After the December Patch, I noticed that when the phone is charging the display started to flickering specifically when I was in Facebook App. So, I locked the device and turn off. The problem go away until I put to charge again...
Did someone experienced this?

No. Stock charger and cable? I would try another good quality cable first.

It's in fact a stock charger, from my pixel 2 and this 3 XL. I will check the charging port.
Meanwhile if it's not charging I got no issues.
It's kinda scary because I'm living in Mexico and there's no support.

Well here's my story.
An app was misbehaving which made the phone's screen turn on and off. I was told that it might be lint in the charging port that was causing the problem. Cleaned it and the problem consisted. So I downloaded better battery stats and it ended up being a misbehaving app that I uninstalled and the problem went away. So now what happened was that it wasn't charging. I looked around and searched and most threads led to changing the charging port. So I did, I ordered a charging port on eBay for $13 from NJ and it arrived to me a week and a half later. I replaced the charging port and nothing changed. The phone recognizes that it's plugged in and says charging but it the settings it says discharging and not charging (AC). So then I thought it could be the battery. So I went ahead and bought an OEM battery for $20 which was a pretty good deal. And still, no charging. I then remembered it could just be the charging cable. Stupid me I said. Then I tried my friend's SII's charging cable and yet again no charging.
Now before I sell my phone and go buy a different one, is there anything else I've missed? Anything else that could be causing this problem?
Bump. Anybody have any ideas?
You said you used a different cable. Did you also try a different charger (you probably did)? Did you try AC charging and USB charging?

I figured you already did. Don't have any insights for you I'm afraid, you already did what I would recommend.
The first thing I would've done was to do a factory reset to rule out an app causing the problem cause just uninstaling maby erases the app but the app could've done something that messed up the system. you never know. then I would go after the cable and the charger, then the battery and then the charging port etc
I highly doubt an app can make your device stop charging.

I have the same problem, my phone is charging but when it's unplugged it shows "connected", and the screen turns on and off and drains all the battery... actually I just bought a new USB port and I'm waiting it to arrive so I can change mine... and I'm very dissapointed to read that it won't work ... It seems to be a massive manufacturing defect, there is a lot of people with this problem and samsung is not responding.
sorry for my bad english..

Most of the time it's the charging port. Hopefully it will solve your problem, good luck:good:
One other thing to add in. When it's plugged in and i dial #*#4636#*# it says "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."
But I can still transfer files via USB
any updates on these charging issues?

No, I ended up selling the phone for $300 so a friend of mine of knew what the problem was all about and since he had a crappy phone he didn't really care that it had a charging problem.
I'm about to buy either a Galaxy Note, S3 or One X.
Has anyone had this problem before?
My phone says its charging but it discharges (sometimes stays at the same level and sometimes charges VERY slowly). I let it sit on the charger without playing with it and sometimes I have to let it charge while turned off. I have tried many different chargers/usb cables but cannot find a solution.
I have tried wiping the phone twice + I have used an ipad charging block some of the time (higher voltage and amperage I believe).
It works for a little while after a wipe but the problem always comes back. I am running the latest Task 650 rom with stock kernel...
Any suggestions? My last resort is to return it to stock and try getting a warranty exchange.
I have this problem charging in the car on a really long cheap USB cable. Are you using the stock battery and stock charger / cable?

Have you tried using BetterBatteryStats to see what's draining your battery so much? If nothing seems odd or over the top. It could be a hardware problem (battery, usb, etc).

Well my battery is draining at the normal rate but it is not charging at the normal rate (most of the time it doesn't charge at all)
I have tried the stock usb cable and charging block, I also utilize the stock battery.

Have you tried plugging it in other wall outlets?
Also, did you try charging it through your PC? (can't use Fast Charge without another kernel than Task's)

Yes I have tried different outlets and through the PC. I have had this problem using both 4.1.2 (12/2) and 4.2.2 (2/15)

Try updating, if it doesn't work, try stock. if it still doesn't work, send it for warranty.
Try another cable or reverting back to stock. I've got 4 different Galaxy S variant phones and some of the provided cords have just given up the ghost and wouldn't charge quickly anymore. Some will work with another another and some won't. Revert to out of the box stock and see if that helps.
Mine was doing similar deal. I did the *#*#4636#*#* went to battery and found out when I plugged in stock charger and cable it said usb charging instead of ac charging. When I plugged in htc charger went right to ac charging. So I tried using a different cable with stock charger and it went ac charger and seam to fix the problem. In fact if I plugged in just the stock cable not hooked to computer or charger it would switch to usb when there was no power going thru it. Hope this helps.

I have a SGSII E4GT and the battery just stopped charging. I have SlimBean Rom on and i was wondering if they will check any of that kinda of stuff or if they'll give me a new battery. There is no way to access the rom and all you see is the battery charging symbol so the only way anyone could know if i have a rom is if they turn the phone on.
Did you try different USB wires? It could be the port as well.

You could always buy 2 aftermarket batteries with an external charger for $20... Then you have spare batteries if you ever want/need them.
Then if the USB port is dead you can just flash a stock ROM.

How are you trying to charge the device? A wall charger or using usb on your pc? Depending on the kernel, usb charging via pc may be disabled by default in favor of some other service. You most likely will not receive a replacement battery unless you buy one yourself, in which case they arent even going to see your phone.

Ive tried everything; usb, car (which is the only one that gets the phone to the charging animation) and wall. Ive actually managed to turn on the phone in the car and fac. reset it and all it did was make it worse. now when i turn the phone on it goes to the charging animation then flickers, then turns off

i took the battery out for 2 days and then used my trust car charger and now its on its way up to 100. currently at 49. ill let you know what happens:laugh:
Hello im new to the forum, a friend of mine suggested this is the best place to post this so here it goes:
I bought a used Pixel XL3 from ebay, it arrived today and i immediately turned the phone on, it had about 25% battery in it, i used it for most of the day, when i got home i tried charging it with the original charger and when i connected the phone it didnt show it was charging at all. I tried 2 other charges/cables and the same result. I know the phone did detect the cable was being connected because every time i connected the usb cable the phone kind of blinked, but it didnt charge.
I researched on Reddit and someone witha similar problem suggested i completely drain the battery and then try and charge it again. I drained the battery and now when i connect the phone it shows a gray battery icon with a lightning bolt in it for a few seconds, then it boots to the google logo and then it shuts down again. It does this over and over again.
Im at a complete loss of what to try or do next. The phone did work when i took it out of the box! I cannot RMA it to Google since im not the original buyer of the phone and im also out of the US.
Any assistance would be really appreciated!
Try a wireless charger?
If you plug it in when off does it charge? Leave it charging for as long as you can then boot up.
I've had this problem and although it seems like a software issue there's no solution in sight and many people experiencing it.
Once you have the phone on check for a notification that says "Charging connected device via USB" - choose that - select "This device" (instead of "Connected device") Not a fix, but I"ve been getting by doing this and it allows me to charge. I am close to getting a replacement.

Welcome. Both ideas of turning the phone off and charging from there, and wireless charging are good ones. Once you get a decent charge on the battery, go into Recovery and do a factory reset. If the problem presents itself after a reset you may have a hardware issue like the USB port itself or the battery. If the phone is bootloader unlocked (or unlockable) you may have a few more options. What are the first 2 digits of your IMEI?
I'm having the exact same problem with my Google pixel 3 XL. I don't know if it's the charging port or it's because I'm running Android Q beta 4 and it's been happening for 2 days now. I'm going to try a factory reset tomorrow night if nothing else works then I'll update it here.

Ok, so have you tried wireless charging to rule out the USB interface? Hopefully a fresh install with latest P will get you back up and running.
Hi,
I dont exactly remember if it started in DP2 or DP3 but during charging the phone becomes almost unusable. Its almost like a brick during the time its plugged in. After unplugging, it has to be rebooted in order to function it correctly.
I have tried with official charger and also with a different usb cable and powerbank, still its unusable during the charging period.
Can you guys please help!

Try a factory reset? I am currently using beta 5 and the charger and no issues with freezing.
I'm having issues when charging since yesterday. Any time I try to charge the phone, it turns off immediately. I'm in stock Android Q beta 6 and I didn't have this issue until yesterday morning

I had a similar issue, pixel only charged when off and very slow. If I plugged charger in while phone was on it turned off. And only slow charger worked.
RMA with google after I mentioned this started right after July security update (was Pie though).
Pixel 2 XL Hardware Not Software Issue
Play!Ya,
Like Lywyn said this is actually a known (if not acknowledged) issue with the hardware of the Pixel 2 XL.
From a previous post of mine:
Apparently, there is a known issue with the Pixel 2XL devices. The USB port/connection to motherboard fails such that every time you plug in an adapter to charge, the phone will reboot. Eventually, my OEM adapter would not work at all (I had to use a Nintendo Switch adapter to charge).

I realize now it started back when I lost the ability to connect to Android Auto in Dash systems.
If you are still covered under warranty, they will send you a refurbished replacement (at least they did for me).
Good luck and spread the word, because it drove me crazy for many months.
