SuperSU/TWRP boot issue - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to everyone.
I have a LG G4 H815, unlocked bootloader, with CyanogenMod 14.1 Rom
I wanted to update the SuperSU database, I try what they called the "normal" mode but it didn't work.
Then I tried the TWRP mode, the phone booted into Recovery and install a script named OpenRecoveryScript or something like that.
Since the phone is stucked on Cyanogen Animation Boot.
Does Anyone have an idea on how to fix this ?
Thanks a lot.

Get into TWRP, factory reset, and restore back to a previous save. If you don't have that, you'll have to factory reset and reinstall CM.

LGUP and KDZ. refurbished option. reinstall recovery again.

If LGUP and KDZ doesn't work, install LG Bridge on your computer. Use the stock charging cable and plug it into the PC. Power off your phone and hold Vol+ and plug in the the micro USB to the phone. It should boot into download mode and your computer should install drivers and LG Bridge should recognize the device. Use LG Bridge to update your phone to the latest official build. After that, follow the standard instructions to install TWRP.

Why? Do you have twrp installed? If YES use the hardware key combo to go into factory reset! If you see the white background with the question for factory reset follow the instructions there to do so.
If.... I say IF ! you have twrp installed this will NOT do anything else then booting into twrp. From there you can install the supersu zip wiping dalvik or just restore a previous backup.

I re-install everything from KDZ and everything is fine now thanks
I had TWRP installed but didnt know why since the supersu update i totally lost access to the recovery.
Thanks again for your help

Lost TWRP since flashing to 5.0

I upgraded to Skins rooted ROM and I've just tried to jump back into recovery to flash the latest Androidnow HD to discover that I no longer have TWRP installed, I flashed the new TWRP with modem support and tried again (Using Quickboot, Flashify and manual reboot - Quickboot/Flashify don't work at all and manual reboot takes me to the hard reset menu)
How can I sort this out? Cheers.
If i want to access twrp i have to go to the factory reset dialog(2 times yes) it doesn't delete anything even thogh it says so.

How to enter recovery mode?

I've followed youtube videos and other sites to enter recovery mode but all i get is an option to factory reset or to exit. I've held down the volume down and power key together until the LG logo appears and then let go of the power key after a second.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

What android version are you running? And how did you install the recovery img? And which one? If you installed the recovery properly and want to enter via hardware buttons it's the correct procedure.
--> If you're in the LG Stock recovery (where it asks you if you want to wipe your phone) just click yes twice and you'll boot into TWRP or clockworkmod (Whatever you've installed). I know that's a dumb way but it works
Note: If you didn't install the recovery correctly you will then wipe your phone!!!
To find out if you've done everything correctly with your recovery (and if you're rooted) just use the app Quick Boot from the play store, grant permissions and reboot into recovery. If you've done everything correctly you will be in recovery mode then And you can be sure that everything is setup correctly and use the hardware button method to access recovery (Just like I told you).

I'm on MM without a custom recovery., I'm hoping to just get into stock recovery and wipe cache partition. Is there even a stock recovery? Maybe factory reset yes/no is all there is?
Thanks

Nope and yes - There's only the option to factory reset if you don't have a custom recovery installed. Sorry to bear the bad news I thought you had a custom Recovery installed and don't know how to enter it. There's no stock-like recovery to access on the G4. Sorry :crying:
EDIT: Thank me, if I answered your questions

Do this, install lgup on pc, plug in usb, start lgup, let it detect on com port, click com port, ui will open, then click pbone info, it establishes avalid usb connection to phone, when it has, start adb prompt and type ' adb flash recovery (recovery image name) when done type adb reboot recovery and you're in recovery.
Just remember twrp recovery image must be in same folder as adb istalled to)

does this work on stock MM 20A or 20B without unlocking bootloader. i'd do it even if its just temporary to wipe cache and return to stock recovery after the wipe. factory reset just is too much to start from scratch with installs and setups. i am Never Buying a LG phone ever. it was my mistake
I have an unlocked bootloader, twrp (2.8.7), root and on MM V20a, Stock.
I can boot into revocery via adb reboot bootloader / fastboot recovery boot twrp, all works fine (excecpt that I cant access the external exfat sd card with cm12/cm13 based roms).
But I cant boot with Power on /Vol down keys intoTWRP recovery.
Altough I can boot in LG factory reset menu but if I perform that it wipe indeed to facotory reset no way to reboot in recovery.
I try it a couple of time without success. Also I try differnt key combinations (Power on / Vol Up + Vol down etc.), around 15 times.
Also I cant use tools like "Quick Boot" I try 4 or 5 diverents the result is always the same - android on the back with open hatch.
When I try to boot on CM12/CM13 via Power Menu directly to recovery the same effect occurs.
Whats gos wrong? Where is my mistake?
If you flashed TWRP, the "LG Factory Reset" menu will still show up. Just confirm 2 times with yes there, and TWRP will get started . Bit confusing, I know.

As I wrote - when I do this a factory reset is performed - no recovery.
Thats is my problem and unfortunately not the solution.
Update:
This is the solution:

So there is no option to clean system cache without installing custom recovery?...

HELP!! asap. I m stuck in bootloop and download mode not detected.

The full story:
had xposed and snapchat installed.. and whenever i accessed snapchat the phone boots into the lock screen and once i unlock it boots back.. until i turn on airplane mode and then off later on .. it worked in making me to stop the bootlooping for the moment. so i thought to try to freeze xposed (since snapchat detects it) and then i ran snapchat.. and went into bootloop but this bootloop didn't even boot into the lock screen not even the system.
I was able to access TWRP recovery, so i tried to reflash the rom, twrp crashed, tried to wipe the data and everything that is causing the loop.. the twrp crashed and wiped only the system... then twrp crashed and now not able to make it load it crashes instantly.
the phone now can:
- access download mode (but not detected by pc).
- boot into the system but there is no system but it bypasses bootloop (when i boot in the system the phone is detectable by the pc)
- if i try to access the twrp it starts bootlooping fast
I tried the LG Flash tool.. to flash to stock... the phone is detectable when it tried to boot into the system.. but in download mode it is not... tried to change drivers or different drivers.. cables.. it is not detectable in download mode.
LG G3 D851
if there is a way to access the phone through the booting into the system ?

@Anik49
Ok i knew how to boot into the twrp.. i press volume down + power as if going into the twrp and i plug the cable into the phone (already linked into the phone) so i was able to access twrp in the log it says Failed to mount /system (invalid argument).
I wiped the data and system and flashed rom (fulmics) and was not able to boot into the rom .. it gave me the sign of flickering Led light but not booting the rom.. i have the stock " BIN_LGD851AT-01-V10c-310-260-JUN-20-2014-0_2.zip" but i guess not possible to flash it

SOLVED : battery changed.. the battery needed to be changed. i think it is caused by thermal throttling modification caused by custom roms.

[Guide] Returning back to Stock after flashing custom ROM

Seeing lot of users struggling while going back to stock due to one or the other needed feature on custom ROM missing, few of them are dual SIM not working, MTP, camera or others. Even if they come back to stock by restoring the stock the ROM via TWRP, sound is not working for many of them. I flashed recent LOS, RR, AOSP and returned back to stock without any problem. I made the traditional backup (yeah not followed the instruction of TWRP backup given in ROM thread ) I will quickly brief on the method. There are 2 methods for the same.
Method 1:
Before flashing the custom ROM
Boot to TWRP
Click on backup
You will bunch of options/partition to backup.
Select only - boot, data, system and vendor and no other partition. (can change the name of TWRP to the Date-Time-BXYZ)
Let TWRP finish the backup (time taken will depend on your data size)
Now again click on backup and this time select only - cust, prod and version (can change the name to Date-Time-others or a per your wish)
Flash custom ROM and enjoy
IF you face any issues and want to return back to stock, refer below.
Return to stock-
Boot to TWRP
Click on Wipe
Wipe System, Boot, Data
Click on Restore
Select the backup media (internal memory/external memory/USB etc)
Chose the 1st back up only i.e boot, data, system and vendor (Date-Time-BXYZ)
Chaneg the file system to F2FS (it was channged to EXT4 while moving to Custom ROM, remember )
Boot to system.
It should have all sound and other stuff working without any issue.
Method 2:
Use dload method to restore to full stock.
Link here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73954487&postcount=240
In worst case If you have anything non working, like FM, theme etc, flash the small data file via TWRP.
Link here- https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/how-to/guide-solution-to-themes-fm-app-manual-t3712002
Try to use the same build number's file for this.
Good luck.
I have been trying to relock the boot loader on my honor 6x BLN-L24C567B365 with no luck. It has de factory rom on it, it has twrp an root installed (magisk). I tried the dload method with the same software version it has (BLN-L24C567B365), but i get "software install failed", I want to remove twrp, root, and afther that relock the boot loader. If i try to relock in the actual state, it boots in to fastboot mode, to boot correctly again i have to unlock again de bootloader. Can you give me some advice please.
Thanks in advance.

Check all the files I have given in PM and share the results.
I tried going back to nougat from stable gsi linage os by using huru updater flasing via recovery and it resulted in a bootloop.
I can only enter the three options section -1-press power button to continue. 2- Volume up key to enter erecovery... and 3- The device will continue to boot after 5secs...
I cannot get into the erecovery at all, not even flashing another erecovery since I thought it was corrupted but no. I try to press volume buttons simultaneously with the power button and it doesn't work either. It also doesn't seem to stop rebooting.
I TRIED DLOAD and I had NO result but the same unstopping reboots.
Also I can ONLY enter that three options section by plugging in the device via pc while pressing volume up at the same time while plugging it in the USB.
Flashed recoveries for both nougat and oreo and never worked. I'm worried. Help please

G7 doesn't boot after flashing modified boot.img

So, i bought a G7 a few days ago and now i wanted to flash aosp pie. I succesfully unlocked the bootloader and then proceded to flash twrp from this tutorial: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/twrp-download-for-lg-g7-and-rooting-guide/ . After i flashed the twrp image through fastboot, i wanted to go into the recovery, but i didn't see how (only later i realized there is an option in bootloader to power off). So i restarted and started to bootloop. In the end i figured out how to get into recovery, by hard resetting the device. But in twrp i couldn't mount any partition or flash anything. Researching more, i found out that i had to be rooted first, which wasn't specified in the tutorial. I went back into bootloader and flashed the boot.img from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/development/mod-v16-t3808363 . After rebooting, the phone didn't even show the lg boot animation, and stays on the lg g7 logo. I can't get into the recovery with the hard reset method and i don't know how to power it off. What should i do?
Update: the phone just went off, i think it ran out of battery since it has been in this state for the whole night. I went into bootloader. What to do?

The data partition can't be mounted because it is encrypted from stock. You have to format it first. There is still no support for the sdcard and otg but maybe soon.
