Is there any mod/app to set different vibration power for:
- keypress (I know I can set vibration duration, but that's not the same)
- touch vibration
- phone/notifications vibrations?
I'm using EX Kernel. There you can control powr of vibration, but just overall power.
Thanks.

Anyone?
Textra allows for custom vibration patterns/intensities for individual contacts, if you want that ability for SMS/MMS.

Thanks, I found that. I'm looking esspecially for ring vibration control ...
I'm looking for a way to adjust the vibration Intensity too. When I have my phone on vibrate at work and someone calls it is way too strong. People keep look around every time. Also the the heptic feedback is too strong. I hope some an find a way without root would be preferable.

That's good. Will I be able to receive and install OTA updates when they are available? I tried looking for the answer to this question but did not find a clear enough answer. Also, if yes then will I lose the ES kernel when i update via OTA update? Thank you in advance.

Root is not required... an unlocked bootloader is though. That requires a device wipe which is probably not what you want to do right now. Sorry to get your hopes up.

Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate it. Just so I know for the future when I get sometime from work, will I be able to install Ota updates automatically after unlocking the bootloader and installing a kernel such as EX kernel? If yes, will the bootloader and EX kernel remain or will they be lost each time after an OTA update?

The high vibration is driving me nuts so I am going to have to install the EX kernel to decrease it. I just want to know if when a new update comes out will I lose all my date if I update via fastboot? By that I mean, I will flash to boot.img, bootloader, radio and system.img. If I will lose my date, is there a way to update without losing my date? If I have to reinstall EX kernel then I do not mind as long as I can keep my date. Thank you once again.

There are several ways to update and not lose your data. You can simply reflash the stock recovery, kernel, and system (if you modify it somehow) images and wait for the OTA. Or the quickest way to get the update would be to flash the updated factory images when they are posted at the beginning of the month. When flashing the images you can do them one-by-one skipping the userdata part or modify the flash-all script to exclude wiping of the userdata partition. If you come back after the update drops there will likely be a thread that details the process.
Since you will be unlocking the bootloader and flashing the custom kernel you might as well root to make adjusting the vibration easier. Use systemless root so you dont have to flash as many system images to take the OTA.
I suggest you read through the thread below a few times so you know how to do things. There are some things you need to avoid so you dont brick your phone. The most common one is relocking the bootloader when your phone is not completely stock. Some people have mistakenly done that because when you unlock you get this nasty warning when you bootup. There is a way to remove the warning by replacing the images. Look for the material boot images in the themes section of this board.

On the settings of SuperSU untick "Enable Superuser", then reboot and try to log in to snapchat.
If this doesn't work then got back to settings of SuperSU, and scroll down and press on "Full unroot", Reboot and log into snapchat.
If the first one works then all you need to do is enable SuperSU again and reboot, but if you have to do the second one then you'll have to re-install root.
Often TWRP will give you the option to re-install root automatically if it detects you haven't got root, if TWRP doesn't prompt installing root then you'll have to flash the zip yourself.
You can always find a guide for this.

I found the A1's camera pretty good sometimes, but the stock camera is quite useless, and no other 3rd party app seemed to be able to make good use of the camera.
Is there any way to get a good camera app, perhaps the Google camera, or the Samsung note 8 camera app?
U can't, u have to edit the build prop to enable camera HAL either it would not work.

The answer is root lol, why u don't want to root it?
There is actually no root required for editing build.prop. You unlock the bootloader, then you can boot (not flash) the TWRP and mount system with W permissions. Pull the build.prop file, edit it and push it back to its place. Then you need to set the permissions of the file through the shell. As the last thing you can relock the bootloader and have the edited build.prop file without having the root.
Google it and you will find the guide.
I tested it myself. It works.

Safer option is to use a Magisk module which does exactly the thing but without having to add the lines into build.prop manually and setting the permissions etc

Does not work. After downloading the proposed update I get installation error at the very beginning. Maybe after restoring the build.prop file the same way as I modified it, it might work.
Once you mount the system as read/write, you can't apply OTA. This is why it's better to use Magisk instead of altering system files directly.

Hey there!
I just joined XDA for the sole purpose of finding this tutorial that I have seen floating around the web lately. Do you know where I can find the exact steps to take in order to edit the build.prop without having to root my phone and without losing the OTA updates?
Cheers!

Hi,
Rajeev is right. You can edit the build.prop this way. And it is going to work. But you are gonna loose OTA, because you need to mount system with write privileges through TWRP in order to modify system file.
Is it possible to unlock the bootloader, root, make some minor modifications (activation of camera api, copying fm radio apk to system folder, etc), unroot, and finally relock (flashing stock boot.img before, of course) ?
I want to have it unrooted because of bank payments, banks apps and streaming TV apps, but I would like to have proper camera and fm radio... Is it possible??

Htf do you think miui camera is useless. I am a photographer. And find it quit usefull and makes full use dual lens. Have you even tried HHT? Never compare two different apps. HDR+ is google's algorithm. You won't get in miui camera. HHT is miui's thing. You won't get in Gcam. Anyways HDR+ is not mandatory, you can get it from any post processing app.

No way to backup.
Xperifix works only in OREO at the moment, you need to downgrade your phone with my uploaded firmware.
But after taking one shot with the camera in Oreo, you can upgrade to PIE and still use the camera.
But then, without the drmfix, the noise reduction will be deactivated.
You will get the same camera quality like on AOSP without a GCam port.

As I suspected then. Unlocking the bootloader is easy on Xperia devices, keeping drm's (with the downsides of loosing them) are not ? I'll keep it locked until there's a way to back it up or drm-fix work for this device ?

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place, but I have a question...
What if I want to use TWRP purely for backup functionality on XZ2 compact? No intention to install any custom roms yet.. no need
Is it possible to simply have TWRP only for backups? I do not even plan to root it.. is something like that possible without breaking something? Like DRM for camera etc?
Thanks.

Hello
After unlocking bootloader and flashing twrp (starting from stock 163). Are we still able to receive ota updates from sony?
It seems there is a new(er) 202 version available but if a click ond device's update-check nothing happen.
Is is possible to update via another mechanism or as from now only custon roms?
With unlocked bootloader you need to update via newflasher. You can get the firmware with Xperifirm. You'll find both tools here on xda website.

Hello,
I own a XZ2 Compact (German version) and I want to root it. Is there a way to get root access with the latest build (52.0.A.8.25)???
After hours and hours of reading, trying, flashing etc. I com to the conclusion: This is quite difficult! Maybe anyone can help me with it.
At the moment I unlocked the bootloader and 52.0.A.3.84 is the build nr.
the code
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
leads to the following message
Code:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash recovery twrp-xz2c.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (34140 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.806s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: No such partition.)
finished. total time: 0.820s
After some looking/reading I found a thread that there is only one partition in pie, is that right?
So is there a way to have a second (recovery) partition?
Thx for any help!
It's not difficult at all, just follow the instructions in this thread (3. post). Downloads are also linked there.
Works like a charme.
HI
After first Android 10 update for Xiaomi A2 Lite my phone was bricked and I had to factory reset. Since then I didn't update my phone but somehow it downloaded the latest update. So I turned off auto update from developers options. But someday ago it started overheating and became laggy even the ram management is poor now plus the bluetooth problem. After that I saw people downgrading to Android 8.1 and they said it made the phone much better. Then I thought that I should get back to Android 8.1 as well. But the problem is I never rooted my phone or any phone and never updated the phone manually. So I don't have any kind of idea about these.
Now if anyone can tell me the simplest and the best way to downgrade to Android 8.1 without any problems(Like SIM problem or anything). A video would be best. I don't want to mess up and factory reset because I don't want to lose my data again.
Thanks In Advance.
Your help is very much appreciated.
