Hi,
I would like to suggest to our moderators or to our app developers if they can tweak the Xperia Keyboard or Google Keyboard to disable the fullscreen feature whenever you are on landscape mode (like playing games, watching movies etc.).
The reason for this request is the fullscreen mode on landscape is quite annoying since it covers the entire screen.
Actually, I found a good solution for this but by using an Xposed module. However, I don't want to root my phone since I just bought it a month ago. I hope someone can help me do this without the need of rooting the phone. Command via ADB shell will do as well if there's a certain command for that.
I'm using Huawei P10 VTR-L29C636B162
Thanks!
Hi,
I don't have anything issue like that with Gboard. Can you post a screenshot for better understanding, what you exactly mean?
And we also need your phone model and firmware version.
I'm on VTR-L29C432B162.
As per your screenshot and with the attached image below, you will see that our keyboard on landscape mode covers the entire screen and this is not helpful when playing games, (like mobile legends). But, if our keyboard has an option to disable fullscreen on landscape, the background will still be visible.
The image that I have attached is screengrabbed from Playstore from the Xposed App/Module called 'Disable Fullscreen Keyboard'. It only mean that this can be done if our phone is rooted. But, my request is if we can also do this even our phone is not rooted and no need to install Xposed app or modules.
I hope our mods can modify Google Keyboard, Swift Keyboard, Swype Keyboard, Xperia Keyboard(ported) disabling the fullscreen feature of the keyboards.
I hope I made it clear.
Up. I hope someone can fix this.
yeah this feature is so annoying, full screen in landscape mode were disabled when i was on kitkat. now its back again on gboard 2017 for nougat and beyond. at least on certain apps or games only
It would be interesting if it's even possible with root...this is so annoying. I switched from iOS and thought Android is a bit further but after more than a year on Huawei I have to say, that many things are far behind a jailbroken iOS.

It is available rooted by the looks as bauer said above.
It drives me mad too. If I'm watching Netflix or something and someone messages I have to guess and hope that what I've written is correct or I have to go back out, write message, go back in, find the movie and start again, quite annoying.
Had email back again saying I should be getting my BL unlock code soon so hopefully this app still works.

This is possible with xposed module called "Disable Fullscreen Keyboard". But Xposed requires Root. So far no way doing this without root access.
yesterday i found the 'Fluid navigation gestures' app and it's awesome it has almost perfect gestures like xiaomi's ones and if you have root or give access via adb (it will not trip the knox)
I think is the best app right now until Samsung releases a new gesture system!
if you liked the app let other people know!
you can find it on playstore!

I also just found it around 2 days ago and guess what? Im currently running it now because who in the world would not love that all-screen estate? Navbars are hidden (with adb shell command) yet you can still navigate your phone. I've set mine like that of iPhone x's gestures and I'm really liking it.
In-app links and guides are pretty useful too because I'm a noob when it comes to adb shell, I know nothing yet I still manage to get it working. This app is still in its unreleased version but it is already so stable.
And ofcourse, to complement the iphone x gestures, I also have the ios 12 launcher together with samsung task changer.

why you don't just buy an iPhone?
using such a launcher uses a lot of battery and makes the phone laggy
i recommend you to try the hyperion launcher or Niagara ones

There's what we call "personal preference". I have many things I dont like in ios ecosystem.
And no, I dont get any lag nor any battery drain, besides, why would you recommend hyperion launcher while you just said launcher sucks

Sorry
I didn't specified ... I mean nova launcher and thoose ones are fine, i never had a problem but other launchers like fake samsung launchers and ios ones from the app store
I downloaded a few on my old phones and i had bad experience like ads from knowhere, ram optimizer (actually killing all the apps and then the phone started lagging etc
(Most of the time on thoose launchers there is a ton of bloatware that makes the phone suck)at least on my experience

Never conclude when you havent even tried them all, because there's always new launchers coming out. Never had those "bad experience" with my launcher.
Back to main topic now.
edit: it works now!
Thanks for that tip! Tried it, liked it, bought it. But even spending the money didn't make it the pro version it still shows the option to buy and doesn't allow me to use the pro features. Any suggestions? I wrote a mail to the developer but no reaction till now (I wrote the mail just a few hours ago so nothing to complain about that!).

You just posted the same thing on reddit....
i like OnePlus Gesture app. i think it's the best one so far
This seemed like a shill .. but daamn aren't that some nice gestures!
The app seem to come from / be endorsed by the MIUI team https://en.miui.com/thread-4147804-1-1.html
I was looking for an app like this, it's perfect.
If I remember correctly, Havoc Oreo has a kind of this built in ( although it's less customizable )

i agree. i've tried a lot of gestures apps and the problem with infinity display is that being curved sometimes makes you miss the back gesture (swipe from left or right) while with oneplus gesture u never miss one beacuse gestures come always from the bottom of the screen

Prove it?
Really, i did not posted anything about that on reddit?
That is my opinion because i had xiaomi device and i liked that future!
The app is great.
I had a Xiaomi Mi8 SE and I really missed the edge gestures it had. There are other edge gesture apps but this is the only one which adds those smexy animations like on MIUI.
I am probably missing something, but why don't you guys just use Samsung Good Lock?
There's "One Handed Mode" app enabling navigation gestures.
It has been featured on XDA, too.

Been using it for 2 days & it's working flawlessly. Loving it
I like it but do you know how to show navbar while playing the game I just what to use the navbar for screen recording.
Thank you.
This guide was designed for S10 series, but the majority of the Guide of course is applicable to all android Pie devices as if based on apks and adb debugging, you shall test at your own desire. For adb debugging to be enabled, go to: About Phone > built number > tap until you unlock "developers option" go back and and inside "developers options" enable "adb debugging" from there.
First and foremost, I would like to express how I am amazed with the level of customization you can do without root on a Samsung nowadays, as I've been an android/samsung user for quite some time its really something to consider.
Okay, now lets cut the chase. What I really did is to put together different applications, tips and miscellaneous information together in order to achieve what I felt the most customized Device possible without root and that I think lots of users could still absorve all or at least part of this guide in their own devices.
1) First, what I did what to go through the Battery Optimisation Guide by @Corv0, which honestly speaking led me to an average of 9-10 SoT.
1.1 Even though people talk alot how they liked OneUI I cant change from Nova Launcher, its simply the ultimate Launcher experience. I recommend getting the prime version, totally worth it and you get it for life.
1.2. If you are used to Adway, you know we can't live anymore without it, but in times without root, Blokada is for me the best alternative. I also found it better and more stable than Adhell and does not need key update every now and then, thats lame!
2)If you like music and once used Ressurection Remix roms, you must have fallen in love with Pulse music bar. It simply reinvigorates the navigation bar. As an alternative I must suggest the well known Navbar app. For me its a must to change navigation bar color and enable their music visualizer.
3) If you once used xposed in a samsung, you might remember the Samtweak, and now you can have it in Pie without the need of root with great function like 180 degrees reverse (which I find very useful when using headphone jack so it does not bother you against the chest for instance), volume warning, navigation and status bar hide, etc
4) Another must in S10 plus is to use Button Mapper. Some may talk about Bixby Action app, but Button mapper is the ultimate deal with many more options, check video link.
5) Okay this is more of a personal preference, which is my case I can say: sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't. If you didn't like/ didn't get used to the front camera cutout I strongly suggest to use Status Bar and change status background color to black. I find it do the job of hiding the front camera pretty decent and improved a lot indoor and low light experience as you cant see the cutout almost never.
6) Last (so far) but not least important, if of course the installation and usage of Nice Lock (for the ones without access to Good Lock). I think we may can it as an official customization app for samsung devices. It almost made me remember Rice tweaks app. I personally like to use 7.1) Task Changer mod to change recent apps back to vertical. 7.2) Navistar to fully customize the navigation bar with different icons and 2 more buttons. The rest I didn't really use it but I suggest you install them all and see what's useful to you.
I will record a video and post it here (probably tomorrow) to show all these changes and tweaks I did and how they actually appear on my device.
------- v2 (April 26th):
Actually these are "tweaks" I had already done before v1 but simply forgot to mention on the original post however to keep things in order I will continue the numbering:
7) Bloatware removal, this is another must you have to do, specially when talking about samsung, with is known for the amount of apps its included from stock. And within this link you can easily do it through adb shell. Big thanks to @Neo3D for this amazing guide.
7.1) Once you "debloat" your device, make sure you deinstall/deactivate youtube standard version as well, and install the well known and amazing Youtube Vanced (Non Root version of course). In addition, set it as standard so it will be fully integrated to the links.
Well those are my suggestions for the customization of s10 without root (so far). If you have more tips please comment down below.
Video is up, check comment for exact cue by "tweak": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_giH6O6-Pdo
Great guide for the S10 XDA gang! Kudos
Nice guide.
Thanks

Doesn't bloat removal cause more battery drain? I mean when the phone tries to find a certain package and cannot it is starting to heat up and etc
I started out early in the process and I was able to get Adhell running .... Seems like maybe my battery was worse after Adhell. Wondering if you guys thought, based on this guide, I should get rid of Adhell and go more this direction (for ad blocking and app/bloatware freezing) ?

Also, using Blokada and it works well...

Good!!
Just got one l the one UI 2 beta update and looking for a pixel 4 style launcher to try the new Google gestures. I can't stand the Samsung home. Anyone know il of any yet.
Nova Launcher works great.
Lawnchair 2 is what you are looking for, exactly like my Pixel 3 XL
But none of these support the new android 10 gestures.
Action launcher is only one I know that supports the new gestures.

I just came over from a Pixel 3 and third-party launchers worked fine with native Android 10 gestures (including Lawnchair). This is a Samsung limitation.

It's a limitation of how long it takes OEMs to update. The pixel update for older devices didn't drop until the beginning of December. It's still an issue caused by Google's source, we are just waiting for the update that fixes it now.
Anyone tried Nova and One hand operation (samsung store) together?
One hand operarion may work as a replacement for google gestures. Also is useful to lock screen using a gesture

One hand and any launcher has always worked. You don't get the animation like you would on the new gestures though.
Frankly one hand has always been better but I also think a lot of people:
1. Get on the Android hype train and think "no one can do anything better than Google's implementation"
2. Are over whelmed by configuring one hand op
3. Think it's a replacement for one hand mode that makes the screen small and never bothered
4. Simply don't know about it or have good lock apps in their country
A few honorable mentions, the people that used it early on and didn't know you could make the gesture area invisible so they stopped using it and the folks that think it's too slow or not smooth.

Because it's a completely different phone...
The fix hasn't been implemented yet on Samsung phones.
You ask that as if every oem holds hands and updates their software at the same time. Or as if it wasn't broken on the first phone to have Android 10 on it..
It was certainly broken and a fixed needed to be made for it, as far as why Samsung hasn't implemented it yet? I think that is a question for Sammy.
I have used one in the past called PixelizeD it's in the theme store I'm pretty sure it works just fine on both Android 9 and 10.
It's just a theme not a launcher but it gives you a pretty nice home screen.

You need to execute this adb command:
adb shell cmd overlay enable com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.gestural
OneUI2 is disabling this feature. Not the launcher.
Third party launchers like Lawnchair only "support" the full screen gestures, but they've not properly optimized it. You will get weird animations.
Aside from installing Vanced youtube...I am not sure I need root anymore. Weird to say that as I was big into custom ROMs, root, overclocking my phones back in the day
Anyway, mostly using this to replace my aging original Tab S 10.5 which is now been used inside my PC to display CPU speeds, temps, etc.
It was lagging with EMBY and other things even with custom ROMs but I am glad I was able to find a new home for it to be useful.
Thanks for any feedback!
Same boat, I was really into root and other tweaks, now I'll get frustrated if I have to spend much time getting the experience I supposedly paid for. I actually just browse this forums in hopes of an update on next oneUI versions since they seem to have fixed some of the small caveats I find with the current version; sadly we are probably never going to get it though.
Anyway, the tab is beautiful and fast, and it will do most of the things you are expecting without losing a beat. To get the most out of it I would recommend getting the "good lock" apps to further personalize your experience (I wish someone told me about these before since I used the device for a month before finding them). The one hand operation(together with navigating gestures), the task changer(smaller more manageable app changer menu and initializing apps in floating mode from there), and the multistar(some nice tweaks to the floating mode like swiping from a to corner to start floating an that is already on screen) are the most useful in my perspective. I also downloaded an app called edge gestures to personalize my gesture experience even further, and an app called no keyboard because sometimes you just need to select/move/copy/paste text without the keyboard(even floating) to take any space on your screen.
Other nice apps I would recommend would be concepts(though still in development it is a nice vector based, layer-supporting drawing app), write 3.0 for general note taking(snappier stroke experience you'll get on android, and also vector based), and I cannot believe how much I have gotten into 3d sculpting and modeling with an app called nomad(is just so much fun even without knowing what you are doing).
I hope you have a great time with your tablet!

Than you so much for the information! Mine arrives tomorrow. I will research all the apps you mentioned.
I totally agree with Pazzu510. I use my tablet a looooooot, I use it for work and for media. I'm going to recommed you to give it a try the default samunsg apps that comes with the tablet. I LOVE the file explorer, you can syncronize one note and its just perfect. The browser is awesome too, it has a lot of configurations. I use samsung notes for my college notes, but I already tried noteshelf (very good app too, but samsung works better with the spen in my opinion. Try both and use whatever you like more) Xodo, to annotate on pdf or just open them its just a must have. It has a very good integration with the spen, onenote, etc, and you can have mutiple pdfs open.
I recommend you to set the battery limitation to 85% to protect it. And take a time and configure the energy app administration settings to bring you the best experience.
I'm very very happy with my tablet and I hope you the same!!

Thank you very much. It is on the UPS delivery truck and should be here in the next 3 hours or so. Really pumped to finally upgrade from the old S 10.5
Thanks for the tips!
The tablet is fantastic so far. Just trying to figure out which case style I prefer now. Probably will end up with like 4 cases at least.
The one disappointment was the sound...with the 4 speakers "tuned by akg" I was expecting more. My Mate 20x actually sounds better (which I know is highly regarded for sound but still). Luckily speaker usage is not crucial for me.
