Hello,
Have the cor-L29 432Gt and using Google pay with supplied cover weakens signal/doesn't work.
Taking cover off remedies it.
Anyone know where exactly where the sensor is, I have a new case on the way and will make a hole in it if I have to.
I didn't think silicone would affect nfc, but have no experience of using it until few days ago.
Cheers
This is not an issue, nfc works front/ear piece facing down.
worked twice today
According to the protective plastic the phone has out the box the NFC is in the upper right hand side of the phone with the screen facing you, this may extend to the entire top section of the phone but I'm not too sure. I use the supplied case and never had an issue with Google pay. Have you tried it in multiple locations? If not it may just be that terminal is a bit weak and can't make a good connection to your phone.
Google pay doesn't show on default payment apps how to fix that .. cleared cache reinstalled the app still nothing altough masterpass shows normally!

I remember a few months back someone had a tpu case and they cut out sections on the back of the case to fix the problem of the case blocking the gps signal. I was wondering if anybody remembers this and could point me to where that was. They had instructions and pictures I'm pretty sure. Hope someone remembers this.
Thanks
The gps antenna is in the flashlight cover. There's a thread in here detailing a hardware mod that helped me. Think its "gps 1000000% working"

Thanks I just kinda want to start by modifying my tpu case and see if that helps before I dive in n start messing with phone hardware. If i remember correctly the guy who did the mod to his case also cut off a part on lower part of the case where the darker part of the Desire HD is. Is that where the wifi antenna is??

The antenna is at the top where the flash is, as stated. There is a cable running down the side to the GPS module at the bottom of the case.
I cut my own TPU case around the flash cover and the improvement was not that great, In the end I took the case off without trying anything further.
I would suggest cutting around the flash cover with a few holes down the left side and then another larger cut out at the bottom directly in line with flash cover, but be prepared to waste the case

I cut out a rectangle the size of the entire flash cover that pops out. It greatly improved my gps signal. I get a lock within seconds when near a window whereas before i either wouldnt get a lock or it would take minutes. I may try cutting out a part on the bottom on a secondary case to see if that helps even further but at the moment I am very satisfied with my fix. So if anyone is have gps problems try seeing if its your case before going the hardware route.

I don't see how this is remotely beleivable. No empiracal data has been collected just hearsay.

I used the GPS Test app and set my phone right beside a window and it would take about a minute to get a lock. I then took off my case and I got a lock within seconds so obviously something with my case is blocking the GPS signal. So I cut out a rectangle where the antenna is located. I then test using the app and get a lock within 15 seconds. Its not as fast as without the case but it is way quicker than before. If you don't believe me that's cool. It could be specific to my phone or my case, I'm just saying for the people that are having issues with GPS signal and you have a case, take the case off and see if the signal is better. If it is then your case is blocking the signal and if not then you might have to do the hardware fix that is covered in a bunch of threads.
I purchased,
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-Three-St...ios&hash=item4abc8f0ae3&_uhb=1#ht_4861wt_1037
case for my SG-N8010 and everything seemed to be fine until i noticed a S-Pen disorientation near the area where the magnet was. However, using my finger seemed perfectly fine. At first I thought it would be some software issue since I upgraded it to 4.1.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925720) but after hours of searching the net for a possible solution I gave up. So a buddy of mine wanted to see it out of its case today and I noticed that the s pen was working perfectly when he was playing with it. I did try this later on and figured out that the problem did reside in the magnets being in my case.
SO voila! If you buy a magnetic case and face a s pen disorientation problem, just get another non magnetic case as it is frustrating at times when you are at lectures and constantly have to avoid a certain part of the screen to write on.
Please note I am no expert in Android, Im just the typical person who can install roms/kernals/multiwindow apps etc.
This problem may not affect you but it did on my SG-N8010.
Cheers

I figure this out back in the days of the g1 I actually returned 2 of them because the compass got all screwy. Since then I avoid magnets near my electronics like the plague.

I too had this concern when buying a case. Ive had the official bookcover case for about 2 months now and every once in a while the s-pen will require extra force to register. This only happens above the magnets and with the case on. Once i take the case off and put it back on, everything is fine. It doesn't happen enough to bother me. Hopefully it isnt a huge issue.
With my regular Wacom tablets (same technology), I have this issue if I sit my laptop over the keyboard and I notice the CPU interferes with it...
Sometimes my phone as well will cause problems. Because there is a signal between the pen and the tablet (the tablet screen in this case), that really doesn't surprise me...
Well I have been using a case with magnet, not really a big user of SPEN but whatever little I used for did not see any issue.
Hi,
I've just check.
I write a pattern of flat line all over the screen in Quill program, and have detect two areas where the spen don't works.
I use a no original book like case.
Once released the tablet from the case, the two areas works fine.
For me it depends on how i insert the pen back into the silo.
Button facing down = no problem
Button facing up = S-pen is looser, and lightly tapping the exposed part of the pen when inserted causes detachment recognition.
the tablet shows the "S-pen detached" even with the slightest outward movement of the S-pen,
which is only a problem when i insert the pen with the button facing down
Anyone one else having the same issue? (Should i exchange mines...?)
Is the S-pen suppose to inserted in a certain orientation only?
I dont have any of that problems

ahhh, guess i'll go exchange mine then, thanks for posting and letting me know !
I have the same problem and for me it's no difference if the butten is facing up or down :/
Every time I press or hold the tablet next to the camera the pen is not recognized anymore. Very annoying if using it horizontally or just carrying it
SAME ISSUE HERE, but i have a solution !
It is the problem with to short pencil drawpoint, if i remove it and place it without fully pressing/locking inside the pen, the pen dedection will no fail !!!, i dont know yet how to extend it ??? (i'm sure a 0,5 mm or even 0,01 mm - will do)
if anyone have any idea please help ? can i place a bit of paper inside pen or it will **** the whole thing up ?
@Asmodat
that doesn't help for me. as soon as i bend the note a tiny little bit i get the s pen removed message. even if the lead is very loose

I know why it is not working for you (I forgotten to repost): That's because in my case extending the pen also stabilised it - thow it stopped going crazy.
Then i also noticed, that bending ... rather pressing the tablet in specific places fired the detatched message.
ANY WAY FOLLOWING SOLUTION IS 100% WORKING:
- The issue is to much loose in pen holder, so if the pen is not stabilized, even slightly move of pen or bend of tablet can detatch or reattach it.
TO FIX IT: Take the 2cm / 1inch piece of narrow transparent tape, then stick it below the silver head of pen.
I has to help, however it must be peace of tape of certain length not to long (you will not fit the pen in the holder), not to short.(it will not stabilise it).
Now I can do whatever I wont wyth my tablet, bent, press, etc - for me problem is solved, although i beleave some software code could easly fix it too, or disable the stupid feature.
Same problem.. The solution for me was to go to the service centre to get a new pen.
I'm having the same problem here. For me, it seems like this problem happened over time. I had this device for a month, and it's only the past week that I've had this problem. The slot for the pen seems to have loosened, and the pen slides out ever so slightly (still secure), but enough to be detected. It's very annoying, as I have a case with the sleep cover function, and the "pen detached" notification turns the screen on regardless of it being turned off from the cover. Battery drain while in bag FTL.
I'm wondering if there's a way to disable the feature altogether. I'm rooted, so I don't mind a rooted solution. I'd rather this than having to carry the pen separately, as the hole in the tablet will still be useful this way.
Had the tablet for 2 days and everything is perfect. There is 1 problem though, the S-Pen isn't loose, but when it's moved outwards like <1mm then the tablet will turn on because it thinks the S-Pen is detached. I compared this to my defective screen tablet that I have not yet returned and that one does not activate when moved even a millimeter outwards. I will be returning both these tablets because it will most likely get worse over time and get looser in the slot. I'm really disappointed at the moment and hoping the next replacement will be my last. If not I may just have to go with the iPad Air and get one of the expensive styluses for more precise input.

Even those expensive iPad styli aren't even close to the s pen experience.

I agree, and I probably will not end up getting an iPad. I'm just kind of angry at Samsung at the moment and just saying things that'll make me feel better. Meanwhile, let's see how many returns it takes for me to get a tablet with no big problems. :silly:
I had the same issue. So I went to service station. they proposed to change s pen and the whole s pen dock which is attached to the screen Pannel. Now will be getting the replacements in 3 days. screen Pannel. According to them the s pen dock is attached to the screen Pannel. Now will be getting the replacements in 3 days. Hoping for the best. my S pen is very loose. It wasant so it was just loose on one side but after they opened my Note it became too loose. So its better to get a replacement.

Exactly the same thing with my P605. Went to Samsung service on Friday, January 10, and in less than one hour the problem was fixed, the s-pen's detection distance becoming ~2 mm. The s-pen position in silo doesn't matter (if it is introduced with the button toward the screen or to the back camera). I've tested also the s-pen with the sensitive tip removed, it keeps the same distance of 2 mm with or without tip. I've asked the lady from the desk for the technician that fixed my tablet to talk with him just 1 min to ask him what he did, she said that is forbidden. Than I asked her to tell me how the tablet was fixed, she said that it was opened and the sensor was repositioned in the right place. I looked carefully with a magnifier if there are traces on the case, it looks like the case wasn't touched. By the way, they didn't specify anything on my guarantee certificate, and they didn't release to me any written paper concerning this problem and how they fixed it. My feeling is that the s-pen sensor's position was recalibrated digitally, using a hidden menu. Testing my s-pen in the demo P605 tablet from the showroom (inside the same Samsung service building), the tolerance was ~1.5 mm. Hopefully this information will be useful to anybody experiencing this annoying thing.

I would love to see this as well. Maybe there's something like turning off home button wake in /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl ? Like OP, the issue is improved greatly when the S-Pen button is facing toward the back of the device.
BTW, where the hell is the ROM development on this device. I haven't seen a ghost town like this on a Samsung device since the Behold II.
warrantary worked
now i had to sent my device to the support for some reasons as well and they managed to fix the problem. they didn't replace the s pen and it still feels quite loose in the silo but there are no detached messages anymore!
they had to open the back because they changed the battery, so i can't say if they fixed the sensor or if it was a software fix
I have fixed it by myself (just because I had no warranty for some reasons)
It is hardware problem and can not be fixed by firmware, so, if you want, go to service.

hello
i have rooted 4.4.3 with stock version
i recently noticed that thw compass doesn't show the right north. i think its from day one. i checked and according to phone tester i have magnetic field sensor but every app that use it always get zero data.. did someone faced fhis problem before?
thank you
Having the same issue...Just received my warranty replacement M8. The old one was 4.4.2 and rooted. This one is 4.4.3, unrooted, and any compass apps read 0uT magnetic field.
Worth noting: switched to the ART architecture a few days ago. I never did see if it worked before I switched. Are you on ART or Dalvik? Also, I have this heavy screen protector on it...it's like a sheet of tempered glass. I'm afraid to take it off because it was so tough to get on perfectly. Do you have one too?
EDIT: Just tested my sensor using the #*#*3424*#*# or whatever it is...sensor works fine. When I place a strong magnet over my screen, it turns off (as it should, thanks to DotView). However even with that powerful magnet right next to my phone, it reads 0uT
So, I noticed a dead spot about the size of a nickel on the right hand side of my screen while using the s-pen this morning. I did a search and decided that I would have to exchange the phone (and hope not to get a refurbished one return). Decided to show my wife and suddenly realized the problem (and the solution). I have the phone in a wallet case with a magnetic clip. Well it turns out that if you fold the magnetic clip around to the back side of the phone to get it out of the way then the s-pen will not work on top of it (duh).
So take this as a heads up. Careful with magnets near the screen while using s-pen.
PEACE!

OOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i can't believe i missed that. Thank you sir, i've been factory restoring my device for a month now repeatedly as, in between some restores, the screen becomes active. Turns out that was because i took off the cover at those times!!! This is lovely! All fixed now, Note EDGE BTW.
You know, there should a fund for people like you! I had almost the same problem, but for added stupidity, the manufacturer of my case had hidden a magnet inside of the back of the phone, to keep the flip lid in place on the back. Took me a lot of effort and a lot of insulting conversations with the cellphone store clerk where "sometimes it works" being an ingredient.
I have how completed the easy part; using a scalpel to open the side of the case to remove the magnet.
Now to swallow my pride and go down to the phone store and explaining that "you were right, there is nothing wrong with the phone, this cheap knock-off case that I bought online is the problem". She should bill me for the hours spent trying to satisfy me, so that I could forward the bill to the online store.
God I feel stupid. And arrogant! And thankful!
Thank you. Explains some random things I see, depending on how I'm using my case. Had magnets I didn't even know about...
wow thanks.
Rectangular S Pen dead zone near bottom of screen-different, but similar cause fixed
This feed led me to the cause of my issue but it wasn't a magnetic case. I experienced this issue after installing a new battery from Energy Pal (extended life and NFC). I was able to correct my issue by placing a few strips of electrical tape and folded piece of aluminum foil between the battery and the upper part of the battery compartment (covering that raised rectangular area). I was super pleased to be able to use the entire screen area again.
Well done!
I haven't used the spend much since I got my new Note. Just laying in bed playing around with it and noticed the big deadspot in the center of the screen.
Just starting to get angry and decided to do a quick Google.
Never would have occurred to me it was the Steelie magnet on the case causing the issue!
Well done XDA. Saved the day again.
