Live l1 and lite l1 is a completely different devices
This TWRP actually partially works for Live L1 (ZA550KL, SD425). The problems are 1) it can't decrypt /data, 2) it fails to mount /xrom (which is inexistent on the Go variant) and 3) no ADB/MTP, but for flashing ROMs/addons, backing up and restoring, it works nicely. Just letting y'all know about it.

Can you link me to the one you know of? I just found another one from TWRP Builder, and it did fix most problems, but I still can't use decrypted data (shows "encryption unsuccessful" on boot). And it doesn't expose /vendor either which is a small letdown. <- Fixed by unpacking and editing recovery.fstab.

I used a GSI to update from Oreo to Pie. But the TWRP has only 2 options (boot & Recovery) to flash the .img file. However, I did a restore & back with the old Oreo. I want to upgrade my Asus Lite 1 to Pie!! Is there any possibility to get the mobile back to the factory state including recovery? So, that I can begin from one.

Team Win Recovery Project 3.0.2-0
This is for the Exynos SM-J710F, SM-J710FN, SM-J710GN, SM-J710MN, SM-J710K models only!
WARNING: Flashing a custom recovery to your device will trip the Knox warranty bit on your phone. Check with your mobile provider to see if they will still cover warranty on Knox bit triggered devices. If you understand this risk, continue on.
WHAT IS TWRP?
Oh come on, you know what it is - don't try to fool me!
In case you're serious, though...
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.
DOWNLOAD
You can find the device page here:
http://teamw.in/devices/samsunggalaxyj72016exynos.html
There is a download link there, as well as instructions on how to flash it.
I highly recommend using Odin to flash when possible.
You can find a zip containing Odin as well as a link to Samsung's Mobile drivers page here:
https://idlekernel.com/flash-tools/
FULL STEPS FOR OBTAINING ROOT
In your ROM, go to Settings -> About device. Tap 7 times on Build number to enable Developer options.
{

}
Now go to Settings -> Developer options. (above About device)
You need to enable OEM unlock, otherwise you might end up with boot problems or be unable to flash later on.
Make sure your don't have Factory Reset Protection enabled in your Google account or you may never be able to boot again!
More information: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6172890?hl=en
Extract Odin_3.10.7.zip to your computer.
Install Samsung Mobile Phone Drivers for Odin to find your device.
Download a .tar image of TWRP for j7xelte.
Reboot your device into Download mode. To do this, select reboot from the power menu and hold the [Volume Down] + [Home] buttons while your device reboots.
Once you reach the Download mode warning screen, press [Volume Up] to continue.
Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot, under Options tab disable Auto Reboot, then press [Start].
Once the flash is complete (Odin should tell you in the log, and progress bar on phone should stop), you can pull the battery then place the battery back in. Now hold [Volume Up] + [Home] + [Power] buttons until you reach recovery mode.
If you end up in stock recovery, start again from download mode step.
At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
You will want to swipe to allow, otherwise the OS will replace TWRP once you boot!
If you want to be rooted with SuperSU:
Download the latest SuperSU by Chainfire.
Without exiting TWRP, transfer the SuperSU zip to your device over MTP* and flash it using [Install] in TWRP.
Go to [Reboot] -> [System].
* MTP, known as Media Transfer Protocol, is the same way you transfer files from your PC to your device when booted into system.

@jcadduono ,
Thanks for official TWRP.
Hello guy !
@jcadduono , thank you very much for great work ! It's fully working for my SM-J710FN
My internal storage doesnt mount. Requires to format data. And when i format the data, it becomes ok, and when you try to enter recovery again it doesnt mount the data, internal storage..
Sent from my SM-J710GN using XDA-Developers mobile app
Not sure if both are related but I had flashed this TWRP 4-5 days back. Last night after reboot (wasn't the 1st one after flashing certainly), phone didn't boot because of custom binary FRP lock. Had to reflash firmware.
@jcadduono why is the internal storage is not showing and why data is not mounting it gives always error

Normally on the newer Samsung devices we can flash https://idlekernel.com/fun-stuff-trust-me/no-verity-opt-encrypt/ and then go to the wipe page and use [Format Data] to turn off encryption.
It seems there is a bug with the Exynos 7870 devices that causes vold to encrypt the device regardless of whether or not boot image fstab actually calls for encryption, and I've tried removing all hints of encryption support from the boot image and yet still the system will start encrypting on the next boot.
TWRP does not support Samsung's closed off encryption as it relies on the Android OS frameworks.
I've tried submitting this issue to Samsung's Mobile Security team but they just shrugged it off and said you can't turn it off on purpose.
So pretty much you're SOL for data partition (internal storage is inside that) reading in TWRP until someone comes along with system modifications to disable encryption or a custom ROM.
Hi bro... @jcadduono
Thanks for making Official TWRP Recovery for our J7 2016. Really its great work Thanks again. :good:
I have a 2016 SM-J700P... with the Exynos processor. Will this TWRP work for me?
Guys, will the fact that I now have TWRP recovery (I have a J7 J700M Model, from Brazil), using Android 5.1.1 -> Android 5.1.1 (debloated) cause any harm if I try to install 6.0.1 Marshmallow (http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=SM-J700M) using ODIN??
Thanks!
@jcadduono with the custom kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/development/recovery-samsung-galaxy-sm-j710f-t3380736 encryption can be turned off.

After flashing china rom, need to boot to fastboot then execute the following commands in adb:
1. fastboot format userdata
2. fastboot flash recovery twrp.......
3. fasboot boot recovery twrp...... so the phone can boot into recovery then follow the rest of the guide if you want to flash xiaomi.eu rom
That's strange, but Orange recovery also reverted
You're right it shouldn't have installed but it did. The Orange recovery also installed, neither stuck tho
Awesome

I'm straggling with Chinese like most of us here. There is an android app you can install on your other phone which would use your cam to translate Chinese. Try that see if it helps...
What I am getting from this (cannot read chinese) but phone goes into fastboot - So I have formated, deleted the eu rom I had on the internal - so start again install the fastboot rom, twrp into it reboot twrp, have eu rom on SD Card and go from there.

Can I flash this instead
Hi, I'd also flashed miui_MIMAX3Global_V9.6.6.0.OEDMIFD_091e94a919_8.1
Can I flash this rom on top of the above?

Thanks, I'm afraid I'll brick the device?
Also struggled with twrp, switched back to miui's.
Look the twrp official site, find your device and follow step by step the fastboot method till the end. Worked.
I have solved the TWRP issue, the problem now is that when I flash a ROM it does not seem to work and crashes.
I am worried this is going to get bricked in this process. Maybe just wait for the official Global to come out

Thanks Martin you're very helpful I am now up and running. I am going to list a list of mistakes
1. I should have used CMD, not Powershell (type CMD in the address bar of the folder where your recovery is)
2. I did not know the sequence of flashing (change to F2FS, reboot recovery from within, Wipe Dalvic, Cache, Data) Then flash
3. I did not know how to boot recovery from fastboot (fastboot boot "recovery.img" "name of your recovery")
4. I did not know to change file system for data, (From TWRP Wipe->Advanced wipe->Repair or change file system. Select Data partition, select F2FS) change it then reboot recovery = see step 2 above.
Thanks Very Much
I am listing these for reference, and for those who help others to know what other errors may be committed.
Twrp supposedly installed -- twice -- but i got nothin'
Hi all,
I love this forum -- despite having a bunch of learning disabilities, I've managed to root a half dozen devices over the years thanks to your patience. This time I'm stumped.
Can't install TWRP. It says it is installed successfully with ADB (see screenshot). I used
twrp-3.3.1-0-nitrogen.img and I'm on I'm on Miui Global 10.3.5 Stable (Android 9PKQ1.181007.001).
Command line confirms installation. MM3 reboots when I enter the fastboot reboot to recovery command but it boots into the main system. I can boot into recovery using power/volume up method but it boots to the stock Mi recovery.
Should I try OrangeFox? Does this have anything to do with dm-verity? Is there anything else I can try to get root?
Originally, I wanted to install LineageOS, but what with locked bootloaders, anti-rollback, DM Verity, etc. , I'm guessing that's over my head and would happily settle for rooted stock.
Best,
Amy
Twrp supposedly installed -- twice -- but i got nothin'
EUREKA!!! I found a simple solution to install TWRP no worries about verity etc and I am rooted!
Genius idea came from Youtuber. Here is the link but I will still describe it in case the video gets removed for some reason.
You do it the regular stuff:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery "twrp filename"
But then while you're still in fastboot enter "fastboot recovery" into the command line and before you hit enter, press and hold volume up on the phone.
It boots into TWRP!
Note that you will keep getting Mi Recovery using volume down/power combo until after you use TWRP install (accessing TWRP with above method) to flash magisk.
Then, TWRP seems to stick. (Although just in case it gets unstuck, I installed the official twrp app from the Play store, since it has a 'boot into recovery' option.
Hi guys, today I'm going to explain you, how to use TWRP and also how to disable forced encryption
Very Important!!!!
Works for all ROMs included stock ROM
Take a backup of boot partition with TWRP in case of something goes wrong
Pre-requisites
1.- Unlocked Bootloader
2.- PC, drivers installed and plattform tools folder: https://www.dropbox.com/s/c3c8rev5e40gy5b/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip?dl=0
3.- TWRP for Moto E5 Play by @CodyF86 : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=3700668719832239867
4. No verity kernel by @MotoJunkie01 (Only for XT1944-2 or XT1944-4!!!!) : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NcyuFRgvvRiS5MT5Jxl3uS3XHCnULBMc/view
5. fstab.qcom by CodyF86 also: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=674106145207491856
Procedure
1.- While you have downloaded all necessary files, go to platform tools folder, and put there TWRP image
2.- Reboot your phone onto fastboot/bootloader, then open cmd and boot into TWRP with this code: fastboot boot twrp_james.img (don't try to flash it because it won't work, and you will need to do that in order to use TWRP, all the time!!!)
3.- While you are in TWRP, go to bakcup and select everything, put the backup into SD Card to prevent some accidents. (The time that it will take depends on how much things you have on your phone)
4.- When backup it's done reboot to bootloader and flash the no-verity kernel
5.- Reboot system
6.- Then use some root explorer, this one is free and very useful https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523691
7.- Copy downloaded fstab.qcom and go to vendor/etc, the replace the file with the new one and reboot
8.- Boot again into TWRP, and swipe for factory reset, then format data (Remember that you'll lost your data
9.- Reboot the device, and wait.
This method is easier than the other and works fine, if you go to settings/security you'll see that device is encrypted but if you open that option, you'll notice that encryption is gone.*

Thanks to @CodyF86 for TWRP and fstab.qcom

Maybe, try by your own risk, make a backup of boot partition because is the one that you'll need in case of something goes wrong
Thread updated, I've noticed that the previous method didn't work at all, and also I discovered that stock rom works fine without encryption, then if stock is decrypted, other roms won't be encrypted anymore
No verity kernel link is down pls re-upload it bro

This method is easier than the other and works fine, if you go to settings/security you'll see that device is encrypted but if you open that option, you'll notice that encryption is gone.*

hello first congratulations for this tutorial and your work, but there is a small problem with the famous no-verity ^^ it is impossible to download would it be possible to have new links? thank you in advance!!
Hi there. I tried a thousand times now ... no succeed. Everytime I try to boot to twrp_james.img the screen is not accessable anymore. No interaction possible.
Switching device off -> switching device on .... even the "swipe to unlock" doesn't work. I use Motorola Moto E5 Nora XT1944-2.
Any ideas?!

I have the same problem, I tried everything.
I'm unable to use TWRP (james).
after "fastboot boot twrp_james.img"
TWRP comes up with the Mount/dycrypt your data screen, a mouse pointer is visible in the middle. No user interaction is possible twrp doesn't seem to respond to touch screen user input.
Also the "No verity kernel by @MotoJunkie01 (Only for XT1944-2 or XT1944-4!!!!) : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ncy...XHCnULBMc/view" link is dead. Can someone reupload this files.
Does anybody have a fix for this problem? I'm using the Moto E5 XT1944-2.

I found a solution to use twrp on the Moto E5 Nora XT1944-2:
Use a micro usb to usb adapter (OTG adapter) and connect a mouse to you phone, now you can use twrp using the mouse.

In NO way it is compatible with Snapdragon variants including but not limited to American(U/A/T/P/V), Chinese(0/8/6), Hong Kong(0), Japanese(SC-*), Canadian(W) variants.
Special Notes:
1. DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE "OEM UNLOCK" (located in Developers options).
2. KNOX will be tripped once you flashed custom binaries to your phone.
(Your warranty may be voided. However this may not affect you if your country forces Samsung to provide hardware warranty regardless of software status.)
3. Samsung Firmware OTA (aka System Updates) will no longer work once you flashed custom binaries.
(You can flash custom ROMs if you want to keep the OS up-to-date.)
4. All apps that use KNOX like Samsung pay, Secure Folder and maybe more will no more work

Yes then you cam flash only twrp. But remember that zips made for lineage recovery dont flashes in twrp since twrp mounts the partitions differently

it's best to go global first coming from tmo. No, as long as you don't do an ota on Global. so flash global then boot, then flash custom rom(following their guide).
If u lose service modem is provided (Just unzip) Bootloader fastboot command "fastboot flash modem modem.img
This of course is assuming u got unlock.bin and unlocked Bootloader
Here we go!
Welcome @gwolfu
Hopefully we don't need 11.2.7.7?? It's not out here in EU yet, what's the reason most of the custom roms seem to want the EU build by the way?
CRDroid, fantastic to see this here my favorite ROM since the days of my LG G3! Can't wait to try this out, will sadly be waiting till TWRP tho as I'd prefer to avaoid gapps. Unless there is any chance of a non gapps build also? Cheeky....!

select the boot.img from internal storage
after done, copy magisk patched boot image from Download folder on phone storage, to PC
