Has anyone else noticed how updates for both the Pixel & Pixel XL are not bring released until the end of the month?
November's factory & OTA images weren't available until the end of the month when all other devices we're at the beginning. Now December's aren't available too when all other devices are.
It's pretty much expected, if they have worked on November's update till the end of month.

Because we are old now.
I don't see any problems with it. It will be delivered. Yes, it was some problems with November patch so it was delivered late, so it may be the reason December will be a bit late this time. What is promising - Nexus 6 still receiving an update although the support ended last month. So maybe Google is committed to push more security patches than promised.
I'm more hoping for optimization and improvements, but I won't hold my breath. If that takes until the end of the month, then I will gladly wait -
Edit: Out now for my Pixel
December update is live and running. So only one day delay.
I actually got my December date a day early

I don't have it either, and it won't play music in the car. It connects and phone calls seem to work (I just dialed a number and hung up, not sure how call quality would be), but the car doesn't find a compatible media device. I read the security update might fix it??

8.1 DP will get you October patch. Sacrifice stability for security if you want. Kidding a little, I was wondering where the heck the security update was before I went to the 8.1. Possibly they're waiting to package all the software improvements together and since people keep complaining about more things, they keep adding more things.
Not here!
It's only been released with 8.1 beta
My first Pixel/Nexus back since I had the Galaxy Nexus, and one of the main decision points was rapid updates, including security ones. Here it is, Nov 3, and still on September. I could swear Google was on a regular monthly cadence of security updates for the Pixel 1 and Nexuses (Nexi?)
lets hope for nov 6 patch.. hopefully addressing most concerns
Nov 7 and I'm still only on September patch.

It takes time for the otas to roll out. You can't expect thousands of people in all areas of the world on different carriers, to receive the patch at the exact same second.
Hoping these come soon. Don't like being out of date by so far at this point. Not sure why I still am only on September.

This would be a good excuse but as of a couple months ago supposedly the update button was supposed to actually work. I know I hit the stupid thing 20 or 30 times since seeing the update dropped and still haven't gotten the update.
Really. Google Play Store can update an app all across the world in a few hours? OTAs don't happen since carriers control updates. This should not be. Google needs to reclaim their power before Android goes to the dark side of fragmentation. I have a bad feeling about this.
There are many reports about the display changes for the Pixel 2 XL in the released November security update, but neither the OTA or images are posted on Google's site yet.

I have not. Unlocked from Google, on Verizon
This is supposed to be an Android One phone. Last security update was near the end of February and is listed as the February 1 update. I love the phone but Nokia needs to do a better job of putting out timely updates. Has anyone who is on stock software received an update dated after February 1?

I don't know what there doing maybe there just going to wait until the April security patch because the last security update was late so maybe there going to start with April and keep up with it after that
I got the March update a couple of days ago. (eu)
Maybe there is something wrong with the rollout in your area?
Not sure how you got the March update. I went to Nokia's website and the last one posted is still February 2019. This is for the 6.1

Same here, got it late last week. It's not just a security update though, had some other changes as well.
Updating at the moment....
Updated here this morning.
Seems like app switching is MUCH smoother. Seems like it's not uncaching things so quickly. I like...
Just got updated to March 1 security patch in NA. It is a large OTA, a little over 500 MB, so more than just a security patch bump.
Mine is still killing background apps aggressively; not seeing any improvements to memory management or unbundling of the onerous task killer.
So far the only difference I've noticed is that instead of showing 4G in the status bar when connected to a 4G network, it now shows 4G with LTE to the right it oriented vertically. Thanks to T-Mobile and the other American telco's for calling HSPA+ "4G" 7 or 8 years ago instead of the 3.5G or so it was and continuing to confuse consumers with their marketing BS.
Hi all
I've last June patch on Android 10
It's still buggy I'm wondering if xiaomi will bring this device in to a stable version or not
Otherwise I'll downgrade to pie
Any rumors on further updates?
Thanks
Stefano
Yes, you'll get another year of Google Security updates as due to Google Policy. Didn't you read the little pamphlet that came with your phone? 2 year software updates aka. 2 major android versions and 3 years of security updates.
This months was an extremely slow month for almost everything, even Windows update was late (they also have monthly security updates). Mi A2 launched it's July update 1 day ago, so we're most likely going to get that next week, but don't worry, it's not going to be August Update, it's still going to be July update... and that's just a speculation based on what happened until now. Same thing happened in April, march passed with no security update and bugfixes, and the "fixed" (or should I call it at list not bricking phones) version launched in early April (3-4 if I'm not wrong).
So yeah, don't worry, you'll get updates until next summer, just remember, it took them a lot of months to make 9 stable too, and I'm not saying that as an excuse for their update delivery, I'm just saying that this happened (not as worse) back in A9 era too.

Sorry to somewhat disappoint but I don't want to raise your hopes too much. There will be things that will be missing from this software like AptX, or like exFAT support and so on. Remember, the SD card issues that Pie had were only resolved when A10 came out... It won't be a perfect device at the end of it's life cycle but at least we can hope it'll work fine... They actually fixed some problems in the updates they gave us until now, but it's far from being a well polished system. All we can do is keep out hopes up, and hope that they took their time to actually fix the errors reported in the forums (xiaomi forum, where a mod says he reports user bugs himself).
Many of us have some personal and confidential info stored on our phones. Timely security updates are critical.
That said, has anyone gotten a security update for this phone? I haven't gotten one since I purchased it on the day it was released. I'm still on the August 1st 2020 security patch. I thought Motorola issue security patches every 2 months. I reached out to them on this but the person that I communicated with had no idea on when a security patch would be available for this phone.
I love the form factor of this phone but I think outdated security patches pose a huge risk.
I'm on se the September security update

Did you get a security update or did it come with the September security patch when you bought the phone?
Motorola also told me that the August security patch was the most up-to-date. Go figure.
To be honest, I'm not sure if there was an update when I started using the phone, or if it came that way. The phone is less than two weeks old.
No problem. Thanks for the update. I got my phone on October 2nd with the August security patch on it. No updates from Motorola since.

Did you receive any update, yet? Mine came with the August patch, and an update was available as soon as I got the basic settings dialed in. I'm on the September patch now, which is still pretty dated in comparison to my OP8Pro. No further updates, or news, as of now.
Nothing yet. Still waiting. I check almost daily.
you should have the october security update. The Retail US channel got that late in mid november (me on the 17th). I purchased directly from motorola and use t-mobile sim.
motorola does quarterly security updates it seems and when you get the update it'll be a month old.
Nothing yet. I wonder if T-Mobile is the holdup. I bought the phone from T-Mobile on release date. Perhaps Motorola released the update to T-Mobile but T-Mobile has not sent the update to my phone yet?
Motorola also said this phone will get the Android 11 update. If it's dependent upon T-mobile and if T-Mobile is the reason for the security patch delays, I'm not hopeful.
when you go to 'about phone' in settings, under 'software channel' does it say 'retail us' or something else?
If so, You could try this method:
turn the phone off, remove the sim. Connect to wifi and check for the update then.
In 'about phone' in settings, under 'software channel' it says "T-Mobile".
yea...you have to yell at t-mobile then. they're in control of your updates.
edit:
you could try and use the motorola firmware flashing tool to flash https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/smith/official/TMO/
if yours is a lower version than that (you can verify in the about phone page under firmware version)
But firmware flashing that way vs ota usually means wiping the phone when it's being done.
Finally, I got an update today...
it looks like t-mobile just pushed that firmware out (if you go by the time stamp on the link i posted). So the phone is not delayed in seeing updates, t-mobile is just super slow at pushing them out.
though, they could have a different offset for their quarterly security updates than motorolla, as they're not much slower than motorolla (2 months vs 1.5 months). Considering you got November 1st's patch at the end of december and I got october 1st's patch in mid november.
I expect the next update we see for this device will be sometime in late february. Probably not going to see the OS update until mid next year.
Yep. I finally got it yesterday.
Wow. I went from zero updates in almost 3 months to two updates in just over 3 weeks. I was on the August security patch all the way until December 28th when I finally got the October security patch. Now, just a little over 3 weeks later, I got the December security patch today...
I feel a lot better about the phone now.
When the release date ?
Only Google knows for sure but it looks like the phone will be announced on the 19th October and released a couple of weeks later (end October).
This is based on leaks so we don't really know.
It supposed to beat iphone 13 series so why so late
That's quite a narrow view.
Google always announce their phones around October time (the Pixel 5 was a day earlier at the end of September). They are sticking to their own schedule which is much better than reacting to the competition.
In short, they aren't late, people are just impatient
Supposedly unveil Oct 19th and pre-orders open. Devices delivered Oct 30. Really hope it is sooner or this is going to be the longest 5.5 weeks ever.

Tell me about it! I have my Pixel 5 for sale on eBay and it will get sold by end of September so maybe have to go a month with an older phone. Trying to find one as my old old old HTC 10 is properly ruined.
Mid October hopefully...
One long month to wait
Really hope that we will have a surprise and it will be unveiled on the 27th Sep.
The new chip is promising
I say this every year but I really think Google's release cycle is odd.
Announced late October likely not in the shops until November, months after the iPhone and flagship droids for the year.

I think it makes sense. No other big android releases during that time, also, just before holiday season. You know, a lot of people buying phones for people lol. And a few weeks before black Friday (week now), so us fanboys who can't wait go buy ours at full price, then in November drop the price so people holiday shopping have more incentive to buy one.
The pixel 6 page on the Google store says "coming October 19th." Wouldn't it be cool if that meant they will be available on that date? They did that with the 4 if I remember correctly. Not holding my breath, just a little too excited.
