h8p dead - Honor 8 Pro Questions & Answers

used the rom flasher and bricked my phone. does anybody have an idea. phone seems to be completely dead. charging does not help, no button combination helps. any suggestions?

Same issue here. I had my phone dead for the last 3 weeks now. Tried everything but no luck. Now it's lying with local repair shop. The guy there suggested that it can be brought to life by flashing rom through box (some magic box or something like). But as he doesn't do it himself, he has asked me to wait till he finds someone who does. Will post if anything positive happens.

for these cases i heard about a kind of x-box. was just searching for. found the z3xbox. is anybody out there experienced atb that tool?

found out that my h8p is not completely dead. my computer (win 7) recognises the device but is not able to comunicate. windows is writing something like "huawei usb ser driver" missing. anybody a sugestion or able to provide the correct driver ? thx. greetings

HTC Desire HD cannot turn on

My 6 months old HTC Desire HD suddently died yesterday. I tried every way to turn it on, it just does not work:
1. Recharge the battery for the whole night and it is not turned on. The recharging light is not on when it is recharged.
2. Try with a backup battery. I still does not turn on
3. Try to hard reset, still does not turn on.
The worst thing is that my phone was bought in South Korea, and I am currently in the US. Called HTC US customer service center, they just does want to help. The funny thing is one of its staffs spent 20 minutes trying to find a phone number for me but could not find it.
Does anybody know what the problem could be? Is it a hardware failure?
BTW, I will not buy ANY HTC product for its bad warranty and customer service.

So you can't boot to bootloader? Hold vol down and power it.
Even though you bought it from S Korea, you should be able to get it to warranty repair with your phones IMEI code only. You could also try contacting the store you bought the phone from if possible.
No, even I tried the hard reset at you mentioned, it didn't work.
Also, I have called HTC US customer service for few times. As I said Htc's customer service is so terrible. They just don't care about you at all. They let you to get it repaired where you buy it. But the problem is that I will stay in the US for few months so I don't have a chance to use the phone any more.
Maybe I will switch to iPhone on 10/4...
Thanks for your reply and the information.

You should e-mail the HTC customer support one more time. It's often better to email them so they can look into the problem better, without the need to talk on phone at the same time.
The mail could also be forwarded to a technical department. Instead of the mostly useless people on so called "front line" of the phone customer service.
I don't mean to insult anyone personally. Big companies just do hire almost anyone to "first wave" and all the people who are really experts on phones are on so-called "second wave" where to the problems are sometimes forwarded.
Thanks for your tips. I am going to send the e-mail right now.

No useful information from your first post ? What happens when you turn on the phone ? White screen ? Can you go to bootloader mode ?
In my opinion two things are possible - the ROM memory is very badly damaged (hardware issue) and have to pay to repair it . The second - the ROM/Build is broken and have to preinstall it. Unfortunatelly I don't know is it possible only by cable. If the case was for the good old HD2 it's easy, but no easy way for DesireHD.
So, go to a service, pay to someone to flash the phone (in a special box). In Bulgaria that will cost you 20 euro (about 30$), but it USA - no idea.
P.S. I mean unofficial customer service. In official HTC service will take you much money and you may have a problems. Don't worry - in the official service can't realize, that the phone is flashed in unofficial way.
No, when the phone is turned on, there is just nothing shown on the screen. It is like a brick. That is really wired.

I have sent an e-mail to HTC support. Let's see what they will tell me.
If the answer is to bring the phone to Korea for servicing, send it via mail to a friend of you. It will cost you much lower, than paing in USA.

If HTC replaced your touch screen send it back to them,if you replaced the touch screen then you have to open again and make sure that everything is well connected or may be your new screen is bad

You say the led doesn't come on when charging?
Have you tried another charger?

Try connecting the phone to the computer via USB. If it enumerates under QHUSB_DLOAD then you either need JTAG or motherboard replacement.

But I also just found a video on youtube which might help me, but I am not sure... : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LUmUaxwue4

Oh, the solution I found on Youtube is just to hard to make.... I thougt it would be easier, but it seems I can't do anything to repair it....

Now I know what happend to our Phone!!!
The HBOOT on our phone is damaged or it had an incorrect installation of it, so that the phone is bricked.
The solution for this problem is, that you can send your phone to mobiletechvideos (just google it) and they have the necessary components and software, which can repair your phone. But it will cost you some dollars, but at least it isn't so expensive so that you can live with it, so I think.

Ok, chill. didn't you read this?: DO NOT USE THIS IF YOUR PHONE CAME WITH GINGERBREAD
So you messed the bootloader. There is no jtag for HTC devices. Hboot fix is not easy nor fast. Pull the battery and put it back. Keep pressing power + volumen down until you get to the white splash screen. That might take a while, but you will eventually get to hboot. If you manage to get to hboot just let me know and i will lend you a hand.

Does your phone do anything? or is plain dead?
It just do only some little actions like:
-When I put the cable into the phone, the led is orange
-When I try to do a hard reset it just vibrates 5 times and the led is green
That is all my phone is doing

[HOWTO] Hard Bricking E975

Yesterday I manage to hard-brick my Optimus G (intl) E975. :crying:
The process was quite simple, root, unlock bootloader, flash CyanogenMod, flash custom kernel F93, install FauxClock (paid version on Google Play). In this app (FauxClock), in the screen gamma settings you have an option to download a kernel enhancer. I downloaded the kernel enhancer provided in the app and its name was something like "all_kernels_enhancements_mako.zip". After download, I booted in recovery and flashed that "all kernels enhancement" .... and hard bricked it was!
The phone now won't start and all it does is to blink an Red Led (of death). I can't go intro recovery with any button combination. Only the red led. I hopped that it lacks battery juice and I put it overnight for charging but no change.
It looks like the zip was meant for the Mako (Nexus 4) kernels, not for L975
I searched on the web how to re-write phone's boot images and I found that there is a JTAG method for that using a device called RIFF. It implies that you open your phone and connect some plugs and re-write the nand flash. I searched some more and I found a guy in my town that does this kind of things. I met that guy and, for now, it seems that the re-write process is available only for the e970, e971, e973 variants of the phone, but he will try it on e975 anyways.
Right now I'm waiting some news for this guy. Keep my fingers crossed.
Update 1:
That guy with the JTAG has a hard time making my phone to boot.
Meanwhile I contacted LG service and they told me that they can try to fix it but there is a chance that the mainboard has to be replaced(?) as the phone is not recognized by the computer. They also told me that hard-bricking can appear even when flashing official firmwares.
As I am in a big hurry with this repairing stuff I don't know what to do.
Update 2:
In the end, after 8 hours of hard working, that guy made the best finding the right file to flash with some international help, made the right JTAG shouldering and finally, IT'S ALIVE!
My dear phone is now up and running. I just rooted it, unlocked it and flashed CM 10.1 again with the F93 kernel. Fortunately I made a backup 5 days ago so I lost almost nothing.
It was a good lesson and a first in Romania

I don't have much experience but i have understood that JTAG is compatible with all the android smartphones, even there's a video in youtube explaining the process. I hope that works for you mate, I have my E977 hard bricked too but I'll take to SAT in a few hours. Good luck :highfive:

Thanks Unreal_Shogo,
I saw that movie yesterday and this is how I found out that there is a solution for my problem.
A few notes on hard bricked LG E975 in general:
- after a phone is bricked, don't try anymore to charge it, because it will only consume the rest of the battery. The phone after that many hours of charging it had only 3 volts instead of 3.7 minimum. Android phones control the charging process by software, not hardware. And if you push the power or you will connect the phone to the charger it will consume completely the battery and you can't stop it if you can't disassembly the phone and disconnect the battery
- this model, compared with e970, e971, e973, it is different and harder to solder the wires, because the JTAG connections are on the other said of the board, not like the one from the video.
- the boot it is not compatible with the other models and it is very hard to find the correct files. But with some stubbornness there is nothing you can't do
Not all the androids can be repaired with JTAG because the manufacturer sometimes disable it. So never be so confident, that you can repaire the phone with a few bucks and no need to replace the mainboard. For example Motorola had only 2 or 3 models witch can be repaired.
And finally I am glad that you already customized your phone like before you bricked the phone and you came to me.

Hello all,
I bicked my E975 using FreeGee app. I tried to unlock it and it gave me a error message. Than I tried to restore backup and I get error message, again. The next thing I did, reboot the phone. After reboot, phone did not power on.
I have all backup files (.img files includes m9kefs, aboot, boot, recovery, sbl... etc) and I need to find a way to restore it.
When I connect phone to PC, it detect it as QDLoader device.
When I plug-in USB, charging led powers up for 3 seconds and goes off. At the same time I can hear windows sound (plug-in and plug-out USB sound). I have downloaded KDZ image and KDZ updater but it did not detect my phone.
I gave phone to friend of mine, he have riff box. He tried to resurect it but riff did not detect (as he said) the phone. sound like a impossible. What do you think?
Can someone help me with this, please.
Sorry for my bad english :/
Zidan made it clear, not everybody knows how to fix it. yeah, your phone is hard bricked.
You have 2 choices : send it to zidanro or to warranty.but i'm sure the warranty is void.

Quoting my private message to marko_s for everyone's benefit:
Take it to a cell/mobile service shop and JTAG the phone. It means that your phone will be open, some wires soldered on the chipset and the propper files re-flashed on the phone using a special software.
JTAG soldering
Hello,
thank You for respond. I send it to ONE service guy, friend of mine, and he connected it to riff box. Riff did not detect the phone.
I'm only asking if there is another schematics/a tip to connect it to riff in proper way to get it work.
Also, what is possibility that there is something wrong with riff and or way that connects to phone and can not detect it?
I think can phone be bricked so hard that riff can not help in this situation. ?
It is not burned in fire. PC detect it. So I think that there is something wrong with procedure he used to connect it and "flash" NAND chip.
Let me know if you have any suggestions. Phone is out of warranty, it's opened and soldered.
Thank you guys!
Hi, youre a lucky boy
Haha, you can install a mako rom, without brick, it will boot!
belive me!
(issues are no radio (2g, 3g etc..) , invent volume button, camera (not testet
i think combination e975 kernel and mako patch was bad idea
Nice joke
Hehehe, nice joke.
I must fix it or throw it in the trash. I do not have to buy Monalisa, I can hang it on the wall instead.
Can you tell me where JTAG pins are located? Under the board or on the top? I'm not asking for schematic.
I removed the cover and battery connector. I can not see any soldering pins and solder traces. I did not remove the board.
Help is really needed and appreciated
Thanks!
Wow.so you really wanna make a decorative object).look on youtube, there is a guy jtaging an e970. As zidan said,on e975 the jtag pins are located on the oposite side.

I sent my to one service technician and he repaired my phone using RIFF. He had to remove JTAG connector. It is well done. I can not notice that it was there at all . I pay 25 EU for repair. It's not big money for that kind of repair.
What I will do, when I find a time to do so,. I will backup my phone using QPST and post files here on forum.
I have to put my phone in some kind of recovery mode and so on. I have no time for that, at the moment. I think it should work/help to repair your device(s).

Today i also managed to hard brick my phone. There was not a single notification that my phone is alive. I too found that QHSUSB at device manager.
But try one thing - 1) Plug it to wall charger for near about 15 mins. 2) Then Press Both vol buttons And then the power button too
( I tried Vol+ then Vol- and lastly power button ) Hold them all.
3) and when it shows charging screen keep pressing vol up button 1 time / sec.

I'm electronic engineer, but he is more than that . Last option would be to send your phone to him to repair it. :/
Contact me over pm for details. I could manage that for you.

Saw posts something like that in other forums. Some never saw their phones back. Hope this is not the case here and there is no attention to do so
I bricked my phone too, and jtag helped

[Q] Hard bricked, but...

Hi there, I hard bricked my Tab S 8.4. No reaction to anything I did (key combinations, let it charge for hours, stuff like that). Don't know how it happened but it just crashed to death shortly after installing an inofficial Lolloipop build from here. I don't think a ROM can make a device not turn on at all. My money is on hardware failure.
Anyway, brought it in for repairs (willing to pay since I knowingly voided the warranty). Got the call yesterday. They said the software had been tampered with and they can't repair it. I objected that the software won't break the hardware but no dice. They won't even do it for cold hard cash.
BUT: To see the 'illegal' software they HAD to get the thing to turn on . And if they got it to turn on somehow, so can I. Or... am I completely wrong there and they have some magic fairy dust?
Any ideas on how I could accomplish what the repair guys could obviously do? There is no important data or anything on it so I'd be happy with Odin mode, CWM or whatever.

I kindof had the same problem, but got mine repaired.
May I ask where you send it to for repairs? Was it Samsung or a local repair shop that told you they could not fix it?
And did they send it back to you? Kindof weird they won't fix your device after you say you are willing to pay for it.
Depending on where you live, Samsung covers a lot of 'problems' in the first year of the standaard warranty.
As for turning on the device..
What options have you tried yet?
If you connect the tablet with usb to your pc and turn it on, does it get recognized?
And if so, as what?
But if your screen doesn't turn on, you're probably going to need repairs anyway.

Over here you bring it back to the shop where you bought it. They will try the simplest solutions in house but usually send it back to the manufacturer. I think the information came from Samsung directly. Another theory I have is a simple lie. They tried it in house, nothing came up, some clever guy screamed 'CYANOGEN!' and they all high fived (I have a vivid imagination )
As for turning it on: tried everything. It's not only the screen, it did nothing at all. No signs of life whatsoever. Of course the PC wouldn't recognize it since it was turned off.
I'll pick it up tonight. Maybe whatever they did to see the software tampering stuck and it will at least go into Odin mode. I can work from there.

But it you think it came from Samsung directly, then I would advise you to contact Samsung.
Here is a link from an article where it states that Samsung covers bricked devices, but only the first time. (Dutch article, GTranslated english)
I have no idea if this also counts for where you live though.

Magic dust it was. Got it back, dead. Came home a minute ago, put it on the charger. Lo and behold, the battery appears. Device turns on too, boots Lollipop goodness. 0 per cent battery but hey. Whatever they did, they obviously did NOT realize they solved the whole problem with just their diagnostic
Thread can be locked if the PTB deem it necessary.

It simply reset itself after the battery completely died. Black screen and no response doesn't mean the device is off.
As soon as they switched it on they would have seen knox had been tripped.
Sort of did you a favour by telling you it wasn't bricked.
I had the same sort of problem i connected my tab to my laptop and used the recovery mode key combination then my tab came back to life

Sorry download mode not recovery mode
Comforts me while ROM developing that the only reported case of a hardbrick was here - and the battery just died.

Please help!!! My G4 H815 hard bricked without any custom software or rooting

The decive is only recognized as qhsusb_bulk. And I never messed around with any custom roms or rooting. The power went off suddenly and couldn't turn it back on. Please help!!!!
If you were not doing any sort of modification, it sounds like a hardware failure. Get a warranty replacement if you can.

Not clear what you mean here ?
- the battery ran out
- something was updating when the battery ran out

Nope the battery didn't run out. It was about 80% left. And above of all, I was in the meeting at that morning and i put down the phone in silent. After that, i couldn't be able to double tap anymore then I tried power button at the back. I even try plugging the charger in and pressed the power button. Tried to factory reset it. And tried using different adapter and cable. The led light didn't even turn on. But when i plugged in to my laptop, i hear the noti sound and it shows qshusb_bulk in the device manager. I think it's on qualcomm mode. I saw some posts about unbricking g3 which is on qualcomm mode but no luck for G4.

It must be hardware failure but I don't have warranty. See the thing is I'm in Myanmar. The authorized distributor only sells dual sims model. But i never planned to use dual sims ones. So i tried to get the single sim version from singapore and the warranty from that country doesn't really seem to be able help.

That error means the bootloader is corrupted. No way to fix it currently without the right software and LG proprietary firmware. Not available anywhere I looked for the G4 (for the lay person at least). Since you weren't tinkering with it, could also mean the memory is bad.
Call LG.
Ask on lgviet.com there are guys that can repair a dead boot. One even wrote here I dunno if it was Manhit or else. They are in Vietnam, not too distant for you maybe
Edit it's @vn_mobile
I had one do the same thing. Warrantied it.

Contact the seller and ask if they can help. it would mean you send it to them, they sent it over to the service center and when its fixed return it back to you. you will be spending for postage. there is a warranty but its in singapore.
unless you can figure out a way to repair it locally.

that's the other thing, how often have you found memory to go bad.
am sceptical about hardware failure.

Agree, quite rare, but it does happen. On my original Galaxy Nexus, the CPU just crapped out and died one day. That was the repair facility's assessment.
Flash memory specifically, not so much.

OP3 Hardbrick - peculiar issue

Hello everyone,
Yes, another hardbricked OP3.
I came from the latest OxyOS (3.2.4?), rooted, xposed running, no issues (modules: mock mock locations, adblock, youtube in background (amongst others)).
Wanted to play a game on the bathroom, tapped an app... Boom. Nothing. Phone instantly shut off, hardbrick. No life, powercycled (no joy).
Went to the mega-unbrick guide, and using the MSMdownload tool, and the second method I flashed back to stock (I guess?). It went through (green text and all), verification all green, but when disconnecting the phone, it still wouldn't boot.
Retried a few more times, and was able to start the phone exactly once. Once trying to reboot? Boom - back to no life again....
Does anyone have any experience with this? Any ideas on what to do?
Phone is recognized by my PC (Quallcom 9008 driver). Other than that, no reaction from the phone.
Please halp!
Kind regards,
Laurens
Can the phone turn on when connected to a charger / PC.
I had a similar experience with my old Sony XPERIA Z (It would Turn On when connected via USB, but died immidiately if I unplugged it), had to send it for servicing. They said that the power controller died.
I am also curious if that happens if it booted up successfully it should keep going from what I know but I'm not a dev so I couldn't tell you

I have no clue, hence why I'm asking...
Unfortunately, similar.
Mine suddenly started rebooting. The MSMdownload tool was success but didn't help. Then OnePlus support tried the same tool, still no success. I RMA'd it and the report says it has a faulty motherboard and has been replaced. It should be delivered back to me tomorrow.
RMA it!! don't bother waiting a week for support to try the same tool.

Thanks for your feedback! I'm currently in the US and would RMA it once I get back to Europe (I'm going to study in London for 3 months, so that's the earliest).
I have a level 2 tech doing a remote session in 2 days though, so I'm probably going to have to wait for that.
Can I just start a return whenever? My case sounds very damn familiar to yours sadly. Would hate to lose my phone when I get to London.
Let me know, and thanks for your insight,
Laurens

I am happy to say that my phone has turned up today and is working perfectly
Yes you can start the RMA at anytime. Goto the original order summary for the phone and there is a service request button, select repair within that. My has taken just over a week from leaving me to getting it back.
Good luck :good:
