Not sure if anyone else is running into this issue, but I just got a Pixel 3 XL delivered. After setting everything up, I discovered that the microphone doesn't seem to be working at all?
When calling someone, the person on the other end of the call can't hear me. Doing some tests with Assistant also seem to not be working.
Wondered if anyone else is having similar issues, or if I got a defective device. It's the Black 128GB.
I do have a second one showing up later today so will compare on that once I get it.
I had this issue with my original 2XL and it was a defective device. I'd start the replacement process.

Yeah, the other phone I got (White 128GB) worked fine. I also tried a full factory reset on the one that wasn't working and same thing.
Already contacted Google and set up a replacement. Hopefully this isn't a larger issue for other people.
No problem here. Sorry to hear that you have to send it back.

I have the same exact problem. Pixel 3 XL Clearly White 128GB. Callers can't hear me, unless it's on speakerphone. Google assistant also doesn't work.
Google support said, it would 15 days to get me a new phone - Verizon just returned it and sent me another.
I've had the exact same issues on my pixel 3. I just contacted Google and it went straight to an RMA.
Pixel 3 microphones not working
Hi, I have the exact same issue. The microphones work when recording a video but nothing at all in calls or with the assistant. Sounds like exactly the same problem as the Pixel 2...
I've only had the phone 3 days and Google said it would take 5-10 for a replacement through them, very ordinary. So I will try and take it back to the store I purchased from.
Black Pixel 3 in black.
Very disappointed for my first Pixel!
I had this happen to me also.
When cleaning up the phone for RMA, I sprayed it with compressed air. I sprayed the speakers, and lo and behold, the microphone worked again
I still sent it back.

Yup just happened to my pixel 3 XL as well. Only works on speakerphone, very weary on the reliability of this device! In process on getting a replacement from Google.

wow, so just for the heck of it, i tried this as well......and it fixed it, wtf???
You don't even need canned air. I just got my new Pixel 3 XL, and freaked out when the mic wasn't working. Came here. Canned air? Ain't nobody got time for that. Just slapped the microphone end of the phone against my shirt a few times (on my big fat belly), poof - working mic.
Still, it's not a good feeling buying a brand-new, quite expensive device and finding it has manufacturing defects, even if they are easy to McGyver.
This totally worked!!
Don't know how, but I said to myself, "F it, I'll give it a try". Lo and behold, two smacks on the belly, and the mic is working. Calls, Google Assistant, everything. Thanks a ton for the suggestion.

As of yesterday (before I took the update) my mic just stopped working. The bottom mic that is. If I use speakerphone (which uses the top mic) it's fine. Factory reset twice, still doing it. Time to call T-MO, have not even had this thing 30 days yet.
The really crazy part is, I have a Gear Live watch that the mic stopped working on a couple days ago as well. Bummer week for tech.

Make sure u test camera well. Mine had issues after replacement
BAD ASS G3
So the replacement they sent me was a refurb. It has a small scratch across the rear camera glass, and the screen has a thin red line of pixels that goes from top to bottom.
So... G3 #3 will be here tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Well then, G3 #3 just failed on me. Same problem as my first one, the mic stopped working.
Tmo tried to help me out by talking me into getting a Note 4, essentially for free. But I ended up just doing another warranty exchange.
Here's hoping G3 #4 is the one. I have to be the luckiest guy in the world..
Well then someone is jinxed i sadly recommend the note4 if #4 doesnt work or insist they not send you refurbs
So, I received my pixel 2xl and one of the first things I did was connect it to my car infotainment system via Bluetooth. I noticed I had a lot of static during phone calls. Mind you I don't have this issue with my iPhone 6 or S8 plus connected to the system. I contacted Google and they sent me an email with steps to troubleshoot, still no go. While fiddling with the phone I noticed whenever anything covered the back glass panel I would notice the static even more. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
Long story short Google is sending me a replacement (Sucks they had to hold $1000+ on my credit card to ensure they receive the original phone back lol)
I had this same issue with my 6p back in the day. When I would stream music to my bluetooth speaker at work it was fine but as soon as I had to crouch down or something with the phone in my pocket, the bluetooth would cut out. Google apparently puts all their eggs in that glass basket and if you cover it you get nothing.

Hmmmm I see. It's quite annoying. Glad they are sending another one. Hope it doesn't have the same issue.
Happens with last year's xl too.

The strangest thing happened. I had a professional install a brand new screen on my Pixel 2 XL and now most notifications don't come through and it doesn't ring and I only have the earpiece speaker. Music and videos only play through the earpiece speaker I don't get phone rings, email notifications for AquaMail, SMS/MMS the same. If I use a stock notification it comes through.
I am on Dirty Unicorns from July, Magisk, ElementalX.
What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Nobody has any ideas, theories?

When they replace the screen, several ribbons have to be unplugged then plugged back in. Maybe something got damaged or disconnected.
The tech says it all looks good.. He owns a 500 employee cell phone repair shop across the country.

My screen was also replaced on Monday. No issues whatsoever, the screen also seems to be better than the original one with less blue shift.
No matter how many employees this guy has, he did something wrong! But I checked everything before I paid (speakers, cellular connection, GPS). Didn't you?

screen replacement of the screen is so easy, i did it last week by myself, and unfortunate the bottom speaker stopped working and the ear one start loud then dim by time until you can't hear anything..
i do some inspection and i find out that i knock out the bottom speaker transistors when i was unplug my old screen... the transistors is so tiny black peace beside the screen flex.
i don't know if this issue can be fixed or i need to change the whole main board !!! but am sure that is the thing happened to you too
i will send the phone for ismash to try to get it fixed so wish me luck

This might be the reason for my problem!
Wireless charging has recently stopped working on my Pixel 3 xl. It has been fine for about 2 months, but all of a sudden, wireless charging keeps kicking in and turning off intermittently. On my Pixel Stand it will start up for about a second then stop, and an orange notification light pops up on the base of the stand. I have noticed that sometimes, when I lightly shake my phone, it will start up and work again until I move it, so I'm thinking there might be something loose inside.
It is not charger related, as the problem exists on my Pixel Stand, my Anker charger, and multiple other chargers. It is not case related as it continues with or without a case on the phone.
It does not work in safe mode, and a full factory reset has done nothing for the issue.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this, and better yet, has anyone found a solution?

It sounds like a hardware problem like a loose connection at the charging pad that will have to be repaired at a shop. Definitely contact Google if you haven't already, it dose not sound like something that can be fixed on the software side.
Stupid question, but are you using a case while it is on the stand? Does the case happen to have something potentially blocking the middle of the phone where the charging coils are?

I thought the same but OP said it recently stopped working, which made me think it was a phone issue. Also said shaking the phone can get it to work again, which seems more like an internals issue. Also possible that the case is right on the cusp of being too thick and sometimes it works if it's in just the right spot.

Ah, missed that.
Yeah. I took it in to ubreakifix, a Google licensed repair partner in Canada and they confirmed that it is broken. They don't know what is broken, but it's broken. I will need to get it replaced through Rogers since I got it from them, which is a pain because they are super incompetent.

Just curious, does it happen when you put it on sideways? Sometimes that happens to my phone too, the orange light, but I didn't know what it meant. I would just take it off the charger and put it back on and it was ok but I didn't have to shake it. I sometimes wonder about the employees at ubreakifix. I brought my Pixel 2 in and got completely different diagnosis from 2 people there. And you're sure it's not the stand? Can you test it out on another stand, not a 3rd party one? I'm just offering suggestions since you might have some trouble returning it to a vendor that is not forthcoming in solving problems.
Long story short, I sent my phone in for repair through Rogers. It took them about 3 weeks to get it back to me but they ended up just replacing the device. No word on what was actually wrong with it.
So this is fun. Yesterday afternoon I went to answer a call and could hear nothing. Also noticed the screen was still on when held to my ear. Speaker phone works and the top speaker works for stereo videos. It just does not work in calls. International Unlocked 7t with the latest 10.6 software which has been on it for more than a week.
Poked around a bit ran a test on the proximity sensor with the OnePlus care app. Came back with a fail. Got on chat with a rep who immediately had me factory reset...which I knew would do nothing. I was correct. Got back on chat went though the motions of cleaning the screen and doing various tests and finally the rep agreed with me that it must be a hardware failure and recommended I submit an RMA for service.

Update RMA approved phone is off to Texas for repairs. Now we wait
Phone is on the way back...I suspect they are replacing it as the shipping location is WA not TX. In any case the holidays deff slowed down the process. Will let you all know if it's all good once I have it in hand.
So the phone has arrived back ....or rather a new phone has arrived as they sent me a brand new in the box device. So apparently whatever was wrong with the other one couldn't be fixed realistically. New phone is working perfectly.
5 days with the new phone and it is still working perfectly.
11 days in and the new device is working great. No screen color issues or sensor issues noted so far.
