internal storage issue - Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra Questions & Answers

Hi there
After rooted my sony xperia xa1ultra I'm having problems with the internal storage
When I make a backup with titanium for copying it later to the external sd and remove it from internal storage
My phone can't resize it well and keep on considering that space as occupied after I have let it free removing the backup
What can it be?
What can I do?
Thank you

Can't you just make titanium put the backup on the SD and skip the internal storage?

I tried, but I can't... Titanium doesn't recognize external sd like a valid storage

Before I try this I would like to know if you know a way to fix the real problem because if I do what you suggest me I'll solve temporary the problem but it's sure I'll have issues in the future. I add a picture where you can see how my pc can neither size the internal storage of my phone
Thank you

Well I'm elimating one issue. You have to trouble shoot

microsd card damaged suddenly !!!!

a microsd card 8GB class 4 came with my phone
today after I took a picture with the phone camera I forwarded to see but no sd card
I connected it to PC then the windows asked me to format ... I wondered the the card space became 30.6MB !!!!
and cannot be formatted .
I tried many ways to recover the sd card such as SDFormatter v3 , DriveRestore_Professional , EASEUS Partition Master , and more ... without benefit !!!
can any one explain what happened with the solutions if possible please
Try using the formatting option on your Phone, or you could try CWM to do it too.
Try doing what XD suggested, if that didn't work, try formatting with another pc
I tried to format using CWM and using 3 PC's (win7 & xp) without any benefit
That happened to me once.
if possible You have to connect the SD card directly in your computer (SD Adaptor or any SD card reader).
If you're using windows, you have to go to control panel--> Admins tools, and then go to disk partitions. There you have to identify your SD card on the list and eliminate all partitions that could be on your SD card. Then you have to create a new partition on that SD and the format it.
There you go.

Maybe, maybe not, if it's not faulty then there's no reason why it wont, and if other users on the thread of whatever ROM, kernel or both you're using have reported the same issue then I don't see why it wouldn't. Given that you've already said that you've tried everything suggested I suspect it's a faulty card, but you're never going to know unless you try.
thanks anyway for you all
Format in linux You must of tried turn you sd card into ram thing or ext overload at lease it will tell you what is wrong with your sd

What are you using on your PC to format your SD? I always use this, and have never had any problems with it. It is free, so you might as well give it a try.

Is there a "Read/Write" switch on the SD Card? Check on the side of the card, maybe it's placed into Read-only which prevents you from formatting/writing to it
That is "IF" it has one that is...

I can't say anything about the RAMDUMP never did that so I don't know what it's supposed to do or what it does to SD Card.
Maybe try to see if you can get it formatted on a Linux system? But even downloading a live disk is still a lot of trouble to go through just to format a card
I thought maybe it could just have been write protection on the adapter that came with the SD Card. The small card itself won't have it but the adapter that you get with the card has the switch.

Is there a best way to move Apps to SD? Without

Without anything left in internal!!
Some of the app data is stored in internal memory. But app can be moved to external SD card.
Use Link2sd application, available on play store.

hitman-xda
I am sure this requires root access however does this app work and is it helpful in moving apps from internal memory to external sd card?

Yeah! It works great. And works after rooting phone.
But first you need to setup your sdcard. Like partitioning sdcard.
And you should not remove card after moving apps or you need to reboot your phone.

Android Marshmallow: Format external SD card as internal

Hello there
I formatted my external SD card as internal in Marshmallow (CyanogenMod 13) and I'm able to access it from the device, however when I plug the device into the computer, I can only see the internal storage rather than the external as well. What can I do about this? The reason I am asking is because I took a backup of the External SD Card before I formatted it as internal and I'd like to put everything back (music, pictures, applications, etc.).
Thanks for your time.

If I were you I would reformat it back to portable storage because I heard that there can be problems with formatting as internal. Not sure if what I heard is true or not but I would just reformat it back to portable. Then, hopefully it should show up through USB.

@JazzieBoi you're right, using it as part of the internal storage turned out to be too much of a hassle; it's back to portable for me even though it won't allow me to write to it in Titanium Backup and other apps. Thanks for your input.

Yeah when I store my titanium backup folder on my external with Marshmallow I noticed that when you go into the TB settings and look at the backup folder it says that is isn't writable. Its must be some new permission to deal with the External sdcard on Marshmallow because on Lollipop I never had this problem.

You can fix this by going to Preferences -> Backup Folder Location. At the top of this window there is a "Storage provider" section. Click on this and then change it to "DocumentProvider storage", then find and choose your Titanium Backup folder. This resolved the issue on my LG G4 running Marshmallow and I was able to take my backups.

SD card issue...

Not sure if it's rom related or not... But when I make a backup in TWRP and try to restore anything It just sits on the lg boot screen. Perhaps a suggestion on what file system people are using with their external SD cards? Ext2, 3,4...etc..

I've had the same issue so never make backups to the external SD card. I noticed that the backup file size isn't even the same compared to backups to internal storage.
Backup to internal and then move to external. I haven't had issues restoring from external storage but it will probably be much slower.
