Marketplace

I don't get it.
If I use the Android XDA app, the Marketplace is visible in General. Using a real browser however, it's not. A quick search for a link into the Marketplace rears a permissions error. And all of this without being registered. So what gives? Something I'm missing here?

what phone your using?
Oh, so it's now visible. After glancing through the rules/disclaimer it appears it'll become accessible after 8 posts for a noobjuice member. Clever.

You need more posts and/or a longer membership (I can't recall the details).
Guess the Tapatalk app needs fixing .

It's not the app...we've changed the permission on the Marketplace to not allow access to a user until he/she has made 8 posts. That 8 post level is also the same point at which you can post links. It's just an anti-spam measure. We found people were registering at XDA just to spam the site or the Marketplace. This helps.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
This is good to know. Long time lurker and finally signed up so I could post in the marketplace but alas!
Can someone link to the rules for gaining access to the Marketplace? I have 8 posts but still cannot see it. Tried logging out and back in but still nothing
For a while there I thought I needed to check my eye sight. Makes sense now.
Hard to achieve 8 post if you have nothing to say or to discuss or if everything is so well explained that you do not need answers
Maybe you could add a waiting time also. Lets say after 4 weeks you get to see the market, I highly doubt anyone would wait 4 weeks just to spam something.
It doesn't make sense that you can view the Marketplace before you sign up (and then have it dissapear after you are a member).
oh!! so thats why i couldnt c the marketplace
I am new here. it seem that this is an useful forum.
welcome to forums
Once you become an active/regula user all XDA features will be unlocked and you will be able to post in marketplace, this rule is to protect us from spammers/scammers
Ah I was wondering why I wasn't able to see that deal I saw anymore... guess I'm off to ask more questions.
I have been on the site reading for 6 months now trying not to poste but now i need to use the market so here is my 8th poste thanks.

Lol. Non-members can't see the marketplace anymore.
Trust me to say too much
As I said before:
Once you become regular/active members will see the benefit of having this
Meantime post and you´ll finally get access
Nice
Really smart security measure! I like it.

Intrusive ads? Post here!

The internet is full of advertisments and let's face it, almost every site that has an ounce of traffic uses ad revenue. The intention of xda is not to burden its members with ads that distract from the user experience. With that being said, if you have a problematic ad, please take a screenshot of the ad and post here so admin can take care of it. right now, that is the solution in place.
Thanks for your help in keeping XDA "intrusive ad free".

It doesn't happen all the time but I have this "mobprizes" redirect when visiting XDA.
Happened to me a few times so far, not sure if others are experiencing it.
Same as chazam ^^^^
First instance of it today. Web URL is mobprizes.com and the site header says 'Android Rewards'. Tried to browse XDA via Dolphin browser on Android and was auto-redirected to this spam page; you cannot press 'Back' or 'Exit' in the browser and have to click 'OK', whereupon another window opens asking you to enter your mob number (supposedly so they can contact you to sort out sending you your prize - which if you do a quick search on Google means you will receive plenty of premium rate text messages and no prize!).
Not sure what you folks can do but thought would mention it.
Incidentally, when performing a search re: this, one of the replies was on Yahoo Answers - when I clicked on this I was redirected to the same damn Android Rewards page!
I also noticed another forum in the search results is experiencing the same thing. Seems to be spreading.
Attached.
That ad at the bottom left corner just popped up from nowhere. I may not have captured it completely sry...
Edit: it's an IE rollover to view ad.
Hey everyone,
I have also created a forum where people (including myself) are experiencing similar problems.
Perhaps it would be a great idea to share our knowledge between the two forums and see what we can do to get rid of these annoying ads.
would of if i didnt have ad block

Same.
ok, as i got no response in the other thread, here's a repost of an intrusive ad i got the other day:
as you can see they were even trying to impersonate XDA's theme to trick you into thinking it was a legitimate XDA page?

The JS alert window looks like that, since FF4.0. Type javascript:alert('test message') into the address bar.
Please remove this
I'm not really bothered by the ads so i dont need an ad blocker but this 'IE rollover to view' ad is being a pain in the rear.
Pls get rid of it.
Thanks.
Edit: started using ad blocker
i clicked a reply notification from an email sent by the forum
this is the page it took me to
i blanked out my location to stop aliens tracking me
No offence meant to anyone here, but I'm quite surprised at all of this. Adblocks for Chrome and Firefox are available easily, nobody uses IE anymore and if you're on XDA you probably have a rooted phone and should logically therefore have an adblock app. If you really dislike ads, there's no need to put up with them

Don't the ads only work if you click on them? As fas as I know nobody actually clicks on the ads unless it's by accident to disabling them doesn't really have a negative effect on the site

I dont click on them, but there are a few which act weird when the mouse hovers over them accidentally. Like this one.
New Avast is too annoying, will be migrating our thousands of customers off it
I'm going to haveto agree with the OP in this one.
The advertising is becoming annoying and the re-registering method has been made to be difficult to see where the free option is...
Quickfix I disagree with you, this product is the most popular free Antivirus not because of bull**** advertising, but because of word of mouth!
Now instead of here's a great free AV the word is here is a great free AV with intrusive ads...
nvm
trm, please delete this post

I just had the same thing. I click on 'OK' or whatever it said when i should probably have just used the back button. It took me to the mobprizes thing which is clearly a scam. Hopefully just being taken to the site but not clicking anything wont have installed any malicious (i've literally no idea about android malware/viruses etc.).

For the attention of Autoprime

THanks to XDAs retarded rules that serve no purpose whatsoever other than annoy people Im forced to post here to let you know the CF download links dont work, returns a error asking to disable popups. Ive disabled every plugin in my arsenal, tried it on my phone and even installed a fresh browser but no luck.
Thanks for your great work
if the server detects ads are being blocked then it will say that. perhaps you have modified your hosts file to block ads or something.
works for myself and everyone else.. so I'm not sure what to tell you.

Why the Combination File on GW3 ?

I have already asked on the subforum of the watch3, unfortunately unanswered, forgive me if I repeat the question:
But what is the use of combination files for? Why do i have to go through the sdb? I can not flash an original firmware with an appropriate csc without the use of the sdb, like "old school samsung" ? what are the contraindications?
Maybe you can answer self...
Samsu.g increased Security against your Goal(s)...
No idea what your goal is.
But Samsung stronger stronger more Knox crap.. restriction bla Country Lock stupid Region Check bla crap.
Nobody force you to flash something or to use Tools against Samsu.gs Policy crap.
Tiny hints for you...
A
Search Buttons or Google...
Also Youtube can show cool Videos ...
B
No idea yet.
But I can remember your other post... but it is still not clear why you ask?
You wish to change CSC?
Best Regards

I would like to change region (csc), unless I could not buy a watch already OXA.
But I didn't understand why I had to use combination files if once to change region it was enough to flash the correct file.
Now if I understand correctly, Combination file use to avoid raising the Knox counter becuase samsung has raised the security levels even in the region change.
I had already tried to google thoroughly but never understood the real intentions of using combinations

I try to be clearer
Forgive me for the confusion
i have understand the the guide and how to change files.
My question was why do I need to use sdb and push and pull the prodcode & csc-active-customer instead of flashing AP-CSC-BL-CP like the old galaxy?
is it to prevent knox counter from going up or for other reasons?
I always get "connection timed out 110" error in AP mode. What to do?

GWA2 CTJ5 firmware disappeared from changelog pages

Does anyone know why the GWA2 R820 CTJ5 firmware disappeared from Samsung changelog pages (https://doc.samsungmobile.com/SM-R820/KOO/doc.html) since Monday? This is not happening on the Korean firmware only but on other CSCs. Did Samsung notice something (a critical bug perhaps) on its latest firmware and removed it?
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/KOO/SM-R820/version.xml
Seems still online...
Sometimes they play with database... maybe temporary gone...
Only Samsung knows what they are doing... and why...
Best Regards

Thanks! I check this page on a daily basis to see if a new firmware has been released. I also thought at first that they may be editing their db, but it has been 3 days know and I was kind of worried
To check if new Firmware is under development...
MonthS/yearS was use Test Server Link:
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/KOO/SM-R820/version.test.xml
Since few dayS maybe weeks... Samsung made it harder...
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/KOO/SM-R840/version.test.xml
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/KOO/SM-R800/version.test.xml
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/KOO/SM-R500/version.test.xml
They also changed something in QA crap... so I have no more access...
IMHO they interact like angry Ki.s...
Best Regards
