[Q] ATT Roms on T-Mobile network? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I currently have ATT service with my S3. I'm running the Intergalactic 3.0 at the moment and I absolutely love it. However - I just switched to T-Mobile. I want to keep my current phone and sell the free S3 they gave me so I don't have to deal with losing any information or anything like that. Can I get away with this on the ATT based ROM? IIRC T-Mobile and ATT run on very similar networks/frequencies. Any advice would be helpful here. If worst comes to worst and I have to use the T-Mobile provided phone, can I flash Intergalactic on it as well or do I have to choose from the T-Mobile ROMs on this site?
Thanks to everyone in advance.

You should be able to add the proper apn for t mobile. You also may want to flash one of the t mobile radios.

I just switched from ATT to T-Mobile. I have an ATT SGS3 running Task's AOKP. APNs filled themselves in when I put the T-Mobile SIM in and everything works flawlessly.

Strange. I unlocked the phone, I was able to put in the SIM card and the APNs filled themselves. I was able to make calls and texts but unable to use internet. Any idea here? Using Intergalactic 3.0
To clarify - no internet at all. No Edge, GSM, or LTE

No idea. I'm not getting LTE, but I do get H+ and haven't looked into it yet. Maybe it's the ROM? I'm on Task's newest release.

Strange. I went back and re-registered on the network through the settings and now it's getting 4g, just no LTE. At least it's working though!
Edit: Kinda. It worked for a minute then I locked/unlocked the phone and it didn't want to work any more.

[Q] LTE Bell dies if using other roms?

I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and this only happens after a period of time where the LTE will just stop working but if you switch to CDMA it's working fine?
To go a step further I've wiped the phone and restored to stock. Once that's done LTE is working fine.
To go further again, I grabbed a different ROM and the exact samething happens, I'll be able to be on LTE for about a day and then the service stops and if I switch it to CDMA I'm good.
Just wondering if anyone else here has noticed that.
Cheers,
did you verify your APN settings?
i'm using a Bell version GN2 but on Fido and i can flash all day everyday and 4g has always worked.

The APN settings are always the same with Bell. They don't change.
HSPA+ will work but LTE will die after a little while. (This only occurs on other ROMS). If I stay on the stock rom there's no problem.

On a different note... I noted that if I have SAMBA Fileshare on I have strange things that happens DATA wise.... I'm still looking into it and dropping logcat and looking at different possibility.
At this point it's looking like something with the SMB Fileserver I have on the phone. (Will know later on)

im not saying the bell apn has changed but ive found that sometimes when flashing roms, the apn settings arent included in the rom and have to manually be entered.
This happened alot when using my galaxy s2 lte.

Straight talk galaxy s3 Verizon version

I have the straight talk galaxy s3 that runs on Verizon towers...I have my contract 4G sim in the phone running a Verizon rom and everything does work but it roams everywhere I go and I don't get any 4G (disabled by straight talk). I was wondering if flashing a sprint rom would help at all? I seen the sticky saying not to flashing any rom from another carrier but I've flashed dozens of different roms and all has been good except the roaming. Anyways, just wanted to see if I could get some help here. Thanks in advance
What would it take to enable the 4G on this phone?

You might have to configure your APNs, or, if you haven't for a long time, you might need to update your modem, since you don't get that sort of update with custom ROMs. On my Virgin Mobile phone, I have to flash an APN fix on every new ROM, otherwise I just have 3G.

The straight talk version I have runs off Verizon towers and they have 4G disabled but the phone is suppose to be 4G enabled. The apn fixes didn't help. I'm wondering if this would need something like cdma workshop.
Ah, I see. Yeah, if the 4g is blocked on multiple ROMs, you'll need an app to fiddle with the sim card. Hopefully it's not hard blocked (a physical switch or the card is incapable of it even though the phone is)! I'd try to contact Straight Talk and/or see if it works on stock. If you're trying to get 4g without straight talk knowing, well, I don't know much about that, but CDMA workshop or something similar might be worth a shot.
I was thinking cdma workshop would be the answer but I don't know where they have it turned off. It sucks being confined to 3G when the phone is 4G compatible and straight talk will allow 4G on there Verizon network now.

G925T Unlocked gets internet but cannot make calls or text

Hello guys,
I just got a G925T and unlocked it(root & unlock), installed a VZW sim and got the data to work. I cannot make any calls or text tho.... Any thought for a frustrated fella???
I have contemplated installing a rom and trying to change the message center number there because it cannot be done in stock rom... but not sure if its possible.
I have a g925t, could you tell me how you rooted and unlocked it? I've tried so many things and even bricked it twice.
ATT, Tmobile and the rest of the world using GSM network. but Verizon and Sprint is using CDMA network. Therefore if you use a GSM phone on a CDMA network, IT WILL not work!

If it does not work, how did I get the internet to work... is a matter of configuration. I know Tmobile locks the message center number so it cannot be edited. If there is a different way(like an app or flashing a configuration) I might be able to make it work, at least the text messages.

If you brick twice, you need to give up.
Stock isn't as bad as it's made out to be.
I gave up waiting for safe uncomplicated root, but it's still not possible.
Proper root is seamless and everything works on the first try.
That was possible with all the Galaxy phones before this model, but not with this phone.
Pp.

From what i inderstand, Verizon mostly uses CDMA for voice unless you are in a VoLTE area. Even then I would say all bets are off for voice.

This. Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular are all predominantly CDMA voice carriers. While they support VOLTE unfortunately it's not standardized yet so it's hit or miss on devices but VZW systems usually just reject any non certified voice device which flips it to data only like a tablet. The Tmobile s6 isn't equipped with compatible CDMA radios as they're proprietary. The LTE portion of the system they use is standard (GSM) with the rest of the world which is why data works.

at&t 4G LTE Support

Hi,
I have an unlocked version of Fire Phone and have flashed the almost latest version of the Cyanogenmod ROM. I am using at&t wireless service but it seems that I just cannot use LTE. Based on other information I think the phone supports all the bands at&t is using. The network the phone is using is HSPA. I tried changing settings in the phone but it did not help. I searched carefully using related keywords but have not found anybody talking about this, and I wonder whether this is something too simple to ask or nobody else has ever encountered this problem. I want to know if there is something I can do to use LTE.
Thanks.

I have seen some issues about CM based ROM's and ATT LTE. Did you have a full LTE signal and good data speeds on the stock ROM before you flashed the CyanogenMod ROM?

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I had already flashed CM before I switched to att so I do not have information about that. And currently I am not quite willing to flash the phone back to the native fireOS just for this because HSPA still gives good data speed...

Have you checked your APN settings and verified that it is setup correctly to use ATT LTE? Also, was this phone ever used on ATT before with the sim card you put in it? If not, then what will have to happen is this, I think: I found this excerpt which I believe is what will have to happen.
You WILL NOT get AT&T LTE on you phone unless your account is first provisioned with an AT&T LTE Phone. There is NO WAY around this. You must buy/borrow an AT&T phone that has LTE capability, put your SIM in that phone, and let the system provision your account for LTE automatically. This is NOT something that customer service, or a store clerk, can do for you. Once your account is provisioned for LTE (you will know because the LTE indicator will show up on the phone), you can then put the SIM card into your Fire Phone. At that point, the device will automatically select the "phone" APN, and you will get LTE (identified by the "4G" indicator).
Hope this helps

Ported AT&T from Cricket (AT&T), nxtgenphone APN gives no data?????

So I jumped on the AT&T/DirecTV Unlimited data deal and ported my phone today. It all looked normal and I got the activation texts and such - it even populated the nxtgenphone APN info (though it was deselected and I had to select it). Anyway, I've had no data at all. As a test, I switched the APN to phone and data works, but the speeds appear to be much lower than what my wife's iPhone is seeing on the nxtgenphone APN. Anyone got any tips?
I'm running Viper 2.5, latest US unlocked firmware and US unlocked selected as carrier, and it works fine on AT&T other than this......only other thing I can mention is when I select preferred band or whatever it shows WCDMA/GSM and if I change it to WCDMA/GSM/LTE it reverts back for some reason. Any help much appreciated. I've called AT&T and they're like, uh, we don't sell the HTC 10 so can't really help you... grrrrrr.....

I'd suggest ruu to stock us unlocked rom and see if the issue persists.
Or, try clean flash of viper.
I have no issues using US unlocked on AT&T with both stock rom and ice.
Thanks for trying to help. I just finished trying stock RUU and same problem. I'm convinced, as I was before, that this is AT&T's issue. I've read numerous posts this afternoon that because the HTC 10 (and other phones) aren't in their "LTE approved" database, nxtgenphone APN won't work, or it will only give HSPA speeds. Seems like everyone who has resolved it, or didn't run into the issue at all had another AT&T LTE phone they could use for the IMEI on the account, or the rep entered the model as an iPhone or similar to make it work. Really, really frustrating, as they refuse to help me and I'm starting to think I should just terminate in the 14 day window and do T-mobile or Verizon.
I have at&t and everything worked out of the box, I've never been on stock rom, always on Viper I did the unlock and s-off without a sim and never had an issue or called at&t to activate the device I just transferred my sim from my note 4 to the HTC 10, no provisioning issues at all, VOLTE works, LTE is fine as well while on a phone call... No issues... If you need anything to compare let me know

Thanks for replying. They did confirm it was a provisioning issue and they fixed it today. They had to do something different, as the default HTC 10 provisioning and IMEI check didn't fix it even when they tried it a second time, but they were able to adjust something and LTE definitely works now. VoLTE working here, too. Thanks!
