When I throw my recent apps in trash using recent app button. All my push notifications stops notifying me on those apps that were running in background. Power consumption alert, Permissions, Data usage and Power usage details have all been properly set. Any suggestion on why apps aren't continuing to run in back ground? Didn't have this problem on my s9 plus...

Hi guys
I recently discovered that hold back to kill will completely remove the app from memory (not in cached processes) and so apps like Dice with Buddies will not get C2DM notifications (I know it's GCM now). However if I just do a force stop on the "push service" then the notifications work well. if there are no other good options it would be good to have an app that just sits on my home screen that, when run, would just programmatically do a force stop on a set of services.
You guys know of any such thing?
Thanks!
I'm using Sultan's CM13 and new to using Greenify as I just bought the donation package but have some questions that I'm not sure about.
1. I have instant messaging apps (Whatsapp and WeChat) and games on my phone, when I finish using the app, I press the home button and have them running in the background, does that uses more battery or do I need to add the apps to the hibernation list?
2. Should I use hibernate or shallow hibernation as I switched from iPhone to OnePlus 3 and on the iPhone when I reopen the app, it will return to where I left it.
3. I have enabled aggressive doze so that it will go to sleep mode when the screen is off, will I get delay Whatsapp and Wechat messages or do I need to add it to the whitelist so notifications comes instantly when I receive them?
Many thanks!
Got my oneplus yesterday finally after 11 days from ordering.
One thing that is annoying me is on my old phone which was a htc one m7 I use to be able to hold down the back button to kill the app. This means it wouldn't even show on my recent apps menu
On 5t I went into the button setting but there is no option to kill an app while holding the back button.
Is there another way ?
I use gravity box but it requires Xposed
Why would you want to kill apps? Killing apps means if you want to re launch the app it will start from beginning costing you extra cpu power. Anyway if you don't want to root you can control your background activity on the developer settings

For me, it's just nice to have when an app is misbehaving. It's quicker than going into the app info and force stopping it from there. Sometimes my WhatsApp gets disconnected from WhatsApp web on my laptop; a force close of the app tends to fix the issue, and having a long press shortcut seems to be the quickest/most efficient way to do so
Hi there
Sometimes when I receive an email the notification will not show up on the phone, that is no sound and no led notification.
However as soon as I press the power button or unlock the screen the notification will pop up.
It is almost as if the device goes to sleep state when screen is turned off.
The emails that I miss at times due to this problem are time sensitive and really important for my work.
Such delays are at times resulting in direct monetary loss.
This was never an issue on my Galaxy Note 3 from which I have upgraded.
Can anyone of you guide and assist me as to which settings need to be changed to get it to work properly.
Many thanks for your time.
I have a simmilar issue here. Some notifications show up normally, like mail and facebook, but other apps only show notifications if i have they are opened.
It's like the system is forcing close those apps.

Still haven't found any solution.
Things I have tried :
1. Going to Power Master > Battery Mode > Balance
Thinking that in other modes it would kill background apps to save power.
2. Went to Power Master > Autostart Manager > Added apps I need notifications to start on system startup.
Apart from the mentioned problem, I see another one.
I opened What's app notification setting and turned Group Notifications off and Message notifications are set to show silently and minimize.
However the app itself changes the setting and forces messages on screen by itself over riding my changes. Have been happening since a long time now no matter how many times I change the settings.
Update if you can find any resolution.
I have tried to root and use UPSM manager to add app to power saving mode. When I choose apps and click save, it said saved successfully but when I restart and go into power saving mode, I cannot see all what I have chosen, still the limited default apps shown and I still have to choose again which app I want to use and I cannot add more than what they allow there. (If you want to add more, you will have to remove the current in the list and get space for new one )
Is there any other solution that works ? Thank you !
Maybe bixby routines?
how will I add app in bixby routines and will that still work in Maximum Power Saving mode in note 10+ ?
I don't let bixby run, lol read it's eula.
Just know from what I see here that's it's pretty capable.
There's also the Macrodroid app, it may be able to do that.
You know that going into max power saving mode really screws up the display settings when you come out of it? It does on my version, that glitch may have been corrected.
I checked Macrodroid and looks like it is an app for automation. Still cant figure out how that will be able to serve my purpose to add more app in power saving mode ?
(If power saving mode could help me to save battery while I still can use all the most frequent apps I need, then I don't bother coming out of it, and so the display etc.)
You want a custom app list for the power saving mode.
Both Bixby and Macroandriod are for setting up routines. Both use a fair amount of battery.
Beyond that the other issue may be dependencies that the apps you want to run need apks that are deliberately shutdown to conserve power in the maximum power savings mode.
That's one reason it can save power so well.
Specifically what app(s) do you want to run?
I want at least these app:
- Whatsapp
- Messenger
- Covid tracing app (for entrance)
- Bus timing
- Outlook
- Camera
- Home camera
- And if possible: Spotify, and one or 2 apps more also for working.

It's not happening is my opinion. You got a bunch of apps that are constantly polling the internet.
I won't even let WhatsApp on my devices. As for Covid, I'm in Texas and we're already over that junk.
Maximum power savings mode means minimum functionality. A major reason you're chewing up so much power are the social apps running in the background. I have none on my phone; if I can't use a site through the browser, I won't use it.
FB, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc are all data miners and not to be trusted.
My SOT ranges from 7-13%@hr in Optimized power setting. >.5%@hr at night with tap on AOD with phone/internet connected on my N10+'s.
These devices are also heavily optimized so it's more than just not having the social media apps.
I tried power saving with all these apps mentioned above (when I need some app I just use edit button then edit and remove one app to get space for other app in power saving mode) and I have my phone lasting from 8am to mid night. So good enough for me I believe. Now I only need a way that I do not need to remove, add them
Any body has a solution?
