Hi.
I deleted the dalvik, data, system, cache and flashed the following:
ROM: Havoc-OS-v2.0-20181119-whyred-Official
GAPPS: open_gapps-arm64-9.0-nano-20181127
Magisk (flashed): Magisk-v17.1
I am using an expansion SD card (Samsung EVO UHS-I 128GB).
I want to force any camera app (MIUI and GCam_Pixel3Mod_1.3_build.6.1.021) to store the photos and videos directly to my SD card.
The said camera apps I am using do not have an option to change where they save the files...
Is there any way to force this by changing the system DCIM folder to a different location?

Fx explorer and other filemanagers can read/write external SD card but apps like camera, CoolReader etc can't.
Camera app save pics and video to internal storage and not even ask a question where i'd like to save pics because app can't figure extSD.
If i choose fb2 file in filemanager i can't open it with CoolReader - until i move the file to internal sd
cm10-2 20130810, kernels devil or cm, gapps latest, root.
what should i do?
I use Xperia M Single with latest 4.1 update (India)
Rooted
I swapped my SD and Internal memory before, but file duplication problem occured in Walkman app and Gallery, and so much headache, so i disabled the script and returned to old self, no more swap. I use Sandisk UHS 16 GB Class 10 SD card
This is where problem started.
My Walkman app couldnt detect mp3s, so i cleared cache and data, mount/unmout SD, then moved all songs to SOUNDS folder and mp3s got detected, as good as before root.:victory:
However, Album and Movies apps are still dead. They read only internal memory. I tried the same tactic, clearing data and cache in their dedicated app settings, moved around folders, yet these 2 apps cant detect SD card.
I downloded Rescan SD app, that doesnt help either.

try formatting sd card and clear the cache from walkman and album then try it, hopefully it'll work..
i was just wondering is it possible to edit a app ?:
so that rather installing the videos and documents and audio to internal storage to , install to the /extsdcard instead
also look into the sdcard for said files instead of internal storage
Let's see here... I use xposed Downloads to SD, and many apps find what I put on SD. Some apps need to be moved to SD to find the data. fortunately, Android 4.x allows most apps to be moved to SD, so no special apps are needed.
So far all my media apps including Studio, Gallery, Hi-speed camera, Stock video player, and MX Player do just fine finding media both on SD and internal.
If you want defaults to SD storage, you will have to edit the config file associated with the app, if the app does not have a feature to change storage location. Not all apps have a config file nor use the ssystem.db database.
i have one app that can be moved to sd but still downloads its documents/videos/audio to internal storage ,, it doesnt matter if the app is on sd card or internal it always looks for the folders in internal storage even if i move the folders manualy
hmm sorry didnt read properly trying it out now
Gooberdude i salute you thanks for that , by using downloads2sd, i set the two main folders up for music and movies onto sd card, re-install the app and redownload from app, this binded the file on sd card to the app
exactly what i was looking for
thanx again
Your welcome!
Hi folks
On Google play edition rom, updated to marshmallow via ota update. Initially converted my sd card to use as internal storage but phone very sluggish.. Converted back to use sd card for portable storage and phone zipping along. When I open the camera app though I get an error insert sd card before using camera..
I cleared the camera app data and cache and rebooted but no joy. Any suggestions?
Cheers
Mick
Try formatting the card (exFAT). Something may have just been corrupted converting it back/forth for use as internal storage.
I have a UK unlocked HTC 10 with stock Kernel & ROM.
When I got it (last month) - I enabled an option in Camera to save photos to microSD card.
And it worked fine.
However, after I installed 1.80.401.1 update and then a Camera app update (from Play Store), I no longer have this option in Camera to save photos to microSD card (and it saves everything to internal memory).
How can I fix this?
(microSD card works fine in other apps)
Weird, mine works fine. Also 1.80.401.1.
Have you tried to clear the cache of camera app?
I haven't heard that this update delete the option to save to sd card. Also, your sd card is formatted as internal?
Do you have any photos in your internal DCIM folder? If so, move them out and then check the settings again. My phone only shows the setting if the internal camera roll is empty.

My SD card is formatted as FAT32.
Clearing cache didn't help.

I moved all photos from internal DCIM folder to sdCard's DCIM folder and rebooted the phone.
And now Camera app shows the storage setting again (and the removable storage is selected).
Bizarre.

That was not my question. But, OK, seems it's solved.
