Just bought op5t ..
i used to flash roms on my previous phone s7 edge, n want to root this phone as well
i came across the desired thread but its mentioned for oos 5.1.5 . i want to know if 5.1.7 can be rooted the same way with files provided in the original post of rooting guide thread ??? do i need diffrnt files from those mentioned in the orignl post of the thread as someone said 5.1.5 users need recovery other than twrp .
m just confused , dnt want to brick my new phone
it should be similar.
Do i need to flash a custom kernel as well ??
or just unlocking boatloader, flashing recovery n rooting will suffice??
No, it's optional.
FWIW, I have tried franco kernel & blu_spark. They both work flawlessly.

Iam requesting for developers can someone please keep provide on root for lgh815 for locked boot loader on 6.0 instead digging for unofficial boot loader unlock, that will be thankful.
i dream ,i hope so much too...
i have already asked what happen if we flash a zip MM rooted firmware (or imperium) with Chainfire's flashfire ....when we have a rooted Lollipop firmware and an eventual factory-reset with physical buttons...
but never have had answers ...

Its not possible because on the rooted rom, the kernel its modified and when a locked bootloader phone tries to load it on boot...it will fail...
But i believe , in time, someone are going to find a hack/exploit to achieve root on locked phones
I already tried that it leads to bootloop...
i knew about this kernel problem....
but the main question is : why flashfire seem incapable to flash a "full" firmware (kernel included) like lgup/bridge/ota.... ?
And Chainfire have anounced that his flashfire is "the future" for to flash roms and firmwares ...
@xoxey it's nice to have tried
there are options that you have missed ? eventualy...
Root on 6.0 without unlocking bootloader is literally impossible because in Marshmallow Google changed their policy and now to root it you have to have modified boot.img flashed onto your device, original boot image will not allow you to have a root access or use custom recovery. It would be easy to just grab a boot.img of random kernel like SimpleGX or Imperium and flash it via fastboot, but there is a problem - bootloader basically loads your boot and if it locked it will load it only if the boot is signed, unmodified, although it leads to a bootloop. Only way to do this is to unlock it officially, and then, if you don't want to downgrade to 5.1, grab a boot.img of a kernel, flash it via fastboot (because stock boot will not allow you to flash recovery due to causes I have mentioned above), flash the recovery via fastboot, then to void bugs flash the full kernel (any of them, can be different than the one you used before, it just has to be full package) and then simply flash SuperSU v2.67. There is no different possible way to root it on 6.0.
Have you guys tried this guy's method to get temp root using kingroot? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3314927

Yh i tierd all possible ways to root my lg g4 on 6.0..i dont care of bootloops becoz i know how to fix them??
Guys i guess this is not appropriate to create a new thread to ask but i am not getting answer and i dont want to brick deviceQ
Question is, i have been facing some issues regarding rooting so please guide me
1) i want to root d855 , what is valid method in 2017, i have seen many videos and red threads but all are different and everyone doesn't have same results, ( some people are complaining that they have bootloop after flashing latest su etc and some are saying they cant root with kingroot and end up bricking with auto recovery)
2) After rooting stock rom, how can i flash latest recovery to flash fulmics and nougat based roms ?
3) what is the purpose of bump if it is even not mentioned in any rooting thread or video ?
Pardon me for any mistake, cant find better place to ask so please guide me ?
1st, you must flash a custom recovery. TWRP is the best. You do that from Odin.
2nd, you boot to TWRP and then, from twrp, you can do whatever you want : flash Supersu, to get root; flash a new, stock or mooded rom, etc.
You can search for all these steps in xda, but this is the general idea.
Hope this helps

Sorry, i said Odin, but this one is for Samsung. For LG, look for some flash tool for your PC, it's the same way.

Actually, tings are a bit different for this phone, compared to Sammy... You have to have root to begin with, in order to flash TWRP . Not the other way around. There is no "some flash tool" that would let you flash a custom recovery on an unrooted G3. If you find a way to do it as you describe, you'll be an instant hero in the community, no doubt...

Hi everyone, this is my first post
This winter I had decided to install the GCam on my Mi A2 lite, so I followed a guide (I'm not able to mod any phone) I managed to install the cam. To install that I obv needed to root my phone and indeed on Root Checker that was rooted. Some months later, the phone was automaticatly updated and after that I don't know how that lost his rooting and the possibilty to use Gcam (and other apps). I didn't want to do all the process again so I let that go.
Now I'd like to install the Pixel Experience ROM on my Xiaomi tho, but I read that I need to have root permission and the bootloader unlocked. My bootloader is already uncloked, because in developer's option, under "Unlock OEM" is written. "the bootloader's already unlocked."), but I have no root permission. I don't know what to do, because as I said I'm totally ignorant.
Can I install a custom recovery without root permission? How can I install the Pixel Rom? I need to root again my phone?
Thank you all for you help!

You need for sure an unlocked bootloader but regarding root although you don´t need it to flash a custom recovery nor a custom rom probably is better that you have it so you might need to do other things like install mods that need root.
Just flashing the Magisk you´ll recover the lost root status again but if you don´t have recovery now just boot on it through fastboot and then flash it over your actual rom or if you want the Pixel rom just follow the tutorial posted in the thread.

Do I need a TWRP Recovery tho? Because I read on some guides that's a requisite to instal Pixel Rom.
And please, can you link me the tutorial you mean? Because I can't find out that.

Yes, you need a custom recovery like TWRP and regarding tutorial there is a how-to-install method on every custom rom and also in the thread of a Pixel rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/development/rom-pixel-experience-t3911489 they´re just some few steps

To be honest I can't find where's the tutorial into that thread :crying:
Anyway I've just thought that maybe I've already have a TWRP. I did a lot of operations when I installed the GCam, so maybe I also did that. Is there a way to find out if I already have it?

Oh sorry since I don´t use PE rom nevermind there is not a tutorial there but you will find one here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...0-ressurection-remix-os-xiaomi-mi-a2-t3954197 it´s the same process (more or less) for any custom rom.
If you are on a custom rom just booting using advanced power reboot you can go to recovery to see if it still stays there, also you can go manually using key combination (vol up + pwr from a device off) and you have too adb reboot recovery command to boot on it.
Hi everyone
Sorry I am confused; there does not seem to be an ultimate universal root / twrp installation guide for the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite phone (my son's phone) in 2019.
No offense intended but all these various posts on the topic just help to confuse people!
I managed to unlock the bootloader but can anybody please tell me what is the easiest / user-friendliest way to install twrp (which version?) and root the phone so that I may proceed with flashing LineageOS afterwards to get rid of all the bloatware.?
what about these partitions A & B?
Thanks a lot in advance

[EDIT] er... this is for flashing a custom rom!
I did some extra research out of XDA
[Guide] How to root Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite
and
How To Root Mi A2 / A2 Lite (Magisk) and Install TWRP Recovery
but again... confusing! which one should I go for?
(I already tried the later one and created another post following an issue with it!)

It depends on what you want to do.
Root doesnt need TWRP, just Magisk. There's a guide on here.
Flashing custom ROMs needs TWRP. Each custom ROM has specific instructions.
There's no one-size-fits-all solution for this phone.

Hi @a1291762 & thanks.
This is what I am saying it is confusing; I have been thru a few phones (samsungs, LGs, lately Xiaomi...)
and the process was first install twrp then root and then you could flash roms
I know when you flash LineageOS, you get root included in dev options so from your explanations I will look how to flash LineageOS but currently I'm struggling installing twrp as you have seen in my other post

My last phone didn't have A/B or encryption or use Magisk for rooting... So for me everything about this phone was new and different.
I started with stock (android one means I didn't immediately want a custom ROM). Then added Magisk. I added TWRP after edxposed caused me bootloops (magisk manager CLI can run from TWRP). I haven't installed a custom ROM yet but I've got a custom splash and bootanim.
hello guys! im rooting phones some years now but first time im afraid to do that i see alot hard bricks etc so i want to ask
i have the last firmware now global (phone is global 2) if i put twrp for magisk i have to stop upgrade the phone right?
second. i never liked stock roms so again... if i put twrp i can flash whatever rom i want or there are steps every time so i wont brick the phone? thank u guys for ur time
dont do it
For rooting stock ROM, you can flash twrp and flash magisk but you should be careful to pick a recovery which is for android 10 and also not for CFW.
For flashing custom roms, you should read the megathread. It's not very complicated and if you follow the exact steps, you will not get bricked.

It's all explained in the megathread, sir. For custom ROMs you need CFW recovery but for you to be on CFW you need to flash CFW with a non-CFW recovery.
Best way to do it is in the CrDroid post.
Have a nice day!
tl;dr: flash Android 9 then megathread

i tried rooting with magisk on latest android 10 miui 11 , basically you will fail safetynet and basic integrity will fail as well you can try to hide fingerprint with magisk busybox and props module and type su to give termux root access and edit fingerprint to pixel 4 but it's not guaranteed i don't know if there is google attestation hardware in begonia anyways you can try.
here's a pic from pixel experience safetynet.(not rooted)
