Hey guys
I am considering getting the G3 and theres about £50 difference between 32 and 16gb version, is the 3gb/32gb actually worth it? Seen some tests and the difference was hardly noticable...anybody has any experience with both versions and could compare?
Thanks!
I don't have the link handy but a review was done with both versions, and the benchmarks were nearly the same. With microsd support, I'd see no reason just for another 1gb of ram personally.

Every android phone I've ever had from 256kb to 2gb has eventually needed more memory. More memory means you can run more, cache more and be future proof. If your only keeping the phone for a year, then 2gb will probably be fine, if keeping for 2 years then I would get the 3gb version
Not exactly sure what 50 euros is in usd but if it's any where from 50-100 it's well worth it imo, especially since you get a sdcard & ram upgrade.
2gb ram has been the flagship standard for a while now, my HTC one gets pretty close to full ram usage at some points. More ram guarantees smooth performance for heavy usage as well as future proof specs, and don't forget the g3 has that qhd resolution and once higher (than 1080p) resolution videos become more common you'll be glad you went with the extra ram.
well the 16gb version, not sure what batch is it and where is it imported from(assuming Korea) goes for 1950 PLN = 373.8150 GBP according to google while the 32gb version which is imported from Korea goes for 2250 PLN = 431.3250 GBP so yeah not a big difference but still.
The thing is that I dont really play games on a mobile, most of the time I would just use it for browsing, mail, facebook, gps/maps, apps and camera damn, decisions decisions...

Well i never had the choice... Only 16gb was available in UK. I would defo spend another 50 quid to get extra storage... You're planning to spend a lot of money already so extra 300pln is not that bad isn't?

Personally I would just save the money and buy the 16gb and get a massive SD Card instead. I doubt there is any noticeable difference in performance unless you have a gizillion apps open at the same time. In fact I remember reading an article where an LG employee says the phone is optimised to run on 2GB RAM.
The only reason I can think of to get the 32GB version is if you do not plan on getting an SD Card, then the extra storage is definately worth it. And maybe resale value will be higher...

I think the extra on board storage is, now, very important as, in the up to date google builds, moving app data to sd is very restricted.

Unless you root...
But even so, internal storage is better than SD card for many reason (ease of use, speed)
I picked the 32GB from Germany, very happy I did so.
Get the one with 3gb ram, I can't believe they are still releasing phones with 2gb ram.
I have a Z1 and since I started using a custom launcher whenever I have some apps open and press the home button the homescreen redraws and it's not nearly as quick as before.
Also some apps don't stay cached when I reopen them.
The G3 with its massive resolution should eat even more ram.

I've just read a review here http://pclab.pl/art58419-7.html where they've tested the 2gb version and said it lags a lot, the CPU and GPU gets hot a lot, that it would be better if there was full HD than QHD, that the screen dims weirdly and that the screen gets this weird sharpening effect....
christ I dont know what to do :/ z2 is nice but it has a lot of issues, one's camera isnt good enough these days, g3 3gb is probably most future proof but the more I read about it the more doubts I get...

True, guess it depends on what you use your phone for. I don't do any gaming so the app data space isn't that large.
If the difference in price is ok then it makes sense to get the 32GB I suppose. Here in Singapore, only the 32GB version is available and only S$755 sim-free which is relatively cheap for a new flagship phone.
I'm still deciding whether to get this or the G2 which is only S$520 now!
I'm planning to buy the 32gb version. What I like to know is if the custom roms will be different or will they all be suitable for this version?
G3 the 16 or 32 GB

Hi,
I have got both phones at the moment (Model D855) and I would strongly suggest you spend the the extra few bucks on tthe 32GB phone. Not as much for the ROM but for the RAM. Today I have installed the same apps on both phobes after rooting them and installing TWRP recovery and the difference is very obvious especially when having several apps open in the background. Although many phones could do perefctly with the amount of RAM the 16 GB model offers, I think there is a difference in this phonbes screen specs. This fabulous screen asks a lot of capacity which I think is the reason the 16 GB version gets very leggy. It's better if you reboot every now and then but I recon you'd get very anoyed at having to do that 3 times a day.
The price difference is big enough to go for the 16 GB version. You'll most prbably regret in a few months.
I have the 2 GB version no problem
Screen is good no heating problems

I have the 16g d855 my phone now runs at 300mb free ram i bought it for 380 euro and the 32gb was for 500+ so the difference was big. So if you have that money go for 32 a test on youtube on benchmarking both versions shows that 32gb is 5-7% faster and the results proofs that.

Hi all
Wondering if there is an actual noticeable difference in day to day usage between the two models? I know the bench test show marginal performance improvements for the 32GB over the 16GB model but would this be seen in every day use?
Reason I ask is that I may be swapping a 16GB model for a 32GB model but this comes with it's downsides so wondering if it's even worth it....
Forgot to say that I do know that the 32GB model also has the 3GB RAM
Thanks

i would say yes.
i have a 2gb one and my oncle a 3gb ram. my home screen always refresh when i exit a app.
and his apps open some how faster (cause they are in cache of the ram) so i would say yes. its better even in every day usage. opening apps. and switching
Hmmmm that's good to hear then. Well I have the 2gb model right now and have the 3gb one coming tomorrow... It's coming from Hong Kong though so slightly worried it will be fake!
It doesn't matter in everyday use at all...
Still, you can read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783716

Cheers, have seen that video before but still didn't help me . It won't cost me anything extra swapping to the 32GB model but it is a HK model so I'm a bit warey about it breaking or being fake etc.
It matters mate... Extra 1gb makes the difference aside from the additional storage...

This is interesting to know.. How exactly this 1gb makes the difference in everyday use?
Have you heard that anybody raised an issue with shortage of RAM while using G3 with KitKat or Lollipop in normal conditions?
3gb is snappier than than 2gb variant... Based on my own experience... As is without tweaks... ?
Don't no about 16gb but my 32gb 3gb ramz the dog
My 16 gb version is snappy as hell, it depends on the user too and how you tweak it.
I traded my 3gb Note 3 for the 2gb G3....I kinda regret it now because my Note 3 was nice and snappy but with the G3 I notice quite a lot of lag

Amount of RAM does not have anything with lag that you have on G3. 3GB version also have that lag sometimes.

I have a highly debloated 3gb version, with normal running i have about 500MB free ram but this can drop down to 400MB. If you only have a 2GB phone, it would be 500MB short of ram, even more on a stock rom, meaning apps get stopped to make room for new app to start up. Extra ram means more file data is stored in cache. My phone never lags
I am confused in 2 version of mobile.
1st 4gb ram 32gb and other 64gb.
32 gb just cost 19k INR and 64gb cost 24k INR.
32gb version is avilable in flipkart but 64gb i cant find(.
I have compared both in website like smartprix and found that 64gb version is tooo better than 32gb though less difference in price.
Comparsion
Example: Less rom ,no flash and few things in 32gb version.
So which is good ,you know where i can buy 64gb version in india.
Advance Many Thankx.

I would get the 32Gb version to save money and be more efficient. With 32g2g of internal storage you get plenty of room and you could always expand the memory to 128 Gb with micro sd card. Try going to flipkart.com, they will be selling it there for you!

Does anyone know the difference with performance on something with 6GB vs 8GB? Negligible you think?
I remember a side by side of the S8+ with 4GB vs 6GB.
I guess really for double the storage & an extra 2GB of RAM for $60 more, it's almost a no brainer.
However, i'm just trying to get an idea from those of you who know more about RAM in phones than I do to chime in.
I'm also guessing it's normal to bump the RAM every time you bump the storage. At least I am starting to see that in some newer phones, (don't see a 128GB 5T with 6GB) but not all. You don't see the Pixels like that (and still with 4GB).
Seems to be RAM is all over the place & I always thought cost was the factor, but if OP can do 6GB & 8GB it doesn't appear to be that.
well, in my opinion, 6GB of RAM is more than enough for the average user. but if you're really really looking for performance, pick the 8GB version, obviously.
why they even have a model with 6gb/64gb.
I've seen a few comparisons of both version of the OnePlus 5. The device with 8GB of RAM was able to keep many more apps in memory (obviously). This led to much fewer app redraws.
I chose the 8GB option, because I want this phone to last me 2 years, and I am thinking about what may be needed for Android P and Android Q updates/ROMs in the future
The 8GB is for "power" users who cycle through a lot of apps
128 GB is for people who have a lot of apps and record a lot of video/need to store a lot of data
This is what the head of OnePlus marketing said in an interview. I don't think the 8GB is meant for future-proofing the phone
As explained in the interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4_zhRWHwk4

I did see that interview. I know the intention is for power users, but it is my personal view that 8GBs will serve me better in the future, than 6GB.
I intend to use the phone for 2 years at least, and so if official updates stop after a year and a bit, I have the option to install a custom rom.
i'll go for the 64GB one, i currenlty have the OPO sandstone 64gb, and never handled to fill it. Also i dont really feel like 8gb ram are usefull atm...
8GB for me.
It's really 64gb vs 128 gb. 6 gb of ram is plenty. 8gb is for bragging rights only.

When the two were tested (side-by-side OnePlus 5), the 8GB model, naturally was able to keep many more apps in memory. Don't know if I would consider that bragging rights, but I would consider it better.
8GB is a gimmick, but hey, if you want it, the option is there lol.

Of course it's better. But is it that much better? I don't think so. I think the storage difference is more of a difference than the ram.

I ordered the 8GB 128. Figured the storage was worth the $60 & the 2GB extra RAM was a bonus. Don't know if there will be any noticeable differences, but I don't care that much.

Totally agree. For $60 you get double the storage and 2 gb of extra ram, why not. I just think those of us who go 6GB of ram will be just fine.

I rather brag about the pricing of the 5T =P
I went with the 8GB/128GB model because the 4GB/64GB of the S8+ Dual Sim was a deal breaker for me. I currently have 2 Samsung S6's with 64GB storage. I needed all that space to hold all the data imported from the 2 phones and have the dual sim functionality. If the S8+ DS had a 128GB variant, I would've considered purchasing that instead.
If like myself you have several play lists, root, rom, keep nandroids and titanium backups, and video its 128GB.
Hello!
I want to buy this phone. However, I confused about what's best for me.
I’m not too much into gaming. just usual gaming like flappy bird. Most of the time will be browsing, streaming, banking apps, trading.
Right now I'm using Redmi 3s and it's too slow & hot for me for this moment.
which better value? 64gb or 128gb?
Is this storage will be effected to performance?
Sorry for my English, since English is not my first language.
Thanks before.
Hey I would go for 128GB model. It is only 20USD more.
There should be no diference in performance.
Same. I took 128 GB, it is a better deal
Thanks guys for the recommendation. I'll buy note 8 pro 128gb series in couple hours (flash sale) i hope i get this phone.

Yeah i too got the 128 GB, it cost me only 10€ more. 10€ for another 64 GB, i see that as great deal.
Since price range is small between 64 and 128gb,i would go for 128 for sure
