I am seriously considering this option due to the poor battery life and scratch issues. Anyone else on the same boat? Just curious to know what made you think about returning the device?

I am on the fence myself. The locked bootloader and an uncertain future regarding even a reliable root has me concerned. T-Mobile is slowly turning into the carrier I left (VZW) for them.
I believe I am going to be returning. I still have 9 days to be within my 14 day return period for Verizon. I am just overall not very impressed with the phone. I came from an iPhone 6s. The only things I have been enjoying more are the larger screen and the fact that it is ip68 resistant. I haven't been using the s-pen as much as I thought I would and the overall user experience for me just hasn't been as satisfying as I had hoped. I am also very, very unimpressed with battery life.
I think I'm going to return the the 6s and wait to see what Apple offers in a few weeks with the new iPhone. If not that, then I'll wait till early next year for another Samsung device possibly. Probably won't pre-order again either. Let others get their experience in and find out the faults of the phone before I go through ordering myself.

This is always the case regarding root and locked bootloaders concerning Samsung phones in recent years, my friend. I have been using this phone without a case and love the ergonomics of the phone. I use it mainly for business and an iPhone 6s Plus as my personal. The S-pen comes in handy with signing docs, smart select is useful, and note taking in general. I have not been happy with battery life compared to the Moto Z Force I put in the drawer for this. Overall I'll more than likely keep it because it suits my needs with business.
My screen has uneven backlighting and there is no other stock still for the phone. I will not keep a defective phone which is why I'm considering it, I am overall impressed with the device considering its features. It's a little slower than some other android phones I have used like the oneplus 3 and the nexus 6P. I think I would keep it otherwise.
SOT > 6h
No battery draining issues.
Phones are as snappy as it can be.
I suggest if you have lag issues, go to your friendly neighbourhood carrier outlet and have your device checked or exchanged.
I am using an international exynos FD model.

The battery life is bugging me a lot. Also, the stuttering is stupid for such an expensive phone. Lastly, it isn't enough for me to leave my iPhone. I know.. i know... the iPhone just worked. Thats it.
Anyone talking Iphone on this thread is looking for a reason to go back to that "limited" format. My device works perfect! The only battery issues i have is with my GearS2
Glass back? Broke in 16 hours. Idiotic and really, gorilla Glass? Dropped it maybe 2.25 ft. From sitting down and it shattered. Thought shattered anything was an iPhone issue. Have had nothing but Samsung since the first note. Never a case issue till 2 feet ago.
Stupid. Glass back? Who the **** cares about the back

Agreed this is the 1st note with good battery life. The device itself though is physically just too fragile. Samsung front, iPhone back. They testify it has gorilla glass in the back but .....

Literally just packed my Note 7 back into its box, and being returned later in the morning. Didn't even last me a full week unfortunately. I truly wanted to love this phone, I really did, but the amount of lag that this phone suffers from is just unacceptable for its high end price.
Having high hopes now for the LG V20, and the new Nexus...

Yes, i am holding back on the Note 7 to see what the LG brings. Looks promising so far.
HELL NO. Just got the LED case and I love it. This phone is awesome.
If only samsung would reply to my emails about the Gear Fit 2.... I submitted the redemption but no response...

Zero clue how you are getting that long of SOT. That is nuts. I decided not to return the phone anyway, but the best SOT I have seen so far is around 4 hours. Is there anything you have done specifically to increase your SOT. 9-9 hours is really a lot.

I will also hold up and now seriously thinking on keeping the S7 Edge which literally is the same phone... i too had hopes that diminished sadly. For years a fan of the Note's series..
I ve written an article about why the OnePlus 3 is the better phone to get here.. and why Samsung has let us down again.

Before any of you return your Note 7 for battery issues, please try the steps in the following link. I along with most others had these same issues with the S7E and now many of us get 2 days and 9 hours SOT with one charge.
Follow these steps and report back.

Thats a garbage post mate. A lot of users do even more than this. Even with 129 disabled apps / services I dont need, disabled GPS, all of the random sensors in settings, and SOO much more.. I should be getting more SOT than 6.5.

My house is pretty damn cold some times lol.
Due to a particular sale in India , Nextbit Robin is available quite cheap now
Its a long time since the phone has been released , so is the phone still worth buying ??
Please reply your review , and how does it run games like FIFA 16 etc , along with its heating and battery issues
I heard it would be getting updates regarding battery fixes
Thanks a lot and I hope you reply to help me make my decision
Battery life is not great. Unique, build and feel is great! Wish there was more roms and updates.
But 40% off of the $300 price is a good deal
With 40% discount? Take it, I had to buy one for almost 400$ (official store + EU taxes).
Now, being more serious, take this phone if you want something with screen smaller than 5.5' (Robin is 5.2'). Otherwise, compare it to LeTV's, OnePluses and Xiaomis, and then decide.
Hi guys !
I was plaining to buy a nexus5x in the last 4 mounths , but I hesitated a lot especially after the bootloop problem that a lot of people are claiming to have on their phones.
the reason that I wanted a nexus5x is basically the low price , besides the fact that it's a great phone with amazing specs + I already had a Smsung Tab A(6)(free) so I tought it would be wiser to keep it and buy a nexus 5x, instead of sealling it and spend all the money on a galaxy s7 or somthing like it.
So what do u think is the best choice :
to keep the Tab + buy nexus 5x(just a 16gb is available , with no warranty so if it brokes I'm done !!!)
or
to buy the s7
and thanks to all
The answer to the question whether Nexus 5X is still worth it depends on the price you pay for it. I got mine last summer for just 240USD and I still think it was worth it. It has a bright screen with objectively proven accurate colors. It has a very good photo camera and an extremely fast fingerprint reader. It has a very lean ROM, and very frequent monthly updates. The Nexus 5X was the first smartphone to receive the Nougat update (along with other Nexus devices). Even today, the only device that can challenge the Nexus 5X in the price-performance ratio (in USA at least) is the Huawei Honor 8.
Compare it to what else you can get for the same price. I'm still enjoying mine after over a year but there are different options to choose from at this point.
I just got my nexus 5x 2 weeks ago. and if you ask me i will say you that go for it man, its amazing device with less money. S7 is great too but you have to pay more for that, and what i love abt nexus 5x is its stock android and frequent updates if u are a stock android lover and want your phone to be updated than nexus 5x is for you.
Its not worth it. Trust me, the parts to fix it are expensive, it heata up during summer like crazy. The back is made of crap material and overall battery life while active is terrible. Get the OP3 or OP3T if you can. I should have bought that, but I was impatient so I opted for this crappy device
As others have said, it really depends on what you pay. I'm loving mine. I've had no problems so far, battery is acceptable, and running Nougat without problem. I couldn't ask for more from a device which I paid only $300 USD for.
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3
( Kenzo) The snapdragon variant. Lots of development.
Thanks

16GB isn't worth it unless you're getting it for like $100.

Also, tell from which device you are upgrading or staying...?
Big news!
quote from http://bgr.com/2018/02/25/galaxy-s9-preorder-pricing-best-deals-t-mobile-vs-verizon/
"Best Buy’s preorders will open on Friday, March 2nd, and Best Buy has a big headline offer to try and entice customers. Best Buy customers save $100 when preordering on a Verizon, AT&T or Sprint plan, on top of saving up to $350 when trading in a qualified smartphone. That’s total savings of $450, although as we note below, Verizon and AT&T are charging significantly more than Samsung for the device, so assuming Best Buy is using Verizon and AT&T’s pricing, the savings compared to buying from Samsung are not as great as it might seem."
That's 390 for S9+ and 270 for S9
What!
Currently have S7 Edge and i'n thinking to get the S9+, but i'm very disappointed with the design.

Nah!!! Sticking with the best phone...One Plus 5t....
If it doesnt come with the OEM unlock issue the note 8 has (talking about exynos, i dont waste money on crapdragon versions) i will get one.
If it does then ill pass on it like i did not on the note 8.

In all likelihood I'll be going to the S9+ from the Essential PH-1. The Essential was a terrible choice for me but I couldn't justify over $1000 for a pixel 2XL. I'll likely get the S9+ through my carrier. I've gotten quite used to stock Android over the years so a skinned version on the Galaxy will be different. We'll see....
I'll be getting the S9+ at the beginning of 2019, when the price starts to decrease a little. I'll be upgrading from my S7 Edge which just turned a year old few weeks ago.

Dont do it.
I got a S8+ last december and i regretted it. battery was the worst (3,5-4h sot max) and the software lag too annoying. samsung is good for the first 6 months, then they begin to age rapidly
everybody knows that so i had sell my s8+ for a lot less than i bought it for. got me a mate10pro, happy now.
if u want s9 so badly, try to look for second hand around 2 months after launch... i think thats the better choice if you still want to experience the high

I would have to agree on the first part, where Samsung's software does not age beautifully most of the time (my S7 edge thankfully is still running well and has maintained it's fluidity even after a year). Samsung still needs to learn to prioritise on optimisation IMHO. They focused wayy to much on the UI/UX till they forgot about the core system itself.
And yeah. I might also consider going for a second hand S9+ if the reviews don't go according to my expectations. I'll be waiting for MKBHD's (popular tech guy) review and will be watching it the moment it becomes available.

I will agree, upgrading from a s7e is useless, the only reason that can be is a little more processing power, but still it isn't enough, and s7e for me too is running smoothly although there had been issues with build quality, but i really don't think mate 10 is more in performance than s8, maybe in other areas like ui etc it could be. I will pass on s9 and wait until there is a phone with real upgrade not some marketing gimmicks.

True, the mate10pro has exceptional battery life as well as lag free UI though. Before s8 I had a huawei Nexus 6p, had great battery life too (got warranty replacement after 1.5 years with fresh battery) so the s8 kinda feld like a downgrade.
I think the CPU speed is highly overrated nowadays and does not make a real impact on everyday use. (Apples Chip ist supposedly 2x faster than 835 but does the iPhone feel 2x faster?
All in all I upgraded for the bezelless screens... Anything else my Nexus 6p was almost as good at.
Anyone else who has a 2016 flagship (s7e or mate 9 or iPhone 7) should not upgrade for another reason than the larger screens... Anything else in the new phones has only improved a little and does not justify the price in my opinion (unless having the latest tech is part of your lifestyle)

Agreed , but iphone 8 and X is almost 2x faster in real life too, so yes cpu power does impact in real life, search for their app loading times and video editing times on web, the fastest android phones were note 8 and then s8, they were lagging almost 1.5x.
And yes mate 10 got excellent battery life too thanks to its 4000 mah battery, i think every phone should have atleast 4000 mah battery these days,

Well I don't know anyone who is editing video on his phone... That's what I mean with everyday a friend friend of mine has iPhone 8 and it doesn't feel significantly faster in my opinion, it's more about ram keeping apps for running (so you don't actually need to look for launch speed) and internet speed
Yes I think the biggest Upgrade in the future needs to be bigger batteries in order to keep up with the screens and all the other new stuff

You know I have the s7 edge since release, it is still a beast. Can handle any game on the play store, lags here and there. But dont thing upgrading is worth it imo. Maybe when foldable phones come lol
Which custom rom & kernel developers will be getting the S9/S9+ ?
If not, will they be getting the Note 9 instead ?
I think i would be upgrading because this sounds like a perfect replacement for iphone-7. As for performance , I think it depends individual to individual on his config and usage patterns. There are 3 galaxy phones in my house including an aging s6 edge and all seem to be working fine.
Yes, its hard to match iphones in their speed and zero-lag but there are so many trade-offs that purchasing a iphone ahead of a s9 or a note-8 is not a worthy option.
I'm on Galaxy Note 4 and LineageOS 14.1. UHD video recording is not working and I need it. Better low light performance too on S9+. I don't like the curved glass though. I'd also much rather take a removable battery over any kind of IP rating but gotta move along with the times, I guess. I don't undertsand the all-glass exterior idea at all - it's slippery and a protective case is a must, adding to the cost.
Definitely getting an S9 as long as there's no down payment on Jump on Demand. On a v30 now, and the thing is just crap. It stutters - literally. As in the sound stutters and I have to reboot to fix it. It also has all kinds of lag on bluetooth stuff. 8 years on Android and never had anything this bad. Going back to Samsung and not looking at LG for a long time again.
I will stay on my S8 for now... S9 designed so bad... ?

I wouldn't buy a US or Canadian version, the bootloader's will be locked again...total waste of money.
Go exynos for sure, the OEM unlock issue is a helluva alot better to have than have the device be totally locked down.

Don't get me wrong cracking bit of hardware but there is no dev support going on.
Gpay has been broken for months
And my main feature I look for is the camera.
I was looking at the 3a XL but spec for spec the 2xl looks the better buy still
Im still using the Pixel 2xl, since 04.2018. IT have a one year. I've used S10e and S10 and I wouldn't want them. Pixel 2 xl still rocks hard. I don't feel that it is almost a 2yr phone.

Personally, if you can find one, and your looking for great value, and pretty good Dev support, the P2XL is a solid choice. Mine will be 2 years old in October, and I still get excellent battery life, monthly updates, and run stock rooted without any major bugs at all. Yeah, it doesn't have the best of screens, or sound volume, but everything is is pretty darn solid IMHO. The P3 series isn't much of an update, and see several problems with those as well on the forums. So there's by 2 pennies worth

You can get a used one on swappa for $248 right now.
Still pretty worth it. IMO the only reason to buy the 2XL is for the UFS since the 3aXL has eMMC so it has much slower performance in opening apps.
Overall, Pixel 3a is a great buy, especially if you have an old iPhone lying around. Google is offering $250+ for iphones as old as the SE. That brings the price down to $230 for a new phone. No telling how long it will last though. The SD 670 will be outdated fairly quickly compared to the 835.
If you're not shy for doing battery replacement on the P2XL, it will be a great phone for many years to come.
If you are shy to doing battery replacement, buy the 3a. The pixel 2 batteries are going to start going bad within a year and the performance impact of a bad battery is far greater than the performance impact of eMMC and the SD 670.
Also people are reporting up to 12 hours of SoT for the 3a. You will never get that from a pixel 2 XL no matter how many battery hacks you install.
Just managed a trade for my mi8 ,I'm pretty useless with battery replacements I knackered my old 6p
Got a p2xl today what's first thing I should do , just root or any preferred kernal and rom
