G7 doesn't boot after flashing modified boot.img - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

So, i bought a G7 a few days ago and now i wanted to flash aosp pie. I succesfully unlocked the bootloader and then proceded to flash twrp from this tutorial: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/twrp-download-for-lg-g7-and-rooting-guide/ . After i flashed the twrp image through fastboot, i wanted to go into the recovery, but i didn't see how (only later i realized there is an option in bootloader to power off). So i restarted and started to bootloop. In the end i figured out how to get into recovery, by hard resetting the device. But in twrp i couldn't mount any partition or flash anything. Researching more, i found out that i had to be rooted first, which wasn't specified in the tutorial. I went back into bootloader and flashed the boot.img from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/development/mod-v16-t3808363 . After rebooting, the phone didn't even show the lg boot animation, and stays on the lg g7 logo. I can't get into the recovery with the hard reset method and i don't know how to power it off. What should i do?
Update: the phone just went off, i think it ran out of battery since it has been in this state for the whole night. I went into bootloader. What to do?

Charge the phone and See if phone goes into download mode then try to flash stock with lg up.. https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/guide-how-to-flash-stock-firmware-lock-t3820888

Ok, it worked. Thank you!

So after flashing the stock os and reflashing twrp, it doesn't see my sdcard when trying to flash. It also doesn't appear in mnt or other folders in the file manager.

The data partition can't be mounted because it is encrypted from stock. You have to format it first. There is still no support for the sdcard and otg but maybe soon.

[Q] Have I bricked my phone?

I used htcdev to unlock the bootloader on my phone, I then followed this online guide (Im not allowed to post the link) to flash a stock android rom to it, I followed all the steps but I when I went to reboot my phone It said something about no os installed but at that point i'd already hit continue. It then told me I needed something to root my phone so I selected install and let my phone reboot. It hit the splash screen for HTC and froze. None of the buttons work and neither fastboot or adb is recognising the device as connected. I made a TWRP recovery but currently can't do anything about it as my phone is just stuck on the splash screen.
Can someone help me reboot my phone when its frozen?
Hold both volume buttons and power button until the device vibrates and reboots. Then you can immediately hold volume down to access to bootloader, and from bootloader you can access recovery.

Thanks so much man, I'm back in the twrp recovery but now I have a new problem. The Lollipop ROM I transferred to my phone's internal storage isn't working . I flash it but when I go to reboot it says no OS installed. But I wiped the system and data partitions in the process so how do I recover my stock backup or how do I get a new rom on my phone

Flash newest TWRP, it has MTP support so you can get any other rom ZIP you want on the phone and then flash it.

Thanks mate, I actually sorted it by mounting the storage when plugged into my PC and that allowed me to transfer the zipped file which worked perfectly.

SuperSU/TWRP boot issue

Hi to everyone.
I have a LG G4 H815, unlocked bootloader, with CyanogenMod 14.1 Rom
I wanted to update the SuperSU database, I try what they called the "normal" mode but it didn't work.
Then I tried the TWRP mode, the phone booted into Recovery and install a script named OpenRecoveryScript or something like that.
Since the phone is stucked on Cyanogen Animation Boot.
Does Anyone have an idea on how to fix this ?
Thanks a lot.
Get into TWRP, factory reset, and restore back to a previous save. If you don't have that, you'll have to factory reset and reinstall CM.

LGUP and KDZ. refurbished option. reinstall recovery again.
If LGUP and KDZ doesn't work, install LG Bridge on your computer. Use the stock charging cable and plug it into the PC. Power off your phone and hold Vol+ and plug in the the micro USB to the phone. It should boot into download mode and your computer should install drivers and LG Bridge should recognize the device. Use LG Bridge to update your phone to the latest official build. After that, follow the standard instructions to install TWRP.

Why? Do you have twrp installed? If YES use the hardware key combo to go into factory reset! If you see the white background with the question for factory reset follow the instructions there to do so.
If.... I say IF ! you have twrp installed this will NOT do anything else then booting into twrp. From there you can install the supersu zip wiping dalvik or just restore a previous backup.
I re-install everything from KDZ and everything is fine now thanks
I had TWRP installed but didnt know why since the supersu update i totally lost access to the recovery.
Thanks again for your help

My OP3 is Dead! Any help is appreciated!

Long story short, I made my phone bricked with a small mistake:
I had Freedom OS (latest build) and then tried to flash Miui rom. To do so, I needed to flash back to official Hygrogen/Oxygen OS (MM). The mistake I made was to lock bootloader first. Then, phone got into bootloop....I searched and found Qualcomm software can revive any Qualcomm phone. I downloaded Qualcomm app and driver for Oneplus 3 and tried reviving my phone....What happened finally was that the phone was restarted and a screen showing Cache failed, System failed, userdata failed appeared. I tried to find Cache, system img ...of OOS 4.02 to flash separately....while I couldn't find them anywhere...I just tried fastboot flashing a recovery (both official and TWRP) but got error that partition doesn't allow writing (I guess because phone is locked now)....anyway, phone can boot only in fastboot and I wonder what else I can do....
Any help is very much appreciated!

you mean the 2nd method?
You said you lock the bootloader in 5th line, in order to flash any recovery you need to unlock bootloader again.
I also tried to lock bootloader last week and then my op3 got bricked with bootloop.
-First get into fastboot and unlock bootloader this will wipe your all data including you saved ROM files.
- after this flash TWRP or OnePlus recovery and sideload OOS ROM. Or transfer the ROM file using mtp in TWRP recovery.
- then you can easily do anything you want. Don't relock bootloader.
Those red things on your screen basically means your phone misses partitions, without these partitions it doesn't boot duhh.
If method 2 of the unbrick tool doesn't work, you can manually flash those files in Fastboot, the program has a folder that has all partitions like, cache.img, boot.img etc. I've been here as well nothing to worry about just keep us updated so we can help you
There's no mention in your post on which unbrick method you used. Was it first or second? By the looks of the end result, it was the first.
Just follow the same steps, but use method 2, that should leave you with a phone like out of the factory. Afterwards, you can simply set it up and let it update through OTA if you want to remain stock, or simply unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and flash whatever you want.
use the second method. the file you have to download contains all the raw room and when you follow the process, it would work. happened to me two times and i used this method
Just simply use fastboot oem unlock in fastboot mode then flash a recovery via fastboot flash recovery then go to recovery and once wipe all the partions and install a rom and then tried booting
Thank you all for your time and support. Method 2 saved my phone!

Infinite bootloop on Robin, help would be appreciated.

So I am a complete noob at rooting, and as the noob that I am I must have made a mistake somewhere.
I was trying to use a guide to install TWRP to get the phone ready for Magisk, but apparently the phone won't boot into the system anymore(not recovery). As it won't boot I can't transfer the Magisk and MagiskManager files over onto the phone and flash it.
Is there any way that I can boot into the phone, in order to make it detected by ADB and to transfer the files?
Any help would be appreciated.
(Edit: ) My phone works now - See my answer to hairycheez' comment.

What exactly did you do?
Here's how I did mine on Stock 7.1.1
1. Enable OEM Unlocking in Developer settings.
2. Boot into Fastboot and unlock bootloader.
3. After unlocking Bootloader, boot back into Fastboot and flash TWRP.
4. Boot into TWRP and flash Magisk.
A bit more info from you as to what it was you did up to the point where the bootloop started would be helpful to us if we're to help you.

I did everything you said except I forgot to add the Magisk file before going into TWRP to flash it. So I obviously haven't flashed Magisk yet.
So I'm basically stuck in TWRP where I can fool around, or fastboot -- or try to boot regularly, with which it just stucks at the Robin screen.
(Edit: ) I also wiped data, cache and dalvik? Or however you spell that. It said "Swipe to factory reset", which I tried doing, since I couldn't get it to boot. But alas it hasn't worked.
You can transfer files in twrp. Just plug your phone into your computer with it's original cable and it should mount. Also make sure that in the Wipe menu you select format data button on the bottom right then restart back into twrp. Phones data partition should now mount when you plug it into your computer from twrp

So the problem was that my phone wasn't detected when I plugged it in. I wanted to try giving your answer a go, but as soon as I plugged the phone in again, it was detected. Happily I threw the Magisk files over, flashed and the phone works now. :good:
(Edit: ) Just one last question, how do I set the phone to not always boot in fast boot?

Wait, did this happen using my guide? The one on Razer insider?
Sounds like you tried flashing twrp and magisk without a decrypted system partition. Wipe and then Flash stock ROM using @crian twrp method and then flash magisk.

[Guide] Returning back to Stock after flashing custom ROM

Seeing lot of users struggling while going back to stock due to one or the other needed feature on custom ROM missing, few of them are dual SIM not working, MTP, camera or others. Even if they come back to stock by restoring the stock the ROM via TWRP, sound is not working for many of them. I flashed recent LOS, RR, AOSP and returned back to stock without any problem. I made the traditional backup (yeah not followed the instruction of TWRP backup given in ROM thread ) I will quickly brief on the method. There are 2 methods for the same.
Method 1:
Before flashing the custom ROM
Boot to TWRP
Click on backup
You will bunch of options/partition to backup.
Select only - boot, data, system and vendor and no other partition. (can change the name of TWRP to the Date-Time-BXYZ)
Let TWRP finish the backup (time taken will depend on your data size)
Now again click on backup and this time select only - cust, prod and version (can change the name to Date-Time-others or a per your wish)
Flash custom ROM and enjoy
IF you face any issues and want to return back to stock, refer below.
Return to stock-
Boot to TWRP
Click on Wipe
Wipe System, Boot, Data
Click on Restore
Select the backup media (internal memory/external memory/USB etc)
Chose the 1st back up only i.e boot, data, system and vendor (Date-Time-BXYZ)
Chaneg the file system to F2FS (it was channged to EXT4 while moving to Custom ROM, remember )
Boot to system.
It should have all sound and other stuff working without any issue.
Method 2:
Use dload method to restore to full stock.
Link here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73954487&postcount=240
In worst case If you have anything non working, like FM, theme etc, flash the small data file via TWRP.
Link here- https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/guide-solution-to-themes-fm-app-manual-t3712002
Try to use the same build number's file for this.
Good luck.
I have been trying to relock the boot loader on my honor 6x BLN-L24C567B365 with no luck. It has de factory rom on it, it has twrp an root installed (magisk). I tried the dload method with the same software version it has (BLN-L24C567B365), but i get "software install failed", I want to remove twrp, root, and afther that relock the boot loader. If i try to relock in the actual state, it boots in to fastboot mode, to boot correctly again i have to unlock again de bootloader. Can you give me some advice please.
Thanks in advance.

Check all the files I have given in PM and share the results.
I tried going back to nougat from stable gsi linage os by using huru updater flasing via recovery and it resulted in a bootloop.
I can only enter the three options section -1-press power button to continue. 2- Volume up key to enter erecovery... and 3- The device will continue to boot after 5secs...
I cannot get into the erecovery at all, not even flashing another erecovery since I thought it was corrupted but no. I try to press volume buttons simultaneously with the power button and it doesn't work either. It also doesn't seem to stop rebooting.
I TRIED DLOAD and I had NO result but the same unstopping reboots.
Also I can ONLY enter that three options section by plugging in the device via pc while pressing volume up at the same time while plugging it in the USB.
Flashed recoveries for both nougat and oreo and never worked. I'm worried. Help please

Volume down and plugging in sync cable to computer won't put you in fastboot? Phone should be powered down and then this combo should get you adb access....
