Screen quality?

Anyone get a chance to compare with the Mate 20 pro with the Mate 20 X? Are you losing very much quality by going with the X?
Brightness?
Contrast?
Who supplied the X panels?
Mate 20 Pro is a Chinese supplier - BOE. Mate 20 X appears to be Samsung.
Thanks.
Any idea of the brightness?
I wish the screen had a higher resolution and ppi, but hearing it was made by samsung is kind of nice.

No, but not sure why you really want / need to know. Max brightness hasn't been an issue on Samsung AMOLEDs for 3 years.
The Mate 20 Pro's BOE screen is said to be excellent, too.
What with LG finally sorting out their POLED phone size screens, and Sharp / JD about to enter the market, it looks like OLEDs are set to completely replace LCDs in all but super budget phones and tablets, finally.
The Nexus 6P had a Samsung AMOLED and it was so dim you couldn't see it in the outdoors. I learned from that to check the brightness before buying.

That's a 3 year old phone with a 4 year old mid-range AMOLED and you're massively exaggerating (I have one).
Fair enough.
Always on display?
Probably not.
However I pre-ordered mine a few days ago, and will certainly check back here to let you know when I find out.
All newer OLED Huaweis have AOD. Though it tends to be somewhat selective as to what it actually displays ... unless they've fixed it in 9.0.
That would be soooooo cool if it does. Can't wait to confirm when I receive mine.
I saw that Huawei is claiming that the regular Mate 20 will reach over 800+ nits of brightness. I'm hoping for something similar on the X. Because its more money, you'd think it would be higher quality?
My Mate 9 is probably around 600+ nits, so this would be a big jump from that.

Highly unlikely either Pro or X will get that high. It's OLED. Not sure why you want it that bright anyway ... sunlight legibility is more about contrast and screen coating, which tend to be far better on OLED than LCD.
I think it will be excellent like honor note 10 screen

I hope sound too
I like bright screens. What can I say?
I have both. Both screens as good as each other. I can't see a 2k small screen difference. Brightness as good as reach other also. Actually prefer the 20 X screen

Refresh rate seems worse than 60hz?

I upgraded from Oneplus 3T and the first thing I noticed was how choppy the refresh rate was when scrolling. Then I tried a Xiaomi Mi Max 3 which looks much smoother (on par with the 3T) yet when I tried the ufotest they both come up as 60hz. Is it actually 60hz or is there something I'm missing?

Both the Mi Max 3 and Mate 20 have the IPS LCD screens, both 60hz, but there's a huge difference anyway, I don't get it.
I'm thinking of upgrading to the Mate 20 X just because of this but I don't know if that has the same issue.

Refresh rate vs Mate 20 and Pro?

I upgraded from Oneplus 3T to a Mate 20 and the first thing I noticed was how choppy the refresh rate was when scrolling. Then I tried a Xiaomi Mi Max 3 which looks much smoother (on par with the 3T) yet when I tried the ufotest they both come up as 60hz. Both the Mi Max 3 and Mate 20 have IPS screens and 60hz refresh rates, yet they feel completely different. The Mate 20 X has an AMOLED, but if 2 IPS screens can be so wildly different I don't know if that's the cause.

I Got the Samsung A70.. Should I Keep It or Buy the Mate 20X?

Hi guys,
I own the samsung a70. Its got a big screen. But I'm thinking about selling it to buy the mate 20x. The a70 has a 6.7 inch screen. The 20x has a 7.3 inch although its aspect ratio is wider than the a70. has anyone had the a70 to compare with the mate 20-x? Do you think half an inch of screen real estate it worth getting it?

Mate 20x is have slightly better experience. Almost x2 gpu and cpu power. Mate 20x has better and wider oled screen. Switching between applications slightly smoother than a70. Mate 20x is even better than s10+. A70 is no match for mate 20x. Thats your answer i guess. There is no Phone can Come near to mate 20x. Maybe note 10+, we Will see.
Mate 20 x is better, A70 has no chance!
Cardboard model
You didn't say what are the important features for you?
Screensize okay, we got it
But do you love Samsung Oneui? Would you like Huawei software?
Mate 20 x is quite large, you should build yourself a cardboard model, it's quite easy : you can stack some sheets to get the proper thickness but don't forget about the 220+ grams weight that's 40 gram difference.
Anyway I love my mate 20 x and all its features

Is the Screen Resolution of the Mate 20x Amazing?

I'm thinking of buying this phone. But I need to know hows the screen resolution. Is it amazing? Is it as great as the resolution on the samaung a70?
Both resolutions are FHD+
a70 has a 6.7 inch screen with 398 PPI
Mate 20 X has a 7.2 inch screen with 346 PPI
Technically a70 is a little sharper but hardly noticeable to the naked eye
Also, Mate 20 X's screen (18.7:9) is thicker compared to a70 (20:9)
All in all, from just a screen perspective it's better to get the Mate 20 X because you're getting a bigger screen with just a small reduction in pixel density. The quality is still amazing.
A70 is much cheaper. Maybe get a80 as a good comparison.
