Basically, I own an Nvidia Shield and I would really love to play Minecraft on it. But Mojang, for some probably stupid and incredibly frustrating reason, haven't implemented controller support for anything except the Fire TV and Xperia Play. It makes no sense. But i heard that someone managed to get their apk from their Fire TV to work on their Note 3 with a Moga Pro controller. So surely this would also work with the Nvidia Shield? I just have no idea how to get the Fire TV Minecraft apk. From anywhere!!!! So guys, is there anyway i can do it?
I've done this and unfortunately it does not work :/

I assume it was because the app did a license check and failed. there is a way around this by using an app called lucky patcher but it needs root. If I had the apk I would patch it for you,

That should work or buy having bought Minecraft PE from the amazon appstore would pass the license check. Can somebody extract for us the Fire TV apk?
If it wasn't $7 I would buy it and backup the APK for you to test.
I'm afraid the likelihood of it working, at least with a ps3 controller, is pretty low. I recently tried a game with fire tv support and the buttons didn't map properly.
I was wondering if it is possible to change the DNS settings on the Nexus 7 like you can on the Xbox one and Playstation 4? it would allow me to access the american version of netflix

Maybe but a VPN would be a better choice. Private Internet Access is what I use.
There are so many VPNS I don't know which one to trust, I used to use HMA but I stopped after a year.
Is anyone willing to pull the watchespn apk from your firetv? I have a nexus player and would like to try and get the app to work.
The app will not work unless you have amazon app store installed, so you will need to download and install the standard amazon app store and have it installed too.

Does this require you to enter your cable provider info to use?

Yes it does. Just about all cable channel apps will require a cable provider info. And even some OTA will ask for one too. Specially now that they are beginning to offer standalone subscriptions.
Is there a way to watch Netflix in hd on this phone? I understand that the issue is with the DRM level, is there a way to change it? Is anyone else having this problem?
Do you have the hd subscription?

Yes, I have the 4k subscription, but if I look at any movie I don't see the little hd icon next to the title. Googling it I found out that this issue is related to the level of DRM the phone has which you can also find using the drminfo app. Are you not having this problem? Could you check your DRM level and tell me if I got a bad unit?
So I've googled it and it appears that Netflix use Google DRM called Widevine. Our devices do support Widevine 1.0 but unfortunately the second requirement is Netflix certification which unfortunately not all devices get.
There appears a way to bypass this where it tells Netflix servers that it's allowed to stream HD:

The link you posted says that it works with DRM L1 but my P2 has L3, does yours use L1?
Has anyone been able to find a version of xfinity streaming app that works with Shield 2017? I have tried a number of versions from the FireTV forum without any luck. Would really love to find a working version for the Shield being the best android streaming box, but no one seams to care about the xfinity app!
It should be a matter of time now...read that xfinity was about to release an app for Android TV, but that it would be limited to Sony TVs at first.
Once it is released for Sony, I am sure that properly working APKs will surface for any other Android TV devices.

That app is fine but will only allow you to stream on an Xfinity network.

Well...of course you have to be an xfinity customer to be able to use the app...
Is that what you mean by "Xfinity network"?
I am streaming Xfinity on my Samsung tab pro 10.1 and various PCs in the house...but I also have the STB for DVR purposes (which can be streamed all over my network). I do not have their modem/router as I own my own, and still works as expected. I can also stream from outside my home on my phone.
If anyone is still interest I having a partial working version. Channels work perfectly accept for on demand viewing.

I am very interested, can you share what APK you have working? I am tired of having to cast xfinity stream from my laptop, I want a native app.
I am also interested.

Ditto...need it on my nVidia Shield
Sorry to show up to the party so late. I have a version of the newer xfinity app. You can stream live tv and on-demand shows (obviously only channels you are subscribed to). It even has launcher support (meaning it will show up right on the homescreen). I was just bored and browsing, so if anyone is still interested I will share a link. Also, what I gathered, this doesn't require root, although my device is rooted so I cannot confirm that.

After setup, the main page that loads will be a "For you" page. Click the back button, it will load a page where you can select "Live" "On-Demand" and a couple other I can't remember. When trying to select a shoe through "On-Demand" I recommend using a mouse or mouse toggle. You can click and drag through the episodes list, so to select other episodes.
here ya go!
