Unzipping the .img file with winzip

I'm having real problems unzipping the above file to show the .img file. The error I keep getting is "Winzip only supports IMG files that are in the ISO format" I have tried to downloading Winrar and 7 Zip file manager but still cannot get it unzipped.
Please, can anybody help, i'm so frustrated!

Ah, you will extract this for put into adb/fastboot folder for flash
So, when you have the winrar windows, drop the file and put it into the folder or the desktop.
Now you can flash/use it

dude, the .img IS THE 'image' file. You don't need to unzip it or anything, just flash it through fastboot.
It's not a compressed .zip file -__-

Now you have to flash it

it appears you can use splashes from the M7 and M8 just take splash.565 or splash1.img and rename to splash1.nb0 and place in empty zip

put splash zip in your platform-tools folder

i changed the version in the info and fast flashed it worked but since it doesn't really effect anything and becuz im fat and lazy gonna leave it :silly:

Any chance of more detailed instructions for those of us not familiar with those tools? I would really like to try to make my own.

Just like, more dumbed down instructions. What is the platform-tools folder, where do those commands get entered specifically. I tried them in ADB shell and nothing was working. The .bat program was giving me an error about the adb program not being installed. So I guess like a more detailed list maybe?

hmm i see... platform-tools folder is a folder inside android sdk program folder.. those commands are entered in command prompt ...in adb shell
the big thing is you need to learn how to use adb and install adb give these a look over

Thank you so much! That explains why I couldn't find the fastboot part of it too. I'll do my homework and figure it all out

nice thanks for testing. I'm OCD and I like the OS to say the correct one in download mode, makes no different though.

I haven't seen this anywhere yet but does anyone know the name (IE: 0P6BIMG.zip) to flash in bootloader like before? is this still an option? I noticed bootloader doesn't look for zips anymore.

That's download mode (there is no fastboot usb on the M9).
The file name is 0PJAIMG.ZIP.
That's zero p j a i m g.zip
You need to have the right android-info.txt in the file.

:good:thats the only thing ive seen calling for a zip in reference to his question but it was in download not in boot , wasnt sure of its name or if it was still using them

has anyone been able to go back to stock splash screen after flashing a splash screen? re flashed firmware, reflashed stock aboot (in android development thread), reflashed no red text aboot (in android development thread), and still see first installed black splash screen. can anyone help? just want to go back to completely stock no custom splash screen.

If the stock splash isn't in either of the firmware.zips, RUU may be only way. Unless the M8 one works.

Flash custom recovery without PC?

Is there anyway to flash tarp on the HTC 10 without using a PC? Like as a update zip on the SD card? I can't get adb commands to work at all on my new PC I get the "daemon not running" messGe I've installed Ubuntu and Linux mint and still get problems using them it's driving me insane I've been at it for 2 days I've done this 4 times before on my previous phones but I can't get it to work now WTF??!!

The phone isn't rooted though it's s-off thru sunshine and that's it

take the OTA.zip from somewhere, unzip it and the the firmware.zip.
You only need the android-info.txt from your current firmware.
Take out ALL .img files, download TWRP and rename it recovery.img zip it with android-info.txt into a 2PS6IMG.zip
Put this on your external SD card, shut down the phone. press volume down + Power.
Press volume up (IIRC, might also be down, its written on the screen) to flash the file.
done.

Did everything you said exactly but when try to flash nothing happens checked all the MD5s everything right this is driving me insane I've put insane hours into this already

Those are the exact instructions how to do it. What happens when you get to download mode? Are you sure the file is on the root of your external storage? Can to upload your 2PS6IMG.zip so someone can check it n

Are you running as admin?
Also HTC fact cord ?
And are all drivers installed on PC Java and all if it's "new" ur prob missing lots of necessary files

I've run all windows updates and installed all drivers and adb files Android sdk tools aswell could it be windows 10? Never had these problems on xp
Edit: I run all programs from the administrator account and use the original cord of which I have 2 of.

You zipped the whole folder. Only zip the files.

dude I worship you right now, you have no idea how much you'd helped thx again.

i tried it
After boot into downloadmode and start flashing it take's just a sec then till me it's done.
After i boot into recovery it take's me to stock recovery So?
I have tried to change twrp with a new one named recovery but did nothing too

Hello, so I am currently rooted on the January update and decided to update to June's update and reroot.
I downloaded the official full image and tried to flash it using the flash-all command. But I am getting this error I MOST be doing something working. Any ideas or a quick guide on how to update and root June's update !?

Did you extract the files first from the factory image and place them in your SDK/platform-tools folder?

Looks like you are using sdk/platform-tools. Are you also using a Mac laptop?

No , windows 10 .
I know the device is being detected in fastboot mood by the computer. It might be something to do with how I am currently rooted. Most "how to " instructions only talk about partitions _a and _b.

there's no such fastboot command "flash_other", you don't have to flash bootloader to both partition.

use googles release of sdk not the entire thing
fastboot flash-all
and bam

You can also go straight to your platform-tools folder and double click the flash-all.bat file to start the installation :good:

Set it all up on a different computer at work. And still can't flash it. I was using flash-all command

Do you have all the files you extracted from the factory image inside the platform-tools folder?? Especially the large secondary zip that has all the images?

If still no luck, download this from Google: https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
Download another copy of June update in case first was corrupt.
Place all Tools files plus unzipped June update files into one folder. Make sure your usb cable is an oem Pixel cable.
Use Windows command prompt instead of Powershell. Type fastboot devices with phone connected in fastboot mode.
If you get a serial number, double click on flash-all.bat. It oughta run fine.

Okay so i have doing this fine but i can't seem to update as well
I use window latest platform tools all files in one directory where i open the cmd

It sure looks right, and I know you've done this before. What happens when you shut the phone off and then enter bootloader manually. I know it shouldn't matter, but what the heck. That's exactly what I do every month, I never boot into fastboot from the OS and adb ?

Does simply flashing the build will do the trick ? Or it's impossible to go back to 9 ?

I've read about several users going back to 9. However, it will take a full wipe and a clean flash of the factory image to do so :good:

I did downgrade to 9, full wipe, flashed twrp, in my case i needed root and magisk safetynet.

Latest original pie, rooted with latest magisk, if TWRP and safetynet were 100% working i would have stayed on A10, but till then i'm gonna stay on pie :angel:

I'm on 10 rooted, and can't unroot. Magisk won't uninstall from it's app. Tried to go back to 9, but it won't flash cleanly. I can sell the phone, but only if it's stock. 9 or 10, the buyer doesn't care. I can use a little help, please.

How about, if I delete the sbin file in system/root, and then do a factory reset from the phone's settings?

Just Grab the pie factory image from https://developers.google.com/android/images
and follow the instruction on the developers' page, note that flashing this will wipe your device.
better to watch a tutorial online on how to flash a factory image :good:

Tried it, but no go. I get the command prompt box ok, but can't put anything into it.

I've done it by formatting data in twrp then flash pie ota, or flash the partitions (bootloader,radio,vendor) on both slots in fastboot then fastboot update (image-taimen-pq3a.190801.002.zip)

Got it done. I had the files in the wrong place. It's all good now. Android 9, stock.

Hey I'm trying to downgrade myself and running into errors when trying to execute the flash-all command. Android 9 files are in the platform tools folder just like you would flash TWRP. First time downgrading. Is there a good tutorial...cause I followed the google tutorial and "flash-all" just sint working.

Are you doing a clean install (leaving the -w intact)?
Do you have the latest SDK toolkit?
What errors are you running into?

Yes I'm using the latest SDK tools.
This is the error I recieved.

Well the android updated to 10 on its own. I attempted to flash the newest version of Magisk onto it using TWRP. Now the phone just stays put at the google logo and wont boot further. It does boot into fastboot, So I figured I should just flash the older version back on. Also im on sailfish

Did you unzip the factory image TWICE? Sounds like CMD isn't finding the flash-all file, which is in the folder after the second unzip.
As far as sailfish OS, I've never dealt with it so couldn't tell you one way of the other anything about it.

Sounds like you downloaded the OTA file rather than the factory image file.
