Hello Frnds,
Recently I rooted my phone as I wanted to remove my stock SMS app due to missing functions as described in my previous post and also to remove the stock contact app as there is no provision to add birthday. After rooting, I removed these two apps and some of unwanted apps provided by SE. I installed new phonebook app and Handcent SMS app and I was happy unless I needed to add a new contact to my phonebook. When I click on add new contact , it showed me an error message saying application not found to handle this. When I again reinstalled the removed Contacts app back and click on add new contact from my new phonebook app, it opened the add new contact page of the Contacts app i.e. without Birthday entry. I was so annoyed to see that I landed up on the same path from where I had started.. Can anyone tell me how can I chagne the default link so that I can use the Add Contact funtion of new app Phonebook and not of the Contacts app.
Most of such replacement apps, especially messaging ones, need to work along with the corresponding default one. As far as I know, only GO SMS can work individually, but again, it's not recommended to uninstall such vital system apps because they are deeply integrated in stock ROM.

Thanks for ur reply.. But as u must know that there is not provision to add birthdate in the stock contacts app and even if I add some other app from market which has provision to add birthday and click on add new contact, it again opens the same stock contacts app's add contact page...

That last part is the third-party app's issue.
See, there are three elements in a Contacts app: the dialer, the contact list and the contact viewer.
Some apps include only the first two, thus when you open a contact, stock app (and more specifically InfiniteView) appears.
As for birthdays, if you sync your contacts with Facebook inside Xperia, you'll get them.
Or you could add a note to each contact with their birthday.
Hi. I was just wondering if it's possible to create a Chat Heads like feature for the default HTC Messages app. Any input? For those unfamiliar with Facebook Chat Heads, it let's you use the Messenger aspect of Facebook from any app through a pop-up window.
You can use chat heads for sms and it will replace the use of the stock messaging app.

yep this works well
Go into Facebook Messenger App > select Settings > select Text Messaging (SMS/MMS), tick Turn On Text Messaging and Use as main texting app.
Job done!
i can't use S finder to search sms from Go sms, as searching sms from default app gets phone laggy coz there are lots of messages. Is there any app to add apps to search category , like in multi window app manager and s pen manager??
Facebook and Messenger app is using most of my battery, is there any alternative Facebook/Messenger app that has the same layout and notifications?

"Friendly for facebook" on playstore is exactly what you are searching.
Battery friendlier than official and messenger + fb in one app.
Layout nearly the same, notifications also work.
You can also set update interval to make it even more battery friendly.
Cheers

you can use the patched Facebook app where the messenger is integrated and doesn't need a separate messenger app. I myself am using that since some time.
Swipe for Facebook pro is also a great alternative as it has all the features with different ui and great theme colors
Verizon LG G4 unrooted. Pulling up dual window it has a limited set of apps. Gmail is there but no calendar. Is there a way to pull up both at once? I want to pull up client emails and enter appointments into the calendar with both apps showing.
There's a app called: App Cloner link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.applisto.appcloner
and it lets you to edit app... You can clone these apps within enabling some features especially the Multi-window support on display options..
