I have AFTV 2 , using stock firmware. I do have some sideloaded apps.
The application manager does not show all apps and in addition it opens the wrong apps? If I go to app and click launch, it launches something different?
Noticed by apps are 2 off
Anyone? I guess I could do a factory reset but trying to avoid that.

Hey everyone,
I just got a brand new Kindle Fire 2nd gen last night. I successfully rooted it and used KindleFree to put Nova launcher on it. I also used Titanium BU to restore several apps and uninstalled some bloat. The only issues I am having really is with the Amazon App Store. I have the app store on my Nexus 4 and have gathered several "Free apps of the day" over the last couple years. The Appstore does not seem to recognize any of the apps I have purchased. If I go to "Cloud" it does not show the same apps that I see on my Nexus 4. Also if I go to Amazons website and I look there I only see one app listed under my apps. I cleared data and logged into the app store again from my Nexus and oops I only see one app again. So then I unistalled the Amazon store from my Nexus and restored app+data using TB and it shows all my apps again. I tried using TB to restore my app+data for the Kindle and it will still only show one app ( which is ES file explorer I downloaded last night on the Kindle) Am I missig something? Why isn't the Kindle recognizing the apps I have downloaded under my account? Has anyone else experienced a similiar issue? This is terrible.
I also can not change any wallpapers using Nova Launcher. Any thoughts on this ? I really appreciate the help. If rooting this thing and putting CM on it didn't seem so risky I would just do that lol. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Would actually trying to reach out to Amazon Appstore customer service do any good? I kinda doubt it. I am sure it is something that just needs to be cleared or wiped or restored or something. I am just not sure what it is. The biggest concern is what I see at Amazon.com when I log in and don't see anything under my apps....

Amazon made an update that blocks users from changing wallpapers. Also, just follow the directions well from threads and you'll be find on installing CM.
About the apps, though... maybe you have more than one account? :silly: Sorry
Hi please see attached pic. How is this possible to display all your apps in this fashion? I have never seen this before nor is he saying how it's done. http://youtu.be/8SCsH86MYl8

I haven't played around with many launchers but that's what it is. Specifically, I think it may be this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2790392
There are no pics there either but just from reading a lot on this site and others that's what I think it is. In my opinion, these work best when kftv launcher is frozen (requires root and xposed) but some don't want to completely bypass it because you lose prime content. Its not the only launcher. there are lots of them but I do like this developer. He has shortcuts you can use from within kodi to launch youtube, netflix and get back to aftv homescreen.
If you are rooted and do freeze the main launcher I'd just use caution. The other day I read someone on a different site froze kftv with no backup launcher installed. Now he's stuck. I don't want to make it sound dangerous. I was actually using a different mod that launched right into xbmc without xposed modules but I was careful and had a fallback launcher so if anything went wrong I still had something to boot in to.
Or if you just want to safely play around and you aren't rooted you might try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2782307
I tried it when I first got AFTV and it's pretty cool but I notice it's had some nice updates since. It basically runs on top of KFTV launcher so I think hitting the home button takes you right back to the normal menu. It does help eliminate all the clicks it takes to get from start to the app you want--IMO one of the weaker points in the aftv ui
Thanks for the information. I'm going to look into it. I'm rooted with custom boot menu and clockworkmod recovery. If anything happens, I can easily boot into recovery and flash a rooted ROM again.
Klit75 its not firedtv launcher. I am not sure what it is, but definitely not that launcher.
The answer is simple, install the amazon app store apk, reboot, finished. Keep the apk, cause if you need to install amazon apps you will have to uninstall then reinstall when finished. It basically disables you from doing anything on the amazon store while you have the app store installed, but thats the way you get your apps to look like that.

I'm a little confused. The amazon app store is already installed by default on all Amazon Fire TV's. It's on the list of apps when you go to settings/manage installed apps/
Are you saying to download the amazon apk from elsewhere, sideload it and install it over the existing Amazon app store?

That is exactly what he is saying it works but you wont be able to install anymore amazon apps. You would have to uninstall amazon appstore and resynch to get the firetv version of appstore.... soo install everything you need from the amazon app store first.

lol Okay, will give it a try! Sounds simple enough. Amazon App Store sucks anyway and I already have the Play store installed.
I wonder if it will auto populate the list of apps when I install any new apps from Play Store? I'm also assuming sideloading apps doesn't get affected by this? I will try both when I get home and will report back my findings.
Thank you guys.
so i made a moron move and uninstalled the Gallery app with Titanium Backup. I hate using gallery and normally i just hide it in the app drawer, but since that isn't an option any more on this phone (wtf samsung?) I got rid of it. Well now i can't open pictures from the camera app. And i would like to be able to do that. Anybody know how i can reinstall this app and get it back to normal?
thanks
Try this see of it works 4 ya
https://www.dropbox.com/s/m1kudhlxys0u1if/Gallery_1.21.1503.141_1503141754.apk?dl=0
Thanks but unfortunately that didn't work. It says it wants to update a built in app and then stops and says the app is not installed.
Try this it should install with titanium backup
https://www.dropbox.com/s/t9xppnyca89el01/com.sec.android.gallery3d-20150426-131539.TiBkp?dl=0
i think we are getting close. i installed that using TB and it said it installed. Gallery is not listed in the app drawer. However when in the camera app, if i press the picture thumbnail to launch gallery it says that the app is disabled. Before it said that it wasn't installed and it dumped me out of the camera app. it would be nice if i could just get this from samsung app store.
Restart device and check in setting and applications make sure not disabled
Yeah its not listed under disabled apps. I'm not sure what I'm missing. Any ideas? Thanks for your help so far!
Clear data and clear cache in phone settings and restart see if that helps
That didn't help. What do you think about flashing the stock rooted rom?
Yes that will be a sure way to get it back
Same thing happened to me. Nothing would restore it. Not even manually changing the priv-app/SecGallery2015 permissions etc
Hi,
When I search for apps on Google Play, quite a lot of software are not available, compared to other tablet/phone (e.g. Samsung).
I can manually install the apk and it works fine.
Is there anyway to make those software show up on Google Play?
Thanks

Try the Market Helper app. It works well for me (it did, anyway), but YMMV. Make sure you've got root access enabled in developer settings and/or SuperSU installed, as the app requires root to do its job.

Thanks. Which device do you choose to fake? There are only 3 tablet options.

I usually choose to fake/emulate one of the phones in the Phone section (the HTC One X+ works for my purposes, but you may want to change that if the Play Store blocks apps you're interested in). Make sure that, if you're using a Marshmallow/CM13 ROM, you grant the Market Helper app access to contacts, phone, and storage via the app's listing in the system settings; without those permissions, it can't do what it's designed to do. Also, when the app sends the device info over to the Android Device Manager servers, you may get an error message saying it can't send the device config (this happened to me recently, but I was able to successfully spoof the device in the past). In that case, the app won't work until the developer updates it, and you'll have to use the old-fashioned manual apk download & install process (or use a third-party app store).
Thanks for the tip on permission. That error did pop up.
Once the spoof is activated, Google Device Manager did show the latest activity is from the fake device. However, Google Play Store still hide the apps. For example, Plants vs Zombies 2. Tried several devices, including those I have for real and have the app in Play Store but none of them can pull out the apps.
Is there any other steps?
Thanks

Clear the cache for the Play Store app, and also try force stopping the Google Services Framework app. After that, if you still can't get it to work, try giving the device a couple hours to let the Play Store adapt to the device spoof.

Tried all suggestion, except the clearing cache does not work on CM13. Still not getting the apps showing up.

which CM13 ROM/build are you running? You might want to clear app data for the Play Store if you can't clear the cache itself. Also, I'm pretty sure the device spoof is reset on reboot.

Clearing data appear to work. Thanks
I tried uninstalling certain system apps via Titanium Backup such as Play Movies & TV but to my horror, PlayStore reinstalled them immediately.
It's not a huge deal but I dislike seeing apps on my app drawer that I will never use. Alternatively, I could freeze it but I rather free up the space.
Has anyone had any luck in permanently uninstalling system apps?

You could try using your root explorer type app and delete the apk. Should be gone after a reboot.

I always use solid explorer to do that. Works every time
I have the same problem. Have you guys been able to use a file explorer to do it? Root Explorer just says that the delete fails and Solid just hangs during the delete process. Anyone figure this out?
