I am looking to purchase a USB-C docking station with the hopes to charge, project display via hdmi to monitor, and use a usb keyboard and mouse with the tablet at workstations in my office.
Has anyone had success with a certain dock? I cant seem to find any feedback online. I have the keyboard case. But my goal is to have an even bigger display for Remote Desktop.
Thanks everyone.

I hope this works generically on all Android 3.1+ Tablets rather than a limited subset of supported Tablets. If it works with the Tab 10.1 then creating a docking station at home would be so straight forward. Keyboard and mouse connected via Bluetooth and then connected to monitor via HDMI cable. It would avoid the need of Samsung's desktop dock accessory which will probably be quite expensive.
I'm pretty sure I can do 95% of things at home on the Android tablet while the other 5% I can get away with remoting into a headless Windows PC from the Android tablet.
Interesting. Thanks for the link.
Reaching for the tablet screen to manipulate has always seemed a weakness of the wireless/bluetooth tablet keyboards. Maybe a keyboard with embedded touchpadcould remove the need for a separate device (mouse).

It would definitely work on the 10.1
You may even try other brands of mice, the 3.1 software should be compatible, but it will be hit or miss.
So far, Samsung desktop dock accessory looks better than the others in my opinion, but it's not rechargeable so you can't bring it with you on a trip and that's a big negative.
Why would the desktop dock accessory need to be rechargeable? I would have assumed that any power it needs will be drawn from the Tab or from mains if it is connected to power (which would also charge the Tab at the same time). I really hope that the desktop dock provides USB ports for keyboard and mouse as well as HDMI connection to a monitor and thus it gives full docking functionality.
With regards to Logitech's bluetooth mouse, I didn't know standard Bluetooth supported mice. The fact that they do probably means we'll see cheaper devices coming out and possibly a Bluetooth dongle/device that will allow cheap USB keyboards/mice to be plugged in instead.
Time will tell I'm sure.

Do you have a link to look at it?
Also, is it for sale already? Where?

Well, if it would be rechargeable it would just be a nice plus - to use it on planes or somewhere where you don't have a plug.
It looks like this model doesn't have a USB connection - probably the same port that's on the galaxy tab itself.
I also saw another keyboard on a video that's more of a folded case, hope that one is portable.
I've been searching for a dock with both hdmi & usb/otg port on it. I wan't one so I can fast plug it into my television and use wireless keyboard at the same time.
Problem is that I can't find one with both, doesn't this exist?

I havent seen one pre-built this way...but if you find the Moto dock there should be a way to solder this in without schematics.
Best of luck.
The dock you are looking for does not exist. You can (somewhat easily) mod the HD Speaker Dock to do this, but then the speakers probably won't work (since they use the USB port for audio). Just get a Bluetooth keyboard, problem solved.
Try this, I might buy it myself.
USB Sync Charge Dock Cradle for Motorola XOOM tablet wifi
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
Looks neat, but no HDMI, and how the Hell would you charge a second Xoom battery? They aren't removable (without a torx screwdriver anyway)...
with all the coverage the motorola laptop has been getting these days (google: motorola lapdock rikomagic or motorla lapdock raspberry pi )
I got one to toy around with it my self. I'd really like it to work with MHL devices. Thats the moment I found out that MHL's micro usb in is to charge the device and get the HDMI out to work, but doesn't pass though and more usb data though. I imagine the bandwidth is too great.
So as a consolation I thought it would be cool if the lapdock's mouse and keyboard were bluetooth, then i could connect to its display with hdmi, and control the phone with the bluetooth input.
Does anyone know if there is a generic usb device that allows you to connect a USB keyboard and mouse and then transmits though bluetooth? alternatively does any one know of any relevant mods that might help me hack this together?
The problem with MHL is that it uses the electrical path from the USB connection.
The problem is not bandwidth, it's wires.
All of the funny things that plug into a micro USB connector just use the same 5 pins that are already there and repurpose them.
This includes "Carkit", which is the analog headset/ handsfree connection or MHL.
usb flash is also possible to connect and then not get what you
If you wanted to be really hard-core you could add another micro USB connector to your phone.
You'd have to pick off the USB signals as they come out of the PHY interface and before the main connector multiplexer.
Or you could get the guts out of a trashed BT keyboard and wire it to your Lapdock keyboard.
You wouldn't have to get the layout correct, you could just fix /system/usr/keylayout.

I looked and haven't found one. However, during the search I found the KBtalKing Pro mechanical keyboard that solved my problem (well, when it is officially released next month)--it will allow me to use it as my main desktop keyboard (which should be great to type on due to the use of mechanical keys), and also pairs up to 10 devices via Bluetooth as well as one main USB device (probably the main computer). Looks like I'd be able to type on my Android, iPhone 4, PC or Mac simply by pressing a couple of buttons on the keyboard to switch over.
Probably not the economical USB to BT conversion you were looking for, but it's a solution and then some.
You can check out handheldsci com/kb it looks like what you want.
Hi,
Did someone try up this handheldsci adapter ?? It looks indeed as the solution to use any input device/combo without using the usb connection (very useful for smartphones).
Is there a dock that charges and does hdmi out? Thinking this would be cool to play emulators or GTA on my big screen, paired with a wiimote or ps3 controller
To connect to the a TV you will need an MHL to HDMI adapter like this. I'm not sure if it charges at the same time, but it should, being that it connects via the USB port on the phone. If you search around the web, you'll definitely find much affordable deals. Cheers!

at least, if not charge, it maintains the charge level.
from your link:
The HDTV Smart Adapter supports HD signals up to 1080p. Connects directly to a standard HDMI cable for easy connectivity to home theater or monitor. Requires power from a wall charger. Can connect directly to your MHL-Enabled mobile phone to create an HDMI docking station. Requires wall charger (sold separately) to power the adapter while in use. (HDMI cable not included)”

There are some other brands, more afordable. Have any one tested any of them?

You cannot connect more than one USB cable to your phone, so unfortunately that is not possible. Which controller exactly do you need to connect to your phone?
If by any chance you are planning to use a PS3 controller, pairing it with your phone through Bluetooth and using the Six Axis Controller app is the best way to go.
Edit: In that way, you will still be able to connect the phone to your TV via the MHL cable
if you hsve a frys electronics in your town, they have this item for $24. WORKS WELL.
So I attempted to connect my device to a portable monitor via a USBC docking station. The monitor has a micro HDMI in and a USBC port that supports video. The docking station has an HDMI out port that I was attempting to use.
My set up was: I connected the Redmagic 8pro to the docking station via USBC, then the docking station to the monitor via HDMI to Micro HDMI.
The phone is saying that it IS casting but I am not getting any video on the monitor.
I have tested just connecting the phone to the monitor with no docking station using a USBC cable only and it works just fine.
I tested the dock with a different device with the same set up as before and was able to connect with no issues.
Obviously I can just connect via USBC and call it a day but I would like to use the dock because I would also be able to charge my phone and connect USB peripherals as well as the monitor.
Does anyone have any idea why the I can't connect using the dock and the HDMI connection?
I have tried with 2 different Steam Deck docking station from Amazon and HDMI was not working.
I am suspecting a usb alt mode driver issue. The phone also gets a bit lost like charging - disconnected -charging -....
The ethernet, storage, keyboard mouse are working but in the Android logs I dont see any HDMI related logs, so since I was able to build the Linux kernel (with the DP alt mode module), I have to flash, test again but it takes time for me .
I am a bit disappointed that it does not work from the begining, but it is a good step that Nubia is releasing the kernel source code.
The only solution I am aware from reviews is to use a direct HDMI to USBc adapter
Thank you for the reply. It is very unfortunate because without being able to connect to the dock you cannot charge the device while connected to a monitor. Have you tried using any non Steam Deck docking stations, just out of curiosity? I am considering trying a couple. It is probably a waste of time but this is a very frustrating issue and I have not been able to find anything close to a solution.
An Update! I found a dock that I was able to use to successfully connect my device to my portable monitor. I will link all of the hardware I am using, please share with any other users attempting to use a similar set up.
