Hello -
I just rooted my HTC One M9 and switched to Revolution 14.0 (Lollipop). I've achieved my goal of getting rid of the AT&T and HTC bloat-wear, but I've lost LTE - phone is 4G only now. I'm using the same SIM card as I was with stock ROM (and had LTE). As indicated, this is an AT&T phone, and I'm using Cricket as my MVNO.
Any ideas, including how to diagnose? I'm a noob, so please take pity and keep it simple!
Thanks in advance

Is revolution 14.0 an international variant build by chance ?
If so.....the 4G moniker is representative of European builds on many occasions.
If the build is US rom based, you should Check and adjust your APN settings.
Many builds do not use the LTE signal moniker, and many do need APN checks for proper network connection, as they are built for several different carriers.
Check out those few items, and you will find your answer.
It is also a good idea to check the rom thread, as I'm sure several other users have seen the same issues you are having.
Happy flashing...g
I think I got it ...
Thanks for the ideas ....
I think this is a nomenclature issue and not an actual network issue. My upload / download speeds on '4G' are about 8 mbps, which is what I would expect for 'LTE', so I'm going to say that this flavor of ROM is just calling it a different name. Problem solved!

I currently have ATT service with my S3. I'm running the Intergalactic 3.0 at the moment and I absolutely love it. However - I just switched to T-Mobile. I want to keep my current phone and sell the free S3 they gave me so I don't have to deal with losing any information or anything like that. Can I get away with this on the ATT based ROM? IIRC T-Mobile and ATT run on very similar networks/frequencies. Any advice would be helpful here. If worst comes to worst and I have to use the T-Mobile provided phone, can I flash Intergalactic on it as well or do I have to choose from the T-Mobile ROMs on this site?
Thanks to everyone in advance.
You should be able to add the proper apn for t mobile. You also may want to flash one of the t mobile radios.

I just switched from ATT to T-Mobile. I have an ATT SGS3 running Task's AOKP. APNs filled themselves in when I put the T-Mobile SIM in and everything works flawlessly.

Strange. I unlocked the phone, I was able to put in the SIM card and the APNs filled themselves. I was able to make calls and texts but unable to use internet. Any idea here? Using Intergalactic 3.0
To clarify - no internet at all. No Edge, GSM, or LTE

No idea. I'm not getting LTE, but I do get H+ and haven't looked into it yet. Maybe it's the ROM? I'm on Task's newest release.

Strange. I went back and re-registered on the network through the settings and now it's getting 4g, just no LTE. At least it's working though!
Edit: Kinda. It worked for a minute then I locked/unlocked the phone and it didn't want to work any more.

I just changed the setting under settings-> network mode to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE" and now I do get LTE
I can confirm that you no longer need to use the much outdated CM11 T-Mobile ROM, T-Mobile Stock ROM or the RayGlobe Flex ROM in order to use a USA domestic sim such as T-Mobile. I noticed that the BUILD.PROP on the T-Mobile CM11 ROM has some enabled goodies which do not come on the default CM11 for the LS980. That made me wonder what if I use a unified ROM (built for all variants) instead of the ROMs available on the Sprint G2 section? The build.prop there will still include capabilities for GSM devices, which CyanogenMod seems to strip in order to avoid switching to GSM (correct me if I am wrong). Anyways I gave it a go using the LS980 Bliss Pop ROM based on 5.1, which is found in the non-carrier specific section of the G2 Android Development, and sure enough I was back to being a Sprint device. Using the dialer, I accessed the Testing menu by dialing *#*#4636#*#*, switched to WCDMA preferred, and it seemed to have revert. Then I clicked WCDMA only and it stuck and I could see my signal bars changing. THEN I switched it to GSM/LTE and FINALLY HSPA+ appeared. Calls, texts, data, it all works as the APNs were already auto selected. MMS DOES NOT WORK. I've been using it like this for the past couple of hours and no issued so far. I cannot remember if I did the official unlock available on our section of XDA as I've had quite a few of the Sprint version on and off, but I really do not see what role that plays in the matter. If it doesn't work for you, then you probably do need to use the official unlock.
***Again, if my theory is correct, this should work only on unified ROMs, which are ROMs compiled for all/multiple variants.
It never worked for me on stock CyanogenMod ROMs for the LS980, thus my theory. Another theory I have is that since Sprint now allows domestic unlocks, these phones may be free to enter the domestic side if you can get them to recognize a domestic sim...
If you want pictures/proof, ask, its about 5am in my time zone and I'm too lazy to take them and upload them.
If you want to force HSPA+ instead of HSPA, use the "HSPA+ Tweaker" app found in the Play Store.
If you feel like this is good news since you use this device on a carrier other than Sprint, remember to thank me.
If you are in another country and are willing to experiment, try it and I'll update my OP as soon as I can.
If you have already mentioned this in another thread, this is my own thread, started so that others can see it easier rather than having to accidentally stumble across yours in another thread.
EDIT: Can confirm it works on other AOSP ROMs. When switching network modes, you must have a stable data connection or else it will automatically try to connect to Sprint towers.
MMS DOES NOT WORK!
Outside the usa GSM sims works perfect on every not SPRINT rom (stock based like cloudy or optimus, or AOSP/CM based)

Thus the first word in the title of this thread is "Domestic". Back then, you couldn't get a USA sim working with those AOSP based ROM, heck you couldn't even use it if the rom wasnt modified to spoof the T-Mobile version, see for yourself the domestic "unlocked" roms I mentioned above show your device as a D801. There has always been the international unlock which can be used even on stock, but that wouldn't help USA users.
Hi,
I have an unlocked version of Fire Phone and have flashed the almost latest version of the Cyanogenmod ROM. I am using at&t wireless service but it seems that I just cannot use LTE. Based on other information I think the phone supports all the bands at&t is using. The network the phone is using is HSPA. I tried changing settings in the phone but it did not help. I searched carefully using related keywords but have not found anybody talking about this, and I wonder whether this is something too simple to ask or nobody else has ever encountered this problem. I want to know if there is something I can do to use LTE.
Thanks.

I have seen some issues about CM based ROM's and ATT LTE. Did you have a full LTE signal and good data speeds on the stock ROM before you flashed the CyanogenMod ROM?

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I had already flashed CM before I switched to att so I do not have information about that. And currently I am not quite willing to flash the phone back to the native fireOS just for this because HSPA still gives good data speed...

Have you checked your APN settings and verified that it is setup correctly to use ATT LTE? Also, was this phone ever used on ATT before with the sim card you put in it? If not, then what will have to happen is this, I think: I found this excerpt which I believe is what will have to happen.
You WILL NOT get AT&T LTE on you phone unless your account is first provisioned with an AT&T LTE Phone. There is NO WAY around this. You must buy/borrow an AT&T phone that has LTE capability, put your SIM in that phone, and let the system provision your account for LTE automatically. This is NOT something that customer service, or a store clerk, can do for you. Once your account is provisioned for LTE (you will know because the LTE indicator will show up on the phone), you can then put the SIM card into your Fire Phone. At that point, the device will automatically select the "phone" APN, and you will get LTE (identified by the "4G" indicator).
Hope this helps

So I jumped on the AT&T/DirecTV Unlimited data deal and ported my phone today. It all looked normal and I got the activation texts and such - it even populated the nxtgenphone APN info (though it was deselected and I had to select it). Anyway, I've had no data at all. As a test, I switched the APN to phone and data works, but the speeds appear to be much lower than what my wife's iPhone is seeing on the nxtgenphone APN. Anyone got any tips?
I'm running Viper 2.5, latest US unlocked firmware and US unlocked selected as carrier, and it works fine on AT&T other than this......only other thing I can mention is when I select preferred band or whatever it shows WCDMA/GSM and if I change it to WCDMA/GSM/LTE it reverts back for some reason. Any help much appreciated. I've called AT&T and they're like, uh, we don't sell the HTC 10 so can't really help you... grrrrrr.....

I'd suggest ruu to stock us unlocked rom and see if the issue persists.
Or, try clean flash of viper.
I have no issues using US unlocked on AT&T with both stock rom and ice.
Thanks for trying to help. I just finished trying stock RUU and same problem. I'm convinced, as I was before, that this is AT&T's issue. I've read numerous posts this afternoon that because the HTC 10 (and other phones) aren't in their "LTE approved" database, nxtgenphone APN won't work, or it will only give HSPA speeds. Seems like everyone who has resolved it, or didn't run into the issue at all had another AT&T LTE phone they could use for the IMEI on the account, or the rep entered the model as an iPhone or similar to make it work. Really, really frustrating, as they refuse to help me and I'm starting to think I should just terminate in the 14 day window and do T-mobile or Verizon.
I have at&t and everything worked out of the box, I've never been on stock rom, always on Viper I did the unlock and s-off without a sim and never had an issue or called at&t to activate the device I just transferred my sim from my note 4 to the HTC 10, no provisioning issues at all, VOLTE works, LTE is fine as well while on a phone call... No issues... If you need anything to compare let me know

Thanks for replying. They did confirm it was a provisioning issue and they fixed it today. They had to do something different, as the default HTC 10 provisioning and IMEI check didn't fix it even when they tried it a second time, but they were able to adjust something and LTE definitely works now. VoLTE working here, too. Thanks!
Hello and thanks for reading,
I'm currently a T-Mobile subscriber, but I'm using an unlocked Verizon HTC One M8.
The phone is currently rooted has S-Off and Super CID.
The problem I have is that my data connection seems to constantly drop randomly.
Whether I'm on a call, sending or receiving group messages / MMS, or simply browsing the web.
I have to switch on airplane mode at least 20+ times a day to obtain a data signal.
My cellular network type is consistently on EDGE.
I CANT SEEM TO GET ANY 4G OR LTE.
Can someone point me in the correct path to fix the issue.
I used to have this issue, until I activated T-Mobile bands that are originally deactivated by Verizon from the factory. Maybe this was a huge coincidence, but I had the exact same problems until I did this. Also flashed LolliGPE at this time.
You can use CDMA tool to achieve this. There are numerous guides on how to do this on XDA, feel free to send a PM if you need more explanation or w/e.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to factory reset from stock recovery to correct any potentially corrupted NV items.
What I've found work good is install custom rom like viper one then enter your T-Mobile mms settings then use the app called 4g switch n click the drop down n select WCDMA n should be getting a constant four bar
Sorry for such a late reply, I am currently using ViperROM and still have troubles.
I've flashed several different roms all were affected, I've tried numerous firmware and radio's none have worked.
I'm not sure how to block CDMA network keys from functioning, care to elaborate a bit?
