I have a really bizarre issue that potentially could be a GPU problem. Not how to resolve, or whether its time to move on from the 10?
Its an international version, on Oreo latest OTA update, no modifications. The phone is now 2 and a bit years old, but I like to squeeze as much life out of my phones as possible!
I believe since the Oreo update, I have been experiencing lag and erroneous touch input ONLY when in an app that renders slabs of Red and Orange colour.
It happens in Business Calendar 2 and Pulse SMS. When in a calendar or conversation with colour of Red or Orange, swipe texting (via Swype) becomes impossible as touch doesn't register properly. It seems that in certain areas, particularly around the edges of the screen, touch will barely register at all.
In either of these apps, if I change the colour scheme to a blue or green - no problem at all! Have tried uninstalling Swype and using Gboard or Touchpal - same problem - so I don't believe its the keyboard.
Phone is not themed (HTC default theme) and have tried both Vivid and sRGB colour profiles.
Looking for some help on where to look next please? Any ideas on what might cause this problem? The phone otherwise still operates brilliantly.
cheers.

Right!
I just noticed something really weird. I have 5 accounts set up for mail. All of these accounts have many mails in them.
Now, on the mail tab in Manila, when I switch between these accounts (so you see the swirling envelope animation) my screen flickers. And I do not mean just Manila, the entire screen... like the backlight is going on/off (well lower/higher, not really off).
This animation is the only place I've been able to find this issue. My other TP2 does not have this problem. Neither do the TP2's of the people I have talked to on IRC.
So there are two questions:
1) Is anybody else seeing this? (if so, are there other places you noticed?)
2) Anybody know what the problem may be?
3) WTF! (thats not a question)
I'd hate to have to RMA this baby.
I noticed flickering when playing solitaire. I initially put it down to the auto ambient backlight brightness adjustment but I turned that off as it just wasn't working. I still get the flicker in solitaire and it's noticeable when moving a card over some others.
After reading this post I checked my mail tab and yes I do get a flicker when moving between accounts. It's harder to spot because most of the touchflo screen is black. I haven't noticed it on anything else but that's probably because I'd dismissed flicker on other applications as down to the crappy auto-backlight adjustment.
To be clear, the flicker is a rapid dimming and brightning of the whole display.
Same here, didn't realized it until you mentioned it.
No big deal for me.

Had the same with the HD when the brighness was on full. Same on the TP2. On the HD issue it was put down to poor screen. Think its a common thing.
it seems to be similar to the technique Samsung is using with their LCD TV line... Dynamic Contrast. Basically it turns down backlighting to increase contrast between light and dark screens. I don't care for it on the Samsung TV's and I don't care for it on my TP2. But so far this is my only complaint, and it's a small one. I absolutely love this device (just got it today)
I have this issue. I guess its not normal otherwise your other TP2 would do it.
Ive also noticed it in google maps. When panning and it loads up the next image the entire screen gets dimmer.
Im going to send mine to HTC soon for a pink tinge on the screen. I will raise this with them.
I'm quite convinced that the effect was intended...
Try calibrating backlight with Lumos: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450318
It can drastically reduce the effect...
Hello,
Today me and a friend of mine noticed something really weird on the Nexus 5X. If you have the factory default wallpaper enabled (the one that appears on the box of the phone) and try to access the camera while the screen is locked the top of the screen starts to clutter.
In order to observe this you have to have:
1) The wallpaper set to the factory default one.
2) The phone locked.
Then you have to start dragging the camera icon at the lower right corner of the screen slowly without releasing. At some you will notice that a small portion at the top of the screen starts to clutter and display weird colors. At first I thought that this a hardware related issue (faulty screen) but I have verified that the same thing happen on other devices as well. Setting the wallpaper to any other, other than the default one seems to not cause this.
Both phones I tested this on where running Android 6.0.1 and had all the latest updates installed. I know this is something really minor and mostly unnoticeable but it would be really nice to know what could cause this.
I would never have noticed this if it weren't for this thread. It seemed to only happen with the default wallpaper as stated by the OP. Most people would never notice this because they customize the wallpaper and probably never use the camera shortcut on the lock screen.

Hey all.
I've been testing for a few weeks now, on both my recalled note 7 and my replacement and wondered whether anyone encounters the following issues. Think it could be software related bug or sorts. Definitely not hardware.
Sometimes the quick settings toggles can become unresponsive ( will work after a few presses) including the settings cog. I found this to happen mostly if the screen res is changed to QHD and the font set to small. With medium size font all works great.
Although, IF I reboot after I make any display changes, everything will work fine. I've found messing with the font settings and resolution can make the bug appear. I could pull the drop down and press the settings cog, it may or may not respond after the first press.
Now. If I set the screen res to just FULL HD with any size font, big or small every icon/setting/toggle WILL respond immediately, whether I reboot after making the changes or not.
Don't get me wrong, my phone runs GREAT (Touch wood). Just wondering whether anyone else experiences or takes notice of these things?
no, nothing simmilar here, althoug I dont like to play with resolutions, as they scrammble things around
I'm having the same problem though I must add I haven't been fiddling with the resolution or display settings. It is always at QHD.

I've still been testing it, it defo seems to be a random software bug. The Layout boundries option in developer settings also shows how tight the lines are around some icons.
The glass and temperature may play a part in touch sensitivity also. I've cleared cache from recovery and seems to have temporarily solved the issue. Can be fixed I reckon by re-introduced the increase sensitivity option for gloves etc...
I have had this a couple of times. Never changed the resloution.
Same. Also in addition of this, my replacement runs warm idling and quite hot while loading. The whole system seems quite snappy but sluggish. My hope for Samsung is gradually vaporizing...
Greetings to fellow Pixelers!
It seems that the LED Notification/Blinker does not work on Pixel 2 phones properly
and from what I can gather, Google knows about this problem.
I have personally tried every solution out there to no avail.
So this is a simple POLL to see how wide spread this problem is?
Thank you for your participation and any possible solution/fix!
You could ask here where the discussion is ongoing. Yes I understand you want to know if the actual light is working, but other than toggling it on in settings have you tried Light Flow or other apps?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/xl-2-notification-led-t3683788
Mine works fine, but notification light wasn't always turned on by default for a lot of apps. Instead of faffing around with notification settings, I just use Lightflow.
Mine works and using the settings in my mail (Aquamail) and Text (Textra) clients , I have different colored lights for each mail account (x3) and a totally different color for texts. That covers most of my needs, so I haven't even looked into LightFlow .. but I might.
Mine was turned off by default -- I've turned it on, and had to go through apps to select which ones I wanted to trigger the LED. Seems to work fine. But frankly, with notifications appearing on the lock screen, it's far less necessary than it might have been with an earlier phone. I also tried installing Lightflow (I've had a premium license for years -- since my Galaxy Nexus I believe). Lots of options, but within an hour, the OS was warning me of heavy battery usage from Lightflow. I honestly didn't see a whole lot of value in it beyond the default functionality, so I uninstalled it for now...
LED blinker app works fine,I'm using it on my Panda
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker.pro
Moving from op6T to op11 has been more challenging than expected for me due to some small but fundamental changes in behaviour.
One I knew about before I bought the phone - the change in notification shade behaviour regarding expansion vs jumping into the app...
Another I didn't realize - bubbles instead of chat heads for FB messenger. Seems less intuitive to engage it, close it, etc. And I'm frequently getting screen flashes while typing in a bubbled convo
Are there magisk solutions to this or am I going to need to either accept or full rom swap?
