what version of miui did you had last time.? and wich version are you flashing.? seems ARB is kicking and not letting you flash rom
i had miui 10 and i've tried miui 9 and 10 and none able to flash....pls help
I did the exact same thing 2 days ago. Unlocked boot loader installed some custom roms for testing but i wanted to go back to official MIUI 9 so here is what i did. I have Redwolf TWRP recovery installed so all i did was put the full rom file of MIUI 9.6.4 in internal memory, did a format and wipe and installed it from there. It's working fine now and i am even getting a notification in updater that 10.0.2 is available (but i am not gonna install it because MIUI 10 sucks!)
Follow this tutorial starting from 8 minutes where you get the idea how to go back to MIUI from custom roms. Don't try the Mi Flash Tool method to go back!

Here all the Roms links you need (use recovery not fastboot links for downloads) and make sure to read about ARB 3 and ARB 4 versions before messing up things http://en.miui.com/thread-2340434-1-1.html
Only go forward once you are sure about everything be it bypassing ARB, flashing TRWP recovery, using lazyflash file etc because one wrong step and you can endup with a bricked phone.
ALso check this link about bypassing http://en.miui.com/thread-3436592-1-1.html
i had miui 10 before can i flash miui 9...is it ok ?

I also had MIUI 10 but now i am back to 9 so it's ok as long as you install ARB4 versions of MIUI 9 and they start from 9.5.19+ so never ever go for any version below that. I will recommend 9.6.4 (it is the final version of MIUI 9 Global) i am using it from 2 days it's stable and the only issue is battery isn't that good as it was in MIUI 10 but MIUI 10 had several issues so i will wait for a stable MIUI 10 instead of moving back just for battery.

there is a trick on this phone when you boot not official boot or recovery image,
it will get stuck in boot logo if you reboot.
the solution is to restore aboot-bak to aboot partition, so that's what i did in "init.restore.sh" script.

I'd suggest using /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/aboot instead.

Anyway, very good job for this twrp. It gives me hope !!!
This TWRP, suitable for ZE500KG ?
Please,
I was waiting so long (2 months now, i check almost every day) for a custom ROM to flash my ZE500KL, but it seems that no developper is interested to build it... so, please, is there anyone who own a ZE500KL (of course, a working device ), who can do a TWRP backup, who can upload it in a server (in zip or rar), so i can download it and do a restore to my poor device ? Please
Thank you :fingers-crossed:

The best i've done till now is to :
- download the .222 stock rom from Asus
- Extract it, and edit the update-script to remove the 4 first line talking about device kind
- Recompress in ZIP and flash through this TWRP 3.0.0.0 (it's weird that stock recovery can't flash the original ZIP) ==>> no more error device, it said that it succeed
But it don't really fix all problems :
- The device is booting and i can access the welcome screen, but either it stucks and reboot automatically after 3 or 4 minutes, or stucks and i have to remove battery, or i have a lot of errors like "goggle play stopped" or "process.xxxx stopped" or something like these
All details concerning the problem is there http://forum.xda-developers.com/zen...ng-rom-zip-asus-ze500kl-t3302389#post65465004
Tested and Flashed on a ZE500KG, It works flawlessly!
Forgive me if this is a noob question, but does this also work on ZE551KL, or should I stick with this one
wow, it's sweet.
maybe it's time for coming back for ZE500KL.

NOTE: If the recovery asks you for a password, you have to erase the /data partition. So press "Cancel" and then Wipe>Format Data>"yes" to fully decrypt your phone. Note that a decrypted phone will boot more faster and will improve the FS speed.
THIS WILL ERASE YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE
F.A.Q
Q: Can i flash MIUI ROMS with this recovery?
A: Yes, you can. If you flash an official MIUI ROM, you have to flash Magisk or Boot Image Patcher too, to disable the dm-verity and forced encryption.
Q: Can i flash custom ROMS with this recovery?
A: Yes, you can. This recovery is Oreo ready too.

As i know , PsyMan said in the thread that when you install the official rom you need to flash either Magisk either Boot Image Patcher for it to boot.
Hi, this twrp version asks for a password (for decrypt purpose) ; why ? There was no password prompted in 3.1.0.0 .. My Mi Note 2 is not encrypted and obviously I don't want to format /data.

Then flash 3.1.1 again and problem solved. Also , your data is password protected and everytime you start your rom it has to take some time to "unlock" your data partition. This way , if you format woth the new twrp, you will have a great increase in bootup speed.

Let me see if I understand, I need to flash magisk and also boot imagen patcher? Where can I get this last one (boot imagen patcher) and it has to be done after flashing the ROM without restarting it?

I have the same problem
Months ago installed Jaguar Oreo 8.1 on a friend's 3/32GB Zuk Z2 Plus, along with the usual bootloader unlock, TWRP 3.2.2.0 and Magisk.
Today my friend went home and we just downloaded CarbonROM 8.1.0 for a change, but upon booting to TWRP something went wrong, the screen got filled with some sort of super zoomed in error message which I couldn't decipher as a handful of letters were already enough to fill the entire width of the screen and more. We managed to reboot to system and upgraded TWRP to latest 3.2.3.0 via TWRP application. We rebooted again to recovery but same error, this time with

Tux in the middle of the screen.
I asked my friend if he had installed something suspicious in his operating system, he said some pixel launcher whateverstuff via Play Store but, other than that...
He went home but just sent me a screenshot of his About phone screen: his baseband version is 9-00026-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.63821.1
Could it be that his baseband version is too old? This was not a problem before, though I do not know when did his recovery stopped working.
Could this be a bootloader code problem? Any bootloader upgrading tips?
If some of you could discern what went wrong here, please say so.
Thanks and regards
BUMP
It already happened to me thousands of times to get that big error, but as long as you don't skip the 5sec of the bootloader there is no error. Never seen the Tux thing but to fix the error itself you just need to flash a splash (custom or stock) from recovery.
Interesting…
Interesting, will have to wait a little for confirmation (once my comrade tries it out).
Just checked [GUIDE] How to Create Custom Splash Screen (Boot Logo) for Zuk Z2/Z2 Pro.
Flashing a new splash.img just removes the error, doesn't it? I mean, the “bootloader unlocked” 5 second wait was non-existent in former times, my old rooted Moto G XT1032 has not such annoyance.

The baseband is outdated.. The latest baseband is 1.76 or 1.70 .. Bootloader needs to be updated as well.. The best way ahead would be qpst to latest zui..
Qpst zui 1.9 and then ota update to latest zui 4.0 and then follow unlock and install latest twrp.. Be aware it does not support treble roms. Also all data on phone would be lost so back the stuff up.
Thanks!
Thanks for chiming in sanjay.2704. I have a few questions:
QPST looks to be an official Qualcomm stock firmware flash tool. Do I need to download some stock ROM from somewhere or the QPST tool does it for me? Mmm, seems it does not.
Why do you say QPST ZUI 1.9 first? 0K, found related stuff here: [ROM] [OFFICIAL] [OREO] ZUI 3.5.261 ST for Z2 Plus/Z2
Mmmkay here it goes, will flashing to ZUI 1.9 or the latter 3.5.261 upgrade the baseband and bootloader? Is this a yes?
Cheers

You can upgrade of course to 4.0.199, but flashing 3.5.xxx is also sufficient.

fine, Im stuck with same problem, can pls explain these things in more detail to a rookie??
I think we need some clarifications about the anti-brick procedure.
Now i'm on eu miui 11.0.2.0 android 9 with twrp and magisc. Let's say i flash preloader and ik.
Question 1- will i still have twrp or do i have to flash it again?
Q 2 - will i be able to enter miui or do i have to flash it again?
Q 3 - if i want to flash stock miui how can i do it without risking overwriting the preloader?
Q4 - i read that after flashing preloader i have to flash indian vendor,is that true? If yes, where can i find it,and will it work with my eu version?
Q5 - will i be able to flash the custom roms that are android 10 or will i have issues?
I think many users have these questions and would be very helpfull to have some answers.
Regards
Ok, until I understand you don't have flashed the preloader ? I am not a expert but in my case I have flashed the preloader, them lrtwrp ( root and close avb) and everything works fine.
Q1: flashing preloader and lk don't affect recovery but the way to enter recovery and fastboot change.
Q2: preloader don't affect current miui rom ( only Android 9)
Q3: good question? I want know too ?
Q4: it's not true, I flashed preloader using Indonesian rom without issues ( Indian vendor is for custom ROMs)
Q5: in every thread of custom rom developer recommend flashing preloader before of all.
I am not a developer but have some experience, if someone think I am wrong let me know, I talked with my only experience.

This depends if you backup contain those partitions, I think the most recommended is making a new backup :good:

Assuming you are talking about a TWRP backup (I dont exactly see how it could be different but in case) to backup those partitions (they are their own partitions not part of system or data or boot or whatever), you actually need to manually select those partitions IF available for pickup (not always the case depending on devices and TWRP versions). If you only backed-up the usually recommended partitions being system, data and boot then no you do not risk to override anything from my understanding of things (please tell me wrong if I am).
About Q3 which was not previously answered:
If you manually flash that stock using fastboot method, you simply skip those 3 preloader partitions.
You can also remove those 3 partitions from the zip you previously downloaded if present. If not present you are safe.
About Q5 from my understanding the preloader fix thing is working for anything Android 9 based, stock or roms. Which means you are safe flashing Android 9 based roms. As for Android 10 based roms, well I guess you are back to normal bricking. This is only a safenet, you dont risk to brick anything if you follow the procedures properly as describe in first posts of all roms or things.
Hope this helps.
Excuse me but I need help is I will downstate to miui 11

I revived an old Zuk Z2 Plus flashing chinese ZUI 1.9 via QFIL.
locked bootloader, stock recovery and system working.
I'd like to update it to ZUI 3.5 to upgrade baseband, but I don't want to put myself in trouble just by flashing the package via QFIL, I don't want to brick my device.
is there a safe procedure to do this?
thanks to everyone who'll point some info.
cheerz.

hi mate, thanks a lot for your reply.
I managed to download ZUI_2.5.334 via QFIL, and then unlocked bootloder, flashed TWRP and installed a custom Android 10 firmware.
I thought I needed to update my baseband before moving from ZUI 1.9 [MM based] to a most recent firmware.. but from ZUI_2.5.334 all is good now.

I was worried to brick my Z2 Plus, that's why I asked in the first place.
but well.. I QFILled the ZUI 2.5, started up the phone, enabled USB debugging from developer options, and then started the whole procedure: bootloader unlock [re-locked after QFILling ZUI 2.5], TWRP installation and Havoc OS flashing.
believe it or not, it worked!

I know.. but I couldn't find a QFIL package of ZUI 3.5 to flash.. so I tried with 2.5 and it did work, even if I don't know how/why.
weird thing is that I don't have a baseband row into phone settings..
