Just a suggestion, if you were to create a group and post a link to join it, you wouldn't have to manually add users one by one. If you posted the link in this thread, anyone who saw this and wanted to test could do so. It would save you in inbox space, and you wouldn't have to be spammed by requests to join the group.
Edit: Quick question to anyone else who PM'd Felix, did you all get added or not? I haven't been added, but it may be something on my end rather than on Felix's end.

Not long after LineageOS 15.1 became official on my OnePlus 3, whilst trying to find news on what has happened to Protected Apps, I managed to find an article with an interview with someone high up within the Lineage hierarchy. Unfortunately I've since forgotten which site this was on and have never found it again since. As part of the interview, the subject of Protected Apps was raised and what had happened to the feature.
It was confirmed that LineageOS are very much committed to Protected Apps and it will return some time in the future. The reason for the delay was that, at that time, no decision had been made on how it should be brought forward into 15.1. Since Trebuchet had been completely rewritten from scratch, Protected Apps needed some work done in order to be compatible within the new Trebuchet framework. This then led to the dilemma of whether they should just work on the existing code base for Protected Apps or to give it the same treatment of Trebuchet and give it a complete rewrite, so giving it some improvements and enhancements in the process.
Now, a couple of months or so down the line, I've not been able to find any information on the current state of play and was wondering if there's anyone from the LineageOS community who could provide some insight.
Has the decision now been made?
Is a solution now being actively worked on?
Can we get even a vague timescale (weeks, months, not until 16.x, etc.)?
Any information would be greatly received, thanks.

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to take a look at/post questions within the following Official LineageOS 15.1 thread that's specific to your device.

I had taken a quick look at the above thread and did notice that there were other members chatting about this specific feature being temporarily removed due to some issues with it.
I also had noticed that the previous Official Lineage Team Maintainer, for this specific device, had just recently been changed as well.
Anyway... The above thread is where you're more likely to receive some member/developer guidance and support for this.

Protected Apps is missing from all of Lineage 15.1 releases. It is not device specific.

I was not aware of the Protected Apps being temporarily pulled from all the Official LineageOS 15.x builds and was basing my answer from the device specific thread (there was no indication of it being pulled from all devices on that thread either).
I just checked this out on the Official LineageOS JIRA and I do see what your referring to.

I am not sure if the Unofficial LineageOS 15.1 builds (as a whole) reflects this as well and the individual user of the Unofficial builds wonders about this then this would need to be asked to that specific developer. I can only assume and I hate to provide assumptions regarding items like this.
