According to this website, an update is being released now to add full-screen navigation gestures for the Honor 8X / 8X Max. I haven't had it yet in the UK. Has anyone else?

The only update that matters right now for this phone is EIS
Honor just give the usual canned responses when they are asked about it.
This issue ruins an otherwise great value phone.
Currently on October security patch with gesture navigation. JSN-L22 (4gb/128gb Asia Pacific version)
My JSN-L21 in UK is still on 101 with September Android Security Patch and no full-screen navigation gestures.
Come on Huawei!

Hey guys! This is my first Chinese phone that I've had. Got it imported all the way from China to Europe. My question is rather simple...Do I get OTA updates on a Chinese version of the phone even if I am located in Europe? Is there any time difference in updates on a Chinese version versus the International one? I've been wondering because as of right now I am unable to use third party launchers, but Huawei said they would release an update to allow just that.

Does anyone have an idea on how long Huawei will keep updating the phone? I'd like to keep the phone for at least 3 years and would hate for it to not get security updates and the latest version of EMUI

The updates depend solely on the Company that made the device & Google & if the company chooses to continue updates for that specific device, major companies usually guarantee 2 major Android OS updates as well as all the small path updates that they release for that device within the 2 year period for there high-end flagship devices & it's very popular mid-range devices, sometimes a company will decide to give certain special high-end devices or very popular mid-range devices 3 major updates spanding at 3 year & all the small security patch updates within that 3 year period but it is very rare, unfortunately Huawei has not been known for it's speedy updates, they are usually slower than Samsung but the company has made major changes the last few years & the quality of their devices has improved tremendously & now it flagship Mate 20 line comes with the latest Android version pre-installed & to my knowledge this a first for Huawei so hopefully they will focus more on updates.

I'm not sure if this is accurate b/c I didn't get updates for my Huawei Honor Note 8 in the US, the Honor Note 8 was only released in china, now the US is one of several countries that has a ban on all Huawei products so I don't if that has something to do with it.
I have the Huawei Mate 20 X EVR-L29 the c636 Asian international model & I did get a security patch update a day after I got the phone, I was shocked to get that update b/c as far as I have read Huawei phones & tablets will not receive updates in the US, I don't know if the update was something that was already received when it was in the factory before it was boxed & sold, Idk if each device is connected to WiFi before it's boxed or if the device actually got an OTA update in the US, I'm really hoping for the latter of the two but I'm not sure.

1 - Chinese ROM get updates very often and faster
2 - More stable
3 - Faster than the Global
Downside : Bloatware Apk's... This could be easily resolved by TWRP, Flash Root, Remove all the Bloatware.
Unfortunately, we have to wait for TWRP and Root for the Mate 20 X ...

I was however able to delete all of the bloatware using adb commands, so it requires no root or TWRP. Pretty simple to do actually.

Hey everyone! ?
In this thread I will update you on anything related to EMUI 10 based on Android 10 Q for the P20 lite.
I've found some interesting information regarding Android Q on the P20 lite. I've attached a screenshot of something I keep on getting when I open HiCare. This is in Dutch, but I will translate it for you. It says:
5 promises for carefree use
1. Use apps
2. Update apps
3. Security updates
4. Service
5. Android Q
This is already a good start, but we don't know if this message is just to the general Huawei smartphones, or the P20 lite.
UPDATE 1 - JULY 12TH 2019: Huawei is ready to show its EMUI 10 based on Android Q next month. This might mean earlier release for the current devices, which will result in more time being left for older / budget devices.
Source
UPDATE 2 - JULY 15TH 2019: Today Huawei Central has released a topic talking about what phones will get the EMUI 10. The P20 lite is listed here too, but it is on the list of devices that will probably get it, so not the list of the devices that will get it.
Source
UPDATE 3 - SEPTEMBER 17TH 2019: Great news! We just got an official confirmation that our device will get Android 10 in March 2020.
Source
UPDATE 3.1 - OCTOBER 8TH 2019: The P20 lite is removed from the list on source 3. This doesn't mean it won't come, but keep it in mind.
UPDATE 4 - NOVEMBER 7TH 2019: We are getting EMUI 10 in March 2020. You can copy the link into google translate and select Romainian to your own language. Source
UPDATE 5 - NOVEMBER 27TH 2019: Huawei is not releasing Android 10 for the P20 lite. @ZoufalyP thanks for mentioning
Source
UPDATE 6 - JANUARY 19TH 2020: Some more proof that they won't be releasing it for the P20 lite.
Source
Thanks @CristianLN and @Inf1n1te for mentioning
UPDATE 7 - JANUARY 21ST 2020: Huawei has officially announced the list of devices getting EMUI 10, with the P20 lite not being listed. If you really want Android 10, you might want to look into custom roms, but know that Huawei's bootloaders are almost impossible to unlock.
Source
UPDATE 8 - FEBRUARY 10TH 2020: Instead of monthly updates, the P20 lite will now get updates every quarter. This probably means that there will be no EMUI 10 like they said earlier.
Source
UPDATE 9 - FEBRUARY 13TH 2020: Bad news. Very bad news. The P20 lite won't get any updates anymore, not even security ones. No EMUI 10 for us. I thought all Android phones should get at least 2 years of updates. Huawei's decision might make their current status even worse...
Source
Ofcourse, the P20 lite isn't €200-€300 like Huawei's previous lite series, it was €400 at launch, so there is a bigger chance of them releasing it for us. I can't confirm anything about this since it's really early and the Android Q hasn't launched a stable version, so take this with a grain of salt.
If you have any questions about EMUI 9.1, please ask them on this thread from @ars_chelsea, there are tons of people helping you there. Here's the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/how-to/android-pie-update-status-huawei-t3836567 - Also, please let me know about any updates of EMUI 10 by commenting on the main post or sending me a dm so I can add it to the main post.
If this comes out, this might come next year or even more, you saw how long it took for pie to come out.

1. Yes, open HiCare and click updates. It should be available there.
2. Normally they gave 1 update for every lite phone, but this one cost more at launch then the normal ones from Huawei. That's also a bigger chance of them releasing it, but it will probably come later.

Are you sure? It should be out for all devices by now. You just have to open the HiCare application in your device and look for update section. Rollback is an option which HiSuite has on computers AFAIK.

For everyone it will come, originally it would release in the end of July, but some people like me already got it in May. If you still can't update in the end of this month, you should contact Huawei about it. And no, a VPN won't help you, because it looks at the IMEI number. Also, it's only available for the ANE-LX1 and some ANE-LX3 models I think.
Hi everyone
This thread leads to Android Q status
My thread leads to any updates on Android Pie which is already released globally, but "released/launched" means that the OTA's have started to Roll out in phases, on some countries it will be slower and for some Single SIM devices and most of the carrier locked ones will have the pie update a bit later just like any other update they had in the past.
Link to thread:

Yeah, it's kinda weird that we only get 1 year, but for a budget phone this is very good compared to others from that time, so they probably lowered software support. I will still keep the thread open incase Huawei decides to change things.

Like i said before very strange, that there are no new security patches in this update. Maybe because we also get EMUI 10 beta soon with new security patches?
https://piunikaweb.com/2019/10/14/h...rope-mate-20-x-update-improves-sound-effects/
Also receiving a new software update is the Mate 20 X, but unlike the Mate 20 Pro, the former’s is a stable update based on EMUI 9.1.0. Yeah, the base software is still Android 9 Pie, but the European (global) EMUI 10 beta update shouldn’t be too far away.
As part of the small update that weighs in at a mere 2.77MB, the Mate 20 X is receiving improvements to sound effects in certain scenarios. Interestingly, the Mate 20 X update is still bundled with August security patches, which is strange arriving in mid-October. is still bundled with August security patches, which is strange arriving in mid-October.

Let me clear a few things.
Sony doesn't change anything between each update, the second firmware fix some bugs that might be there and that's all.
All next updates are security updates until next major android build.
Oh and Android R won't bring anything new.

Sony doesn't change anything between each update, the second firmware fix some bugs that might be there and that's all.
All next updates are security updates until next major android build.
Oh and Android R won't bring anything new.

.88 firmware brought RAW support in Photo Pro app. So, there is new stuf, but Sony doesn't say it in changelog. That is why we ask What is new in each firmware update every month.

yeah Russia generic and O2 UK firmware has it now - UK generic, and EU generic do not.
I got UK generic update last night
It's really incredible to me that Sony still does not provide a change log. For my last few flagship phones I switched to OnePlus and got spoiled by the rapid iteration detailed changelogs and high consumer touch of a scrappy startup-minded manufacturer.
I really looked forward to getting the Xperia 1ii but have been completely disappointed in almost everything.
I received this update last night in the United States. Weeks after other regions had already received it still no one has any idea of what changed on our devices.

Background noise in video is still there. I think it'll never be fixed.
Software build number
Xperia® 1 II: 58.0.A.3.132
This system software update features
Android™ security patch level: 1st Agosto 2020
Exactly, nothing has changed. It's a security patch. You won't see any major changes until 11 is released by Sony

What did you think of One Plus, sorry for the off topic. I was considering the One Plus 8 Pro but went with the Sony instead. I'm satisfied with this phone but interested in people's opinions on the One Plus performance, skin etc

Can I ask how you know it's just a security update? I have several Sony Android based TVs that they pushed updates down to with no release notes that also included version increments for included apps.
I loved both the OnePlus flagships I had I had a 16 McLaren edition and a 7 Pro. The 7 Pro was just fantastic updates came out constantly with new features. I guess the only reason I didn't continue to buy OnePlus was I was frustrated that they got rid of the mechanical front-facing camera which made the display on the 7 Pro simply amazing.
OnePlus forums are very active lots of knowledgeable people and plenty of opportunities to sign up for beta features or releases.

Been using Sony phones since '08. Version number changes are more pronounced when there are significant changes. Sony never publishes change logs which is ridiculous but it won't change. Size is indicative as well. I think the file was 170mb or so, not really large enough to carry anything substantial.
It seems that the jpg rendering in the Photo Pro app for the wide angle lens has changed. It used to be different from the result in the normal photo app, but now looks the same.
XQ-AT52 from HK Is still on 3.88 ...... :'(
Security patch
I think it's a security patch, I hope they fix the screen mirroring issue, it won't play picture only shows background and plays audio. Same with usbc to hdmi adapter
Do Sony keep the security updates close to Google's? My job requirements is that they are running 3 months old security patches. My OnePlus 7 pro have been updated regularly as part of their beta program. It's been a while since I have a Sony, I think it's time to jump off the OnePlus for me.
I saw that samsung released an update the other day. I have a sprint phone but I'm using an unlocked version firmware. I still haven't received anything?
That wasn't for the note 10 series.
OneUI 2.5 will be released to earlier Note phones after the Note 20 and Fold 2 are released.
Pretty much the Galaxy S, Note, and A serie will get the update. Also at least the Tab S5e, S6, and S7 will also get it it.

Ah ok I read somewhere the other day it was already rolling out to the 10's but they're was less features than the 20
Sammobile is pretty reliable. I haven't seen or heard anything about OneUI 2.5 being released before the Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2.
There may be some beta versions running around in the wild, but not the official version.

Some apps have been released, like Samsung Notes, that have One UI 2.5 features, this available on Galaxy store for Note 10/10+,9 and 8.
It may be you have glanced at one such article and misunderstood..

It is already out for the international exynos versions, I checked frija for an update to U1 versions but so far no luck.
It's rolling out in Germany now. The whole ui feels so much more smother now!

Only in select regions for now.
Received it yesterday on my Note 10+ with the 1st of September security patch...
If you are using gcam don't update on 2.5...samsung locked RAW on front cam for other apps...so no gcam on UI 2.5
Haven't received yet in the middle east
I flashed it on my Note 10 Plus a couple of days ago and it works very well.
