Ever since i flashed new 11.15. firmware, my home button is acting weird. I can hardly register fp at any rom and when i try to unlock it never succeeds in first try, it vibrates by itself like i'm touching it even tho im not and somethimes phone unlocks itself (with pin + fp) with me touching either usb c bottom part (clearly not touching fp sensor) or not touching it at all...Could this be hardware or software prob...I tried flashing number of different firmwares and roms and no luck, idk what to do...
Same happened to my phone. It's software related, obviously, but maybe our fp sensor is now gone.
Happened once ,just open the back cover and clear the flexi port area gently, use soft material (toothbrush) ,re-connect tye flexible port, try if this work for me hope its also fix your problems.

Happened to me once. I fix it with downgrading firmware to 7.0, reboot to system then boot TWRP and install 11.15 Oreo firmware.
UPDATE : After reinstalling some different roms (8.0, 9.0 etc.) and flashing different firmwares, now I get no response from fp sensor (when i try to set fp unlock), else, homebutton works great and doesn't vibrate on its own although i can't use fp unlock... Some advice?

I don't usually have an issue but I found that not sliding my finger onto the sensor makes it work much more reliably. I just try and tap centered on the sensor and it works almost every time.

I had the same issue, someone in the forum suggested enroll the same finger multiple times for more data, the sensor is pretty small and easily stops working due to sweat and oil, keep the back of your phone pristine at all times, that might help a little, you will run into less issues this way.
Although I gave in and started using Pin authorization recently.

This happens in my case too....at every 15-20min. i have to clean the fingerprint area with a microfiber cloth and then it works only for 2-3 times.....this is really annoying...i have tried multiple times registering my finger...but doesn't seems to work.
Tried factory reset but still the problem persists.

Same here! All of a sudden my screen goes crazy, as if three fingers are touching the screen at the same time. Quick fix: restart the phone.
I waited reporting the issue to see if more people have it, or it is just my phone.
Hmmm... now that I think about it, I better wait rooting the phone and tripping Knox in case of fixing this problem under warranty...
Same problem on my phone. I have a glass screen protector, I thought maybe it's because of the screen protector. Sometimes locking and unlocking the phone also solves it for me.
I also have a glass screen protector, but I experienced the problem also without protection, since I applied the screen protector a day later.
Locking and unlocking the phone seems to "solve" it as well indeed.
Hmmm... seems we got an issue here, Samsung!
I have also addressed this topic to the online shop I bought the phone.
Ghost touches did happen to me during the first three or four days after purchase. Now however, they are completely gone.
I've had this happen to me two times in three days on two different A70's (one time on each phone). Most likely software issue.
yes me too, i can't even type fast bcs it will trigger a ghost touch between the two alphabets i'm trying to type, feels like an old man for typing slowly lol

I'm also having the same issue. Tried the 1st solution. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a70/help/ghost-touch-t3927693/post79538651#post79538651). However my phone didnt restart automatically so I restarted manually. I'll update the results. Thanks a lot.
Got a software update this morning which seems to have fixed it. At least I got to type this comment faster
guys, I don't know if it's a "ghost touch", but if I get my finger really close to the display it acts as if I touched it on that spot - but I don't feel like I've touched the screen at all... is it really sensitive or is this the ghost touch issue?
i recently tested custom roms... and rooted my p6p but somehow the fingerprint reader doesb't sense my finger when it's in lockscreen and only work after i wake the phone up... anyone has ideas what's causing it?
Restarting your device can fix some minor issues like unstable Wi-Fi, a frozen program, or a faulty fingerprint sensor. So the best solution for your fingerprint sensor might be to reset it.

Since you are running a custom ROM, the best person to ask is the creator of that ROM. See if maybe other people running the ROM have the same issue. Since you are not running Stock and haven't even mentioned which ROM you use, it's hard to help you here in any way.

I am not running custom rom but that fingerprint reader problem is on mine too and its sporadic. The reader would work fine after a reset/flash, days later it would bug out. I have to tap once or lift the phone to activate the screen for the reader to work. Rebooting the phone a few times would get it to work again but its random.
I've noticed on AOD the fingerprint reader doesn't respond while in a smartlock area and i have to press power to get to lockscreen then fpr works (or it shows me unlocked by smartlock depending if it's been 4 hours) . Can others confirm/rebut that theirs only does this in smartlock zones and not in the wild (or if you bt smartlock whether or not being connected causes this)
so i rooted and went back to stock OS. It didn't work in AOD. After several reboots, it started to work again..... this is crazy

Yeah, its a crapshoot if it will remain working the next time you restart.
I have just replaced my screen as my other developed a random crack in it... No I didn't drop it and it wasn't huge but I'm anal and ocd so I bought a replacement.
The replacement seemed to go well although I did get some of the factory glue on the sensor. I carefully cleaned it with microfiber and isopropyl alcohol. It looked good. Attached it to my new screen and connected the cable.
It seemed fine. Before glueing my new display down I tested it and the display worked but it didn't even see my fingerprint sensor. Reseated it multiple times and I've had no luck.
The fingerprint calibration won't work and it reports my version is too new. I'm tempted to factory reset but I don't know if it will work and I don't want to if I can help it. Any thoughts? It just doesn't see it at all.

Yes, this is a known issue. And it happened to me as well in February. My phone slipped off my desk and caused a big crack at the top corner, and me being anal like you, I took it to the local authorized screen repair. I didn't research beforehand, and learned that replacing the screen breaks the fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint calibration software doesn't seem to work for most people. What I learned is that it's a software issue and could be fixed with a software update. I haven't seen any update since then as there is still no fix.
I look forward to any others' feedback or knowledge because with no Face ID and no fingerprint unlock it gets annoying unlocking via PIN all the time.

Have you tried installing a custom ROM? I'm currently using Spark OS and it has Face-ID enabled. I ran into the same problem but since I got face id I even forgot my phone had a fingerprint sensor haha

I know it's a little late but when something like this happens, its best to contact Google. There have been many reports of people getting replacements for small cracks or screens that won't turn on.
As for your issue - this is a known problem with the calibration tool. Some users have stated it takes 20 tries (on a windows system) in order to get it to work. A few also stated that they re-flashed Android with the web flash tool, and it worked after that.
Your last option would be to contact Google Support and see if they can provide any fix for the calibration tool.
There are a lot of users who are experiencing this issue on Google's Issue Tracker. Hopefully we'll see an update soon enough.

There wasn't really any point for me to reach out to them because I don't have insurance and it's outside of the warranty period. They'd want me to send it in for repair which is not an option because I can't be without my phone due to work. It was a crack in the screen so there wasn't any way for them to fix remotely.
Perhaps I can try the android flash tool. Just didn't want to do a factory reset.
I might look into the custom rom. I heard about a rom having face ID, so I may head that direction

You can do it without a custom ROM. It's an Xposed module. I'm not running it and it's much better than fingerprint. I don't even care anymore about my fingerprint reader.

Awesome! I shall try this out! Thanks!
Hi all! I wanted to come back to this thread and report that I installed this module yesterday and it is fantastic! After installing the June build and I installed Lsposed then the Universal Face Unlock module and it's much better than a fast fingerprint unlock! Totally worth trying out!
Wanted to share in case this helps anyone with a replaced screen or anyone who wants to try another option to FP unlock
Something similar happened to me. The solution was to use the fingerprint calibration tool and instantly reboot the phone. Not sure if it will work, but worth a shot.

I did a factory reset which didn't resolve the fingerprint detection issue after my screen replacement last week. It did resolve the "newer version" message but resetting took me back to Android 12 as I was on 12 quarterly.
The calibration tool will not download and errors out. As @roirraW "edor" ehT mentioned, there is a defect opened in bug tracker since February but no status on ETA. A user reported success downloading the calibration tool when using a Chromebook. For me, download failed on both Mac and Windows.

Since my phone was still under warranty I went into a ubreakifix and after several trips, because my spectral sensor was bad too, I now have a fully repaired phone. Everything is working great on it now. Nice to have the fingerprint sensor back but I'm still using the face unlock mod except for with banking apps and gpay.
Ubreakifix let me know that you can't successfully move your old fingerprint to a new display as it won't pair. They had to replace using a kit with the display and a new fingerprint sensor included.
Thank you!
Interesting that ubreakifix said that you can't "move" a fingerprint to a new screen. Maybe that is what they did for you since you didn't factor reset? Honestly, I don't understand much of this but I performed a full factory reset so, for me, this isn't about moving a fingerprint. What do I know though!
The screen installed on my phone has a fingerprint reader and came from the screen supplier. I have read that others successfully installed and calibrated their screens if they got the calibration tool to download. I am hoping I can do the same once Google fixes the issue with the calibration tool download. I will also borrow a Chromebook from work and give it a try on there in the interim.
Thanks again for the insight! I appreciate your response.
I think that the calibration tool only work if the fingerprint setting still available and when the enrollment fail.
If the fingerprint setting is gone seems like the sensor is damaged or not connected correctly.
I have same problem after replacing my screen, the fingerprint print setting has gone.
Most of the times when I unlock my phone after pulling it out of my pocket some apps are opened automatically. I mostly see battery setting, Camera, weather and messages apps. Does this means my phone is hacked or is there any other possibility also?
If it is hacked, is the factory reset only option to fix it or there is any other option also?
It is most likely an issue with pocket mode. Pocket mode on F3 is just terrible. It could have happend that you touched the fp slightly while putting the phone in your pocket, it unlocked and accidental touches were made. It happens to me quite often and it is annoying. Try putting the phone display facing away from your leg in your pocket and see if that helps.
I had the same problem, when you put in your pocket, it unlocks when your finger touch the sensor... In the Settings for Security/FingerPrint unlock, select the fingerprint sensor unlock to "push" instead of "touch".
Thanks for the reply guys. Looks like @Magister54 trick worked. I havent seen that issue in past 2 days.

Ah ok. Thanks
On crdroid there is an option that only allows the finger print sensor to work when the screen is on.
Does anyone have a good solution to this? I'm getting a bit tired of pocketcalling people
The feature in MIUI where you have to push the fingerprint sensor instead of touch sound like something that could solve the problem. Or perhaps the crdroid option HewettBR mention.
Is there any other ROM with a solution?
I'm running ArrowOS now but guess I have to change to an other ROM...
