I am going to try 4.4 kernel based rom so was wondering about the above question i.e what's the diff between baseband and bootloader or both are used interchangably?
I had updated my baseband before with the zui 3.5 China version, so can i go ahead and install 4.4 kernel based roms?
Also i had installed deodexed zui 4.0.233 and it was working properly
I was in your situation recently.
I was running AiCP 13.1 + Nameless since July. Device was running butter smooth, stable and satisfactorily performance while gaming.
However since last PubG update things took nose dive while gaming. Extreme heating, horrible battery backup. So decided to move on to latest Pie.
My steps,
1. Using QPST/QFIL, installed the stocked ZUI 1.9 Chinese.
Tried to OTA but got server error while downloading ZUI 2.0
2. Downloaded the stock OTA update package of ZUI 3.5
3. Used the OTA update. It took several incremental updates till it settled for ZUI 4.0.199
This made sure I am having latest official baseband.
4. Used my previous boot unlocked image via ADB/Fastboot to unlocked the bootloader
5. Flashed latest TWRP
6. Flashed the Factory to vendor stuff
7. Flashed the latest Treble TWRP
8. Flushed AEX 6.0 + GApps Nano
Devices booted up nicely and now running AEX 6.0 for last 8 hours or so.
Thanks.

is themes apps working for you? flashing emui 8 via huru will give incomplete flash.
This was possible for the US variant ( L24) since July. It was mentioned couple times before. I think using hwota is a cleaner way of upgrading.
How do you do it?, Where is the links of the files?
thanks for responses, i updated the op and hopefully that is a bit more informative.
let me know if it is confusing at all and ill try to fix it
Can i flash p gsi.? (havoc 2.0)
And.. Is volte working..?
If I am not wrong I think volte will not work on any custom roms except for a stock based custom room because Huawei hasn't released source for it. Dunno I could be wronf

It's not a custom rom... It's gsi
anyone tested other gsi? i only tried open kirin roms
are you sure it didn't rebranded? at about information, it say bln-24 or bln-al20? it could brick the phone, I thinks is better using the emui 8 from india instead the china version
hey guys, any A ONLY GSI ROM should work. i used treble resurrection remix NOT openkirin as the op states.
and i DID NOT rebrand, it states in rom info i am BLN-L24 -thats usa ver.

That's great man, i need to backup a lot of stuff since last TWRP backup, but I'm definitely gonna do this. I own a BLN-L21, so i hope this'll works the same as on any other variant, and that would be the real gem in all of this. Thanks for sharing

Searching for "hwota7" gives you this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/development/hwota7-hwota8-honor-6x-t3792601
In short, all you have to do is put the oreo firmware files (L22 version, not the Chinese version) in the update folder and run the batch script. Choose L24 region during the process and you're done. I've done this at least couple dozen times as I frequently test out all treble ROMs as they're released/updated, and sometimes go back to nougat in case I find something that's not compatible with oreo. But all in all, this oreo ROM is very stable and is my daily driver.

During your testing, which ROM has been the most stable in terms of daily-driver use so far? Last year after getting this 6x I tried a few different ROMS, back before OpenKirin happened, and had nothing but problems with boot loops and etc so I went back to stock EMUI5. Few days ago I got B365 and then B376 via OTA after installing the Huawei software on my PC. This phone really makes me miss my S5 with LineageOS.
Zui 2.5 confirmed that it is necessary to install roms with kernel 4.4, it does not need zui 3.5 (in my case I had already installed zui 2.5 indiana as my rom and I decided to go for custom roms and today I use them with kernel 4.4 without having to install 3.5 zui per qpst)
I haven't unlocked my device yet.. but I'm planning to flash custom rom. currently I'm using zui 2.5 the official one. So you are saying that I can just 1)unlock my device 2) flash twrp and flash the latest version of aex (pie) without flashing zui 3.5/3.7 via qpst??.. I know your post says it but did you face any problem???.. (I'm new to this)..

Friend I just left the aex pie to na bootleggers. Yes you just need to unblock the bootloader and install twrp as a recovery, after that you need to do the following: First install the factory, then watch the twrp treble (reinstall back to twrp) and install rom and gapps and what you want

How many errors etc ... none so far. You have to have zui 2.5 Indian to do what I did!
I left aex pie because there is a bug in the download to download anything has to be completely on the page for example I want to download a game and I can not leave it in the background and I can not let the screen erase because the download pauses
If you want to install only nougat based custom roms, zui 2.5 indian baseband is fine. But if you want to use oreo or pie roms, you need to flash at least zui 3.5. I've used oreo roms on zui 2.5 baseband and it gives you Little glitches here and there and offline charging doesn't work.

Friend here works all up to offline loading (I'm using it on bootleggers Pie)
Ok, well.
I saw that i can install android pie on my already rooted oneplus 5t (android oreo 8.1, OxygenOSS 5.1.7).
I downloaded the file from xda, updated TWRP at last version, downloaded also last Magisk version for rooting after updating my android version.
I got "Zip treble compatibility error" That i didn't know what is it so i searched and i found out that i had to remove the "compatibility" zip in the zip of that downloaded update.
I did it and it didn't worked again.
What is happening why i can't get android pie?
Also, are there any problems with this build? In searchings i read that the phone doesen't recognize the 100% of batterylife and keep get charged and can be ruined.
What if you download the android pie beta from the oneplus.com website. ive been using this for a month or so and it worked fine for me, especially when you're used to OOS.
So if i download the rom from there, i got no "Zip treble compatibility" error?
i can speak only for blu_spark software but this worked for me:
use TWRP 9.85 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=30332) to update FROM 5.1.7 to pie (remove compatibility.zip for this update)
once you are ON pi, install
TWRP 9.91 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=31102) for any update from now onwards (no need to remove the compatibility.zip any more)
use the rom from this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/official-oxygenos-4-7-2-7-1-1-ota-t3709265
official rom: http://otafsg.h2os.com/patch/amazon...TOxygen_43_OTA_045_all_1901072301_6ada5c1.zip
I am going back becouse xposed framework is not supported on android pie
by the way i post here how i got pie from oreo becouse i faced lot of problems!
-First of all download the official update
-then, the only twrp i found that work is this: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/dumpling/twrp-3.2.3-0-dumpling.img.html the 3.2.3.1 didn't worked for me.
-i had to flash magisk uninstaller and then install magisk, i got bootloops before doing uninstall and then install.
Btw i am downloading another rom for 8.1 becouse xposed don't work for now on 9.
Any suggest for changing the rom? I am searching what to get
thanks anyway guys
Currently my redmi note 5 pro is on miui beta pie build.... When im trying to install pixel experience rom with twrp it showing errors and the rom is not getting installed....
Previously when my phone is running on oreo based miui i didnt faced any problem while installing.
Please tell me how to install pixel experience in rom...
I also could not install the rom pixel by TWRP in miui 10 beta foot. Now I'm back to stable, can I?
I just installed PE(Pie FW) yesterday with orangefox from MIUI Pie Beta, CAF version. OfficialTwrp is not completely supporting Pie Roms so use orangefox or use modified TWRP which supports Pie.
I'm using OrangeFox-R9.0-2-whyred-MIUI-Pie which works perfectly fine Pie FW & don't use it on Oreo FW, there's a seperate one for Oreo.

get PIE TWRP recovery.
boot into Fastboot mode.
boot into PIE recovery using "fastboot boot TWRP-Name.img" in cmd.
Format data.
boot into Fastboot mode again.
again boot into PIE recovery using Fastboot Command "fastboot boot TWRP-Name.img".
If you want to install Latest PE then grab PIE FW.
OR
If you want to install Older version PE then grab Oreo FW.
Flash FW.
Flash Rom.
Wipe Cache/Dalvik.
Reboot.
Hello!
I currently have completely stock and BL locked M1803E7SG 3/32, on MIUI 10.3.1.0 Stable Pie.
Tomorrow is my big day, timer in MIUI unlocker will finaly allow me to completely mod my device.
I did some modding a long time ago on Xperia X10/Xperia Play (old 2.3.3 Gingerbread times), but many things changed nowadays, so I have few questions:
1) Firmware - is it something like low-level SoC driver pack included in official releases? Back in a day nothing like that was updated/changed. I have latest stable Pie so that point shouldn't be a problem beacuse I will flash Pie FW compatible ROM, just want to confirm my understanding there.
2) ARB - as far as I'm concerned, this thing has no meaning if I'll flash Pie AOSP ROM over stock Pie MIUI right?
3) Kernels - again, back in a day kernels were completely separate from ROMs itself, do modern ROMs require kernel flash when going from official MIUI to AOSP-based ROM? Or is AOSP-compatible kernel already included in ROM .zip?
I want to use this one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/development/rom-cosp-t3891988
Another thing about kernels, I want to use latest PureCAF, do i need to flash it before ROM .zip or after?
So my path should be like that:
Official MIUI Pie + stock kernel + locked BL
1. Unlock BL via official Xiaomi tool
2. Flash latest TWRP thru fastboot, boot into it, flash Lazyflasher thru TWRP
3. Perform a wipe (dalvik, system, cache, data)
4. Flash ROM .zip thru TWRP, flash Gapps.
5. Flash PureCaf .zip thru TWRP again
6. Reboot into clean&fast new phone?

1. Don't care about that driver, the only thing you need to pay attention is the rom based on oreo or pie fw. The other thing you need to know is if the custom recovery compatible with pie fw or not, i recommend latest OrangeFox R10 RC3.1 as it's unified for both oreo and pie fw.
2. ARB has almost no meaning now, old arb3 fw is just too outdated and not recommended to use as lots of roms now moving on to pie fw which makes this even more meaningless now.
3. No, compatible kernel is now included in the rom zip itself, although you can choose to flash another custom kernel based on your taste for better performance or battery backup, noted that some kernel only supports aosp, some only for miui, some for both and some only supports pie/oreo fw.
4. Your step is right, but you'll need to flash dummy.img (just google whyred dummy.img) before you can flash other in fastboot, Orangefox doesn't require lazyflasher, TWRP does. For Gapps, read careful if the rom already includes it or not (Pixel Experience for example), miui based like xiaomi.eu doesn't need it too, custom kernel is flashed after rom.

Hi,
Can you please guide me as well? I'm on same boat as OP.
I have to unlock BL and install custom ROM. I'm on MIUI 10.0.6.0 Oreo (Indian whyred).
I can just follow this thread right?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/one-xiaomi-redmi-note-5-whyred-unlock-t3778049
And I want to install Pixel Experience ROM. And what's about this fw-less ROM!
So, for PE Pie ROM, I just install the other recovery (Orangefox) instead of twrp. Everything else is same right.
1. Unlock BL from the main thread
2.Install Orangefox recovery
3.Flash ROM
Thanks
