I am going to change my Nexus 5X this month and I was wondering what it the best option for me; my main interest is the camera; Pixel 2 shows an amazing camera, S8 too, and it include manual controls from scratch (thats a plus).
By the other hand the S8 has more Ram, SD slot and a very interesting display, plus, in my country the S8 is cheaper than the Pixel 2 (5" 64gb)
The Pixel 2 has a classic 16:9 display, more bezel, that is not a problem for me, but Im not fan of the black navbar in amoled (oled in this case) displays, the S8 has a white navbar and I guess that it helps to avoid burn in; Im sure that the Pixel 2 will be super fast and I love the stock android experience (I have been using Nexus since Galaxy Nexus, so, stock Android is basically the UI that I love haha))
This is a hard choise for me, I could go for more "flexible" and maybe interesting technology (S8) or I could go for an amazing user experience in a really nice design with and amazing camera and more simple options.
Whats your opinion? Pixel 2 XL should be perfect but it is way more expensive here and for that money I could just go for the S8 plus.
For me:
S8: *more atractive display design
*white navbar that helps prevent burn in
*more ram
*Sd slot
*really nice design, compact and accessories easy to find everywhere
*manual camera built in
Pixel 2: *amazing camera
*stock UI
*(maybe) faster in terms of usage
cons: - less screen-to-body ratio than my actual 5X
- no SD
- no manual controls
- black navbar
- no wider display
- less ram (and more expensive device)
Get S8! Vendors will give you almost all the features of stock android plus additional features that only they can provide. Pixel2 camera must be good, but S8 camera is not less than any other smartphone camera. Water resistance, infinity display, iris scanner, headphone jack and wireless charging are some of the features that you won't get in pixel2.
RAM is 4GB for both
iris scanner, and all that stuff it is cool to show off but after a week all go back to finger print
manual controls only drain battery
SD card is cool, can't argue with it
UPDATES - pixel will get updates for a couple of years, s8 will get updates until s9 is released
pixel is not that good looking but if you are happy with a nexus 5x I don't see a reason why you can't get used to pixel 2
Thank you guys and thanks for clarify the ram info.
Yes, both phones are amazing, Pixel 2 doesnt have a really long life (I know it cuz Im a Nexus user since 2013); a plus for the S8 is that in my country it costs 100 less than the Pixel 2 (5")
Manual camera is a feature that I really like (I have the upside down problem with the N5X with third party camera apps haha, kinda annoying and long exposure almost always fails and force close the app)
I love my Nexus 5X but I had a problem with it and the guarranty gave me back a 16Gb version WHEN I bought the 32gb version, and well, sometimes when I take pictures in HDR the camera doesnt respond that fast and sometimes HDR pictures doesnt save (Im sure that is due to ram memory) Im absolutly sure that with S8 or Pixel 2 the camera will always works like a charm; but anyways is a hard decition, I have a few day to decide, maybe i could check some reviews of the Pixel 2 first before decide, I tried the S8 and I had a really nice experience, but I want to know how it will works with a lot of apps, my N5X work flawless all time, the little problem with the camera is not always, just sometimes when I use ZSL HDR.
I'm all for a vanilla experience. When I used HTC and Samsung's phones before I would install close to stock ROMs all the time. However, if you can get the S8 for same or less than the Pixel 2 then yeah it's a better deal. Personally, I went with the Pixel 2 XL.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
for the beginning you will love the s8 and the Samsung features but it does not take long time and you will miss the pure Android and the possibilities of developers. after a few months, you do not feel like the hundreds of Samsung apps that monitor everything and run in the background.
you can install pure Android on the s8 too
but for that you do not need the s8.
for me would be the pixel 2 the favorite phone [emoji6]
In my book, the S8 beats Pixel 2 because for one, the S8 proves that you can have have an incredibly thin, light, bezel-free, waterproof phone with a headphone jack. S8 proves that the arguments presented by Apple and Pixel apologists are false. You can have it all, and a headphone jack. On the other hand, I am not a fan of S8's screen because its curves on the edges. So we have a phone that has a high native resolution resulting in such dpi that the human eye won't discern against either QHD or FHD, and yet we have to put up with the incredibly bad and clearly visible distortion at the edges of the screen? Where is the logic?
So I'd personally get myself a Oneplus 5 or the original Pixel, specially if Google offers good deals on it, now that they need to clear the space for Pixel 2.
Im still waiting for a full review of the Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL and a real usage camera review.
Right now I would like to buy the Pixel 2, but seems that the S8 is a better option and at least in my country, way cheaper
I would definitely choose pixel 2. I love the google experience!
Hello all,
I'm currently rocking a Pixel XL and I'm absolutely itching for an upgrade. I'm also a Project Fi user, which limits my choices on which phones I can use. I love the performance of my Pixel XL, along with the vanilla Android experience. Unfortunately, my Pixel XL purchase was a bit of a rushed decision due to me breaking my Nexus 5X the day before I took a road trip. I ran out to Best Buy and snagged this phone, which, while it's a great device, is a bit too wide of a phone for my liking. One handed use is a bit cumbersome. Not a dealbreaker, I don't regret my purchase one bit, but now that I'm looking to upgrade, I'd like to get something a bit smaller. Last year I helped a family member of mine phone shop and they landed on the LG G6. Even though it has a bigger screen than my PXL (6.0" > 5.5") it felt smaller in the hands, which I really liked. So, when Project Fi announced that the LG G7 ThinQ was coming to their network, I was naturally very curious.
Things that appeal to me about this phone
Headphone Jack (with the Quad DAC)
SD Card Slot
Loud Speakers
Bright Screen
Wireless Charging
Better Screen-to-Body ratio while remaining slightly smaller than my current phone.
Detractors
Skinned OS (No app drawer?)
Small(er) battery
Less-than-stellar Camera
Non-OLED screen
I would've pulled the trigger already but I'm also curious about the new Pixel phones being released 3-4 months from now. From leaked information it looks like the new XL will be too big of a phone, but the regular Pixel 3 is supposed to be nearly what I'd consider a perfect size (much like my N5X was). Other than that we don't know too much about the new phones to know whether or not they'll be worth waiting for but I'm willing to wager there will be a huge price tag associated with them. So I'm still very much on the fence.
So, I figured some input from former Pixel or Nexus owners who have moved on to this device would prove to be very helpful in my purchase decision.
Any input is appreciated, Thanks!
I have had the N5X, pixel, pixel xl, pixel 2 xl, and like you prefer AOSP. I have found the G7 to be acceptable through use of nova launcher with the companion app for Google now. I also like the ability to have themes, I have found a material black theme that is very well done and a whole lot better than the bright colors of AOSP.
The battery has been a little inconsistent for me but seems to have settled down, now easily getting me through a long day. The camera is no pixel, although the wide angle is neat. Overall I like the g7 over the pixel 2 xl or pixel, although my dream phone would be an essential phone 2 (assuming the problems with the ph1 were solved) as even the g7 is a bit bigger than I want.
As far as "unthemed" Android phones go, I had the Nexus S, Moto X, Nexus 4, and Nexus 6P before getting the G7. I was hoping to wait for the Pixel 3 or potentially the Motorola One Power with AndroidOne, but since the volume rocker on my 6P was damaged (and the battery life was declining fast), I grabbed the G7 deal on Verizon. One thing I will say is if I was not on Verizon, I almost certainly would have picked up a OnePlus 6 instead. That being said, to address your detractor points:
Skinned OS - the built-in launcher DOES have an app drawer version, it's just not set by default. Otherwise, I've been using Lawnchair V2 that has Google Feed integration without a companion app.
Small(er) battery - haven't had any problems with battery life so far; I usually end the day anywhere between 50% (low usage) and 20% (extremely high usage). However, I would be surprised if anyone was able to consistently hit two days between charges.
Less-than-stellar camera - I'm not very picky on the camera, but I have noticed it is just a hair slower to open than my wife's Galaxy S8 (using double-tap power button). Image quality is good; I'd say it's better than my 6P was. I never use the AI Cam. The wide-angle lens is neat, but I haven't found a lot of use for it in day-to-day pictures.
Non-OLED screen - I haven't noticed this as much as I thought I would, even with Ambient Display turned on. The times that I do notice the LCD display is just before bed, if the lights are all off and Ambient Display hasn't turned off (I set mine to turn off from 11:00pm - 6:00am), you can see some light coming from the black portions of the screen. Overall, not a dealbreaker for me.
I'll add a few more points regarding the skinned OS concern:
The phone app is the most annoying part of the skin. I miss Google Dialer, and it's actually an app I use very regularly.
Lots of bloatware. I disabled/uninstalled almost everything, and replaced a lot with Google's apps (e.g., Calendar, Messages).
Settings is another heavily modified portion of the OS. However, in this case, I actually like LG's tabbed settings; I think it's more intuitive to navigate.

Themes are a huge plus. The eye-murdering bright white "Material" design is getting old very fast. As for the camera, I'm not a huge picture guy, but I do still find myself quite impressed with my Pixel's camera whenever I snap a quick photo. Would you say that you don't quite have the same reaction when taking pictures with your G7?

Appreciate the detailed reply!
Looks like you've echoed much of what reviewers have said as well in regards to battery life and camera. As I stated above, Camera quality isn't os the utmost importance but I do really like a fast shutter speed and I enjoy when a regular picture I take comes out great thanks to the sensor in my Pixel. If the G7 isn't capable of this, that will be a bit of a letdown, but not necessarily a dealbreaker. Backlight bleed is kind of expected with an IPS panel, it shouldn't be much of an issue. I do like that it gets extremely bright for daytime use. I totally forgot about third party launchers, which would alleviate my concerns about the lack of an app drawer or anything else almost completely. It's disappointing to hear about the bloatware, but at least you can disable or uninstall most of it and use the Google alternatives if need be.
It sounds like I should wait to see if Root and Bootloader Unlocking becomes a thing on the US version of this phone. If I could snag this device, unlock, root it, and flash an AOSP ROM I'd be very tempted to pull the trigger. These things take time, and time I have. The Pixels aren't being released until the end of October to begin with.
with substratum and andromeda i was able to theme the whole system black, including notifications. theming not an issue.
no camera will be as good as google's software allows the pixel to be. if you want the best camera, stick with pixel. everything else is second, including samsung and apple.

Another option if you don't want to use Substratum and Andromeda and are willing to pay a couple bucks: there is a thread with apps by NNG (I think?) that uses the LG theme engine that has a pretty good dark material/Pixel theme. I'm too lazy right now to use Andromeda (I know, I know...) but may go back and give it a shot if I get tired of the LG theme.
One more data point: the camera is still much, MUCH faster than my Nexus 6P was near the end of its life, so it's been a huge step up for me. Something that I did notice and have seen mentioned a couple times elsewhere is that certain photo modes take a little more time to save the picture. I've lost 2 food pictures this way when I closed the camera to quickly after using food mode and snapping a picture. Make sure you give it some time! I haven't noticed this when using the auto mode though (have not tired with AI cam or other modes).
Ok your pros list is spot on with this phone speaker and dac are phenomenal, I'll try to clear up the cons no OLED does suck but it's honestly not that bad. it's a really good display and gets bright as hell, the camera is pretty good (I do some photography in my spare time but to broke to get a real camera) probably not as good as a pixel but it holds it own I'd say give it some time it will probably get a Gcam port (hopefully) battery has been great I haven't had any problems. The skinned OS, LG UX isn't the best but it's not that bad and after throwing on a launcher on it I haven't had a problem. I hope I was able to give some insight if you have any questions feel free to PM me
I appreciate all of the feedback I've received so far. I might pull the trigger on this phone next week. Project Fi is now offering a $300 service credit when purchasing and activating this phone from them. This makes it very hard to wait for the Pixel 3 lol.
Had a pixel 2. It somehow ended up with the OS corrupted, and it was all stock. Last google device I'll ever buy. Went with a G7 nd have not looked back.

Glad to hear. I haven't had a non-Pixel or Nexus device in a long time. Ordered the G7 yesterday so I'm hoping I'm as happy as you all are with this device.
Former Pixel\Nexus guy here. With Bloaty LG stuff, some are able to disable, some are not like Contacts, Messaging, Calendar, Clock. I just put the Pixel 3 Rootless Launcher and works just well. This version of G7 actually lets you select which LG stuff you want from the phone setup process.

Sorry for the thread necro, but does anybody have a writeup about disabling the stock apps? I'm coming from using the Google versions of most stuff, and would be happy to ignore the LG stuff and keep using the Google ones -- but not so happy if I have to pick the right identically-named icon every time, and maybe get double notifications, "which app should I open this with" prompts, etc etc. I'd just as soon uninstall / disable them completely.

There's a thread about package disabler pro (lg)
I found one thread, with "it work I am using it" and not much else. Last night, I think I managed to "disable" the built-in calendar just by turning off its permission for calendar access -- it might keep its own local calendar data but as long as I'm not using it, I don't think it's going to bother me. Same with their mail client. I was also able to totally delete the preinstalled Facebook and Instagram (eww). Their Contacts, Calendar, and Clock apps seem fine (and actually pretty similar to stock) so I'll probably just keep using them. I'm on the fence about keeping the stock launcher, but I don't need a special lock-down / uninstall procedure to do that.

If you're interested in this phone just wait for the G8, it still has a skinned OS but you could always install pixel launcher and it would have an app drawer, battery is pretty big I think 3,500 mah, camera won't be as good as the newest pixel but with a gcam port you should be able to pull off some really good shots. The G8 has an OLED screen
I have had the Pixel 2 XL for a bit over a year now. Allready swapped it 2 times (Audio problems and Screen Problems) and begin to get annoyed by some aspects of it :
- The 3D-Wrapped-***-screen - This screen is bad. I slowly get used to it but find myself put off by how the colors look and how my 6P had a better screen. Thanks to the absurd 2.75D Screen curvature I cant get a proper Glass cover for it and have settled on a plastic protector. It looks horrible.
- Software bugs -> How come I still get random bugs / freezes on a Google Phone with Google software ? Why do icons sometimes disappear in the recents view ?
- Sound -> I loved the stereo speakers on the 6P, I hate those on the 2XL.
And many other gripes...
I have two choices right now :
- continue to RMA the phone each time something breaks (speakers are at it again I believe) and finaly get my money back after 4-5 times, like the 6P in the end (not a bad deal if you think about it).
- sell it and get somethign else (OnePlus 6 / 6T ? Pocophone F1 ? Mi 9 ? Other ?)
What are the aspects you hate on this phone ? Which one has you drooling right now ? Is there even still a phone with a flat screen (realy dont get this idiotic trend... same as glass backs without NFC / Wireless charging...)
Cheers !
I don't have software bugs on my Pixel 2 XL - no freezes, no disappearing icons, nothing. Works like a clockwork :good:
My speakers are decent, also no problems. I don't use them extensively, though. The screen is better after I had to replace it (dropped the phone on solid tiles), my original screen was from October 2017. But the original one was not too bad, I got used to it.
I never would replace my phone with a non-Google phone - never had such good software on an Android device. Not to speak of fast updates, some phones just got Android P and I can install Q meanwhile.
Remove that screen protector!
A few scratch still look 10000 times better than any screen protector

Samsung 10e seems to be phone for you if you are looking for one with a flat screen. Oneplus 6t is a good option too but doesn't have wireless charging and camera is mediocre compared to pixel.

If S10's camera is anything like the S9, then it's not much better than the 6t... It's amazing for videos, but for stills, nothing beats the Pixel (2 and 3)... This is coming from a photographer...

Yeah I'm aware of that. Pixel produces the most natural looking pictures.
It's a REALLY tough decision, in my opinion. I've been debating the same thing for a couple weeks now too. My big thing is front facing speakers, an absolute must for me. I've seriously considered the Razer 2 but I've recently decided against it. I have the opportunity to get a Pixel 3XL for next to nothing. I'll probably hop on that train. I love this phone too. I'm just ready to move on. My wife just got the S10+.... that's what's motivating me to upgrade. Beautiful phone but I need more freedom than what a Snapdragon Sammy provides...
I don't hate anything about the 2xl. The screen did have some issues but everything has been perfect with the warranty replacement I received last November. A headphone jack would be nice but not a deal breaker with the improvements in wireless earbuds. The front speakers weren't any better on my 6P and it felt like a less reliable phone due to potential battery and bootloop issues. I prefer the overall design and build quality of the 2xl. I'll wait for the Pixel 4 before I think about a new phone.

This sums up my situation perfectly. My 2xl is working fantastic and no current phones really give me that special feeling. Patiently waiting for pixel 4xl
1. Never used a screen protector since I got the phone October 2017. Thought I would miss it since I had been using tempered glass for years but I don't and my screen is just fine.
2. No bugs or freezes here. The only time I ever even restart is the monthly updates. Way better aging experience than my previous Nexus 5X or any other phone as a matter of fact.
3. It's stereo speakers and gets loud and clear enough. If I want louder I cast it to my any number of speaker I have around the house.

Like the above post, same feelings here.
The screen protector dilemma is my biggest issue. Searching Amazon, it's hard to find a good one. I really don't want to purchase another one, so I've been rocking the same screen protector for quite some time, even though it's dirty. I don't watch anything on here worth quality(Netflix, Hulu, etc) and mainly use Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth speakers.
Just recently, my father has gotten an S10 through those buy 1 and get 1 deals, but it's too complicated for him, so I've been thinking of setting my Pixel up clean for him and swapping, but it's just hard to leave Google after being with them for so long, lol.

Before i ordered the pixel 2 xl, i read its review on gsmarena and this was quoted " overall, we're looking at some of the best audio outputs we've ever seen. " After purchase, i started seeing all sorts of negative reviews concerning it's audio quality using wired headphones.
On one hand, i am filled with excitement that i will be owning this great phone and on the other , i am confused, saying to myself, what have you just done?
As real owners of this device, i felt that this is the right place to be. Please can someone speak his mind? Thanks.

I come back to pixel for three things
1) camera 2) software which is best among android 3) speedy update s
I hate or dislike few things
)Ear piece is of poor quality i.e low volume and call clarity is average ..it was so great on iphone xr
2) loudspeaker is not good as compare to competitors i.e s9 plus, iphone , U11 etc, p20 pro etc. Its same for audio output from headphone. I will not recommend this phone to music lovers
3) brightness is low . You really need to drag the brightness slider to maximum to make it bright especially indoor
4) design is boring but then its more practical
So i guess every phone will have its pros and cons and no phone will be perfect in every thing . I am saying this after using so many flagships and switching from one to others ..there will be always some compromise so just look what matter to you most in phone and then select phone based on those requirements
Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the OnePlus 8, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the OnePlus 8 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
My review of an OP8.
OK - here's my 4 day review of my OnePlus 8. Just FYI, I had (and still have) a OnePlus 5, whic I will probably give to my Father.
Day 1. The box arrives. I ordered one of the PopUp boxes which has in it two extra backs (green and black) as well as a transparent one. It also comes with the OpenPLus Z headphones. It's a large box and came in an even larger cardboard box with padding.
I unboxed it and checked - it had 51% charge, so I deemed it OK to start installing. It connected to my network and immediately did an O/S upgrade. All the normal Android stuff then proceeded and I was up and running.
I used InePlus switch to get all my apps and data across from the old OP5. The only thing it missed was all my WhasApp history - but that may be because I installed it first.
Day 2. I'd fully charged it during the day and I left it unplugged overnight. It lost 5%. Considering it's a new device, I thought that was OK. So, out for a walk to check the GPS (my OP5 would not work properly) and see how the camera was. GPS still suffered and I was considering sending it back. See Day 3. Camera is lovely. Just having OIS is a vast improvement and the quality is well acceptable for a phone (I'm a camera nut and have some quite good ones). I'll play more later. I ordered a 5G sim.
Played with the OP Z headphones. They are nice but a bit bassy. So, as I use VLC and that has an equaliser, I turned the bass down a bit - and that made all the difference.
Day 3. Decided that OnePlus can't have screwed up GPS that badly. So investigated. I found that GPS was set to 'advanced' which meant it pulled in location information from phone masts and wifi. Not sure how that makes it advanced, so I disabled it. Went out for another walk with my tracking app - no issues. Humm. I wonder if my OP5 would have done that?
Played with panorama mode. It's interesting, but I'm not sure I'll use it much as it curves everything around the horizon which is not what I expected. Tried out the slo-mo mode. Yes, I can see some uses for that.
Played around with the screen. Decided I don't like curved screens that much as the edges (where it tails away) are hard to press and that's where odd things are that you need to press. But I guess I'll get used to it. Tried my Kindle app. It went over the camera. OK - set it so the screen doesn't include the camera, but it would be nice if that could be done pn an app by app basis rather than all or nothing. OnePlus decided I needed yet another O/S upgrade, so I let it do that.
Day 4 - Out for another walk, this time with a couple of Garmin devices. GPS is still OK - a bit optimistic (it gave me 2.6 miles where Garmin gave me 2.5) but that may be the app. Had my OP Z headphones on - very comfy. Played more with the camera. The macro is really good. 2x is OK, more than that, I won't bother.
Tried my Readly app (magazine reading) whic doesn't really suit the phones aspect ratio. Oh yes, tried making phone calls. Call quality is superb.
I've ordered a flip case. Should be here by the end of May (has to come from China).
Overall? If I'd know what I know now, I'd probably have ordered a 7T but only because it has a flat screen, and I'd lose out on the 5G (which we have in my area). The PopUP version gave me £100 worth of freebies which was nice.

How is the overall size and weight of the device compared to the OnePlus 5?

The curved edges is the only thing putting me off from buying this phone. Would have already ordered one otherwise. Almost bit the bullet and ordered one anyways, thinking maybe I wont hate the curved edges that much, but since you've already done that for us I'd rather just get your impression first. I'm considering getting the OP7T, Realme X2 Pro, Oppo Ace2 or Poco F2 Pro at this point, do you think you would have liked one of these flat display phones more?
I've got used to the curved edge and don't really notice it any more. Is it better than at 7T? I can't really say, but considering I use my headphones when out and they are really comfy, I'm glad I got the boxed set on day 1.
At the moment, the only irritating thing is the display - the adaptive stuff doesn't really work (too granular) but I have to use it in bright sunlight as it seems to be brighter with it on. But even that is very minor. Battery life is very good. With all my apps loaded and just display off, it loses less that 0.4% each hour. (in 12 hours of not using it, it lost 4%). That's with Wifi and bluetooth turned on and a poor 4G signal.
It's had 3 or 4 O/S upgrades since I bought it. Which is good as it means OnePlus are on the ball. I'm just waiting for Wifi Calling to be enabled in the UK (OnePlus - are you listening here?).

Coming from an OP6, I'm slightly finding it hard to love. Or love as much.
I had the OP5, went to OP6 and I loved the changes.
Now going from the 6 to the 8, not sure I made the right choice!!
Let me explain..
1. The 6 was far easier to hold, the 8 just feels a bit cumbersome compared.
2. The fingerprint sensor on the 6 was amazingly good. On the 8, it's not as accurate, on the wrong side, and at night it's like the flash light coming on. Should have kept it at the back. But I suppose Apple got rid of it so OnePlus had to pretend it got rid of it too.
3. The curved screen is just annoying, as selecting anything on the curved part is bound to fail on the first try.
4. No head phone socket? Just why? Again I suppose Apple got rid of it so OnePlus had to copy.
5. The new sandstone cover isn't as thin, looks a bit budget and rather chunky like the old bumper covers. Without the cover is very slippery and hard to hold.
6. No more notification LED on the 8, Oneplus phones don't have an always on display, so the LED light was a nice feature. Now you get neither.
I'll keep using it, hopefully will get used to it more..

That's something I've always wondered.. why use a screen side fingerprint scanner. Backside ones are easier to use, faster and more accurate.
I don't have any issues with the fingerprint reader where it is. I came from a OP5 so I guess I'm just used to it being there.

There are some really good Apps available to use the pixels around the camera for notifications. Give that a try.
What apps can do that?

Yes.
Can add LED simulation by default, in pro more flexibility to choose icons of apps as notification and size can be changed. I ended up using LED option though i purchased premium.
It definitely serves the purpose as a notification LED. no issues so far. Battery usage is also less.

Hey,
I have a 7T and I'm considering the 8 for the 5G, the 12 GB of RAM, the great battery life, and the slightly lighter weight, but the curved edge can be turn-off, and of course the 8 Pro is heavier and more expensive.
What are your thoughts on the 8 after almost a year? Are you rocking a case? Would you make that switch from a 7T if you had it?
No, I wouldn't switch. I don't think it's enough of a leap. To be honest, my OP5 was nice enough apart from the camera and the GPS, both of which were substandard. I think the 7T is plenty good enough. I have only ever had a 5G signal once since I got it and 4G seems to be fine.

Anyone like me coming from having OnePlus phones for a while missing it? Seriously think I might switch back to OnePlus when the new phone launches in a couple weeks. Anyone else miss having the alert slider, a better gaming mode where notifications aren't all up in your business and off screen gestures?
Only thing I miss from my 7 pro was the fingerprint sensor.
I'm getting the muscle memory down with the s20+ now though. I really like my s20+
I miss the well thought-out, light and fast at everything nature of OOS no matter what all other phones I use.

i don't miss anything
I loved my OnePlus 6t, I might of stuck with them..but the minute I saw the curved screen rubbish I was out. Granted the S20+ has a slight curve but nothing drastic.
Loved oos..it's the slickest and most fluid operating system out there beyond pure android. Battery was great. Fingerprint and facial recognition much better but..the camera was just "ok"..
To be fair if I wasn't on Nightshift bored off my face getting all exciteable I may well still have my 6t
Edit- yes the alert slider..very handy
Not missing my 7T Pro McLaren. Especially because of that crazy curved display that was so annoying. Software is quick and snappy but overall Samsung's package is just more refined and polished. Plus, Micro SD support is king, IMO. I have a ton of music and other files I rather keep locally than rely on the cloud. But that's just me.
Last year I jumped around several OP phones. I like them and the alert slider is nice but I never had a real need to regularly change my alert settings enough to need a dedicated switch. Having wireless charging back is also welcomed. I like just dropping my phone on my charging pad so quickly when I'm not using my phone. Always staying charged.
I do think OP phones are a great backup device option, though. I may pick up a 7T again to keep as my secondary.
