All of a sudden Netflix just won't launch. I've tried various things like uninstall/reinstall, clear data, multiple reboots, even tried an old fix from years ago for the gen 1 box, but it just immediately crashes when I try to open it.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Netflix works fine on my 2 other gen 1 AFTVs.
I've been having this issue with Netflix however today it refused to open no matter what I tried, I started uninstalling old apps to free up some more space beyond the 1GB free I had, This seems to have resolved the issue for me, However before I done that I contacted amazon, Who have agree'd to refund the product as the no longer make them, and the replacement is not avaible untill Novemeber.

A&E, Lifetime and The History channel apps wont work on my fire tv. They open and close in a few seconds or wont even open at all. I know they are all A&E television network apps. Any ideas why only these three apps wont work? I have all the latest updates, just at a loss why only these apps wont work.

These apps appeared in the appstore for 1 day a month ago and then quickly disappeared. They returned last week with the message "Fixes freezing issues on the Kindle Fire TV". So it just seems these apps are not coded well and are prone to issues.
The one thing to try is to force quit all apps and restart your Fire TV. Then launch one of the A&E apps and see if that works for you.
A&E App crashing on FireTV
I am having the exact same problem. My issue arises only after I put my credentials in to validate my account. The app properly starts without the activation. Once activation is sent it does the continuous loop like described above. Rebooting FTV and launches does not work with this app. if I clear data & cache and reactivate it launches just the first time. Once you exit the app you are back to the same issue !!
Amazon Underground App would just scan forever under CLOUD section on the Zenfone2, none of my previously acquired apps would show up.
Not just on Zenfone 2, it happens on almost every device randomly. (Even Amazon's own Kindle too sometimes). It's not the problem of our phone, but on the Amazon side. I dont have any solution for this but by Googling some can solve it by letting it load and sync for a few times. Yes its long time but some reports that it worked
on my rooted ftv 5.0.4, netflix menu/selection it looks almost like scrambled...shows play fine but its hard to pick anything... i tried deleting the cache/data/reinstalling/rebooting/ and nothing.. even installing the latest apk from google and nothing
any ideas?
I have the same issue with the Netflix menus on FireTV 2 rooted 5.0.5. Repeating patterns of bitmap graphic segments and portions of photos are scrambled over the program selection menus as well as the progress bar overlay during pause and fast forward. Video playback is fine, so I gave up after spending a couple hours trying various methods to fix it. For me, this issue seemed to happen independently of any Amazon OS or Netflix updates. The same Netflix version previously worked fine on both 5.0.4 and 5.0.5.
Repair methods attempted:
Cleared data and cache - same result
Uninstalled and reinstalled latest FireTV version of Netflix - same result
Installed older as well as newer versions of Netflix for AndroidTV - same result; every version appeared exactly identical to the FireTV version
Installed Android phone version of Netflix - works properly, but is awkward to use and seems to use a completely seperate set of files from the TV version
i havent tried netflix for full android but i tried everything u did too and we are on the same boat...
here is a link for more individuals having same issue...

either update to newer OS or install older Netflix.apk (though it will autoupdate?!)
I have the same problem-- scrambled menu on Netflix. It's the only streaming service that scrambles (and it only does it on TV, not on my phone or laptop). Furthermore, it began when I had Time-Warner/Spectrum, but this month I switched to Verizon/Fios and it is still scrambling. Netflix is the only constant here, so it has to be a Netflix problem. I've tried all the solutions mentioned above, and it still scrambles-- usually the menu, but sometimes also the show I start playing. When I called Netflix, the asked me -- get this!-- to list the channels it happens to. My reply was to ask them if they knew how much work that would involve-- they have hundreds if not thousands of programs-- and that, furthermore, I wouldn't do that if they paid me. I'm a customer, not tech support. (Sorry not to be of any help in solving the problem; just adding to the chorus.)

When I was using 5.05 I used "netflix-4.16-200217-FromNetflix.apk" that come from Netflix.

The new 5.2.6.0 update was pushed out to my FireTV on Saturday morning and I've been unable to run YouTube, PBS, NBC, and Amazon Prime programming since then. All my paid apps are running fine so far - Hulu, Netflix, HBO Now - but when I try to load anything from the free apps, I get kicked back a screen or two and nothing loads.
I have one of the original Fire TV boxes as I bought it in April 2014 and it's worked great since I bought it. I was on the phone for over an hour yesterday trying to get some help from their techs but nothing worked including a complete factory reset. Something in this update is blocking access to my free apps programming.
I understand that I'm supposed to be seeing more advertising but that's missing too. I was told at the end of my tech support conversation to buy another box because the warranty has obviously run out, but of course, they stopped selling the boxes several weeks ago and I'm stuck with a box that only works for half of what we used to watch.
Any suggestions for my next step? TIA!

I'm not from the US, but I'm pretty this is sounding like some sort of cache bug.
Try going to each individual app in settings and clearing cache and data; if this doesn't solve it, then I would remove the app and reinstall it.
If this doesn't work, I'd try deregistering your Amazon account in settings with the applications stated removed; then registering again, this may refresh the app store's data.
Lastly, try a factory reset of the Fire TV; this is a last resort.
Ok so i have same issues the main one being allcast i cannot stream to tv from phone or kindle hd the firestick just tells me to install allcast on firestick... i have also factory reset and still the same issues telling me to install the app... tryed on my old firestick not updated to 5.2.6.0 and all app are working fine
Uk user
Um. For those of you with the app store problems, does syncing your Amazon account fix this?
This is if you cannot download applications
Go to: Settings > My Account > Sync Amazon Content
What if you install the app from the browser interface on your laptop.

Try to install it remotely from the Amazon site, and choose to deliver it to the Fire stick you want. If it doesn't try to sync your account.
I doubt the application being installed is at issue, I believe there is some sort of configuration issue for you with the app. I don't use AllCast, so I can't help you there
This application has stopped working since the 21st September on newer released firmwares, the application developer will need to fix the issue with newer firmwares for AllCast.
This could be correlated with the issues others have; I doubt there has been major API changes.
Ok thanks i appreciate the reply regarding allcast app guess i just have to wait for an update and try it again..
:good:

I did all of this during my phone conversation with tech support, plus I had removed and reinstalled those apps prior to calling in with my problem. We did the deregistering/reregistering my account and then we did a full factory reset, which also didn't work. Is it possible that I have a corrupt install of this update? And could tech support remove the new version and knock it back to the previous one?
Interesting questions. I've had YouTube freezing after a few minutes, since the update. I'll do a clear cache/data as see if that resolves it. If not a new YT install.
I spoke with tech support last night because I reported this issue to them about 10 days ago and I wanted an update. The guy told me there was a master ticket in the system regarding this issue. It sounds like the new update triggered an hdcp error in certain apps. Like the OP, all my payed apps work but non of my amazon or free apps.

I ended up buying a 2nd generation unit from Best Buy that arrived today and is working just fine. Good luck with yours - I hope they get it fixed for you.
I know lots of people (or probably most) still using Fire Phones probably flashed a newer custom OS to it, but I am still using the last Fire OS which I kind of like. Today, without me doing anything, the system seems to have "broken." The phone became de-registered from my Amazon account, and I learned how much the system was dependent on that registration (that's kind of like registering any Echo or Kindle device, etc). Now all my GUI settings are gone (the way I arrange my > 100 apps into folders) and worse, none of the apps that I got from Amazon's app store work.
And the settings for registering my device do not allow me to register to my existing Amazon account. I get an error message when I try to do it.
The only maybe-unique situation for me is, a few months ago I changed my Amazon password. Maybe for some reason the system needed that and it no longer matched. But a new registration is blocked. So others may not notice any issue if they have been using the same Amazon account including same password, since they first set up the device years ago.
The only fix I can think of is flashing a new OS on it, but in my mind that kind of defeats the purpose of having a Fire Phone. You can have the flashed OS on many devices, but only the Fire Phone can have this weird but kind of nice OS. I mean, making use of the bizarre extra cameras and all. It is a relic of a brief moment in time when Amazon sold its own phone....
This is not my primary phone. I just liked it for reading with the Kindle and other apps, and calling, texting, checking email, twitter (using the Talon app from GP store). Which reminds me, I should mention, only Amazon Store apps are not working. The apps I got from GP and F-Droid are fine.
One thing I'm thinking of doing is disabling the Amazon App Store and installing a side-loaded version that is meant for other androids. Then maybe when I sign into that, my Amazon apps (some of which I paid for....) will work again.
Just curious if anyone else had this issue, and if there is a way to salvage Fire OS on the phone, or if I should flash (and make use of all the hard work of people who worked out how to do that, etc). I'm not tossing this phone. It is very nice hardware that should work perfectly fine for basic things.
