Cant Update my MIUI 10 for a strange reason - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Hey everyone,
For the past 2 weeks im not able to update my miui 10 8.11.15. I see the pop ups where it says a new update is available, i click on it, download it and as soon as I press reboot my screen turns off, goes to the updating miui installation progress but then my phone turns on again after 2 seconds. When my phone turns on again, it says failed to update miui. This is happening for the 8.11.23 update and 8.11.29, my phone is NOT rooted and the only thing i modified is camera2api.
I would like some help , thanks

have you installed any custom recovery?

If you have installed custom recovery like twrp, redwolf etc. to your device then you don't get the OTA Update.

Yakjuxw JB OTA not installing

Jelly Bean for yakjuxw is rolling out now, but mine will not install.
I have used the Google framework services "trick" to get and download the update 3 times now.
It downloads 160,3 mb, confirms and restarts for install. Then the Google logo shows for about 10 seconds and then just a restart again without installation. No error messages or anything.
4.0.4, yakuxw.
Any ideas?
Have you rooted the device, flashed a custom recovery, flashed a radio or changed any system files (fonts, mods, themes)?
All of these things (and many more) will cause the update to fail.
No, it is totally stock and not rooted.
Seems weird to me - can it somehow download a wrong update file?
It does not even show the red Android on the first reboot.
Also it seems, that the phone is unable to go into Recovery. Pressing both volume buttons and power and then selecting Recovery modes gets me to the same thing: The white google logo on black screen, and then a auto reboot to normal phone operation.
Can Recovery get broken in any way and thus also prevent the update?

I am expieriencing the exact same problem. Recovery seems to be corrupted and cannot enter it. This cause installation of update impossible. We need help here.
Is flashing to yakju will fix recovery mode?
Try manually flashing the stock recovery. You'll need an unlocked bootloader for that though.
I have fixed my problem by flashing yakju. I have used this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787503&highlight=yakju
Now i will get OTA updates from Google instead from Samsung because i had yakjuux firmware since my phone was orginally from Bell. Yay!
I sent mine in for repair.
Received it back with re-flashed software, and it's ok again.

ZE551ML fails to Boot

Hello, everyone!
The problem is that when booted, the phone only vibrates and turns off immediately. The screen never enables, LED for charging never enables. When connected to a charger, just vibrates. Tried to follow the steps here : installed the Soc driver, plugged the phone, tried to power it off - device manager recognized the phone for a couple of seconds and then it's gone.
Long story short: I tried to install official firmware upgrade using TWRP > Install > .zip. The installation was going on for a couple of minutes and then the screen blacked out. Since then, the phone does not boot.
So, I got bored of my Android 5 and decided to install a custom ROM, but I had to upgrade official firmware before that.
At first, I dove into how to install custom ROM tutorials, so I did the rooting first:
I downloaded a BootLoaderUnlocker program from the official Asus website and unlocked the BL. Then, I followed a tutorial for one-click-root, and succeded. Then I installed TWRP and flashed the Recovery to the latest available img for my phone and tried to install the Lineage OS 14.1 but got status 7 error, meaning something is incompatible.
This post states, that in order to install Lineage OS 14.1 I have to have a firmware at least MM 4.21.40.xx which is Android 6, so I went to the official Asus website and downloaded the Firmware upgrade. Since, I probably had the wrong BL at that point, I flashed the bootloader with TWRP for Z00A (Lollipop) 2.8.7.3 from here, which is the same website from which the post suggest to download a BL for MM (Android 6). I thought, since I currently have the Lolipop, should install the BL for that, just to be sure. Then I started the firmware upgrade, which rebooted the phone into the BL, I didn't think, and just pressed Normal Boot and the phone booted as usual in the old Android. Then I tried to initiate the instalation again but couldn't (it's supposed to auto-detect the file in the storage root), so I got an idea to just boot the Recovery, maybe it will continue. So, I did that, and the TWRP showed up (I forgot about it already and thought that the instalation would just continue), so I just pressed Install and chose the firmware upgrade zip manualy. The installation was going on for a couple of minutes and then the screen blacked out.
Since then, the phone does not boot. If I try to, it vibrates like it is going to boot, but then nothing happens (not even a logo).
I even tried to disconnect the battery: removed all the screws, removed the back panel and manually disconnected it. When I put it back the phone vibrated like it was going to boot, but nothing happened again.
P.S. I tried to boot into the Recovery, but that just does not work, and even did not work before the firmware upgrade (I googled, that I must press power and volume up and hold until the logo appears, but that doesn't happen).
upd: plugged into the charger, periodically shows the battery icon on the screen.
upd: I went to a service and the dude said I might have screwed up the `preLoader`, so some might say it's a disastah

So, I went to a service and turns out I messed up the PreLoader, that boots the BootLoader. Sometimes this cannot be restored and costs a bunch of money to replace the memory block, but I got lucky and got the phone repaired.
P.S. Do not install official firmware with programs like TWRP, use only your manufacturer's SoftWare

Galaxy A50 Stuck on Boot

here's what happened, the phone started freezing and restarting every 5 mins, I uninstalled some apps thinking that's what's causing it, I used it for around 10 minutes and it was fine, installed the latest security patch update, restarted and everything looked fine.
plugged it in, saw it had restarted again and it was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy A50 secured by Knox screen,
rn: I can't enter recovery mode, (the phone won't shut down and releasing the volume down and holding volume up thing doesn't work)
I can only enter download mode, Connected to Odin, flashed the latest firmware and it passed successfully, but still it gets stuck and won't boot.
any ideas?:crying:
anyone?

Volume up and power doesn't do anything
Volume down + power restarts the phone but it comes to the same samsung black screen
Are you sure you flashed correct firmware? Tried to factory reset in recovery? Full Wipe and then flash the firmware?
You can also try 'adb logcat' to see what the error is if adb is available..

I can't enter recovery mode
Volume down + power restarts but I did try to go to recovery by releasing volume down and pushing volume up the second screen goes black but it's not working
I can only enter download mode when it's connected to pc with odin running
Could it be a hard drive problem?
And I'm pretty sure i got the right firmware
Tbh not sure i got my A50 just recently, didn't even flash anything yet. Is you phone detected when you type "adb devices" in windows cmd?

tried it, it doesn't recognize the phone.
is there anyway to figure out if it's a hardware issue?
cuz I've heard it's a somewhat common problem in the A50 for the hard drive/storage to go corrupt.

I am having a very similar problem to yours, so I will follow this thread. I was using my phone two days ago and it simply turned itself off and since then I am stuck in the logo screen. When the phone is loading I have no indication whatsoever of the battery percentage at all. I still can access option and factory reset and wipe cache (unlike you, apparently - but it does nothing for me). This simply does not help. I end up back at the logo Samsung Galaxy A50 screen. I have downloaded two different firmware... android 9 and 10 from Samsung mobile, and have used Odin to flash it. The process goes through ok and without errors. I get the pass message and the message that the phone is being updated. Then it is time for the logo screen again and form then on the phone simply does not start. I am lost. Can anyone help?

hey there.
apart from the factory reset thing it seems like we have quite the same problem,
at this point I'm afraid it might be hardware thing

You know... I am not really sure. The only different thing I did was to accept to instal a new firmware one or two days prior. I am inclined to think that was it. Anyway... I tried to flash Android 10... Android 9 (both via Odin) and did not work. The support team instructed me to do the hard reset a couple of times ... and wipe cache and nothing. Today I sent my phone to Samsung assistance since it is still under the guarantee because that is what they thought I should do. I'll keep you posted. Hope you can get yours fixed soon.

yh I installed that update too and this happened later the same night.
unfortunately for me all the shops n services are currently shut down because of the Co-Vid situation so i have to wait for now.
thanks for sharing, lemme know what happens.
I've had these same problems before. When flashing with Odin, don't populate the last slot with anything (the HOME_CSC slot). Flash it to the device without auto reboot on, restart the device manually and hold vol up + down to get to blue scrern, then unlock bootloader. Let it restart, then reflash ROM.

Question Unable to update to latest Android 14 Beta (restarting phone after updating turns it into a brick for more than a few minutes)

Pretty much the title.
Coming from the Android 13 QPR Beta. Get the beta OTA, install it, click restart, phone shuts off, then doesn't turn back on. Isn't being recognized by "adb devices," can't get into recovery. If I leave it for a while (I think at least 30-45 minutes) I can press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and it'll turn on again as if I never updated, and gives me a "couldn't install update" error (not verbatim), and offers me the option to try again.
I just tried to sideload the update (from the android beta website: "raven_beta-ota-upb1.230309.017-e9676e8b.zip") zip via adb.
Currently waiting on it to be able to turn back on. Any suggestions?
Ok, so I got it to turn on, but it seems to have gotten stuck on the Google Splash screen... Managed to get it into recovery, bootloader, and the "rescue," but the problem now is that adb isn't seeing the device while in recovery or bootloader, only in "rescue" mode, which isn't allowing me to sideload the Android 13 QPR3 zip...
Now it's back on the "Google" splash screen.... I literally did not touch it while it was sitting on the bootloader...
Yeah, I can't get it to boot past the Google splash screen...

It says my phone is not supported.
I also tried https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/steps. It says "Your phone's current software version:T3B2.230316.005 is newer than this repair tool has."
