuse by my flashing addiction...
Leave a good stock rom running for at least a week to stabilize the OS...and if battery life suffers ...replace it with a new one ...
Sorry that my reply is not more definative ...but battery drain issues are hard to diagnose without holding the phone in my hand....g

Os is definitely eating away. Download wakelock detector from the play store. Go into settings check advanced so u can see system wakelocks not just downloaded apps. Report back with a screen shot of the Wakelock detector tomorrow and I'm sure someone here can guide u in the right direction.....as long as it's not the battery. To me it just looks like u have a VERY nasty wakelock somewhere.
Just my opinion though

First thing when u open the app.... ur seeing apps and on the right is the awake time for each one. As long as u have advanced options checked in settings it will show what is keeping ur cpu awake. So as soon a as u open the app. Take a SS so we can see the system processes and the time awake for them. Just as soon as ur apps come up. Take a SS and post it

Ok. Ya. Usually my system processes are on top. Most awake time is Google services. That's how mine was. Except mine was awake for almost an hour and a half per charge cycle and wasnt even draining that bad. Try turning off Google services in location services in system settings for a day and see if battery life improves at all

Ahhh. Now that makes sense. Damn facebook. I believe that is how many times the app woke up ur phone. And the total time is the bar there. That'll do it. Which is I assume most normal people would charge their devices.

What Kind of Idle Battery Drain are You Getting?

Went to bed at 920p with 45% and woke up at 4a with 25%. That should not be right. The first night I lost 8%ish. This is my third day with the device.

Overnight, usually 6-7 hours, I'll lose 0-2% Definitely sounds like you have a rouge app doing some damage. I had that last week. Turned out to be a weather app continuously requesting location. I also turn off wifi and bluetooth scanning, as well as all the wifi request crap under wifi settings. Hope you get it sorted out.

Believe it or not, the native battery app monitor informed me of it. You may want to try the GSM battery monitor app from the play store to see if you can find out what's causing the drain.
