DOA brand new 3XL - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

Was out of town when it got delivered. Wife put it on the charger this morning. It's dead, no battery icon when charging. Power, power plus vol down for minutes. Nothing. plugged it into a computer, it's not on with a dead screen as windows did not recognize it. New replacement OTW.
Most disappointing.

Same exact thing happened to me. Got mine on Wednesday last week, and hopefully will have the replacement tomorrow or Tuesday. I haven't hi a shipped notification yet.

Don't worry yet, I didn't receive a shipping notification for my Pixel order until about 3am, the day of delivery.

I somewhat remember this with the 2's. People that got out of the box defective phones had to wait forever.

Mine worked for the first 4 days and now it won't take a charge. Tried Safe Mode, Power Off charging, new chargers, outlets. The phone even shows it's slow charging when no cable is plugged in and fast charging when a cable is plugged in. Think I'm going to return it for the 6t.

Did talk to a returns and shipping specialist today. Supposedly they are having an issue on rma's getting "stuck" in processing. He supposedly escalated the case and is supposed to email an update. Haven't gotten an email yet though.... Getting closer to being a 6t for me.

I just had a chat with them. Things with RMAs are clearly messed up. Same thing, going to escalate and email me an answer.

Yup, same bull**** for my RMA that was supposed to come today but it never even shipped. The order was placed last week on the 18th was supposed to go out on the 22nd and get here today. I went through a more annoying process and went through numerous reps and one of them even had the audacity to say the phone shows it was sent yet they were unable to furnish a tracking number. I'm like so you guys handed over a $1,000 + device and didn't get a tracking number from the carrier? Seems legit! The rep was quiet and had no response to that comment. On the latest call I made today I got transferred to someone in the shipping department she escalated the issue as well. But I went a step further and cancelled the order for my first RMA and had her place a new order for a new RMA. The new RMA now shows a delivery date of 29th - 30th so I wonder if it was a supply issue? Either way I'm getting tired of Google's half assed device launches and support.

Not a supply issue, they are shipping us new phones. They have plenty, it's a procedure issue.

If it's not a supply issue then it's possible it had something to do with their system outage/update/enhancements they did fairly recently? I don't know anymore to be honest and I just hope this RMA order that was issued today will go through.

Me too....mine has a very small defect on the glass on the edge lip of the phone.... replacement was supposed to be here 22nd-23rd.....still hasn't shipped.

Just got off the phone with Returns....they are having a system issue and it's been escalated.....so nothing.

Well after escalating mine yesterday. Still no email update and no movement on the order page.

Same, not a word. No change. Tomorrow I will make them cancel the replacement and issue a full refund for the original.

i kept refreshing the page, and it said 11 Central "its time" as soon as 11 hit, I tried to purchase 3, then 2, then 1, but the online traffic made the site slow, for me at least, then 9 freaking 15 hits, and its back ordered.
$400 offered to who got a 360 and dont want it

I ordered straight from Moto.
After refreshing lots and lots, the website crash for 2 minutes. The backorder for grey version of the watch went through. I check my order history and now have 2 orders. Now have to call to cancel one of the orders.

Yes, you buy the java card with a certain amount of credits. They can only be used a certain number of times. I think these run about 1200-1500. I thought they came with 500 credits but may be mistaken.
What kills me is mine is sitting in the FedEx facility 25 minutes from my house and I know they won't deliver early. UPS does at times but I've never seen FedEx deliver early.
jcase has already said he is sure they can get S-Off on the M9 so most likely will get It soon after we get our M9's

Finally got it in. M8 on the left and M9 on the right. Cant wait for root and custom recovery.
I will get mine tomorrow I believe verizon had fed ex delay my delivery until friday, because mine ewas picked up like 2am in pa then went to newark nj and sat there for 11 hours.
Many times I get ground shipments from pa to ohio in one day and 2 day is supposed to be faster so I really should have received mine today but THANK YOU VERIZON for that.

Yeah, 1 day delivery. I'm really liking it! The biggest change exterior wise besides the camera is the sharp edges which I'm really enjoying. I already adjusted the settings on the camera as per that camera post on the picture quality thread said and the pictures do look better.
Also, no heating problems, even when I was installing all 40+ apps from Google's backup and another 15 updates after that.
I like it a lot, and all I have to say about the haters on Sammy's side is that, finally the got to beat HTC with their camera and got close to the One lineup build quality and they are roaring out of control about it... I guess they couldn't say much about HTC before and now they are parading about it.

Mine arrived yesterday! I've had it now for 24 hours.
I have had mine for a little over 24 hours and so far I'm fairly impressed with the speed
Pro's:
Much faster. The whole experience just seems quicker. Bench test scores are off the chart.
Pictures certainly are clearer with far better detail.
Sense 7 is an improvement over 6 (as soon as we have S-Off and GPE, Sense is history anyway)
Cons:
Don't like the volume button placement
When you push it, this phone gets pretty warm. Even through a case I feel it getting warm when pushing it.
Not a big enough change to switch from the M8 for most people (I Edged up after a year)
Neutral:
Battery life still a question. Took 3 hours to charge to 100 from 50 and just sitting overnight lost 13% with no use. OS may need some time to stabilize or could be because I have been running GPE on the M8 which was great on battery.

Replacement Battery (BL-T19)

I purchased a water damaged Nexus 5x, took the time to tear it down, clean the board and connections. It's back to life! The problem is, as with most any water damaged phones, the battery is in need of replacement. Looking around my usual channels (ebay, google) I'm not able to find any. The exception at the moment is one listing in the US for an absurd $90, and another in Spain for a slightly reasonable $35, but with $15 shipping. Anybody around here know where a more affordable replacement can be procured?

I appreciate the link, but that battery is the BL-T9 for the Nexus 5 haha. I probably did come across those places during my intense googlin'. I'd be interested in knowing if the battery is interchangeable in some relatively easy way. But that, too, is hard information to come by.

In my opinion it is relatively easy in a sense that it's possible without too much effort. However it is not easy to the point where it's something that you're going to be able to do on the fly. I would plan on 5-10 minutes to change the battery. See the ifixit teardown of the Nexus 5X, you should be able to figure it out that way.

I did a quick lookup. While they've got a few negative reviews on the BBB website, the people are complaining about poor customer service in the event of issues with the parts. So at least people are getting parts from them. Everything else seems legitimate enough. They accept paypal, so I'm confident enough to try. Thanks again, I looked and looked for hours and couldn't find anything in the US, let alone under $40 after shipping.
What did you pay for your water damaged phone? I had an opportunity to buy a previously submerged 5x for $120, but that seemed a lot for a potential paperweight.

I'm sorry, I just now saw you already asked that. I lucked out and got mine for $80. Complete gamble, but I had a good feeling about it. Wouldn't power up, but after cleaning off a few corrosion spots it fired up. Now behavior points to the battery needing replaced and I'll be good to go.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but fixez is bull**** for that battery right now. I saw your post and had to recover my password to reply to you but I am so annoyed by that company that I had to reply. So I watered my 5x a couple weeks ago and dried it out but it would not charge. So I figure it's the battery. Looked online, ebay has one from spain, one US guy has a used one for 60 bucks, fixez has them, and then some sites in the UK and Germany. I put an order in with fixez, and then a day later got my shipping confirmation yay!! on my way to getting back in business!! Then the next day I get a call and email saying that the item is backordered and should be in stock in a bout a week. I emailed back and told them that their site still has it shown as in stock and I asked them if they ever had the item in stock, and if they have ever actually shipped this item before. They ignored my questions and said we should have it in 7 days. 8 days later I emailed them and asked what is up and reminded them again that their website still lists it as in stock. They said they would let the tech guys know about the website error, but that the item should be available in a couple days.
Well I emailed them again with the same thing: that their site still has it shown as in stock and I asked them if they ever had the item in stock, and if they have ever actually shipped this item before. And I also asked for a "real" time estimate. I then got the same email and phone call that said that the item is back ordered and that they expect it in stock in about a week. So it went from "in stock", to "about 7 days", to a "couple days", back to "7 days" and the website still says it's in stock. So I ordered from rounded.com (total plus shipping came out to $35.24) and canceled my order with fixez, and now I wait to see if that works out. Rounded has emailed me to let me know that my order has been completed, but I was given no tracking number. If I had just ordered from rounded.com instead of fixez, I would already have my new battery by now. The refund from fixez came through right away.

The bubble was already popped for me, haha. When did this happen to you? The exact same thing happened with me. I made the order that day, got a tracking number within an hour, then yesterday got a call saying the exact thing. I missed the call, but the guy left a thorough message stating it was out of stock and they were expecting stock within seven days. Weird thing was I got an email a few minutes after the call from a different company quoting a different order number saying the exact same thing. When I returned the call at the number it came from, I got yet another different company name. I get that they could all be run by the same group of people, but it's far from confidence inspiring despite the good communication. I'll have to look into the site you mentioned.
And YES, the lack of battery on eBay is crazy. I'd have been better off ordering it from Spain, at least I'd have it by the weekend if I ordered when I very first saw it. The dude in the US that has the USED battery originally wanted $90 for it. I messaged him asking to make the price more reasonable for a pulled unit, and he did incremental drops over the next two hours to where it's sitting now. I told him about pricing other places have for it and offered 35 for it, and he said he couldn't go that low. Dickhead is trying to take advantage of the lack of availability. For his used ass battery... I ordered an extra unit from ifixez just to sell it for half his asking price just to spite him haha.
I put in my order with rounded.com yesterday and canceled my order with fixez today. I still don't think they ever had the battery in stock, or shipped one to a customer. I just don't understand why the would go through all the effort replying to me, calling me, misleading me, just to keep a $35 order active. Oh well. Hopefully rounded.com comes through. Good luck!!

And YES, the lack of battery on eBay is crazy. I'd have been better off ordering it from Spain, at least I'd have it by the weekend if I ordered when I very first saw it. The dude in the US that has the USED battery originally wanted $90 for it. I messaged him asking to make the price more reasonable for a pulled unit, and he did incremental drops over the next two hours to where it's sitting now. I told him about pricing other places have for it and offered 35 for it, and he said he couldn't go that low. Dickhead is trying to take advantage of the lack of availability. For his used ass battery... I ordered an extra unit from ifixez just to sell it for half his asking price just to spite him haha.

Thanks, hopefully it's just an issue with supply. I honestly don't think they're trying to be misleading, I think it's just a bunch of young people that don't really know what's going on haha. I'll wait it out another week and see what happens. Keep me posted on your order from rounded, I found them in my initial search, but was holding out for a US-based merchant for impatience. Looks like the joke's on me haha.

Hey, that was me! I actually saw this thread when researching options for the replacement battery. I took the PCB from the original dead battery and it fit perfectly with the G2.
I have excellent battery life with the G2 battery so far, the only issue I have is my phone wont give out any battery percentage. But it lasts all day easily and I just charge it overnight so no issues at the moment.
I got the phone dead from Swappa so I'm also waiting to hear if that rounded.com battery works out.

Defective Screen !!

Just unboxed OnePlus 5T and was greeted by defective screen. First I thought it to be the screen guard, peeled it off. Still the same. Reset the phone, still same. Updated OTA, still the same. Finally registered for a return.
What the **** is wrong with quality teams these days !!
These vertical lines are not so visible in full white bright background, but annoyingly visible in dark colored background or just by reducing brightness. I never thought even OnePlus will go this low with quality check.
RIP. And now you can talk with them for maybe a Christmas gift.

I just turned the phone on and saw it immediately. I was confused for a while, since I always had high ideas about OnePlus. This is my 3rd OnePlus device. But guess what, this one is assembled in India - surprise surprise.
WOW that blows !!!. I get mine tomorrow and i hope mine isnt like that as i already sold and shipped out my 5.
If its a standalone case, its not bad. Hope this isnt a general thing will receive mone tomorrow morning and report here

I don't think its a general thing. This is my third OP device and I never had bad experience with OP except this time.
It seems to be a **** on the part of quality check.
We complained to Amazon yesterday night and this morning they sent a technician to inspect it. He registered a case for return in 5 minutes. But the problem is, the seller in Amazon saying they don't have stock so can't replace. So my wife had to argue with Amazon folks since we have prime membership and we bought with early access, spoke with higher management from customer care side, and "maybe" they will replace it. We made it clear that we don't want refund but a replacement.
The phone is brilliant by the way, the face unlock is SO FAST that for a moment I thought there is no lock on the screen !!
Plus the anodized aluminium build is so damn premium that I could actually lick the phone !! :silly:

Amazon has extremely good customer support in India to be very honest. They are always fearful about loosing market share over here and they do everything they can to keep it fluid. I'm getting a replacement on Monday BTW.

Amazon has great customer service in the USA also. I’ve only had 1 very smalll problem in 5 years. I ordered a “Used Like New” Pebble Time Watch from a third party seller, for $.01. I never received the watch. I contacted Amazon and they said that there was nothing they could do. I didn’t care, it was only a penny, and I would have been more surprised if I would have received it. I have never had a problem with customer service when ordering electronics that are sold and shipped from Amazon.
I got my 5T yesterday and everything is perfect..

I've sold my op5 today and nipped to my o2 store and grabbed a 5t so far so good much quicker than ordering from oneplus I had a crap experience last year from oneplus in buying it early and receiving it ate.

Me too. I haven't found one thing wrong with mine. The screen is great, no blue color shift like on the Pixel 2 XL.
It doesn't seem to be a problem across buyers.
Seems to be an isolated issue.
I'm getting a replacement tomorrow
Mine isn't quite like yours, but I've got some strange brightness "bands" on my display mostly visible on grey screens.

Lol every launch has issues. It's early adopter price. IPhone x had the same issues with amoled but they had worse issues. On a phone that costs twice as much. We have to remember it's half the price with most of the features in a package that looks of say way better. Do an rma and get a new one, hopefully get a fixed phone

Question Canadian waitlist/pre-booking - How quickly is it moving?

I did see the general waitlist section to get some idea about this, but since I found nothing there I thought of starting a new thread.
I placed an order on August 26 during the Canadian unboxing (is this what it was called?) event. I thought they'll offer some added incentive(s) during the event, so I waited. While I did get an additional discount by waiting, the customer service is now claiming it'll be at least 5-6 weeks before the product is shipped. Is this a general response from them or is it ACTUALLY taking a month and a half for Samsung to ship the device?
The reason I'm asking this is I'll probably cancel my order and get one from Amazon which is delivering in a couple of days. I'll lose out on all the pre-launch benefits, but patience isn't my strongest suit

Hi! Yes directly from Samsung Canada. I placed two different orders - one for Fold 4 and Watch 5 and a second one for a grip case. The grip case is stuck in "Preparing for Dispatch" and the Fold 4 order is stuck in "Processing".
Interesting. Which color and what storage did you pick? I went with 512GB Black.
Maybe the other colors are in short supply. That's usually the issue. They make tons of black ones, as that's what all the carriers usually order.
PS. It's a great device. The little bit of extra width to the cover display (over the Fold 3) makes so much difference in usability.
Battery life is also excellent, and it doesn't randomly get as hot as a toaster like my S22U did.

I went with the Grey-Green one. I was thinking strategically and was leaning towards the black one because of the same logic that you mentioned, but I gave in and went with the grey-green one as I personally think it looks great. Then again I honestly don't think it'll make a difference to me as my phone is always inside a case!
I will wait for another day or two and then go for the black one if I don't see any movement on my current order. I've been hearing too many awesome things to wait for 5-6 weeks!

There was no 4-5 week wait period when I ordered. It typically tells you when you look at the cart what the wait time will be.
My order has been stuck at processing ever since. I called Samsung last night after have 3 live chat's with them where they all gave me different information.
Basically, I've been told that my order is stuck in processing because there is a 4-5 week wait now. I tried explaining to them that when I ordered, there was no such wait indicated. For sure there is now, but I bought and was confirmed before the preorder ended on Aug 26th.
So I have an open ticket where they are supposed to get back to me with an exact shipping date. Should have an answer today or tomorrow.
This whole purchase from Samsung online has been a total nightmare.

This pretty much captures my experience. I have received the following responses from the live chat reps:
1. There's a wait of 5-6 weeks.
2. The 5-6 weeks wait is only for the "Samsung Store Exclusive" colours of the Fold and my order will be shipped by this weekend.
3. My order is taking a while since the Watch 5 I've ordered is a bespoke model, so it'll take 3-4 weeks and the Fold will be shipped by this weekend.
I've received these 3 answers from 4 different reps since today morning. I don't believe a word that's coming from them any more. I'll wait till this weekend and raise a ticket if nothing moves by then.

This is what I'm considering to do. I'll wait till the weekend and if nothing moves then I'll place a second order, this time for the black one. If the second order moves, I'll cancel the first one. If the second also stays stuck then I'll stick with the first order.

Update: I lost my patience with these guys last night and I placed the second order. It's already moved to "Preparing for Dispatch", so I cancelled the original order today morning. I went for the black Fold this time.
