Which GCam? What settings? Could you please share?
So I got in touch Xiaomi regarding this issue. They told me to do Hardware test. And /or do factory reset.
oh it's really weird... so they do not approve somehow they've broken proper focusing after pie upgrade!
i stumble same complaints on other xiaomi phones too, which recently got pie upgrades... hope they will fix the issue on next OTA.

Did you really expect an useful answer from Xiaomi?
These are answers I got from Xiaomi:
What kind of display glass is used with the Mi A2 Lite? --> Do a factory reset!
What's the purpose of Diaglogger? --> Do a factory reset!
Where can I get official support in Germany? --> Do a factory reset!
The weather is bad, what can I do? --> Do a factory reset!

DiscontinuedTomorrow the Global Public Beta of MIUI 10 8.7.12 releaed for second batch including our Redmi 5 Plus/Note 5 (India). As at time of MIUI 1st release Xiaomi was announced the support of AI Portrait Mode will be added also for single camera smartphone. But unfortunately they never include Redmi 5 Plus in the list of devices getting AI Portrait Mode. From 8.7.12 update the users were hoping that they will get portrait mode but there was nothing except disappointment.
But I've a really big and good news for every Redmi 5 Plus (vince) lover. I made possible to install/enable AI Portrait Mode on Redmi 5 Plus MIUI 10 (tested on 8.7.10/8.7.12)
At now the portrait mode working only on front camera, soon it'll be available for back camera as well
Requirements:
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP or Orange Fox Recvoery

This mod replaces build.prop so the edit to enable camera2api will be gone and you need to edit it again.
I did everything but my camera is still the same as if nothing happened. No portrait for me. ??
When will the portrait mode on the back camera be available for vince?
The front camera portrait is working like a charm though. Thanks for sharing.

I experimented with removing the Magisk v16, the portrait mode will be removed as well. I hope someday it will work without Magisk v16 being flashed. Because later did I know, I have apps that is not compatible with Magisk v16. Oh well.

2 things:
1. Did you guys are not getting it with your dual camera? You were almost the first ones on getting that. If you mean in the front camera, you should wait for update as you are not on MIUI.
2. Why do you ask on a Vince forum, where you are going to get most likely Vince users?? The best way to find out is trying it as no one here, who make mods, are making it or even testing them on different models. If not, go ahead and ask on the Mi A1 forum.
Can't we have it on custom roms?

Hi everyone, has anyone got a good, or best, configuration for the GCam for the Mi A2 Lite and a guide on how to load it? I've found the selfie cam pictures pretty bad and noisy and I have no idea how to fix it. Perhaps I've installed the wrong version of GCam?
My phone runs Lineage OS.

I'm on Stock Pie here. Currently running on mgc_6.2.030_b-s-g-based_v.0.2_tlnneun.
Works great except:
- the front camera doesn't work with HDR+
There are guides here on the forum on how to install it.
(For Q)
Mod 1
@tarkzim has released LineageOS 17 for our Mi Max and i have tried a lot of gcam 7 versions. But all of them are force stopping. So after so many tries i found a gcam 7 which is working fine in this phone
Link to Gcam 7:
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_4.0.191101.0729build-7.0.009_x9_s9s_mod_0.42.apk
It's not stable and does frees the phone sometimes, but when it works it works fine. I Haven't tried astrophotography
Mod 2
I got another gcam 7 which is working great in mi max.
I tested/used it in android q only till now. So i don't know about android pie.
Link:

Mostly everything is working except slow-motion, astrophotography (i think astrophotography is a long shot for our device to work on)
(For Pie)
Hey, Everyone
Recently I was searching for a Google Camera Mod, and I have tried a few. But when some lacked quality others lacked new features, advance settings. And somehow I came across this Google Camera.. ( It's almost stable and it works great )
And all the credit goes to the developer of this mod.
I'm just sharing their app to you guys
Slow motion doesn't work ??
HDR,Night sight,time lapse all works

The HDR works even better

I didn't change too much settings..
I increased HDR strength, saturation,
and enabled raw, night sight suggestion, lens clean suggestion.
And some minor changes. It's still not perfectly stable.
But I have a note 5 pro and this gcam works perfectly and the pictures are incredible
thanks i will try
edit:- check this gcam

1, Unlock your bootloader
2, Root your phone
3, Install camera2api
That's it.
I'm sure someone must have made a video on this topic.search on YouTube.
Oh and my device is mi max 1 so the company didn't release miui11 for this device. So i cant test it by my self

Of course I did the points 1 and 2 already.
In Android 9 I just had to flash a zip to enable camera2 api. But in Android 10 it's not working.
What do you mean with install camera2 api. In my understanding it is implemented in Android and has to be enabled in the build.prop. I did it with the flashing.
Still noone with experience in Android 10?

If the method with magisk is not working... Add the camera 2 api command to your build.Prop manually.
I did the same this with my MiA2 running stock os.
Now it works amazing

I tried this as well.
Which lines did you add, or which lines did you alter?
I think the problem is Android 10, in the previous version it was no problem.

Also if your gcam is force closing check if it's the issue of the apk or cam2api via Manuel camera compatibility.
If that didn't help
Check if you have this line in your build prop
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=0
If you do change the "=0" to "=1"
persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1

Also keep waiting somehow because even used a module for Magisk 20.2 channel Canary but even this version still works on Android 10 Q.

As I wrote, I tried that solution, but to no avail.
There must be another way for Android 10.
BEST GCAMv7 FOR MI MAX
I tried all the suggested version none of them were stable. Some crashed, some rebooted the device, some had issues with video and almost every gcamv7 was not even opening. I was using DMGC gcam on my MiA2. I randomly tested it on my Helium and it worked flawlessly ! Even astrophotography is working ! It's not that great but it works ! Some ISO issue with video but when you keep the frame rate to auto. It fixes. I even supported the developer for such a masterpiece I am so pleased ! Thanks Dmitry Garvilo aka the_dise.
Just download it!
DMGC_7.3.020_ver.4.1.apk

If you have a custom rom or rooted it may cause problems with Netflix as they don't want people getting it for free with a hack.
Try a reset as long as you can backup your data, A android phone alway seems to run smoother after a reset.
I have a Redmi Note 8 (ginkgo) - 6GB/128GB.
It came with India A9 MIUI 11 ROM. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed many A10 and A11 ROMs. Now Video Recording is less clear in my phone. I am now on crDroid A10 ROM.
Video is less clear and zoomed than photos. Tried many ROMs A10 and A11, many cameras also ANXCamera, trcam, GCam, MIUI Camera, etc, but this issue still persists. I also checked on MIUI 12 Global A10 ROM.
Flashed Latest Firmware.
I have attached a photo to understand this issue.
