Hello everyone!
Recently i cracked the screen glass on my 5X. Normally it's not a very bothersome crack, but it goes right through the middle of the camera and makes it practically useless, so i'm planning on replacing the screen assembly, probably ordering it from aliexpress. Do any of you know of a certain "brand" i should be avoiding? Any feedback on the subject is appreciated!
I just bought mine yesterday on amazon, take a look

So I dropped my phone, screen cracked. Pretty upset about it considering it was only dropped from about a foot.
Anyway, looking for repair options. I have insurance and heard LG is another way to go but looking for a different option.
My screen is cracked, digitizer responsed only where their is no cracks, LCD is fine.
Looking up repair places, they want to replace the whole assembly LCD/Screen, so my question
how difficult is replacing just the screen? i'd say I do pretty well at DIY
anyone have a good repair person who just does the screen or anyone will to sell your services to me?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
I replace my wife's G3 screen that was very damaged from the impact, I bought the part on ebay for $107 about two months ago, I replaced the screen, no to hard to do.
dropped it and the screen broke into a million pieces (again, the gorilla glass is not particularly tough).
i'm considering trying to fix it myself, and found a screen replacement on a site called vifocal
does anyone know anything about the company, or have experience buying replacement screens like this?
thanks
A friend of mine bought in China through Ebay, a screen with the digitizer to World Tradin or something like that, it cost about $ 50.
We did the screen replacement following a guide in iFixit, it was for replace the motherboard, but you can us it and when you reach the screen, it is removed after taking off the plastic frame that holds it (with care, it's fragile ). Double sided tape is needed to attach the new screen.
In YouTube you can find a guide for the screen replacement for Find 5 which can be used for reference.
It is easier than it looks.
Good luck. :good:
hello guys! yesterday the inevitable happened, and my phone fell off. since i can't make a photo of it, i'll put another one that looks similar.

my question is, what needs to be replaced now? the whole display or only the glass? cause the whole display is a lot more expensive than the glass, and maybe i can save some money.
thanks!

Looks like just the glass. However, the glass is glued to the LCD, and I believe you need to heat it to soften the glue and pull the glass off (which can also result in breaking the LCD). Then glue the new glass to the LCD. None of which is that easy.
I tend not to be very successful with these types of repairs, and haven't personally tried it. So maybe others can speak more in terms of first-hand experience.
Send it to HTC. It cost me less for HTC to repair than it would have cost for me to buy the parts alone.
They replaced the screen, digitizer, housing, speaker covers, back cover all for £103 including 2 way shipping.
Less than 2 weeks for repair and good as new when it came back.
Hi there everyone,
I bought my Nexus 5X with a cracked screen off eBay when I got it. I lived with it until a side drop cracked it further today, and it's now much more noticeable than before. However, it's just the glass that's cracked - from what I can tell, the LCD and digitizer are completely unscathed. So I thought, hey, it'll be tricky, but I bet I could separate the parts and just use a glass replacement like this. The entire assembly is five times more expensive.
Now, obviously I don't want my daily driver to become a piece of plastic on a shelf. I have access to heat guns and spudgers, but no experience with a repair like this. Has anyone done this? Do you have any advice? Are they three separate layers that I'll be able to clean and readhere? Thanks in advance!
Hey guys, good day.
My HTC Desire Eye screen cracked (I accidentally dropped it) and it really looks horrible. I am planning to replace the screen myself, and I am asking if anyone repaired their phone by themselves as well. I'll be buying the parts needed in eBay. I am also wondering if I can only replace the glass and not with the LCD? The LCD screen still looks impeccable despite the cracked glass and touch works perfectly. However, I am yet to find a tutorial that shows replacement of the glass module only.
Thank you very much in advance.

U can find tutorial on YouTube. And yes you have to replace entire screen not just the glass.
My advice is get it replaced from a expert. It doesn't cost much. Also buy original screen don't get a bad one.
