You might not be able to use Android Pay with a custom ROM.
I think that's the deal. I do use it , before google wallet work just fine .
@dratsablive is your phone on a custom ROM??

It did work for me too, is annoying now , now the phone has to have a lock screen set up. Google Wallet had better . It does look better to the eye though
For now, there is no guaranteed way to maintain both root & use Android Pay. XDA featured an explanation on the portal that was offered by one of Google's security engineers. It's fairly straightforward, if disappointing for anyone who wants both.
Mine stop working after a day ,
I just uninstall it , I was happy cuz it was annoying having the screen lock with a pin or pattern

Yes , for now the phone is on ARHD. I've read an article the apps looks for the build number , and cloak doesn't work at all. Not even with xpose,
I do use it too . Ohh well
I like the new UI looked way more polished than wallet lol
no info/answer on this i have not tried android pay before but good to know all issues for when needed.
has anyone tried dirty flashing a stock rom setting up android pay then dirty flashing back to the wanted rom?
Hello
any 6.0 versions out there with integreated Android PAY ?
I get it to add cards by:
chmod 751 /su/bin
then
renaming xbin_bind folder
As far as working haven't tried it yet
what do you rename to the xbin_bind folder to? doesn't seem to be working for me

Anything but xbin_bind.
I'm wondering about this too. I guess in the meantime I could always get a contactless credit card and superglue it to the back of the phone. To emulate the NFC effect, I could just turn on the torch.
I've been waiting for ages for a root for A5CN701, yet no one has even tried to figure it out
I've also found a lot of posts showing how to downgrade to 5.0 but no one has made a detailed instruction and confirmed that it works!
Seriously, i've been dying for a method to root!
Anyone has any idea, please share at this topic! Much appreciated!
I'm in the same situation as you. I have been waiting for root too or the instructions how to downgrade to previous version.
This is by far the best Android tablet that I have ever used (previosly had Nexus 7 2013) and when you take it to hand and start use it you immediately feel what the quality means.

You might want to see if Kingroot can root it. (It's here on xda.) It worked on my lockdown Tracfone.

Nothing to contact - just download their .apk and run it. You need a wi-fi connection while it's trying to root.

Assuming your downloaded .apk isn't corrupted (try downloading it again), you need to install the .apk (as opposed to "running" it). I assume you tried to install it, but I'm just covering the bases. Perhaps Lolipop has a security feature that prevents Kingroot from installing? (Although Kingroot says it works w/ 5.0.) And I presume you have allowed "unknown sources" to install under Settings > Security?

Sorry to hear it didn't work. That, and the lack of ext SD, have convinced me to buy an Asus Zenpad S 8 instead. Cheaper too!
So I'd like to know how I can use Chainfire's new systemless root to then still use Android Pay. I downloaded the Android binaries from Google for the 5X and proceeded like so:
(I was already rooted with the normal method that modifies the /system parition)
1. Run flash-all.bat to flash all partitions and go back to stock.
2. Install the modified boot.img from Chainfire
3. Install the latest TWRP 2.8.7.2
4. Reboot into TWRP
5. Install using adb sideload from TWRP the beta SuperSU
6. Reboot into phone and set it up... restore Titanium Backups...
The problem is that Android Pay still won't let me add a card to it....
Did I do something wrong in this process here?
Would love it if someone who has done this could help me out here..
Thanks!

Did you hide/disable/uninstall supersu and reboot before opening the Android pay app?
If not, do that, and clear app data for Android pay. Then try to set it up.
Android pay and root don't work. If you want Android Pay to work, you need to disable root anytime you want to use it and even then it may not work.

Systemless root does work with Android Pay when root is on. At the very least, you should be able to add cards. Which means you should be able to use pay in general. Safetynet checks in Pay are not that strict.
Did you flash TWRP and boot into recovery or did you boot it from fastboot USB?
Have you tried simply putting the zip on the device and flashing it from there?
Did you let TWRP install SU/Root in the prompt before rebooting? (The answer should be no)

To answer,
You can read exactly what I did above. I did not let TWRP install SU for me, and rebooted using the power button I believe after installing the Beta SU from TWRP's ADB sideload..
I'll try again tonight as I KNOW Android Pay DOES work with the new Systemless Root, I just haven't gotten it right on my first try here.
Thanks.

Have you tried doing Android Pay before restoring stuff from Titanium Backups? There is a slim possibility that it may be altering something from system, making it fail the safetynet checks.
I would try flashing the zip from TWRP instead of sideloading as well. Just in case.

Uh... how exactly can you know something "DOES" work if your one and only attempt at making it work was a complete failure and no one else has been able to get it to work?
Not saying Android Pay can't work with systemless route in one form or another. But to make a statement as if something is of fact when you've proven nothing to support that fact is a bit idiotic.
But hey, people said Einstein and Tesla had idiotic ideas. So here's to hoping.

Right at the bottom: http://www.xda-developers.com/chainfire-releases-root-for-android-6-0-without-modifying-system/
Update: Reddit user MajorNoodles has informed that Android Pay works on his Nexus 5. Chainfire, on his Google+ post, does mention that the working of Android Pay is by accident and not by design. He expects Android Pay to be updated in the future to counteract this.

Unless that hole has been patched already, it should still work, but we won't know for how long.
@chickentech I'm not in much of a position to help, given my location, but this might help you debug whether it is Pay being weird or if SafetyNet is tripped: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cigital.safetynetplayground

I said I knew because I actually READ.. As you have.
Probably something to do with the order I'm doing things in.. Or as mentioned, the Titanium backup could definitely do it..
You know, I wouldn't even Root if there was a good way to block ads without - but most of what I've seen isn't quite there for me.

If you're rooting to modify the hosts file to block ads.... that changes system, and will trip Android Pay's SafetyNet checks. The best adblocking I can get without changing System is Adblock Plus for Android. (Root on ABP seems to only allow some sort of localhost proxy network rerouting instead)
FYI Safetynet Playground trips for me, but Android Pay works just fine.
UPDATE: Weird, now I pass, must be because I recently re-encrypted my phone.
So now it's confirmed, I can use Android Pay and not trip SafetyNet API. Neato.
Thanks! That hosts file was it.. A fresh install and I'm gold with Safetynet Many thanks all around!
You're very welcome!
Right now I'm using adblock plus + a "patcher" that's pretty "lucky" heh.

well i think i'll wait till someone manage to root zvi .. XD
just received the ZVI update this morning. On one hand, I guess I should be pleased that LG cares just enough to keep updating this old device with security improvements and updates. After Toting back to ZVE and updating to ZVH, my GPS seems to be working finally. Was flaky to non functional since I got it(refurb from Freedompop) on ZVG.
However, it;s a pain in the butt to restore the firmware back to ZVE and lose root.
Please let us know if you figure out how to get root back on ZVI and thanks again
Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the OTA update nag message or prevent the download of the update.zip file? Is there an APK I can freeze using Titanium Backup? Most annoying thing about the OTA update is that it doesn;t seem to care if you are on wifi or mobile data when it downloads/redownloads(which it will do infinitely).
It seems that ZVI non-rootable for now Shame! Security fix from 01-11-2015, so they fix holes in system = no-root. Back to ZVH, or cm13...

Sorry to hear all of you weren't able to achieve root with the new update using the older method. I'm glad I stopped by here to do some reading before I updated. I was going to TOT back this weekend and take ZVI. Root is a must since I use the hotspot mod so ZVI is gonna hate to wait.
Hopefully someone will figure out a way around the newest security patch soon.
Need a little help disabling the ZVI OTA notification. I've tried several older methods but none have worked. I've selected the install later option but as you all know, the notification persists in the drop down menu. If possible, I would like to do away with it entirely until a method of rooting ZVI is created. Any info on disabling the notification would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks for reply. That is the exact thing I meant when i called myself noob. My build is p1a_42_s137_151028_ROW. I did mentioned I got confused though I know this is not a new topic. There is a bootloader lock on the phone. Applications is useless. The bootloader must first be unlocked, or root application must be installed on the rom. The best solution for you is to unlock the bootloader lock and install twrp. Please see the following page:

It probably works with the qfil file of your same rom. You need to add and flash bootloader files into the same rom(data can be deleted). ROM version is not important for the bootloader file. If the process is successful, you can install twrp and supersu.zip
