Hi,
After setting up your fingerprints are you able to then change the lockscreen type to swipe but still have the option the keep the fingerprint data and 3rd party apps to access it, such as AppLocker?
My girlfriend uses that on her S7 (still on 7.1) and I want to get her an S9 for Christmas on that of course has 8. I know that on my M20P and Pixel 3 running 9.0 that it wont let me change to a non fingerprint lockscreen but keep the data
Thanks,

Sorry, Samsung no longer let's you enroll any kind of biometric data without also enabling lockscreen. If you disable lockscreen all your fingerprint, iris, or facial data is deleted.
What I do is set my S9 lock timer to 30 minutes, which is the longest lock interval. I also activate on body unlock detection. That way during the day I rarely have to unlock my phone. I have it set to use fingerprint or pattern unlock. But due to the 30 minute lock setting it's rarely locks on me. I prefer to use no lock security but this way I can still use fingerprint access for banking and other apps which require secure login. Kind of the best work around at the moment.

Hey there,
I'm using extended controls and a lock pattern. whenever I disable auto lock in extended control, it completely removes the lock, so neither patternlock (what I want to disable) NOR slide-lock is shown: Is there a way to toggle: pattern lock and slide lock and perhaps no-lock at all? currently the toggling of patternlock is NOT working really well since extended control brings me to the settings-screen where I always have to disable / re-enable (->thus reentering a pattern) myself.
perhaps there's a software which brings its own lockscreen and thus allows something like that...
rooted desire with oxygen 2.2. thanks!
I've not heard of something like that, but I'm not saying it doesn't exist.. I see you're using an AOSP ROM, if you tried cyanogenmod, it has a feature that allows you to disable and enable the screen lock, and then re-enable it.. or, you can also set-up delay settings, so the phone only locks after e.g. 5 minutes
Don't forget to nandroid backup when switching ROMs!
It's really a pain. In android 2.1 it was possible... And I really don't understand why users don't want to have such a feature: I don't always enable pattern lock but though I don't want to disdable locking completely because the phone COULD EASILY go on and do something stupid in my pocket - thus I want to keep a simple slide unlock and sometimes (e.g. when I'm at home and have the phone laying around all the time for the whole day), I want to disable a locking screen completely since I'm not transporting it in my pocket
Hello everyone,
i am rather new to my GNex, till last week i had an N1 and was happy with it.
I am really happy with the new ICS/JB lockscreen enabling me to start the camera from the lockscreen and accessing google now from there, but its lacks the securety of any pin.
if i choose pin, password or gesture under securety the "normal" lockscreen is gone and i am presentet immediantly with the screen to enter my PIN.
with my N1 i first had to swipe to unlock the phone and then enter my PIN, my wife has an HTC One S and ist still has the same behavior.
is there any way to get that behavior back? as of right now i either have to choose the confort of the new lockscreen without any securety and0 give anyone getting hold of my phone full access, or the securety of a PIN without any confort.
as it is right now i can not even take my phone to work having the normal lockscreen enable and have to worry about everyone can use the phone when he finds it.

The easiest way to fix this would be to use a third party lockscreen, I've hear 'GO Locker' offers what you're after.
Or get an app lock application and choose which apps you need a password for. I personally like app locker pro. You can choose pin or pattern locks, whichever you prefer.

I have been trying to get Widget Locker working on my One but have hit an issue. I am thinking I may not be able to fix this without Root but I wanted to run it by the community to verify.
I have my phone linked to an Exchange server that forces a 4 digit pass-code onto the device. So from the default lock screen I swipe up and then get the keypad to unlock the device.
Widget Locker replaces the main screen and 60% of the time when I unlock the device it takes me to the keypad directly.
The other 40% of the time is the issue. When I unlock from Widget Locker it takes me to the default screen where I would swipe up. From this point I can ether swipe up and unlock or shut off the screen. When I try again it usually works perfectly.
Is there any way to get consistent behavior from Widget Locker without root? What I would expect would be to unlock and be taken to the keypad 100% of the time.
I would love to use widget locker, but I always get a 3-7 second delay with turning on my phone. Sorry I can't help you.

Go into Settings and set the HTC lockscreen to none. It forces the phone to only use WL, and you never see the stock lockscreen. Works for me,

That kills the security on the phone. We need to have ether a pin or password unlock to secure the device. Even without it I would want a pattern unlock at the least to keep it somewhat safe.
I expanded my search a bit and this seems to be a common problem on phones that have any sort of lockscreen security. What I cant understand is why it does work some times, but not others. It does not appear to be a timing issue but I cannot narrow down what else would randomly (apparently random) trigger the stock lock screen yet work other times.

No, it doesn't. The HTC lockscreen and the Security lockscreen are two different things. You can have the HTC lockscreen set to none, and still have the option to unlock with any of the various lock methods(i.e. PIN, Pattern, Face Unlock, etc...) I know this is true because I use it everyday. I use WL, have my HTC lockscreen set to none, and still have to enter a PIN to unlock my phone. And have no delay when using WL once the phone is booted.

And I am an idiot. You are completely correct. I am trying it now, thank you.
Edit: Working like a charm. If anybody else is having this issue the setting is under Personalize, lock screen style.
Thanks again!
Hello all,
I'd like to use the fingerprint to lock only specific apps without having a lock screen active.
With other smartphones I can do it, with the P2 seems to be impossible.
In order to activate the fingerprint security, I have to record some fingerprints and that's ok. Then I select the single apps I want to lock.
But, if I disable a lock screen the digits scans are deleted, therefore the fingerprint app lock feature stops working.
In other phones when I disable the lock screen, the app lock function keeps working (fingerprints scans are not deleted).
Is there any workaround ?
I only manager to get partial workaround - I set option that the phone will lock itself after 30 min and I used simple PIN to use it quickly if needed and also I use smart lock so it will not lock that often...
Hi there, Please help me with this weird bug in my MM3's lock function. I haven't read about it anywhere else and I did not update or tweak my rooted system in any way so I'm at a loss as to what caused this probleman d how to fix it.
I am no longer able to employ a simple numerical or pattern screen lock. I go to settings, choose and then confirm the number or pattern, and hit accept -- at which point it asks me for a fingerprint (which I do not want to add) and when I hit cancel, the phone remains unlocked. If I hit add a fingerprint and refuse to present my finger, the phone also remains unlocked. This is so freaking weird!
(MM3 rooted but on stock Android 9 PKQ1.181007.001 -- Miui Global 11.0.6 Stable)
Honestly, I wouldn't give a damn as I never use a screen lock except I am in fact forced to use it every few weeks or whenever I want to review my Brave browser passwords. It forces me to set a lock screen in order to see them. So if there's a workaround just to see passwords, that would do me fine.
Because the basic number and pattern locks aren't functioning properly, I wouldn't even consider adding a fingerprint (and in fact, I have never done so. I have a probably irrational distrust of fingerprint, voice and retina security ... plus I live alone so such measures aren't necessary)
Can anyone give me any clues as to what could be causing this and how to fix it or get around it? Or even if there is a way to see my Brave passwords without employing a lock?
Theoretically, I could try temporarily installing a fingerprint lock which I could then remove after reviewing my Brave passwords. But I have an irrational dislike of fingerprint, voice and retina locks and never use that stuff. Moreover, given the basic number and gesture locks aren't functioning properly, the last thing I want to do is try a fingerprint.
