it appears you can use splashes from the M7 and M8 just take splash.565 or splash1.img and rename to splash1.nb0 and place in empty zip

Just like, more dumbed down instructions. What is the platform-tools folder, where do those commands get entered specifically. I tried them in ADB shell and nothing was working. The .bat program was giving me an error about the adb program not being installed. So I guess like a more detailed list maybe?

nice thanks for testing. I'm OCD and I like the OS to say the correct one in download mode, makes no different though.
I haven't seen this anywhere yet but does anyone know the name (IE: 0P6BIMG.zip) to flash in bootloader like before? is this still an option? I noticed bootloader doesn't look for zips anymore.

If the stock splash isn't in either of the firmware.zips, RUU may be only way. Unless the M8 one works.

This is updated with the lastest tool. (Windows)
I included a zip with all files you may need at the bottom of the post.
1. Turn off your phone
2. Turn on the phone into bootloader (camera+power).
Make sure it say fastboot in the middle if not hit back and it should appear-
3. Make sure your device is found in device manger
If you don't see adb device up top in device manger find the yellow mark devices
Right Click, update driver, and point to the location of the USB Driver
(http://dl.google.com/android/android_usb_windows.zip)
4. Open and extract the below zip to your desktop
You should now have a custom and fastboot folder on your desktop
5. Open up a dos window (start>run>CMD)
6. Type cd desktop then cd fastboot
7. If you would not like to flash the sample images skip to step 9
8. copy and paste the command line by line
fastboot flash splash1 mysplash.rgb565
fastboot flash splash2 mysplash.rgb565
fastboot reboot
Part 2 Making your own images
9. Open up the "create" folder
10. Run CreateG1Splash.exe
11. Open up your image in the program and click convert
12. Goto the folder of your images and their you will find mysplash.rgb565
13. Place the mysplash.rgb565 into the fastboot folder
14. copy and paste the command line by line
fastboot flash splash1 mysplash.rgb565
fastboot flash splash2 mysplash.rgb565
fastboot reboot

Ok, so I downloaded this: http://graha.ms/androidproxy/AdbWin.zip

I was able to do it, but quick question.
How many splash images can I have?
I was able to flash 2 over and it boots the first one (splash1) and then the second one (splash2)
How far can I go with this?

there is no original splash2. splash2 isn't used on the G1s (until you flash something to splash2 yourself). The splash sequence is
splash1 (The G1 screen)
splash2 (doesn't get displayed until/unless you flash something there yourself)
animated android screen
Thanks for clearing that up Expert i was looking in the sdk where do you find the splash file at

My guess would be framework-res.apk. but I may be wrong
anyone got the factory images in case anyone wants to revert back?
Now I've started this thread hoping that one of you guys that are the greatest..lol would be so kind as to help me with my custom splash screen. I have the Evo of course..I made my photo in photoshop at 480x800. I have been successful with changing it with the ones that are posted by some of you guys.
How I do it is by renaming the file inside of the p36img.zip, and update it in bootloader. Now that I have made my own...when the splash screen comes up, it looks crazy and is upside down. I've also tried some other ways with programs that are made to flash..but I dont' know much about command prompts and it seems to never find or be able to open the picture.
I'm fully rooted and it's only by watching the video on rooting froyo that I was able to get rooted...before the new unrevoked!
Can Anyone help?
try this in fast boot
fastboot flash splash1 myplashscreen.rgb565
but replace the mysplashscreen with the name of your splash screen. pretty sure youll need the eng spl to use this fast boot command tho.

Is it possible when you get time to explain the steps with the cmd prompts. And I also don't know what the eng spl is...I still have my Android sdk/tools folder that I downloaded when I did the long root..do I need to put the files or photo inside of that folder (sdk/tools) when I do the prompts?

When you boot into hboot that, i'm pretty sure is your spl, if you rooted your phone you most likely don't have it, unless your running damageless or CM6 roms. and Eng spl allows you to do the fastboot commands I mentioned previously, it basically unlocks for phone about as far as it can go after you've rooted it.
Next when your in the tools folder of your sdk you can call commands like adb shell ... for the fastboot command or other it helps to have the files in your tools folder but it is not necessary so this fastboot flash splash1 myplashscreen.rgb565 would refer to a splash screen in your tools folder
fastboot flash splash1 ../myplashscreen.rgb565 this would look backwards one directory for the splash screen. and so on.
so if the splash screen was on your desktop something like this would work
fastboot flash splash1 ..\..\..\myplashscreen.rgb565
since I keep my sdk on my desktop which is in android\android_sdk\tools my commands says backup 3 dirs and look on the desktop for mysplashscreen.rgb565.
hope that helps...search this forum for the eng spl its a flashable update.
One more question...
First off I appreciate you for your time...means a lot...I'm running of two hours of sleep...lol went to bed at 4..woke up at six for work.
Ok...now do I need to convert my image to rgb565(if so, how) and do I need to save the photo in any specific format? Bit-depth?
Thanks again...if I have any issues then I'll be back!

yes you will it sounds like you were using the alternate method of flashing it through and img correct.
check this thread but this was for the hero and its how I've done it... I'm new to evo so there might be some difference in the file size since the resolution is not that same. but the conversion is the same. Basically get an splash screen from this forum and when you make your splash screen and convert it compair the size to the known good evo splash screen, they should be the exact same size, if so your good to flash. Don't for get the eng spl.
Ok thanks my man...I'm going to try it out and get back..
I haven't been successful with finding the eng spl?
EDIT: Sorry the one I updated...was hboot 0.76.2000..is this the correct one!
Not sure only had my evo for 3 days so i haven't gotten around top flashing the eng spl... but after you flash it the top line should say eng- spl s-off... look in the damageless rom thread.

Hey all,
Just made a splash image that I think you guys might appreciate. My friend showed me the picture and I decided to do the necessary changes to make it into a splash.
For your viewing pleasure
To flash: Download the zip then with an unlocked (S-OFF) bootloader, flash the new_splash.img file to your phone:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash splash1 new_splash.img
fastboot reboot
i would rather have it as a background
my boot image shows 1 micro second. not worth even thinking about changing it.
Well the png is there too so u can use it as a background I guess

This is just a splash image file so as long as your screen size is 480 x 800. You can search for how to change the splash image for your particular phone and then just use this file. I'm sure it will work on any version of android

Even though the original splash is posted, the commands to pull the old one are to be executed from a root shell and are as follows:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p19 of=/mnt/sdcard/splash.img
You may have to do a search for it because when I pulled mine it put it into a random folder on my computer

what guide are you using? the recovery img has to be in the same folder as fastboot unless you point it towards a different folder
In the same boat as the OP, I've done everything right and I get this error message in cmd with the black screen and white HTC text.
BTW OP - You can go back to using your phone. Take out the battery (with the usb plug out of the phone or computer) and put it back in and turn the phone on normally. You'll just have to go through the process again of fastboot oem rebootRUU to get back to the black screen with white HTC text.
I'm using the CyanogenMod Wiki HTC Incredible 2 Full Update Guide (since I cannot link it in my post), I dunno what the OP is using. Also, the recovery file is in the appropriate location(s) in the android-sdk-windows folder.
im using the cyanogenmod wiki and i tried putting the recovery image for clockwork into the same folder as fastboot and adb and it still gives me that error and i dont have the technical savvy to figure this out
edit: that would be the platform-tools folder in the android sdk folder, thats what i found people did by googling this
and to finalassault, i took out my battery and tried turning it back on normally i just get stuck at the white screen with the green htc lettering so i clearly messed something up unless i just have to wait a few minutes

Same error, except it's just coming up as not able to load this file instead of the other one. Maybe I possibly screwed up whilst doing AlphaRev?
Edit - I just did it a different way and I didn't get an error message:
sending 'recovery' (5022 KB)...
OKAY [ 25.776s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 2.254s]
finished. total time: 28.030s
I guess that worked.
Edit 2 - It "worked" but didn't really do anything else. Might have done something wrong on the AlphaRev step. Actually I'll shut up now, something else showed up.
Edit 3 and final edit - Done and done. That was fun.

It sounds like you may have borked your stock rom....if you can boot to hboot and select fastboot then you should be able to flash the CWM from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=14947083
Follow the instructions on the link not the one from CM Wiki. Make sure you have fastboot.exe and CWM image from the link in the same folder as your adb. If you're using windows 7 64bit then you'll need to run adb in compatability mode (at least that's what I had to do to get it working in 64bit).
You should then be able to flash a rooted, deodexed stock froyo sense rom from this link by Jcase http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138274 or use XGunthers Incredibly Debloated Rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138202
That should get you up and runnning. Or you could just jump straight into the GB ASOP roms CM7, MIUI, etc.
Let me know if this works for you....
the first link comes up as 404, appreciate the help
also not quite sure what the compatibility mode is for the adb, kind of a noob here =/
edit: got it in compatibility mode, i suppose i didnt install it right because it looks like it does something for a few seconds then seems to stop

It's okay don't worry...I'm pretty new to this stuff too since I just got into rooting about 2 weeks ago.
Compatability mode is an option in windows 7. Right click on the adb.exe file and select Properties. Once that comes up, you'll need to select the compatability tab on top and choose run in 'Windows XP Service Pack 2' mode (sorry I'm at work and don't have access to my win7 machine). Then click ok and it should run in compatability mode.
Then just follow the flash instructions from the link drcrawfo posted up and you should be good to go!
yea i got the compatibility mode, i must have messed something up pretty bad because adb and fastboot dont seem to do much, they go through a quick thing in the command prompt then dont seem to be active after that, also still cant flash clockworkmod
ok so idk why but i decided to try taking out the sd card and then when i did the flash recovery cwm thing a whole list of commands came up in the command prompt and i have no clue if thats good or bad or what command i should pick
ill list a few just to see if that helps you guys in helping me out
update <filename>
flashhall
flash <partition> [ <filename> ]
and a few more then there were options that followed
edit: and now for somereason it doesnt flash again but if i do fastboot recovery i still get all those options so is there a way to get the cwm to flash through that way

Hmmm..so you have all your files setup in the same folder and when running the commands from cmd they don't do anything? Does it saying anything is being sent?
This may be beyond my expertise. Have you tried posting in the clockwork mod thread in the development section?

I just want to mention that I didn't end up using the exact commands that are given from the wiki, that didn't seem to work for me. I had to mess around with it (including manually pointing cmd to where it was) to get it to work for me. Had all of the drivers, SDK stuff, the path and everything where they should have been. I hope you get this resolved.
nothing is working out for me this is not fun

You need to open a command window, change the working directory to where adb/fastboot are located and then type adb.exe at the command prompt.
It sounds like you are trying to double-click the adb.exe from Windows Explorer.

Probably no. Most likely you will end up with phone freezing on the Samsung logo at boot. framework-res.apk files are not interchangeable between models, maybe not even between firmware versions for the same phone.
Can you post a step by step guide then? I can't really understand anything here
The step-by-step instructions from the link in the first post are pretty much what i did. Read the comment by ravenstark - if you mount the filesystem with root explorer there will be no need to execute the commands in red in section 8.
The instructions from the link in your post cover steps 3-7. You still have to download the file to your PC (1), decompile it (2) and upload it back to the phone once you are done with it (8).
For the first step which terminal do you use??
(Free Your Android guide)
adb. If you don't have you can download it from here. It is part of the SDK and probably the most essential tool.
The command is exactly as written there

What do you mean? If you're using a Windows PC, then just open up a cmd prompt. You should read the guides at the beginning of that page so you know how to setup adb and the apk tool.
The big picture is this. Connect your pc to computer, pull file from phone to PC using adb, modify file on PC, push file back to phone using adb.
For what it's worth, here's a thread I wrote quite a long time ago, some is not applicable for the Glide, but most of it still applies. If you're going to be mucking around in your phone it's best to know how to do a few things first. Read Before Flashing.
When I try and open SDK or AVD (what's the difference :| ) then I just get a quick terminal screen that closes.
It would be appreciated if someone could just create a flashable CWM version >_<
I hate my inexperience @ this. It keeps saying this isn't "adb" isn't recognized, but I've downloaded it! How can I check?!

Ok, so what have you done so far?
What should be done. Assuming you're using Windows, install the Android SDK. Once installed, launch the SDK Manager. Then from the list of installable options, choose the Platform Tools and I always like to get the drivers. Once done, you will have this path, CrogramFiles(x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools, now you could add this path to your variables in Windows, which would be easiest, or copy the Platform-tools folder to C:. Then plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
Now, if you added the Path to your variables, just go Start>Run>cmd, and at the cmd prompt type adb devices. If you see a device you're good.
If you copied the Platform-tools folder over, then Start>Run>cmd, and in the cmd prompt type,
C:
then
cd platform-tools
then
adb devices
Beyond that, can't really help, never use apk tool. Good luck.

Make a backup before applying this update so you can restore if you end up stuck on SAMSUNG logo on boot.
Apologies to the author of the battery mod - I couldn't find his post to link to here...

I hate my inexperience @ this. It keeps saying this isn't "adb" isn't recognized, but I've downloaded it! How can I check?!

Hopefully the file tcfx44 posted works for you. Either way, I highly suggest you learn how to use adb and some other tools if you plan on flashing your phone in the future. It could prove useful some day.
Will this apply over OsiMood? I really am not sure if I am using the Rogers, but apparently I am because in XDA App it says I927-R and same with a benchmark.
Doesn't work for OsI mood 2.1.30 or whatever version was released today. I don't want to give up the amazing UI and stuff of OSi. I'm working fine though, so doesn't look like the install failed or bricked. Any revisions?

I changed a bit the CWM mod. Hopefully this one will work. Make a backup of your current ROM - I'm not sure if this mod is compatible with OsiMood.

Anyone having problems powering off and crashing GO Launcher? (then run through media scanner, etc..)
Could you remove the battery mod? I don't like it compared to OSiMood battery >_>
Finally, sorry for demanding so much, could you also put CRT on and ICS animations here?
Sorry!!!!!
Having serious problems turning off. This then affects my underclock.
