So for almost a week it seems that my Wi-Fi connection to 2 different routers and one SIM hub (home, my home in a different city and my girflriend's place) is getting really slow (like 100KBps), while the laptop is connected to the same points and gets speeds of 5-10MBps.
Also, when I was connected to the public Wi-Fi at work the speed was normal.
Anyone experienced this issue until now? Or what might cause it? Thanks!
I got the unlocked S9 960F (Exynos) with the latest patch (G960FXXS2BRJ6).
Only thing I can think is that it is switching to mobile data automatically because it thinks the WiFi connection is unstable (Settings > Connections > WiFi > 3 dots top right menu > Advanced > Switch to mobile data) <<< I'm running Pie beta so might be different in Oreo
But seems like a long shot if it's happening on 3 different routers
Public WiFi is not using Encryption, check the routers are all using WPA2
No VPN or anything running on the phone? Such as a VPN adblocker? They screw up my speedtest results so possible it could have an affect on connection speeds, still would have expected it to also affect public wifi too though
Boot to recovery and wipe cache partition too

Well I have that option ticked since forever. Problem is, My data is 4G, so when I switch to just data, it's fast. So this is not the issue.

I set all of them up for quite some time (months, some years) and never had issues. They are WPA2. The other phones work fine on them (even my girlfriend's which is a recently bought S9).

I have the Secure Wi-Fi "VPN" which works only on public networks, so it doesn't affect private routers. No adblock, I use DuckDuckGo browser.

This or factory reset seems to be the only solution for now.

Hi,
I'm at work again now. It seems the Wi-Fi has issues with 2.4 GHz networks. The 5GHz work just fine.
I'll go to he service later today so they can change the module.

I've noticed of late that my One X thinks that my home WiFi is still in range, and that it's connected, even when I am not at home. To get mobile data to work I have to turn WiFi off and back on again to make it work properly.
Anyone experiencing the same?

Nah, there is an option for disconnecting the wifi if there is no good connection.
also there are wifi fixing tools in the market, switching between aps etc.
also there are tools for switching to 3G if WiFi is under some threshold.
Unfortunately you must search and test. Did my fair share of that.
Also check out that option in the settings if you have it checked.

Okay and? Are you completely stock. And you tried already factory reset, and this happens with every AP on the latest sw ?
Then you could try to return it for repairs?

Kindly poll whether you can use wifi properly or with any fixing methods such as copying folders from 4.1.1 roms, or Disabling Wifi Power Save Mode.
If you use any other method apart from the two mentioned above, kindly comment about the method.
Lastly, if you are able to use wifi Without Any Fix, do post your firmware and rom.
I am currently on DMC3, wifi worked properly for a day without doing anything and then it just broke. Network disabled due to poor connection. And then i had to use the copying wifi folder from 4.1.1 trick. And it works fine now.
Kindly download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.android.telnet&hl=en
Go to wifi tab and post the frequency you see.
I never experienced issues with Wi-Fi on my Note 2 on 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 stock.Whenever I reach home a message appears:Connected to .....
No issue.
Used all types of roms and kernels like wanam arhd omega phoenix pacman jelly bear pa and many other roms.
I have tried every single kernel. No problems on any of the combinations. Currently on wanam and redpill

I think the problem lies in the band of the wifi router. 5G seems to work fine while 2.4G(mine) need some tweaking to do.
Do you have a wifi router at home and what band is it?
I don't know the speed exactly but it says 54m adsl 2+ router.

Since the recent DMC3 upgrade, wifi connects fine every time. But the bug of decreasing speed over time, is still present.
This NEVER occurred with the 4.1.1 FW, so it's NOT router related. My router: Netgear CG3100 b/g/n 20Mhz bandwidth.
I was initially very happy, finding that the connection bug was gone in this FW, 'til I realised the speed problem wasn't.

Can you explain this "decreasing of speed over time" problem?
I mean that when I connect to the wifi network, the speed is 20-24Mbit/s down,
& 9-10Mbit up, as it's supposed to be. If I then leave the phone on the table for,
say 15-30 minutes, & after that pick it up and do a speed test, it has dropped
to between 2 & 3Mbit/s down, and around 3Mbit/s up. I disconnect from the
wifi network, reconnect immediately, and speeds are back to normal again.
Same every time. This bug, Sammy somehow failed to wipe out....
Wifi troubleshooting can be sort of a black arts. Regardless of where the fault lies, what you should do first is log into the router's control panel, and disable as many functions as possible, including setting it to b only, disabling qos, wmm and such, security to none, perhaps assign a static ip etc.
If it works, enable features one by one by process of elimination.

Since updating my N7100 to 4.4.2, it is not reliably switching between WiFi and mobile data when it should. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Until I updated it was always !00% reliable.
I found the new setting under the WiFi tab - 'Smart Network Switch', and this is checked.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions to cure it? The phone isn't rooted and I don't want to do that.

You got to disable Smart Network Switch cause whenever mobile data is stronger than wifi signal (even, let's say for a second) it will disconnect from wifi and vice versa.

It seems that the Smart Switch isn't working as it should because sometimes when I get home I can hold the phone right up to the WiFi router and it still doesn't switch to WiFi.

Normally no need for network switch, only on special occasions when needs continuous connection and wifi isn't that strong whereas mobile is.
If you untick (disable) you will see, that coming home into reach of wifi will automatically change from mobile to wifi. :good:

I have now my OnePlus 3 for 3 weeks and I have noticed that when I'm long in my WiFi network and than I go out of my Wifi (Disconnect). And than it don't Connect to Mobile Network for data. And yes mobile data are aktivatet, the settings shows that the Data Service is off. But this is only so when I'm long in WiFi if I'm only for 20 minutes than it Connect to Mobile Data.

No APN reset don't work. Get Disconnect from Mobile Data Service. But I see that the settings says when it is connected Network Type EDGE. But if it gets Disconnected then it says GSM
Edit: Attached ScreenShots
Go to developer options and turn on "cellular data always active". I use that on my phone and it picks up the cell signal almost instantly when out of WiFi range. I am still getting about 5 hrs SOT. ,
Okay i think this is gonna work, instand Switch to Mobile Data. And what to you mean with SOT @calbrs
Today i downloadet the system Update 3.2.2 and I think this bug is patched with this update . Actually no issues with the Mobile Data connection
EDIT: NO DONT work same issue

I have exactly the same issue with my OP3 OOS 3.2.2, no root. It is really annoying
Me too, it isn't handling the switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi very well, not sure whether it's just one way, when i get to work and connect to work Wi-Fi I've ended up having to turn off mobile data to get it to use the Wi-Fi connection.

It is two way. That's my observation. I am very disappointed from the phone which has such problems with basic thing like wi-fi connection. I think this will be my first and last OP phone!
So has anyone found a solution to this issue? What kind of flagship killer has problems with such basic functionality?
I've read on other forums that some devices have a feature called Smart Network Switch, but I can't find that anywhere.
And I really don't think it's the APN...I've modified it in all possible ways and it's still happening...not switching automatically but starts working after switching to airplane mode and back. And the "aggressive" switch option doesn't work either.
If anyone has any idea about how to fix this or how it can be further investigated, please share, it's becoming really annoying. Thanks!

I activated the Mobile Data on in the Developer Options and for me it works pretty well.
The IPv4/IPv6 solution seemed to work. I still have issues when connecting to the wireless network (company wifi, with login credentials and the whole deal) but I used to have the same issue with my Nexus 5, meaning that I have to be disconnected from the mobile data to access the wifi network's login page (forgot to mention this in my previous post). Anyway, I'm happy that I don't have to switch to airplane mode anymore Thanks everyone!
I had many phones and I had many troubles with DNS. Now it is the G4. It seems DNS just stops working sometimes. YouTube just cuts, webpages cannot resolve DNS address. I have to disable WiFi and then enable again to get webpages/internet to work again. When DNS stops working the phones works hard and gets hot and drains battery like hell. I had this problem with Samsung phones too.
It's not my router or internet connection because everything else works (my computers and servers) and I have changes routers many times.
Is this android? WiFi drivers? As i said, it cannot be my network. I use google DNS 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4. I have also tried static IP/DNS address.
This I had with others phones too. Never apple phones though... So it seems like an android problem? Of course I have tried resetting my phone and reinstalling.
Anyone with any useful tips or solutions here? Getting tired of this problem...

By dhcp. I also used static dns.
Why are you using static DNS? Are you by any chance using a DNS to bypass geolocation? Are any other devices connected to the WiFi having the same issues? This looks a little bit like an issue that is independent of the G4. When you are setting up a static DNS, it may conflict with the other settings. I am using the DNS from the Internet provider, I am not touching any settings for WiFi and I never had issues unless the Internet connection itself had issues (like last week with the DDoS attack from the IoT devices). Maybe it is an issue with your Internet provider.

I use dhcp, but have tried with static. The only thing that hasn't changed is my provider, but as I said, everything else is working except my g4. Same with my Samsung s5, note 3.
There is a "Network settings reset" in Settings -> Backup & reset. Try it. If you can update to a newer version, do it, it will clear Dalvik Cache. I think there is something wrong with one of the system apps. If your G4 is rooted, then just clear Dalvik Cache from TWRP. I would also delete the WiFi AP and reconnect. Did you check the router for the IP it gives the G4? Maybe there is a conflict with another device, if you're setting IPs using MAC address.

Tried all that. Reinstalled the phone several times by the way.
My router gives IP adresses to all my devies and thats a lot og devices. If there is a conflict you know right away and more the other devices who is conflicting will also not work. Every other device works except my G4 UNTIL i disable wifi and then enable it, like within 5 second. Just disable and enable wifi and everything is back to normal.

Never fixed the issues with those two phones... just had to live with it disabling wifi and enabling again... several times a day. Sometimes after a short while and sometimes after a longer time.
Then I would say that it is not a problem with the phone, maybe with Android. What exact model is the router?

Yeah it has to be a problem with android VS my internet router perhaps. It's weird because I've been through jellybean -> marshmallow.. My internet provider router is Norwegian one (inteno something).
My network:
internet -> internet provider router (inteno) -> ASUS RT-AC68U as access point -> phone.
IP adresses is recieved by the inteno router.
So maybe my phones don't like the internet provider router. Will have to test more when I get fiber internet with a brand new router.
