Edit: Solved after OTA update[Rapid battery discharge after Full Charge] - Asus Zenfone 5Z Questions & Answers

Hi, my 5z handset battery discharges rapidly from 100% to 75% (more than 1% per minute when I the screen is on) and then slows down the rate of discharge. I am facing this issue even with no apps working in the background. Have observed this phenomenon in almost all charging cycles. Then screen on time (SOT) I'm getting ranges between 4-5 hours, with no gaming but continuous browsing.
Have anybody faced such an issue? Is it the battery that's having an issue or software? Please let me know. Thanks.

Yep me too facing..100 to 85...though it looks like a common issue..only update can fix it..

Battery discharge while off

Has anyone else had a problem where the DZ battery discharges while the device is switched off? I have twice had the problem now where I charge up before turning off for the night, then when I switch on again in the morning it is only half charged.
I am going to try removing the battery overnight to see if I still get the same effect, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
I definitely shouldn't be discharging overnight. But more likely I would think would be the battery being faulty, and just not holding charge.
However, I wonder if it's a battery calibration issue. i.e. when the phone is on, the ROM *thinks* it's fully charged or whatever. But then when it's powered off and left for a while, when next booted the ROM looks again and decides something else ?
Has the battery meter has been properly calibrated? Charge it to 100%, then let it drain to about 30%. Repeat a couple times, so the battery meter actually knows what voltages correspond to "full" and "empty".
Also, somebody posted on here recently, about his G2/DZ having bad power drain while the screen was off. He exchanged the phone, and the new one was fine.

I am still experiencing this problem, and I am getting slightly concerned if I am the only one. I have now had the battery discharge significantly overnight when the device is off on a number of occasions (it was fully charged last night & 8% when I turned on this morning). This has occurred with 2 different batteries, and DOESN'T occur when I take the battery out of the device overnight. I therefore deduce it is the DZ and not the battery that has the problem.
Is there any process which continues to run when the device is powered off? Is there an internal clock (for example) which continues to use power?
I have overclocked the DZ, but I can't recall whether I encountered the problem before that or not.
Has no-one else had this problem?
well I get a discharge overnight I thought everyone did due 2 the signal? I put my phone on airplane mode and fixes the problem... 1% or 2% usage at a max overnight

battery drain normal until 30%

I've been experiencing this issue for awhile now on multiple Roms after multiple charge cycle.
Battery drain is consistent and expected until around 30%. Then the battery drains to 0 in 90 minutes or less.
Anyone with similar issue or thoughts?
Do I need to replace my battery? I've been seeing this for probably 4-6 weeks.
Yeah, I have the same problem. I think it means that your battery is not calibrated properly.
It's either not calibrated properly (meaning charge it 100% and go into the boot menu->advanced->erase battery stats) to recablirate and or you have gone past the 100 charge cycles a battery phones stays optimal. Depending on use you may need it

[Q] Plz Help!! Battery issue (fixed for now)

I bought G Pro day before yesterday. The device is amazing and i love it but i have got a small problem. First day i charged battery to 100% and i got a day usage with 25% of brightness set with screen on time for about a little less than 4 hours which is amazing. Yesterday i had to charge phone twice because the battery depleted within 2 hours on screen time and moderate usage like calls n text (no gaming). Today morning 80% power was left of second charge. I went to college and and did not use the phone much but battery got completely depleted within 1 hour of screen on time at 50% brightness. When i came home back i charged the phone to 100%, when i disconnected charger from phone the charge dropped immediately to 98%. After 3 mins it fell to 93% and now is depleting fast. there is no apps running in background or anything and no apps showing up in battery stats that may be depleting battery. Any solutions to this? can it be faulty battery? Plz Help!!!
Edited: viber or whatsapp was causing this battery drain. I rooted my phone n installed greenify. Hibernating all user apps fixed the battery drain. If anyone has battery drain issue may try this solution.

[Q] Severe Battery issue with galaxy SIII.

I am facing a severe issue with the battery of my samsung galaxy SIII which i have purchased in june-12.
Sometime battery of my phone is charged very quickly( max 1 hour) & then it will discharge very quickly(max 2 hours) too. Battery will completely discharge from 100% to 0%(in 2-3 hours).
This problem occurs once in 10 time.
I have observed, When my phone battery start charging very fast, from 10% to 85% in just 20-30 minutes.
i disconnect the charger, Restart the phone & it is showing only 12% battery remaining.
It means phone was not charging just the battery percentage is going up.
this problem comes to me at least once in week. and i have to charge my phone 4 times a day.
Normally, I can use my phone battery for full day once fully charged.
So, it doesn't seems to be a battery issue.
Please have a look in the issue & guide me how to proceed.

The Battery Drastically Drained in seconds!

Hi guys. Im new here. I just wanna share about my Z1 compact latest battery problem kinda frustrated me lately.
I bought the phone 2-3 months ago, already with Android Lollipop 5.0.2. Since the purchase, I didnt really face a problem with the battery life as it lasted about 12 hours per charge due to my heavy usage of the phone.
But a few days lately, my phone being worrying me as the battery doesnt being as normal as always. For example, it can drain the battery drastically from 88% to 67% in a few seconds when the screen is off (in standby mode). Sometimes, in the middle of the usagefrom 39%, the phone suddenly shows the battery low warning with a 1% battery remaining, and without having enough time to reach the charger, it shuts down by itself.
In rare cases, I caught my phone drained the battery drastically when the screen is still on from 15% to 1% less in a minute.
The phone wasnt rooted and I didnt anything else besides my daily normal usage. The latest apps I downloaded before the problem occurred is Waze.
I tried everything to save the battery like using the Stamina Mode, force stops some apps, slides away all of the running apps in the background but failed. I even factory reset my phone and installed all the apps the way it used to be but still didnt solved the problem.
I still have about 8 monts of Sony warranty but I need you guys help first because I need to use my phone for work right now. Please help and reply.
Thank you. *Sorry if my English isnt that good*
When the battery jumps from 39% to 1%... Does it stay a long time at 39%? Or from 39 to 1 in few minutes?
Just curious...
Sounds like a warranty issue to me. You could try to find out what is causing heavy drain like with BetterBatteryStats. But no app ever should cause such drains.
Sound more like your battery is not okay.

The exactly same problem with me .I have 100% battery and indicator stays 100% for a half hour than drastically drains to 1% and shuts down.
Change your battery! I had the same Problem. I changed my battery with anotherone original from Sony, but a few weeks later the same Problem: quickly battery drain.
So I ordered me a battery from e-bay but NOT one from Sony! Now a few weeks later still NO Problems. Everything runs Ok now. NO battery drain at all.
