I am running beta miui 10 on RmN5pro with ota updates and recently i did a root via magisk and messed up stock camera app.
Is there a way I can get it back somehow without reinstalling firmware again? I was installing mi a2 camera app and some tweaked version and it somehow messed up my default app.
I am running also gcam but somehow it makes problems so I need stock camera app as backup.
Thanks.

Stock Android 4.1.2.
As I tried rooting my phone using the Samsung GS3 Toolkit, the closest option was choosing my device as if it was on 4.1.1. After successfully rooting it, my wifi and camera did not work. My main goal is to install the latest CyanogenMod but I honestly don't know where to go from here. Since then, I have tried resetting my phone to factory from what looked like a recovery app provided by the toolkit but that just wiped all my data and neither my wifi nor camera work.
Question?
1) Where to go from here?
2) Is a ROM a layer on top of an android version, or is a rom the android version?
If it was simply a layer, I would guess I would have to flash it with stock again because its broken. If not, could I still install CyanogenMod and that would fix it?
A ROM is the whole operating system, not a layer on top of anything. Did u make a backup of your stock ROM before flashing cm? What custom recovery do u have?
There presently is no readily available boot image to make an insecure boot for the 4.1.2 MG2 firmware, I had the same problem and reflashing a different rom is not the best way to start, in my case I had a stock rom yo download and flash right now you don't so my hope would be you made a backup with the tool before you flashed anything, however even after returning to stock my camera appeared not to be working in order to fix that I had to format my internal memory, after that I was fine and back to normal. A method at this time to gain root that seems to work well is chainfires auto root method and it is very self explanatory and easy to use. As soon as Samsung posts update for MG2 I am sure there will many choices available I know I for one will pull the update and root and debloat it with dsixda's kitchen, hope this helps

Quick question ... from a semi-noob
I'm running a T-Mo M919, rooted. Running stock ROM, however, I needed to flash a pre-release kernel in-order-to root when the phone was originally released. Phone runs pretty well. I've made some minor tweaks and mods, nothing major. I run TitBak regularly, so I have backups of all apps.
When I try to run Software Update to download the latest software, it fails. I know the reason. I'm running a "custom" configuration due to the pre-release kernel flash. Triangle Away can't get my binary counter below a 3, so software OTA update won't work. Just app updates OTA.
How can I get around this? Should I re-flash a rooted stock ROM? I notice that it's available ... I like to stick to a stock ROM and play with other ROMS randomly. But I'd like to be running latest & greatest available.
Someone? Anyone? Thoughts? Suggestions? I'd rather not un-root, flash to stock, update, re-root and restore apps. There are steps that should be capable of skipping.
You need to be totally stock, rom, recovery and unroot. There's no update from T-mobile right now that I'm aware of anyway.

aha, ok! thanks for the reply. i thought i saw somewhere that there was an update ... 4.2.3 or something of the sort. maybe that's an OS update?
at any rate, thanks again for the reply
If there is an update, you'll usually see it on here first, so really no need to go through all that hassle.

My S3 is on 4.3 FW. However I would prefer to run Darthstalker 4.12 as some apps do not work in 4.3.
Unfortunately my camera does not work with that rom. I suspect thats because the camera has updated FW and the libs/drivers in 4.1.2 cannot connect to the camera.
Before I go through the trouble, I have a flashable camera zip and I am thinking of taking the camera files out of a 4.3 rom sticking them into the zip to flash them. My other idea is to simply replace the files in /system.
Will this work? Or is there a better way.
Any advice would be appreciated.
What is your Current Rom version and how did you apply 4.3 ? Was it via the Stock OTA Update or another way ?

It was a insurance replacement phone, so it came preloaded with 4.3. However I would like to use 4.1.2 Darthstalker x2 because of the theme and some app compatibility. At this very moment I am using S3rx 4.3.
In that case, there's no way to downgrade without hard bricking your phone.
Hi, i succesfully rooted my LG G3. The main reason for doing this is because i was back able to write to SD card with many apps. Now that is ok. But i wonderd what else i can do since i am rooted now. I am actually happy with stock ROM but i would like to get rid of all that bloatware. What do you guys recommend. Delete all apps i don't need or flash new ROM without bloatware. I read that with many ROM's we lose the quality of the camera. Let me say that i use the camera on my LG G3 ALOT! So i don't wanna lose quality on the camera. Should i stay then with stock ROM?
thanks
camera quality problems exist in non stock based roms (cm12 based) don't worry about it in stock based roms.
After rooting my stock rom I usually install Titanium Backup and remove the programs I don't use. Then I install Startup Manager and take control on what starts up with android.
Do you guys install TWRP custom recovery?

Installing a custom recovery like TWRP is good for a rooted device . It is necessary for installing a custom rom. The easiest way to insatll TWRP is by using autorec app from playstore. You just have to download the app for your device and open it.
Titanium backup or ROM toolbox are good apps for a rooted phone and both of them will allow you to remove bloatware.
Ok thanks will look at it
I want to install a stock lollipop rom that has nothing changed because I may have deleted some system apks that are needed for the Default App manager to work. I want to get everything back to normal as possible and then reinstall a custom rom. I am rooted and have twrp installed. I do not want to lose rooted or twrp if possible.
