Is there a way to override slow wireless charging and get the rapid speeds like with the pixel stand?
Right now the only way is to get a Pixel Stand. They are partnering with other companies (such as Belkin) to make a certified "made for Google" line of chargers that will support the fast charging. Unclear if it will enable the other Pixel Stand features like the sunrise alarm, photos, etc.
https://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F7U050-MG/
Hopefully other companies make some cheaper options that can use the fast charging.
Would be great if there was a patch to trick the Pixel 3 phone into thinking it was attached to a pixel stand.

Yes, I would look around in the kernel threads to test the possibility. My N7 is running EX Kernel and it (using EXKM) still has a "USB Fastcharge" toggle. I do not see this option in the N6P, P2XL or P3XL though. The advent of USB-C and PD may have changed things on the newer phones. My guess is that it is not available or flar2 would have included it. That being said, I do have the Google Stand and I can tell you it is NOT "all that". I would have been just as happy with a slow charging "dumb" wireless charger. I would never have purchased it if it was not half price on BF. On previous phones, I almost exclusively used the wireless charging overnight so speed was never an issue.

I'll trade you one of my cheaper wireless chargers then for the pixel stand!
And I still agree there has to be a way toggle that or edit it in for different wireless chargers

Last I read about the P3XL and wireless charging is related to the standard the charger has. There was something about a security check before fast charge was enabled, everyone else charges at the lower rate. Right now there is only one charger I have read about besides the P Stand that works.

Maybe a noob question here, but I was hoping to get wireless charging on my 2XL with a Nilken USB-C adapter. Works great on my N6P, but on the Pixel 2XL I get no charge. It registers as charging, but the battery % never goes up, even after an hour+. Is there an obvious reason why? I can't find any info anywhere.
Suggestions on getting wireless charging working?
Can't wirelessly charge a phone with a metal backing
If you really need wireless charging, there are USB-C pads that you mount inside a case. Check Amazon

That is my point. I bought a Nilken USB-C wireless charging adapter for my Pixel 2 XL. It works on my Nexus 6P fine, but won't charge my 2XL. Seems weird to me.
This is what I'm using:

My Pixel 2 XL will only charge with my old Pixel XL or the new one that was shipped with the phone. Even my car charger won't charge up the new pixel. I get the charging icon in the display but it always stays at the same charge?
Maybe your in the same boat as I am in?
That it will only charge with the Pixel chargers (old or new)?
Anyone else having this issue??
That link is for the short version. I'd think being the XL you'd want the long version.
That would suck. I need to be able to charge the phone while using it for navigation for long-distance road trips.

Wow, that sucks! Ive been using my Samsung charger without any issues, and I double checked my off brand car charger and it was working fine. Charging normal as far as I can tell. If you can't charge with normal chargers, might want to RMA...

I tried charging last night with a standard low amp iPhone charger and I didn't get any charge at all, even though the charge light was on. Seems the Pixel 2 XL wont charge with low amp chargers? I was able to charge on a high amp car charger. Try that maybe?
That's what I thought, thankfully I have 2 pixel chargers now, (1 from my old Pixel XL and the new one)
Another note:
Had to RMA my brand new Pixel 2 XL as phone calls could only be heard from the speaker not the earpiece itself. I thought we had fixed this issue previously when I called into Google Support and we wiped the phone thus fixing the no sound issue but I noticed this past Saturday that it came back!
New phone should be here Tuesday or Wednesday.
Don't think the Pixel 2 launch this year was as smooth as Google would have liked!
It charges me with the turbo charger from the N6 as well as 2 port charger I have in my truck. It just says charging, not slowly or rapidly... The 2 port quick charger was for the N6.
A wireless charging coil that works with this phone would be great. I am somewhat invested into qi technology with the cradle in the truck and the stand on the night stand.

Seems like because the qi adapters are not fast charging, and the Pixel 2 doesn't seem to charge at all with low power chargers, wireless charging might not be an option yet. Inwas hoping too! Awesome to just thrown the phone on the cradle at night and no wires to f with. Maybe another battery case manufacturer will make a battery case with wireless charging again.

I have the same wireless add-on and it used to work brilliantly on my OG Pixel, but you are correct - I can't get it to work with my 2 XL. Like yours, it says "charging" but the percentage doesn't move overnight. Interestingly, I don't think it reduces in power either (I haven't been paying close attention, but I'm pretty sure I've woken up to the same % each morning that I fell asleep to). I will try again tonight.
The short vs long version of the hardware are identical except that one is longer for when it's in a case you can center it on a flat qi base, so that won't make a difference.
Very strange. I do have a fast charging wireless charger on order that I will try when it arrives, but I'm not confident it will solve the problem.

my charger looks similar. What powder brick are you using? I have a 3 different 2a wireless charging pads, and have been using the Samsung quick charger and still can't get any juice to my Pixel 2XL. I wonder if a USBC to MicroUSB will make a difference? But I don't see why...
So curious why this doesn't work!
Belkin BOOSTUP Wireless Charging Pad 10W for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is coming in time. It will ACTUALLY charge at 10watts wirelessly like the Google wireless pad, but it will NOT do the extra tricks that the Google wireless pad does.
60$ USD
So $20 cheaper than google's charger. But you don't get the standing charger. And like Bukem75 said you wont get the Wireless tricks that do pixel charger does. But i'm sure that's not a problem with people here at XDA someone might come out with a modded apk or something to fix that.

I pretty much avoid anything by belkin, so i'll pass on that. I also can't get myself to buy the Pixel Stand on principal, basically forcing their own proprietary wireless charging spec instead of just using the one everyone else uses. I would totally be interested if their proprietary standard was there just for their enhanced features, but I have fast wireless chargers everywhere (including my car) that are now limited to slow charging because they wanted to force the sale of their accessories.
Hoping someone researches the fast wireless charging issue to see if it's just a software limitation on the Qi fast wireless charging.

Correction, everyone else is using proprietary technology for fast wireless charging. The Qi standard is used by all brands up to 5w. After that, Samsung built it's own tech to reach 10w and apple did something else to reach 7.5w. All the chargers on the market these days have been forced to support 3 different charging specs because of this.
Now, Google COULD use the Qi spec for charging faster than 5w, but for whatever reason, it chose not to and is now adding a 4th wireless charging tech to the market that nobody asked for.
This reminds me of the wired fast charging cluster f**k between QC, FC, SC, PD, VOOC, and DASH. There's clearly one tech that is superior to the others, and yet, here we are, 3 years later, still trying to figure out which charging brick can work with what phone.
I prefer the slower wireless chargers to extend battery life. Use the plugin brick when traveling. Replacing the battery in this thing is not a simple task.
Is fast charge software based, or hardware? Can custom ROMs unlock this feature so any wireless charger can be used to fast charge?

Portable charger type c to type c works too
I remember some people experience issues trying to fast charge with wireless chargers not authorized by google. You can mod stuff to do it, but if it breaks your phone you have no recourse.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a fast wireless charger? The official Google stand is crazy expensive and doesn't actually meet the max capabilities (12W EPP)

The Pixel Stand is buggy as hell with the Pixel 5 (or maybe the other way around?). So you might be better off sticking with USB-C for the time being anyway.

For max output doesnt the charger need to be google certified!
I'm asking because, as far as the Pixel 3 goes, that was the case. The Pixel stand, from reading, was the only wireless charger that was compatible in that sense.

I bought Yootech wireless charger for my Pixel 4, it also works at around 10W with Pixel 5. I've not tested many, but from what I've seen on some forums most of the chargers would only work at 5W with P4. Not sure if anything has changed with P5. I'm using it with the original Pixel 18W charger, as I bought it without one.

Well i ended up buying one and although it is very well made and charges quickly i didn't like how hot my phone got when left on it overnight to charge so I'll be sending it back. This isn't a fault of the charger though more a side effect of the technology, it is just a shame it doesn't cut off totally at 100%. If you are going to be using it to just top up for the odd hour or so it is hard not to recommend it though, it is hard to believe they only want a tenner for it to be honest, a great find by kinny314.

Alright, I tried it out on my stand and even though it charged rapidly (looked up the Amps going in with AccuBattery), the AOD just says "charging wirelessly" - I guess Google removed the "rapid charging" notice with wireless charging.
Update: ignore that realign message. I'm using a case that is of normal case thickness (2-3mm) and using the Ampere app have verified I'm charging at 23W , the max allowed by the stand. Pow. Done.
Mine works fine apart from adaptive charging, charging the phone well before the alarm rendering it pretty much pointless
