Motorola Alert app from Moto G LTE / Moto E

As you might now, there is a new Motorola Alert app listed as incompatible with current phones (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.bodyguard). Well, we could download it if someone with the new released Moto G LTE or Moto E would try out:

APK Downloader Chrome extension: http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/#extension (to configure extension go to Extensions->APK Downloader Options)
and manage to squeeze out this app from Motorola's grip. Thanks

Do you think it is possible to get Cast Screen and wireless display from the moto x. I know some has tried it, but that was before the moto X got it's KitKat update.
I am not the greatest at porting apps, but I know that there are files missing.
Can you please look into this and see what you can come up with?

Thanks for posting the CWM file for Moto Alert. I flashed it on my XT1032 but I can't see the app anywhere on the app list. I double checked on the system folders and they are installed OK. How to activate the Moto Alert. Please help

What I did was after the installation, I extracted the apk from data/app and installed the app again. Then it works

Installed on Nexus 4 CM11 Installer release, and running just fine.

New version 1.01.17 is released in Play store. The one in Moto E's rom is 1.01.16 and location based notifications are not working for me in Moto X. Who can help? Thanks.

Actually you guys can just install apk from data/app as usuall and it should work

Seems to me that you just opened my .zip and copied .apk from data folder.
And of course you have to create new thread for that.
By the way I've already twice successfully updated this app in play store.

You cannot simply flash the LTE version ROM on a normal one, your device will get bricked...
As for Russian, you can change that in settings....

But if you share your dump I can at least copy all values-ru folders and add full Russian support in case if motorola wont add Russian in 4.4.3 on non LTE moto G.

unfortunately I am not rooted and I do not intend to, but if you have updated it, please post the new apk

So after updating to marshmallow Sammy actually fixed multitasking. I didn't use or even try these settings on android 6.x.x but they should work, if someone tried and tested them on marshmallow leave a comment (post) please
Hey guys so first I want to say most credits for this tutorial goes to this guy, (so you can view original thread and thank him), I'm only going to share, a bit modified version (with some values taken from Xperia Z3 build.prop), maybe better explained for some people.
So short and to the point, it's a quick fix so your phone can multitask up to around 15 apps without closing any of them(in result also increasing battery life as there's almost no need to reload apps, check video at the end of this post to see it in work). The only thing you need is root and around 15 minutes of time if you've never done anything like that. Oh and arter97 kernel is also very helpfull to keep this working as good as possible as it adds some battery and multitasking improvements as well.
So all you need:
ROOT
Custom Kernel (optional but worth it)
Any file manager that supports root (I'm using Root Browser)
First things first:
Open your root browser and navigate to system/ find and make backup of build.prop file (just copy it somewhere on your internal SD so you can always replace it with default one)
Ok now go back to system/ and open build.prop (Root Browser has built in RB text editor so use it)
First find these 4 lines:

and delete them.
Now find these lines and change values to shown below:

Let me be the first one to say that this works really well. I have tried to open alot of apps that are using quite alot of RAM, and i haven't seen anyone of them reload yet while switching between them after i did this modification to my build.prop file :good:.
So far so good.

im not yet rooted but whenever i am this looks good, can this also be incorporated into a kernel or ROM to save having to manually do this?

Works perfect ?

Changed/added these tweaks to build.prop via PC. Copied it to system/ and rebooted - completely forgot to set the right permission. Was caught in bootloop but luckily I had nandroid backup. Restored system and did it again. Will test it out and report results.
EDIT: Does anyone else receive Security Notice notifications after changing build.prop with the changes provided? It says "Unauthorized actions have been detected". When I click on it, it opens Device Security and says threat found. I can restart the device to undo any unauthorized changes. When I hit restart, it boots into recovery (PhilZ is what I have). It doesn't show any changes. When I reboot, the notification pops up after a couple of mins. How can I deal with it?

Hmm I'm almost sure it's Knox. I'd try using titanium backup to freeze /delete all Knox related apps/services.

@Krokogator it was the SecurityLogAgent giving that notification. I've frozen it with Root Uninstaller and it disappeared. Unfortunataly I can't seem to delete the preinstalled apps that were on my phone. I will try with TB in a moment.

I followed all your instructions but unfortunately it doesn't really seem to work on my end. When I open an app and go back into it, it still reloads it.
I double/triple checked I edited everything and added the lines accordingly.
Using arter kernel.

Krokogator have been using this mod from yesterday night on my edge normal G925F
It's amazing. it really works and keep the app open as i left them in background.
some little times Instagram have been reload but all the other apps opened from where i have left them.

Didn't notice faster or slowet battery drain. I could easily achieve over 7h SOT with this so I'm sure it doesn't affect (in a bad way)

This fix did make things better but is there any way to fix the lag ?? scrolling lag, a little 2s delay here and there... I'm coming from a nexus5, a 2year old phone, and the n5 is much, much smoother than this 5400 geekbench scoring beast ! WTF?!

Yea I have the same, whatsapp emoji scrolling, google play app detail scrolling, pressing hide button in dialer (after closing it from recents), facebook tab scrolling etc is jerky , stuttery blah blah.
How on earth does samsung succeed to lag this hardware, come on sammy engineers...

I tried it some days ago, there are about 800 requests for the Xperia M5.
Maybe if we can raise the requests to 1000, the King Root Developers will port the King Root App to the Xperia M5.

As if the process were that easy. It's not a matter of "porting" the app, we need to find a new exploit first (and the recently published CVE-2016-0728 seems a good candidate)...

Since the app says "rooting strategy available" I thougt maybe a existing stategy can be modified, and it's only not working because of the "odd" MT6795 CPU which is not so much used in smartphones.
When I read about the new vulnerability on heise.de I was hoping that developers will find a way to use that bug for gaining root privileges on Android.
In university I had to make a presentation about code exploitation with a demonstration, since then I'm interested in that topic.
So good luck for the developers to find a way tu use the newly discoverd exploit.

Hi,today after update system to 30.2.A.1.21 I try to get root by Kingroot and by some next time Kingroot rooting my M5 but when I disable autostarts applications in King and go to Gemini App Manager and there say no root,I again go to Kingroot and really root disappeared...Somebody maybe know why?in process Kingroot working I see services kingroot work in list but program say that is no root...strange...

The root if for 5.1 not 6.0

It's not going to work because in 6.0 dm-verity was added and if it senses something is different your phone will refuse to boot so you need to flash a custom kernal.
And there is no known security loopholes known for the m5 so far, that's why kingroot doesn't work

I know I read here about this dm-verity...I be wait for some trick of Kingroot to can root because Kingroot now is the best safe system to do root...and by the way is a joke somebody buy phone so should be can do with him all because pay for him a not you buy phone a system give you some limits what you can do...this politics google is a joke really...

Just did this on my S4 mini and I can now install sony album on CM14.1
Though i can't find/search any of these sony apps through play store (I had album sent from my sony phone as an .apk).

I Edited build.prop and copied xml file to system/etc/permissions and give them proper permission and also clears Google Play Store Data then it is not working.

If You did't have Sony device You dont't install this apps. You must heve xml permission to install it. Or modify apps. This Mod from first post is work.

Just did the same and now I am able to see apps in play store, perhaps put wiping of /dalvik /cache in op as suggested, for me wiping play store data did nothing

I sawed on changelog they fixed bugs mentioned in bugs, but maybe its translator fail? Anyway, can someone who understand that site provide a link to latest version? I dont know how to register on that site just because of translator which is horrible

I've installed this rom. SIM works, it's only icon issue. I'll prepare list with bugs later.

Just try to make call. For me, it works. I'm using Play LTE sim in Poland, so i think you're shouldn't have any problems. Rom works really great, for me.
BUGS:
- Sometimes, when you're trying to launch sms app, it crashes. After few attempts you'll get it.
- At the start, you will get some chinese junk apps, just uninstall it via system app remover app from playstore.
- To get Google Playstore, you need to install it manually. It's simple procedure.
- Equaliser doesn't work, takes crashes when you trying to launch it. But audio works well.
- SIM / cellular working. To get Sim icon, just tap on the icon with mobile reach ~ I'm really don't know how it name properly, forgive me. (You need to launch that app after every reboot).

I have a problem, i can't reach "device id" pass even when i will choose chinese or english language at start up.
What should i do? Also at start up i get a message error about SIM CARD (I have also Play LTE in Poland).
