cellular connection problem - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

Every time I open cellular connection it has a big X on it and I need to play with switching from 4g to 3g until it works....
Someone has an idea how to solve?

I have that X mark on notification bar too. But I can receive or send calls. I don't know what's wrong.

new HTC user here having a weird problem

hey guys
ok so i have the TP2 running WM 6.5 professional
ROM 1.86.401.0 (67102) WWE
ROM date 25/9/2009
radio 4.49.25.17
protocol ver. 61.44tc.25.32U
my service provider is Etisalat in the UAE
the problem that im having is that when i set the BAND to AUTO, it picked up the the 3G network...but problem is that it keep shuffling between 3G and EDGE. because of that it wont recieve calls. one fix i was told was to manually select GSM BAND. the call problem was solved because of that.
but since i have done this, i been having another porblem. after using internet to say update the weather tab, i cant make or recieve call, or send sms or anything. everytime i use internet on the TP2, i have to switch to AIRPLANE MODE and then back to PHONE its driving me nuts
anyone facing the same problem? or has a fix to this?
Switching between 3G and Edge is normal, because not everywhere you have good service.
But just to make sure:
When you set band to AUTO and you are switching between 3G and Edge, can you call someone?
I had problems with my HTC Kaiser in the UAE. Etisalat and Du told me they only can provide mobile internet to BlackBerries and IPhones...
yeah, when it is switching between 3G and Edge, i cant make calls and i cant recieve calls either. they say my cell if off while its actually on

Go into the Bands page (where you manually select the bands). Press "WCDMA" to enable 3G only. That will keep you in 3G, but if you go into a non-3G area, you won't get any signal at all.
EDGE can only handle one thing at a time. If you don't have an active data connection, you can use the phone (call, SMS). If data connection is active, you can't use the phone functions. So, if you're on a webpage and someone calls you, their call won't go through.
3G allows you to use phone functions and data at the same time. So if you're on a web page and someone calls you, you can answer it.
ok that was surprisingly simple.. thanks
Edge can only handle one thing at a time? I routinely get and make calls and browse at the same time (or get emails via active outlook push connections, etc). And this is both when I'm in Edge areas (eg when I go to my cabin in Montana (heck - ANYWHERE west of Milwaukee) or when I have 3G (around here).
This does, however, appear to be a feature strictly of AT&T. But I don't believe the inability to do simultaneous data and call is a hardware or even Edge technology limitation - I believe its a network specific limitation.
Having said that, my money would be on an incorrect radio or DLL hanging around in the phone...
(Standard disclaimer: I know nothing about non-US carriers or their oddities. I reserve the right to be wrong- a right I exercise somewhat frequently )
well i upgraded to WM6.5 so the radio is the one that came with the upgrade.nothing else has been changed.
have a feeling the problem is with the phone as my pervious phone, sony ericsson's P990i had absolutely no porblems switching from data to call and back to data without having to do anything.
one thing i noted is that once i start an internet session, it keeps running unless i turn the switch to airplane mode to force a connection break.

Issue with Voice calls while browsing in 2G (T-mobile)

I am using HTC desire (T-mobile UK) for past 28 days. Most of the time my friends tell me that they are not able to reach me. They get the message something like not reachable.
I did not know what was the problem initially. But finally I found that the issue was when I browse internet. At my office I only get '2G' signal inside the office building. The problem is when I am browsing internet in my office (using the available 2G signal) then I cannot receive any voice calls. Who ever try to call me while I am browins in 2G will get a message "*** The mobile number you have called is currently unavailable please call again later ***"
This problem does not accur when I browse internet in '3G' or 'H'.
Is this the issue with T-mobile network or with the HTC desire phone.. please help.. Thank you
my phone is in wcmda only mode, so i would not know about that problem mate... I will try it out on gsm only and see what occurs

Looks like you've just been given an answer over on the t mobile forum. Quoted from 'Chippy':
This is a limitation of GSM/GPRS. If you have a PDP context (GPRS conection) but *no* activity is occuring i.e. no data transferred at that specific time, then someone should be able to ring you and the connection will just be suspended while they do. However, if the GPRS connection is active at the time then the channels needed by the the network to page the mobile are in use and the person calling will get an engaged tone. This a perfectly normal limitation of a 2G network and not a fault of either the phone or the carrier. Do you not have W-FI at work you could use?
Try putting your phone into WCMDA mode only and see if you keep a good enough reception to warrant its use
Tmobile is set up to reject calls when the GPRS is active. You will only get a call when on 3G on tmobile. Vodafone is the only operator in the UK that drops data to take the call on GPRS.
I never knew that. Now all those missed calls on t-mobile makes sense now. where I work has poor 3G service and I guess with so much syncing now there is more chance of a connection being active when a call comes in.

[Q] Can't receive calls while on 2g

Hello,
I have my phone for few weeks already and today i noticed one major issue. I will try to explain everything as clear as it is possible.
While i am on 3g network, there are no problems at all. I can make a call, i can receive a call, i can receive SMS etc... Everything works as it should be.
When i switch to 2g that's when the problem comes in. In the first 15 seconds after switching to 2g, i can operate my phone as in 3g - i can send and receive calls, i can send and receive SMS'es. After 15 seconds there is no ability to receive any call. The caller alway hears the same song: "the phone you are trying to reach is either turned off or out of radio coverage...". Also no SMS'es can reach my phone. Despite of this, i can send a call any time i want...
There's one thing i've noticed. When i turn my mobile data on - everything works just fine (you should be familiar with turning off mobile data function), but this is unacceptable to my mind. It seems that when i want to receive a call, i should be on 3g (doesn't matter if mobile data is turned off or on), or on 2g but with mobile data turned on...
I did one test - changed the APN's entry to a messy one, and left the mobile data on. Still wasn't able to receive any calls. Thats leads to a statement: while on to 2g, i have to be connected to the internet to receive a call, while on 3g, i can disconnect form the internet and still be able to receive all calls.
Additional info: HTC Desire - unbranded, non-rooted, stock ROM.
Can anyone help me to solve this issue?
It seems this problem only appears at home. At work (15 miles away form home) i can be on 2G and still able to receive incoming calls... Any ideas?

New mobo :/
Changed mobos to 4 desires today because of this problem.
I guess it does it with me when it changes from HSDPA to 3G to 2G. It needs to connect to the new network so it would need a little time. It's not massively a pain in the arse though.
cant htc or android developers fix this problem?i mean really this is pathetic.i am having a lots of missed calls because of this:-(
Missed calls. Calls don't use those networks.

There is a problem with HTC desire that when you go from 3G to 2G that makes the phone drop it's signal so you won't be able to receive calls.
Send your phone to HTC for repairs OP if you have warranty left.

Mobile signal strength

Hi I have noticed that as default I only get one bar showing on my mobile signal..
Until I make a call..every time I make a call the signal bars go full and all bars show full..
Anyone know what this is all about?
Thank you.
Its look like switching from LTE to GSM during calls. This is normal if you dont have Volte.
