Need help resolving bootloop! - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

I recently was testing to see if the fake location spoofing worked for pokemon go. I have root using the method on the forum here. I disabled the fused location services to prevent rubber banding. After rebooting the device the phone is now in a bootloop. I know I can probably resolve by using the recovery to restore to stock but i'd like to avoid that because I don't have all of my data backed up (oops). I'm assuming because of the timing I would just need to enable the fused location service again to resolve it. Is there anyway to do that? I read that it can be done though ADB but I have no way of getting into ADB.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Advanced phone protections - Questions about securing your data...

With all the talk of police being able to access your phone, I looked in to the options.
I found I could use the following options....
1) unlock password.
bypassed by: if the police dont have your PIN or unlock pattern, Google can be required to provide your email ID/PW to enable unlock
2) encrypted phone
bypassed by: I am unsure how this can be bypassed. If encryption is turned on, I know it breaks CWM, but is there any way to get by it w/o knowing the PIN? Is there any reset besides a wipe of the phone, which would clear any P.I.I. on the phone, wouldn't it?
3) recovery
bypassed by: if you cant get in to the phone, and choose instead to boot into recovery, you can get access to the phones data, but how much access? If you encrypted your data, will this bypass anything? Will the data still be encrypted.
What I would love to see possible, is a PIN for recovery that is a stand alone item with no way to reset it. I know this mean you would have to ODIN if you every forgot it, but if you are more concerned about protecting your data, than data loss, this would be a non-issue, as long as your data is protected
So, is the recovery lock even needed? does encrypting your data and your SD card get the protection needed to prevent access to your phone by authorities, even with Google's help?
I would love to see some security and developers views on this, and on how "safe" you can make your phone if you go all out.
No ideas anyone?
If not.. any ideas where I can go look for answers?

what would kind of be an example of what your trying to hide from the cops? there is an app or a couple apps that can literally hide your data, and unless they knew the back door functionality of the apps, they would be able to access much data. i use a couple of them.

It was less about hiding specific data, and more about locking down your phone in general, as in what was possible.
I was interested in how well it could be done, what would need to be put in place, and how secure it really was.

Galaxy S4 will not boot past the load screen/Blue LoD

I tried to fix the google play store error by using the steps provided online (that seemed to work for most people) and now my phone will not boot past the initial galaxy screen. The screen goes blank and then I see a solid blue LED light at the top left of the phone.
I would like to know if backing up files at this point is possible, because I'm assuming the only true fix is a factory reset.
I was told that android has a built in fail-safe that would still allow me to access the files through a PC via USB. That has not worked for me. My computer shows nothing. I wonder if there is a way to reinstall just the android operating system (much like you would do with a windows pc) so that no files are erased and just the OS is reinstalled.
I've tried booting in safe mode, tapping the menu button doesn't do anything.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated. I'm ok with performing a factory reset, I'd just like to back up images and audio files before doing so.
Thanks

What play store error were you trying to fix and what exactly did you do to try and fix it?
It sure sounds like you've managed to wipe the internal memory clean. If so your only hope is to use Odin to restore it back to stock. If it works it'll work great but you will lose everything on the phone. Though again it really sounds like you have nothing on the phone.
The only other thing to try would be using Odin to flash a recovery. Then boot into recovery and see if you can back up the data partition. If that works you can use the recovery to reinstall a ROM.
Do people not do nandroid backup anymore?
☞ Sent from here☜???
The error I kept getting said "insufficient storage space available."
I had over 3 gigs of space left on my phone's internal memory.
I tried all of the obvious stuff before even seeking help online (clearing cache, making sure the system memory wasnt taken up).
Anytime my phone would attempt to update an app it would fail and remove the app entirely. Amazon Mobile was the first to go. It's only a 5Mb app and it said I didn't have enough storage space...yet I could download a 100Mb app I didn't already have and it would work fine.
I tried online suggestions like removing my google account from my phone, reverting the app store back to the stock version, re-adding the google account, then rebooting, and then my phone stopped working.
I'm pretty sure I know exactly what caused my phone not to be able to boot anymore though. Some people online had success using a google play store market fix app that is on the play store itself (not some sketchy site no one's ever heard of). I tried that, then when I rebooted it seems like my phone was bricked. A lot of people had said that app worked for their GS4's.
Any suggestions? I wish I could just reinstall android, get the files, then restore to factory conditions (if necessary).
I still have no idea what this problem is that you were trying to fix. I have never heard of this.
Still, using Odin to restore your phone to stock will work. Just flash the .tar file in Odin and it will be like you just took the phone out of the box.
Sent from your phone. You should be more careful where you leave that thing.

The number error that came up with apps failed to update was error 923, which is a pretty common one people had trouble with. I tried every solution I could find, and this is what happened
I wanna help you. I really do. But I can't do anything without knowing the step by step details of what you did to get to this point.
Without that info there is no way to help you back out of thsi without a full wipe. So you are stuck with using Odin to do a full restore.

The step by step details of what I did are a couple posts back (I tried online suggestions like removing my google account from my phone, reverting the app store back to the stock version, re-adding the google account, then rebooting, and then my phone stopped working).
After that I tried a couple of the apps on the google play store that are supposed to be 1 click fixes for the google play store update error. That was my mistake. A lot of people had success with those 1 click fixes, but thats what I believe bricked my phone. I would tell you which app specifically but I can't access my phone (obviously) and they won't come up on the PC version of Google Play search.
Thank you for your desire to help. Is there any other method of communication we could use that might be more efficient for me to be able to answer your questions? IM or fbook chat or something?

I just gave up and wiped all data. I gotta have a working phone for work tomorrow. Trying to download the stock firmware for a full restore. It's taking FOREVER.
Revert to stock : Complete
Hate that I lost everything, but I shoulda been more responsible with backup in the first place. I am with my computers, typically am with my phone, but I was foolish enough to wait until I could get a great deal on a high capacity micro SD card...silly silly me.

Need Help

I've been having problems downloading apps from Google play off and on for several months now. I keep getting the following messages: 927, BM-PPH-01, RPC:S-5:AEC-0. I've been going back and forth with Google support with no help. I've tried clearing data and cache of the Google play app, removing and adding my Google account back, even factory reset. Nothing has helped. If anyone has any other suggestions that might help, I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
I can imagine that could be something that is very frustrating, some things that may help others help you would be:
1. What are you running on your phone? (I.e. firmware, stock or custom ROM, recovery)
2. Are you on Sprint or using another network such as boost?
3. If you are using a custom ROM how exactly did you go about getting it on your phone?
This information may help pinpoint what's going on.
Lastly you may want to download an app that will enable you to grab a log cat, so somebody that knows how to read them could look at that information to help shed some light on it.

Help - Rooted - Island Not working

Hello,
Need some help. I was able to get TWRP on my new Tab S4 and root it with Magisk without issue. I was trying to install and get Island working so I could sandbox a few apps for privacy and I can't get it to work. A Knox notice keeps coming up "The work profile cannot be created because the OS was changed". Then I give Island root access, it appears to work, then a lovely Knox screen (The Knox work profile Icon) comes up saying an unauthorized application was installed and blocked, please contact your admin. So I spent the next 4 hours combing forums and Island's install doco to find a solution. I have tried everything, I used debloat to turn all the Knox stuff off but the needed work space. I even left work space running but just disabled the Knox models in it. I installed Island manually with ADB, and gave it God rights. That made things worse.... Now this nasty screen came up at boot and forced me to recover the OS because it couldn't be bypassed, if just prompted to factory reset the device. I have exhausted all my known options and am now requesting air support.
Thanks in advance,

Afaik once knox 0x1 is triggered there is no way to use Island since work profile cant be added. In fact i tried a lot of stuff to get it working on stock software with just recovery and root being installed, tried unrooting going back to original stock.. nothing worked.
OS has been changed probably refers to the knox counter.
Unfortunately Samsung locks Knox if you unlock your device. Afaik this is irreversible.
That is the reason I am still on stock.
Edit: Island should still work though. Haven't tried it though.

Is that an OS limitation? I have other rooted Samsung tablets, (older) running like 5.1 and 6.1 and they WORK. Island is able to create its OWN sandbox with root access on those. I feel like this is a security applet / process blocking this only, not a technical limitation. I was able to create the work profile with ADB outside of root access, I was able to assign Island with both Device Owner and Admin over the work profile and it was technically working. Some Knox security process that I didn't disable (most likely because it's a com.system that isn't listed in debloat) that is blocking it from displaying (I believe it is working) with a security overlay that I can't close. I need help finding that, and killing it with fire. I think it is beyond me technically. I am a network admin, not programer, though I speak some programming basic concepts via my network background. Just enough to get me in trouble and get to to here to ask for help.

Ok, after much OCD digging, I found the permissions and the Knox security file that was popping that up. I deleted the permissions with adb, killed those 2 processes within the workgroup files using root deleter app and now it works. Note, the whole drive is decrypted by default, I applied the decrypt patch when I rooted. So island was able to successfully provision a work profile and is admin over it.

Please provide your method, i think we are a lot in that situation : rooted and no work profile allowed by knox and tima. I even tried custom kernels announcing knox stuff disable and it's not workin either.
Thks.

Hi how you do this I need to do the same. Thanks
Seriously, he shared the news but didn't share how he did it??
Please provide details
Anybody has a solution on this topic or is this thread dead?
@DevinN, can you provide more info please? What files and apps did you delete?
Edit:
I found that package "com.samsung.android.knox.containeragent" causes the black block-screen, so i disabled it. (adb shell pm disable ...).
Island still refuses fo be installed automatically (security policy prevents creation of work profile because a custom os has been installed) or using root (cannot start the work profile user)
Code:
TZ_init: : TZ_init Process: Device tampered, tamper fuse is set!
TZ_init: : trustlet initialization failed

Thank you, I saw that one too, I dont know how to work with adb. This should not happen, it is a phone with official google.
I had the same problem and that fixed it. It may be a phone with official google but it's xiaomi phone that's killing all services in the background and sometimes messing up backup by killing its service too often, so google thinks it's failing for good and disables it
And it's the right thing to learn to work with adb - you'll learn to use it, and by using it to fix backup you won't mess anything like deleting data etc...
