I recently got a Zenfone 5Z from Flipkart and upon first boot, mmediately noticed that the bottom left area (where the Navbar is) is ever so slightly darker/dimmer than the rest of the display.
The issue isn't noticable in certain lighting conditions but now that I know where to look for it, it is a bit visible in lower brightness or dim lighting conditions.
Raised a replacement request in flipkart who arranged a tech visit. The technician who arrived was pretty dumb and took pictures of a screen test which he did while standing in the daylight. Then said, he couldn't see it but will forward it to his seniors. After a few hours, the replacement got rejected.
Now flipkart says, I can still place another replacement request until the return window is over.
Apart from this minor issue, the phone and display is amazing. But I need to know whether this is a defect before going the replacement route again.
Please see photos attached. Noticable on white screen and white UI background

Hi, Even I have the same issue but in different areas.
I have color differentiation or darkening of backlight at bottom and right edge of the screen and it is getting noticeable easily day by day.
I'm going mad at this phone.

The dark shadow on mine seems stationary n hasn't increased or decreased but as I know where it is, I keep looking at it. Sadly, the jeeves technician said he cant see it. And they rejected my request.
Did you not try a replacement? Or is the replacement also the same?
OMG I thought I was the only one with this issue and people keep telling me I am nitpicking but this is driving me crazy (I'm very particular about display quality).
Raised a replacement request as well, and the technician did the same thing - took a photo and shared on some Whatsapp group - and then cancelled the replacement; although in my case the technician did acknowledge the issue but said that as per the company's policy this does not qualify as a manufacturing defect - most likely the display had some extra pressure applied so is a bit misaligned.
I'm guessing this is present on recent batches as did not read about any such reports before buying the device. Anyway, the Jeeves guy advised me to visit Asus service center and get a DOA sheet from them and raise the replacement request again.
Pissed about this issue as the phone is otherwise perfect... It's just that the bottom 1-2 mm appears darker - like a shadow/warmer color tone, especially in white backgrounds like Settings, Google feed etc.

But flipkart still gives the option of applying for a return if you're not satisfied with the tech visit. Did you not try it? I feel this issue isn't reported much as people aren't noticing it or don't care enough to see that its an anomaly.
Almost all my previous phones had perfect screens so thats possibly the reason why I noticed it immediately. As the issue is subtle, there is a high chance Asus can say it is within acceptable tolerance levels. Especially as it doesn't show up in colored backgrounds and more in white UI elements.
As a matter of fact, I am actually scared of getting a replacement as I fear I may get something even worse with the whole display lottery going on. Because after a second replacement, they only offer refund which means I lose out on the deal I got.
I was looking through people posted images on Flipkart reviews and could see this dimmer bottom area on a few phones. Guess people aren't noticing it.
Also when did you get your phone? I got it last week. Its Aug 2018 Batch Manufactured in Indonesia.
I know there are some being made in China too. I would assume the Chinese ones are a higher quality if we take the Redmi Note 5 as an example
And this issue is very difficult to photograph as a camera doesn't see it as clearly as the naked eye.

Yeah well even for a return they need to acknowledge the set is defective. Besides, like you said, I will miss out on the deal if I return it.
I'll probably visit the service center this weekend and see what they say. Even if they offer to fix it by replacing the screen or something it's fine. I just don't trust Jeeves' judgement - what if the issue is serious and gets worse over time... As of now I can live with it (just hurts my OCD ).
Will update here about the visit.

I too got it in BBD sale, delivered last weekend. Mine is from June 2018 batch, also made in Indonesia. So I guess either all Indonesian units are like this (which means issue is similar to Poco F1's), or this has nothing to do with batches and are rare cases. Ironical that I chose this phone over the Poco because of the display problems in the latter...

Hiw bad is it for you? Can you post some pics? I'll post a few I could manage to click once I get home from work.
Not having a Problem in my Device.
I bought the Phone in Flipkart's BBD Sale. There isn't a single problem on my device and it works flawlessly. But i cannot find where my device was manufactured, if its been manufactured in Indonesia as you guys said then it might only be a problem for some Devices out there. But i have been noticing a bug in the Wifi where it will connect on when we dive into the Wifi settings and Fingerprint is Slow, so is the Face Unlock where we have to swipe up just to unlock the Phone after your face has been recognized. Other than that the Phone's pretty awesome. I am loving it.
Ok, so visited authorized Asus service center today. The guys there were polite and did not try to force the notion that something was wrong with my eyes lol. The technician there has a Zenfone 5z of his own and he showed me on his unit too the bottom shadow is present. His explanation is that the display driver is wrapped around at the bottom chin and that's what creates the shadow - nothing to do with backlight or alignment of the display. So all units would have this shadow effect and no point in getting a replacement. The guy suggested I drop a mail to Asus as feedback about this design choice
So I guess I'll just have to make my eyes get used to it because rest of the phone is perfect and I won't get anything better at this price.
@satishp If you absolutely cannot stand the issue you should probably get a refund and buy a different phone (although maybe a lot of near bezel less displays have similar issues). Or you have to live with it - no point in getting a replacement as all units are likely same. Oh, and btw, the technician's unit is manufactured in China (at least that's what he told me), so it's more of a design flaw than a batch issue I guess...
@khayalmania
Thanks for the update brother. Its a relief knowing its not a defect. Guess we'll have to live with it then. Just to confirm, I have attached photos of my phone's screen now. Sorry about the delay. Is this what you are having as well?
Anyway, I have no intentions of returning for a refund as this was a pretty good deal. This device is even better than the OP6 in many aspects. Nothing else comes close. The issue is quite subtle. Only visible at lower brightness. The shadow isn't very prominent in higher brightness levels.

Sorry man can't see your attached photos. Maybe because I don't have enough posts?...
It's called "shadowing" and is fairly common on the 5Z. It's most noticeable along the notch and bottom of the screen. I'd rather have a little shadowing than lightbleed or burn in.

Hello everyone. Right below the notification bar, there is a tinted area going sideways. This appeared about a week ago. Only the display is affected, this doesn't appear in screen shots. When I get the device in landscape mode, the tinted area stays physically over the same pixels, so it's now upside down. I took pics of the phone by another phone. The quality is not so good but sharp eyes will notice it. Anyone had the same problem? Any ideas what should I do about this?

Hi! It's probably screen burn in, common with amoled displays, I had it quite bad on my old phone. Caused by spending a lot of time on the messaging app, in which the part below the notification bar was grey, and the rest white. Brighter sections of the screen age faster.
I assume you use your phone in portrait mode a majority of the time?

I spend much time on tapatalk and yes in portrait mode. After reading your response my eye caught the bright blue bar of tapatalk 2s stock black theme. Probably that bar caused this because the screen is so dark with this theme but that blue bar.
But this shouldn't be taken as user error right? I think I should get a replacement screen as this phone has been in my hands for just 6 months. I'm still in warranty period.
What do you think?

It's not an error, amoled screens age this way, it's quite normal.
I understand it's quite frustrating, once you see it, you can't unsee it.
Especially in just 6 months of use, I noticed this on my old Galaxy S after a year, and realized it was because I was on an AOSP rom for a few months which had white messaging with a grey bar.
They probably won't replace the screen, either saying there's nothing wrong with the display.
No loss trying, they might be nice enough to give you a new display! :good:

I see... But one expect at least a year to talk about aging. It's no big deal for now but if it gets darker I don't think I'd put up with it.
Too bad I love this thing a lot but guess I'll have to avoid amoled screens for my next device...

Agreed, 6 months doesn't speak much off the quality.
I considered it too, but Samsung devices always have Amoled, and I like Samsung hardware, even though a lot of their devices are faulty, including mine.
The LCD is one of the main reasons I like HTC hardware, better color tone.

Samsung Korea replaces panels for free if they can see a burn in. People there get quite worked up about this issue on amoled displays so Samsung does replace them quietly. Heck there's even people who leave the screen on blue (apparently the best colour for getting burn ins) and get them replaced on purpose. Not sure about anywhere else though. It's worth a try visiting a Samsung service centre if you can find one near you.

Hey, that's good news. I'll try talking to a center when I get time. Thank you very much.
tip for you guys. this issue with amoled screen is a common issue. you can check you note 2's screen burn by doing this test, open the Phone app and type *#0*#, check colors Red, Green and Blue (blue is most commonly affected). Note 2 is my 3rd smartphone with AMOLED screen for me. the first 2 phones got screenburned big time, but I took extra care of this one. it has a little screenburn in the notification area but you can hardly tell the difference even when testing it with the test I mentioned above.
here's 2 things to avoid: exposing screen to direct sunlight, keeping screen to full brightness al the time. better luck with next amoled screen.

Thanks for the tip. Good to know that there's a way to avoid this. I use this phone as a navigator when driving so it must have gotten a great deal of direct sunlight. I'll keep the flip cover shut when not using the maps now.
Thank you all guys.
I got a GPad yesterday and noticed a thin blue line that appears on the right side of the screen when I have been using it for a while (about 20-30 minutes or so). I returned the first and got another one today and it is the same line in same place after using it for the same amount of time. It does go away if I turn the tablet off for a few minutes. I really like the GPad and don't want to keep returning if it is a common issue. Is anyone else experiencing this?
We have two G Pad's in our house and they both have the blue line. Other than that though, the screens have excellent uniformity and color.

Thanks for your quick response Warp11. I did not want to keep returning it if others have the same issue. It isn't necessarily bothersome and turing off the pad is a quick fix.
Same issue here. It's actually to the point that I can't see it or it fixed itself.
Same issue over here,
get blue line on the right side of the screen, but it seem's to appear only when it's hot.
and also some white light bleeding on te bottom, but that's not really a problem
Contacted LG to ask if that's a known issue, but no feedback yet.
Same here, blue line on the right side when tablet in load (gaming and stuff), and mild light bleeding in the upper left corner, visible only on black background at low backlight.
has anyone who has had the tablet for a while NEVER seen the blue line? I wonder if this is a problem with 100% of the units.

I tried two from Best Buy the 2nd also had the blue line also after about 20 minutes of use. I also wonder if they all have this issue? I only notice it on mine when I play a movie with the video player app.
Hello guys...
I did some tests and I have also the blue line thing after 23 minutes watching full HD video from YouTube.
Then something else came in my mind. A simple but hard to think, to take a screenshot at the time was playing the video in portrait mode.
And guess what. The blue line doesn't appear in the screenshot (try it for yourself by taking a screenshot at the time you notice the blue line, transfer the screenshot to your pc and zoom in as much as you want - the blue line isn't there). This prooves to me that the problem of the blue line is just OUTSIDE the screen and NOT on the screen.
So if something happens it happens at point the display ends and OUTSIDE of it.
I don't know if this issue will cause problems in screen itself in the near future, but I think is a step now we know the blue screen isn't on the screen.

Has anyone else here written LG and gotten a response?
lol this just goes to show how much LG cares about this device. Sounds like every unit has this issue with the screen and they say it's "not a known issue". Sounds like people with the G Pad either need to live with the blue line or take it back b/c I doubt they can fix it. I know the line itself is really thin and hard to see, but I wouldn't be able to live with it and it also makes me concerned that there could be other issues related to heat over time.

Well, hello everybody! I own a g pad too and i finally figured out how to expose this hidden "ability: of the device..
I run icestorm benchmark about 5 time on a row and then i took a screenshot with my note 3 in a 90% dark room...Tomorrow i am going to contact LG for this issue too...Feel free to use the photos as you want.

Its most likely a design issue. Which I don't think they can fix it without recalling every LG G Pad.
Its not REALLY that bad, slightly noticeable when watching a video in letter box (when the background is black), but it isn't super bright so it won't really annoy you.
If you play games most of the time, you won't even notice it because as long as there is some color going through those pixels, you don't see the blue line.
The blue line is super thin, its like a line of pixels at around 1 inch long. And since this screen is super high res, the line is super thin.

Guys i took the black version after DOA (the white one)..The problem is worse! The blue line is across the whole screen even if my tablet is cold...If i push it the blue line becomes brighter and guess what...I cannt put the brightness at 100% bacause "the device is overheated"...I have to get this for DOA again cause today is the last day of 7...
Lg hellas told me to get it for DOA but they didnt have ane other issue like this before..I send them the pictures and they couldn't believe their eyes..
Anyway, sorry for my bad english..i hope LG will do something asap..and for me?? I ia gonna try to take refund and not another pad again..When the new revision come out i see what i'll do because this tablet is the best VFM out there...High end with mid end price.
Guys if you remember the heating problem is Qualcomm 600's issue. F.e. galaxy s4 also had it and it fixed through software update.
Mine doesn't overheated at all after 40 minutes watching full HD mkv movie, or after 1 hour browsing. But I also have the blue line. I have the blue line without freaking any heat in back. So I think blue line thing is in all devices, but some users just haven't noticed.
The overheating think, I believe it's only in some devices and not to all.

So for the people in here who have noticed the blue line, are you keeping your GPad? I really enjoy mine but would like some input from others to see what you all are doing/planning to do as far as return, exchange or keep.

I just received my LG G Pad 8.3 from Newegg last night. So far, it's been a great experience. Looks good. I bought a Tab 3 8.0 during a sale at Staples last week, but when I saw the Cyber Monday deal on new egg, I jumped on it.
My question is this : After running a few processor oriented programs ( Antutu stability, etc ) , when I open up a browser tab ( white background or something similar ) I notice a yellow thin line (not a single line, however.. its a little thick) at the top end of the screen ( towards the front camera ). It is much more visible when I use the tablet in landscape mode ( when the screen rotates - and the tint shows up on the left hand side of the tablet ).
Is this normal? I can feel the heat under the screen (it is warm under the tint area) but, the tint is visible and its noticeably yellow. I do not see the blue line as some of you have mentioned on the forums.
I am not sure if this is much of an issue, to require a return. But, I just want to make sure I don't have a tablet which has a screen issue. I noticed it last night while using it after an hour of use, so I think it's visible for the most part (because someone else did not mention it to me )
Does anybody else have this issue ?
Also, compared to the Tab 3 screen, the screen has almost a 30% decrease in brightness. E.g The tab 3 at 50% is equal to the screen brightness of the LG pad at 80%. Lastly, the screen does seem to be pretty warm (color K) in comparison to the Tab 3. I don't know if that is necessarily a bad thing, but I did notice that while doing a side by side comparison of the two tablets.
Any info on the above issue would be greatly appreciated

Unfortunately, due to my account being new, xda does not allow me to upload links or images. I've searched around the internet and I've read a couple of posts where people say that once the adhesive or "some other material " eases out on the screen, the tint slowly goes away (possibly a week or so) It is noticeably yellowish (color wise) in comparison to my Galaxy Tab 3. I'll keep on using it for the next week or so and see if the problem persists or declines.
I'll post pictures once my account reaches the link-free level. :good:

I don't see it either.
RMA'ed the device through NewEgg for a replacement. The screen looked very yellowish in comparison to some review videos (posted on youtube). In addition, I wasn't able to ignore the yellow line on the screen while viewing it on white backgrounds.
I'm disappointed with the brightness and color reproduction compared to my Tab 3 8.0, but since I paid a fair price for it (249),I'm keeping the device. I'm hoping the replacement device will be better than the first unit I received through NewEgg. I've read several varying posts on the screen. It seems to me that there are units with an overall yellowish tint on them, whereas others do not have this issue. My desktop monitor (HP zr24w) has pretty good color reproduction, and in comparing my unit to the unit being reviewed on screen, my device had a much much warmer screen overall.
It was very similar to running Flux on my desktop at 3800k. None of the reviews not mention anything about the screen being so warm. Once I receive a replacement, I'll update the thread. If the problem is isolated to certain devices, I'd advise a replacement or return.
Looks like I have the same problem with my G Pad. I have a yellow patch at the top left of the screen and bottom right also.
Seems to come and go depending on usage, so I assume it's heat related?

I don't have a problem with patches, but the colour accuracy of the display is terrible. Here is my G Pad at full brightness vs my full gamut RGB backlit IPS display at 80% brightness....

The photo makes things look vastly worse than the way the human eye perceives the difference, but there is no denying that the cast is significant.

I only had a quick glance at this thread but I too get a yellow tint in the top part of the screen when the tab gets a bit warmer.
Within ten minutes of watching full hd mkv the brightness also throttles down.

Appears to be quite a common issue. Returned my 4th lg pad today for this reason.
Will be gunning for the sammy 8.4...
Great idea by LG, very poor execution
4th one?????
That's just crazy and a shame because else the tab is really nice.
Ok...
I think the "yellow tint" may have something to do with the adhesive. Quite sure the Display is glued to the digitizer. I had may tab on and stressed for a few hours. You can see the discoloration on almost any background. Even black, just couldn't capture it in a photo.
Has anyone had the tint go away after some time?
This is the same tab after sitting in the fridge for around 5 minutes...
I would hence say it is a hardware issue and not software or kernel related as some suggest.

In your experience, does it go away with time?
I really loved the tab save for that bit...But if it stays like that forever, well...
It definately seems temperature related. As soon as the tab gets warmer the blotch/tint appears. When the tab cools down it goes away.
I don't know if it is some residual adhesive that has not dried/hardened out during manufacturing.
I still have a few days where I can just give it back, so I will be looking into it.

Such a beautiful device giving us so many problems...4 LGs. I don't think I have it in me to go for a 5th one..
Such a nice tab ruined by the screen. Never ever LG again. Unfortunately bought of private seller who didn't keep receipt (new and sealed) and lg doesn't stand behind their product.
From my experience: HTC - yes, Apple - yes, Samsung - yes, LG - warranty not transferable.
Avoid like a plague.

There is somebody working on that fix for your version now. Probably know something more in a week or so.
That would be nice but still won't be buying LG product again if they don't change their policy of transferring warranty to another end - user as other companies does.
As it looks like a batch of defective units they should respect warranty repair of product that has just been introduced and is well within 2 years warranty

I just got my V30 plus to day and the first thing I noticed was that the screen looks so sh!tty compared to my V20's.
I'm not talking about colors, it's about the texture. The screen is so noisy and dirty just like there's a layer of paper in the back. If you look carefully the grain doesn't move when you scroll the pages up and down, it's just there. But when I bump the brightness up to 100% it's hardly noticeable.
I've looked at every V30 at the stores and they all have the same issue. I've asked many people on the internet. They all said their phones were normal. Seriously? How is that normal? Are you guys all blind? I think they just did not notice or look hard enough. They just did not know the issue was there.
My V30+'s screen is as good as my old S8+ (maybe better). It's also better than iPhone X. Can you take a photo of your screen when you see the grains?

The grains are just there but when I took the screenshot it didn't show, because it's a hardware problem. If scroll up and down on the white/grey background you will notice that (not on 100% brightness).

Yes, all LG POLED screens have some level of grain. It's not something new, few years older G Flex2 with much older OLED gen has it. People are not paying attention or don't know what to look for. If you compare side by side regular IPS and POLED from very close range you will definitely see it. It's like looking through screen protector.
Take a look at Play Store Green bar below "Google Play", move the page up and down slowly, lets say at around 30% brightness. Something is staying on the screen and not moving with the page.
It's hard to take it on photo.
Here is one picture: https://photos.app.goo.gl/mtFVtiSfzaz9hCkf1
but I doubt you'll see anything wrong, maybe if you can overlook lack of camera quality.
Same problem
I got my v30+ today and I'm facing the same problem. Not entirely sure how anyone else can't see the same. I'll be posting a picture of my disrupt soon. Please take a look and confirm if you guys/girls are having this problem or not. Thanks.

Note the grainy effect on blue brightness rocker.

My entire display has a uniform grainy effect, like it has a white paper as a background. My lg g6 has better display than this. Also the v30 looks quite warm(yellowish whites) when compared to G6 .
Yes, because LG G6 has IPS screen which is completely different tech.
To your picture, as expected such effect is pretty hard to capture by regular camera, but I see what are you saying, it's also visible on the white.
I think the best demostration could be to capture a closeup high quality video while scrolling page where is green/white, like Play store with low brightness.
Anyway I don't think you can do something about it, since it's not a bug, it's just stupid quality feature on every LG POLED not solved for a years .
Btw, I've checked pretty cheap mid range Samsung phones with AMOLED and screens there are without any noticeable grain, just like IPS. Perfectly clean solid colors.
A slightly yellowish white is also LG POLED feature as far as I know. It opposite to Samsung's blueish panels, however you can slightly correct it in the Display settings.
Thanks for all the info. Initially it seemed like I was the only one who had this issue with my v30. Knowing that it's gonna be the same with every other v30 I might as well kept this one. Thanks again.

i do not think that on the white is some grain issue, it might be the display itself and the camera he shoot whith is such a BAD one with alot of noise and oversharpen...
my display is perfect, i don't even have the light bleeding everyone on the internet say they have
you might very well have a defective one, or is not properly cleaned ot you have some protection film
I shot the image with a g6 . I do have light bleeding from the very edges. Now I'm surely going to return this unit and go for a replacement.
It should not be worse so you can try if you have that option.
What I know so far is, that if someone saw the grain in the screen, saw it on every other replacement. I don't know anyone who confirmed that this issue completely disappeared with an another unit.
Well, amazon did send a technician today. I showed him the light bleeding from the edges 1st, followed by the the grainy effect on screen. He told me that he would approve the unit for replacement/refund on the basis of the light bleeding. Surprisingly he wasn't bothered about the grainy effect at all as he said, "its nothing". I did opt for a refund instead of replacement as I'm afraid the replacement unit might have the same problem, and if its without the light bleeding edges then I'll be stuffed. Gonna keep my g6 until a lg smartphone comes which has a good dac, good display, good camera and no notch(hopefully lg v40).

I normally listen to buds, so I didn't notice on Day 1, but it's Day 6.
I noticed the bottom speaker tends to distort/rattle on low end even when not on Max volume. Is this normal for some of y'all?
This is what I use to test low-end
(1st track)
And my ROG 6 fails playing these tracks clearly in Poweramp.
Granted I am using a Treble-Bass preset on the EQ, but I always time the bass and low-end a few steps down because #1 I don't want bass must, and I want more clarity. I use the same disks for every device I use, phone/tablet speakers, earbuds, speakers... And everything performs great. But the ROG 6 just can't? I did do minor testing on Day 1 and didn't hear anything, but now I do hear noticable vibration.
Should I take it back? Is it normal and I'm being overly analytical?
I got my phone from Mobile Advance. They said if they couldn't replicate my issue, they charge a 20% restocking fee. Problem is 20% of $1200 is $240.
So please tell me y'all are hearing distortion/rattling too and it's not just me.
You can hear the distortion best at 13 seconds into investigation and the next 5 or 6 seconds after that.
And on Minstrel the audio is clearly clipping and distorting.
Volume is 80%
EQ looks like:
https://imgur.com/a/N6Qu3CI
This is a bass and treble boost, but it's so mild that it shouldn't be straining the speakers
System EQ is flat.
I also dealing with this:

Sad to say but yes.
As for your screen its ASUS rather poor implmentation of "green tint fix". You probably notice the lowest brightness level of the ASUS is much higher than some of your other phones, its their way of working around the green tint of these samsung panels.
The downgrade in hardware for the speakers + AMP is the reason why the quality isnt as good. The days of 1 amp per speakers are long gone.
On ASUS forums people are complaining about speakers a lot.
If you want more examples of how your speakers will go down the drain:
at 0:46
0:38
Honestly sounds like the speakers are about to blow up, even at lower volume levels. ASUS doesn't really give a damn tho, they claimed they "couldnt reproduce it" despite literally everyone else is able to easily reproduce it, honestly sounds like ASUS can't fix it and pretend its not a thing.
It's a repeat of the Rog3 where ASUS refused to fix the display where I had to come along and fix it via my kernel. Unless you find some devs that own the device and are bothered enough to fix it, you're out of luck.

Screen bleed was.
They could just argue the speakers are supposed to sound like how they do.
Screen bleed is undeniable.
And it really doesn't matter what excuse you/I/anyone should have to try for another replacement, if you have a 30 day return option to ameliorate a $1200 device investment, you should probably use it.
Hello has this distortion been fixed? Is the distortion only with the Chinese variants that have been flashed with global rom? Is the distortion affecting all batches or are there some batches that don’t have the distortion? I’m thinking of buying the global version, any help and info would be appreciated

Make sure it's an authorized seller for the best buyer protection, best refund policy, and probably lower price. If you buy from a more riskier account.
I say that because you can buy from an independent seller and still likely get an ROG 6, but if you nit pick some things about the screen and speakers like I did, you most likely won't have much options to deal with it.
I got my phone 10 days before it's release, new in box sealed, unused phone... And 5 days later my problems started showing up.
Had I got my phone not from an authorized seller, of likely have a harder time convincing them for a replacement

Speaker distortion is on the low end. So on base heavy audio, you'll hear rattling.
High end may sound a little tinny.
You can make the argument that these "Problems" were intentional and thats how they're supposed to sound.
However the faint glow of light bleed on the screen is a legit problem. It's an only noticable in low light but once you notice it, it's impossible to not notice.
AMOLED is supposed to have every pixel be it's own lightsource. So if the value is #000000, then the black should be so black that you can't even tell the display or that pixel is even supposed to be on. Well on my phone, it doesn't/didn't.
Not my only AMOLED devices don't have this is problem.
But the real big issue of having this faulty screen issue within 7 days of ownership is that the only other person here is telling me "Oh that's normal"

They're nitpicking reasons that I felt I had to address because I was still within 30 days of a return/replace.

But when ROG 6's own site and resellers are drawing extra attention to it's screen and speakers as marketing material to describe how they're the best, then you should expect them to be the best.

Sadly the screen is just some leftover garbage. E4 has been replaced by E5 last year. The speakers used to have dedicated amp per speaker (rog3) they also removed that. Its a massive downgrade. The E4 panel is nothing special either, ull find it on budget phones.
Just got my "replacement" with some good and bad news.
Good news. I got much better sounding speakers. The same problem I heard as little as 60% volume doesn't manifest itself until 100%
Bad news... Kind of... The light bleeding, fringing, glowing, whatever you wanna call it, is technically worse on the new model. It's no longer exclusive to the one corner of the phone, it fills up most the screen from top to bottom.
While this may sound worse than before, and technically is... But because the issue is more evenly distributed across the screen, it makes for a far, far less distracting issue. While it isn't 100% true black,
No longer is my eye drawn to the the one corner on dark screens. Now the entirety of the screen seems like it matches.
I suppose these phones arent going to come completely "perfect"
But as long as I can ignore or can't notice the issues, I'm more content. Out of sight, out of mind.
